First of all when we checked in we had 6 of our 8 guest standing in the lobby and the host wouldn't let us sit down until our last. 2 guests arrived... The service was barely average and the first server tried to upsell us on everything expend the menu. Overall the food was ok but one of our servers recommended the double cut pork chop which was the worst pork chop I have ever had! We had reservations at a nearby restaurant that inconveniently booked us at an outdoor table in 40 degree weather. Pivot to Rick Erwin's Eastside. It was around the 7PM time frame on a Friday night, so we were a walk in but were seated after a short 15 minute wait and the front of the house was very attentive to us in that time with good communication on our status for being seated. As one would expect, the food is up to par and although slightly more expensive/upscale than other options, there is good value here. I chose the wedge salad ($10) and added a filet ($26) because I was feeling hungry and flush that evening, and also that was what was going to be my meal at the previous place. You could add chicken for $10 or shrimp for $11 or salmon for $18 to make it more reasonable. Every now and then, why not splurge. Portions were satisfying. Service was attentive. Generally speaking, this is a good restaurant choice for a nice evening meal. However, it is only three stars for me because there was nothing that significantly stood out from expectations. Which is OK. That is what three stars mean. If I were to consider feedback for improving my rating, it would be to have increased options for value. For example, the filet addition to the salad was a four ounce filet. It is convenient to eat out and have a nice ambiance and service, but for $36 for a wedge salad and four ounce filet, I can make the alternative choice to prepare this at home from the Fresh Market for significantly cheaper. It is not a complaint, just is what it is and that is my general impression reinforced by a prior visit wherein two pan seared scallops for an entree was in the $19 range. This is a restaurant I would recommend, just with the caveat above - know before you go. read more

First time here. Mother's Day treat. My husband reserved a table for 2.15pm. We arrived around 2pm. We were told there was a little wait as it was a holiday. Hostess said to wait in guest waiting area. There was no room so we went to the bar to get a drink. The Old Fashioned was very tasty. We were called to our table around 2.50pm. The Restaurant is quite dimly lit with candles all around. An intimate setting. I did notice a dirty mark on the tablecloth after we had been seated. We ordered quickly as we had time to look at the menu at the bar. The server brought some hot garlic rolls with an oil and balsamic dip. Delicious. Shepards Pie for me, Pork Chop for my husband. The Shepards pie is served in a small skillet which is extremely hot. The pie was extremely hot too so be careful! The Jalapeño muffin on the side was good (also hot) Pork chop was nicely charred and cooked perfectly, served with fries and green beans. Portions are good. I took half of mine home for the next day and still delicious. We only had room for a Creme Brûlée. My reason for a four star is the seating. We were placed in a busy walkway near the door and people were passing by a lot. I visited the bathroom which is surprisingly small only two stalls. When you stand up you almost hit your face into the coat hook on the door. Not much room to move lol I would definitely come back here again. read more

We came here for dinner for the first time and it was overall a good experience. We had a few issues with the cook of our food and some items on the menu were out. The manager was very nice and discounted a ton of our meals to make up for the issues which we really appreciated. The atmosphere is white table cloth and nice. This was an amazing experience. We had my parent's 50th anniversary party in the wine room. The staff and servers were absolutely incredible. They helped us with every detail. The food was out of this world. My parents said it was the best thing anyone has ever done for them. All of our guests had a great time as well. Thank you for making this night so incredibly special for us all. I can't name all of the favorites but some of the things we enjoyed and are still talking about are the she crab soup, the bbq shrimp, the meatballs, the calamari, of course the filet which was amazing. TLDR: I expected better from Rick Erwins. Wife and I had dinner at Rick Erwins Eastside last night. She ordered the restaurant week special and I the aged delmonico. The venue was nicely laid out, quiet with attentive staff. We were able to hold a conversation. My wife ordered a martini ($23), extra dry, which came out so dirty she sent it back! I have cut back on salt for years so most times I eat out the food is salty. Not this time. My steak was VERY under seasoned ($88 with their nasty truffle butter, as my server steered me away from their béarnaise Butter which was likely a good recommendation). I had to salt it TWICE. And my medium rare was very much medium. For an expensive signature piece of meat it had zero flavor. Wife's rare filet was also over cooked. Wedge salad was less a wedge and more a pile of leaves on a plate. Too little dressing. Definitely subpar for $10. Parmesan fries ($12) were good. All-in-all the meal, for two people was $286 for two people (with tip). Not going back anytime soon. read more

We had mentioned we were there to celebrate a special occasion and were greeted with a glass of champagne. We were excited to try out their new chef's creations. The shrimp cocktail there is always excellent. We also tried fried green tomatoes, Caprese salad, and I had black grouper with a Thai basil pesto that was out of this world. It was accompanied by 2 sea scallops and I added one of their Company crab cakes. The crab cakes feature big chunks of crab with just enough filling to hold them together. We topped it off with an assortment of 2 sorbets. The staff was very professional and attentive. This restaurant has been a staple in this area for many years and we highly recommend it! read more

First time at Rick Erwin's but not the last! In town for the Clemson Spring football game and had the best dinner and service. Shannon our server was so welcoming, knowledgeable and all around fantastic, the whole staff was great! We had oysters to start, the wedge salad, filet cooked perfectly, strip steak cooked perfectly, sea bass and several sides - all so good! If you come to Greenville and want a top-notch dining experience book any of the Rick Erwin's restaurants. Fantastic! I've eaten at RE's restaurants at least a dozen times now and never anything less than excellent rating. Food is the best you'll get anywhere. Service is excellent. Wine list is solid...can't go wrong with any bottle. Tonight our table had tenderloin, scallops. Bison and ribeye. Sharing at least a taste around the table, everyone's was fantastic! My ribeye (dry aged) was, in my humble opinion, the best of the crew. But you couldn't go wrong with anything at Rick Erwin's. And somehow, someway Rick always shows up to thank guests for eating at his restaurants (he has multiple). How does he do it?!? Great touch. But everyone believes he's a hologram. Lol, Rick is everywhere. Again, if you visit the GSP area stop at one of Rich Erwin's establishments for a great dining experience. read more

