This has been the worst AC provider I have ever dealt with. We paid nearly 15k for a new AC system and it started having issues soon after installation. We called for service multiple times and each time a different technician came out with a different explanation but no resolution. When the manager Phil finally came he insisted everything was working fine even though it clearly was not. We are still under a full coverage warranty but it seems they are avoiding spending the money to fix a problem they caused. Avoid this company at all costs. After reviewing the Yelp reviews and ratings, I purchased a new HVAC system with this company in September 2021. I paid to relocate the furnace to the attic and install a new AC unit in the backyard. Their service was amazing in the beginning. They were very pleasant and great at communicating via email. It only took about 3 days to install everything. Once I paid them, things took a turn because the HVAC system started having issues. I paid a large sum of money to a professional for everything including passing the inspection, but it did not happen the first time. It took some time for them to correct it as they were trying to put the responsibility onto me by having me contact PG&E to fix the pipes. This is their expertise. They eventually installed another pipe along the old pipe that connected the HVAC system to outside and it passed the second inspection. I had requested for a more updated thermostat that looked similar to an Ecobee prior to installation, but they forgot and installed the standard one. It wasn't a big deal and I wasn't charged for it so I decided to just keep it. Note: my tenants don't really use the HVAC in general so they didn't routinely check it if it was working until the temperature was too hot during the summer of 2022. That's when they noticed a problem: the AC wasn't working as the living room and some other rooms weren't getting cold at all. I called the company. They sent someone out and it turns out the transformer box was broken so they promptly fixed it. That was great! I was impressed at how fast they were. Even after that, my tenants rarely turned on the AC due to utility costs. In June 2024, the HVAC started to fail again. The warranty for labor was for 3 years (expire in September 2024). The warranty for the parts was for 10 years (expire in September 2031). That means I was still under warranty. I contacted the company of the company in June 2024 because there were still some more issues: - When AC is on, it takes an hour to cool down by 2 degrees. Only some rooms of the house are a little cooler. When heater is on, it takes an hour to get warmer by 1 degree. - Stuffing from tubing is completely exposed (see picture). It was exposed more than 3 months ago when my tenants last checked in March 2024. My tenant had mentioned it at least twice to the HVAC guy, but he only checked the box not the tubing. Per contract, everything was to be replaced. Was the tubing really replaced? Why would the tubing be exposed so quickly? If I'm still under warranty, then it should be fixed. - Lack of communication: during the four months of emailing and phone calls, the secretary told me that the boss will call me. The boss Phil responds via email in October 2024: "Forward her to customer service." No one followed up with me. I called the office again. Boss finally set up a meeting for December 2024 (6 months after I first contacted them about the issues). In October 2024, a staff member came to take a look at the issue and said everything looked great. Nothing was done. I double checked and the airflow wasn't the same in all of the rooms. Some rooms had strong airflow whereas some would have none. In December 2024, the boss came to check the vents and he had agreed that some of rooms weren't getting enough air flow. He sent his staff member over that same day, which was helpful. They said that something was dirty. They cleaned it and now everything is okay. They didn't do anything to the tubing, which is still exposed. They did change the dampers to improve the airflow to other rooms specifically the living room. The boss came over to check himself and agreed with his workers. I came to check two days later. While changing the dampers did fix the airflow to the living room, it stopped the flow in the Master bedroom and another bedroom. I emailed the boss again. No response. No phone call. It's been three months since then. Still no response. I gave up. Overall conclusion: Find another HVAC company. read more

