It's not every day that you find an amazing nail and waxing place right near your house. Massage chairs-check. Friendly, sweet employees -check. Carlina is an amazingly sweet and highly professional waxer, I'm done before I can blink with little to no pain, I completely trust her with my brows and bikini. And I'm sure I'd trust her with anything else! Xuan is such a sweet woman, who really takes great care with your nails. All the ladies are so sweet. They can fit you in last minute or give you an advance appointment. I've never had an issue walking in for an appointment. Did I mention the massage chairs? This is such a great salon! I just went with my sister (who goes there frequently) and had such a lovely experience. The staff is kind, and great at what they do. Stopped by for a pedicure because I was in the area. First and last time I come here. They don't spend enough time on the pedicure. They don't use the heated lotion like other places. The woman also used very minimal lotion which made for a bad massage. This probably isn't their fault, but there is no cell service in the salon. So if you're thinking you'll be able to entertain yourself on your phone, you won't. Do yourself a favor and try somewhere else. read more

Love the ladies and service at RELAX NAILS. Been a client for 3 yrs. THEY DO A GREAT JOB especially on my dry, calloused feet with hammer toes on both. Feet are hideous but look beautiful and fresh when done. Finger nails are normal so no problems. I decided to come here for a gel manicure because of the convenience. My nails are beautiful, but I did not get the full proper manicure I paid $35 for. In addition, she kept leaving and when she came back, she expected me to have switched my hands, taking turns under the UV light. Ummm, am I supposed to know how to work this thing? Great nail spa and the best, cleanest that I have found in this neighborhood. The staff is always welcoming and accommodating, and they have to put up with a lot of strange and grumpy tourists and others in this neighborhood, and they handle it all with patience and professionalism (you wouldn't believe the crazy things that I have witnessed the staff here endure during my appointments). Their massages for manis/pedis are amazing...I mean really really amazing (makes me sleepy ;) ). They welcome walk-ins, and although I do not use waxing services, I have been there when waxing customers come in, and the staff is quick to help them, and the clients that I have observed all leave happy. This salon is a gem and fits precisely into my schedule whenever I need a wax or a quick mani/pedi. Carina is usually the one to do it, and she is not only one of the most sweetest, most personable women ever, she waxes your eyebrows, lips (and everywhere else!) to the utmost perfection. Best part?, you ask??!!? NO PAIN!! All of the beauticians are professional, sweet, and really easy going! They are dynamos at waxing, and you are in and out within 5, maybe 10 minutes! As for nails, I don't agree with any of the bad reviews. I have been going there since June, and have NEVER EVER had a problem with my cuticles (or anything bleeding) and the massage is wonderful. They even got new massage chairs, that are puuuuuurfect for relaxing after a long day at the office! So give yourself a treat, especially all of you fellow Haighters, hippies, hipsters, and highly intelligent...GO TO RELAX NAILS!!!! Carlina is the best! I get my french gel nails done here and they're always perfect and last for 3+ weeks. I used to break my nails/chip my polish a lot, so I never got manicures very often until Carlina suggested I try gel. I love it - my nails are perfect, shiny, and strong. This was one of the worst mani.pedis I have had in the city... for $28 it is certainly not worth your time. Very rarely do I speak up at poor service, but I had to have my toes re-done... they were streaky and goopy. Much better value is Haight Street nails for a quickie/cheapie. The ladies here are super nice. If you come often and make an effort to talk to them they will remember you. The manis and pedis are pretty cheap, but they charge $3 more for the french manicure --many salons do not. I must say they give the fastest mani and pedi =30 minutes flat. read more

Relax Nails on Haight Street in San Francisco is one of the best pedicure and manicure establishments in San Francisco and without question is where are all the neighbors and folks in upper Haight go for their treatments. Hint: If you ask nicely you can add a wonderful rejuvenating 20 minute foot massage with your pedicure for a very reasonable additional fee. They work hard and are extremely hospitable and friendly and can usually accommodate walk-ins! Relax Nails helped me regain some of the use of my leg and foot after an accident. I would come weekly to get a therapeutic foot massage/pedicure which helped to slowly remove the remaining limp I had after coming out of the hospital. After their pedicure your feet are clean, flush with circulation and tingle! Your whole body feels wonderful! You may not be sitting in a giant massage chair while you're feet are soaking in a tub of rose petals and lemons, but your finger and toe nails will definitely look great when you leave. I notice that most of the bad reviews about Relax nails are from a few years ago (with only 1 exception). I have been going to this place for the last year I have lived in SF and even after having gone to other places (like Haight Nails) I come back for the waxing primarily. The waxing cannot be beat and lasts a long time and is a great price ($35 for a Brazilian). I have also gotten a number of mani pedis and I have not had the experience of having polish last any shorter or longer than other salons. I also have been doing the Gel manicure, which by definition lasts longer. The women are very nice, professional, don't talk your ear off, and reasonable. I am very satisfied. read more

These stars are for the hair removal. Nothing fancy and spa-like, but she's quick, and the least painful Brazilian wax I've ever had. I've forgotten to take my ibuprofen a few times and each time was still bearable. Also, no bikini bumps!! I've paid more at "nicer" spots and came out with worse. For $40, it's a helluva deal. Awful for acrylic nails. Now, I had a bad set on already and was looking to have them fixed up and she didn't even try. She wouldn't shorten my nails, not even a little. She was shaky. Terrible paint job. Would not recommend Relax for acrylics. Perhaps they do better with pedis and wax? I won't worry to find out. read more

Gel nails are $25 which is a deal. Definitely no frills type of place and they are trying to get you in and out, which I really don't mind. However, my gel nails are supposed to stay on for 3 weeks, chip-free and they started lifting after less than a week, then by week two they were totally coming off. Best possible inexpensive manicure. They are clean and fast and friendly. The nail polish selection is better than anywhere else, especially for gel. They will do pedi and mani at the same time if they can to be faster, which is great if you are short on time. Some other reviewers have complained about the wait - unlike other places, they don't lie to you when there's a wait to make you stay. So if they tell you a 30 min wait, it will be a 30 min wait. I have been coming to relax nails for 15 years. They are fast, friendly and do wonderful work at a great price. There are tons of colors and kinds of polish. They work fast, but always do a top quality job. My polish lasts, and I won't go anyplace else for my eyebrow wax.. The shop and all equipment is impeccably clean, and the women that work there are so warm and welcoming.