It doesn't matter if the job was just adding an efficient AC unit and nest thermostat, or, something more complicated like a dual fuel heat pump with inverters, these guys can do it all. I have a strict HOA and I was highly satisfied with Reliable's service, expertise and patience to get what I needed. Yolanda and Phil were excellent with communication as we worked via email to get the documents necessary to approve the work. The technicians who came to my condo to do the work were prompt and careful to meet the requirements and specifications such as not running the lines through the vents. Price wise, it was more affordable than 2 other bids I got and they gave me the most options and flexibility. The paperwork after install for the City inspection took the longest but that is on San Jose not Reliable. I called and asked for a quote to replace my AC and furnace because I was very happy with the service on a previous problem. I recommended them to friends earlier and they too were happy. Yolanda immediately responded and Phil gave me a reasonable quote. I did not feel the need to negotiate the price. It only took some emails and phone calls to select the system. I was told that power would not be cut and heat would be working on the same day and if needed they would come back the next day to finish. As they said they came at 9am with the equipment and 3 people and Phil. One did the wiring for the thermostat and 4 temperature sensors, one replaced the outside AC unit and one replaced the old AC coils and furnace and that wiring by 1pm and took a well deserved lunch break. It's finally time to replace our ancient HVAC. I got 5 contractors come over, but only 4 sent me an estimate. Reliable Air Mechanical was the least expensive. When Al gave me a verbal bid after looking at our house and speaking with Phil, I thought they had made a mistake with the numbers LOL. My old AC freon leaked 9 month ago and the furnace was about 33 years but still working. Phil came by the same day of my call and took a quick look. A very straight forward guy and not much upselling. Got the quotes (heat pump and dual fuels options) and it was the most reasonable compared to some of the other quotes. Decided immediately and his guys (3 people) came out next working day removing old and installing the new system. It was a big job - install nest programmable thermostat, a new 80% efficient 2 stage furnace Bryant brand ( manufactured by Carrier ) model # 821TB66110V21 and a new Bryant 19 SEER 5 TON slim line heat pump model # 38MURAQ60AA3 with evaporator coil. All for $3,000 less than the cheapest quote I got, there were others quoting as high as $20,000. They also relocated the outside AC unit to a better location for the slim HEAT PUMP, installed and Haul Away the old Furnace and AC. Since it is a dual fuel and some heat pump needed parts were missing from the manufacturer, they were able to quickly get the parts and have an experience tech came back the next day and completed the job. This is a late post. They replaced a very old wall heater with a complete HVAC system. Phil gave me the best quote which included an upgrade from 14 seer to 16 seer AC and 2 stage, instead of 1 stage, heater. They were promising 3 days but then they finished in 4. But probably because my old house is full of plaster wall, not regular drywall. I had to remind them about some remaining pipes etc they had to clean after the job. And, I wished I remembered to ask them to install a smart thermostat instead of the regular old-looking one. But fast forward few months after, I finally moved in the house. The AC is terrrific! My previous place had an AC which always made the place very cold, blowing very vold air, then shut off to warm the place to be warmer than I set, then repeat. Anyways this AC that Phil set makes the place just nice. Very awesome especially during this hot summertime. I haven't tried the heater. I hope it's just as nice. read more

Two for two. We have used Reliable Air Mechanical for the last two major HVAC projects - in two different locations. They came through with flying colors both times. The latest project included installing a ductless heat/air system in our small back cottage. We did our due diligence and got several quotes for it and Reliable Air Mechanical was factors less expensive in their bid than the others. It was to the point I got somewhat curious (suspicious?) and I asked Phil directly on why the delta was so large. Showed on time for estimate and install for a ductless A/C unit for master bedroom. We are very pleased that it only took one day to install and they wore masks, brought tarps to protect our carpeting and even vacuumed the area before they left. The price was more than 5k which was expected and they do take credit cards with a 3% fee which was fine with us. The unit is very quiet and blends in with the decor. The out door unit and conduit look professionally installed and you barely notice it. The whole process was streamlined and stress-free. Recently had a new AC system installed by Reliable Air. Two new furnaces and 2 new slim line Bryant units. My only issue was the time it took to receive a quote (a week versus 1-2 days for everyone else) but I still choose them because: 1) Very detailed walk-through provided by Al. He explained a lot to me that other companies did not and was very honest. 2) Not the lowest quote I received but one of the better value ones. I received another quote for Carrier units (same parent company) and non-slim line for 50% more. 3) Could get work done the earliest and fastest. They got this done in 1 day for me with 5 guys versus competitors saying 2-3 days 4) Great customer service. Answered my questions in a timely manner. On the job day, they showed up on time, covered up our new carpet and hardwood floors and stairs, split up into teams for downstairs and upstairs units and finished by 6pm. Very professional group.