I was quite disappointed about my recent visit. I have always loved Rick Erwin's so I took my friend there for her birthday, we were looking forward to the pick 3 with the filet mignon. They had changed the pick 3 and took the filet mignon off of the options. she had the pick three with shrimp and scallops. the portion size was ridiculously small and since I was treating for her birthday I was embarrasses. When we toasted her birthday there was no champagne like I have always had when celebrating a birthday. the whole visit was an embarrassment instead of a joyous occasion! read more

I WROTE THIS REVIEW NEARLY 3 YEARS AGO I NEVER HEARD BACK FROM MANAGEMENT OR OWNERSHIP. Absolutely Not. This was a birthday celebration for my wife. With our daughter, son and their spouses. Also 2 grandchildren 8 & 5 years old. 4 of us arrived for a 6 PM reservation. Our son, daughter in law and 5year old grandson arrived at 6:05 PM. The hostess would not seat us until all arrived. Yet a table had been set up for us in a small room. Once seated the only person who came to the table, was the young man who poured water in our glasses. It was over 15 minutes before the waiter came to the table and rattled off the specials. He then started to walk away, when my son asked if he was going to take drink orders. "Oh Yeah" was the response. After the bread and appetizers were served, it was another hour before the entrees were brought to the table. I only had a coke and the waiter never asked if I wanted a refill. The others had to ask him for another drink He never asked anyone if they would like another drink. The waiter seemed to disappear and never asked if we were happy with our meals. He made very rare appearances at the table. We were in a small room which seemed to be where everyone was celebrating a birthday. Towards the end of the other customers meals the "waitress" brought a flaming sparkler and dessert out to them. When we were finished eating, no sparkler was brought out for my wife. Not that she cared one way or another, but the 2 grandchildren were looking forward to "Grammy" getting one. When the check arrived, my wife asked about the sparkler. The "waitress" said "oh yes, it was going to be a surprise". Really, I had already received the check. We all were there at 6:05 PM and when we left it was 8:55 PM. Nearly 3 hours. Something is wrong with this kind of service. Finally, we have always enjoyed going to Rick Erwins downtown Greenville, the Deli (now closed) and in Clemson. Always had GREAT service at the other Rick Erwin's. I chose the Eastside because it was convenient for the 3 families, instead of going to downtown Greenville. Never again will we go to the Eastside Rick Erwin's. read more

I went on vacation and while I was out, I stopped by Rick Erwin's because of the amazing reviews It had, the food was on point! I do have a slight complaint about our server, Saxin. I was not impressed about any of his jokes he had to say. It honestly made me want to serve myself because I was getting second hand embarrassed in front of my date. Otherwise everything else was great! The food was delightful and the restaurant was well facilitated. Saxin honestly made my experience semi unenjoyable. 5/5 for everything else, but Mr. Saxin was a NO GO! 1/5! I put a picture of him so customers know to avoid him at ALL COSTS! read more

I brought my family from out of town here for a nice steak dinner on a Monday night. The restaurant was pretty empty even for a Monday night dinner. Ambiance was nice and the waiter was very nice. Poor guy though because the kitchen was the issue of the night. They had multiple dishes unavailable because they "ran out" and they even brought out the wrong side to 2 of our entrees. We ordered the steak entrees as they come with whipped mashed potatoes and when the food was served we did not get mashed potatoes we were given cheesy polenta instead. The waiter went back to the kitchen to ask why these were substituted and the response given was that they were out of the mashed potatoes. The kitchen and the wait staff were not on the same page clearly as it was a surprise to the waiter as well. The she-crab soup had a good taste but the consistency was so thick i wouldn't suggest getting it. The drinks from the bar were great! But with all of the issues we experienced I do not recommend going back here when you have other steak restaurants 10 mins away that are amazing every time and worth the money unlike this experience. Sadly even with a bad experience going on not once was a manager sent over or any kind of support to make the experience better we had to be the ones to ask for someone to come over. I have fresh perspective and new found reason to go back to Erwins Eastside after last visit. My first stop there a year or so ago was lackluster seated up in the front small dining area. Quiet and boring. Food was great but atmosphere nothing like West End restaurant. So We went back to Eastside recently and sat at high tops in bar and really enjoyed ourselves. Great atmosphere, lively crowd, all seats packed. Service was great. Nice appetizer but also full menu available. Drinks top notch with specialty cocktails, full top shelf bar and great wines. Had a dozen east coast oysters and ahi tuna. Both delicious and elegantly presented. I had previously said it was so boring compared to West End location I would never go back. I have changed my mind based on our last visit and that's great since it is just down the road. read more

Recommended by our hotel and previously by some colleagues we decided to give it a try. The Bread Service was excellent. Hot & Fresh bread topped with some seasoning that made the olive oil dipping sauce unnecessary but that didn't stop me from leaving not a drop. I had the Chicken & Waffle with Bourbon Maple Syrup. Uniquely served on a slate shingle to keep the whole dish warm until finished. The chicken was boneless nice and crispy while remaining juicy inside. The Waffle was perfectly crisped without being overdone. I didn't taste any of the bourbon flavor in the syrup but it was good nonetheless. Other than being a bit pricey and slower than expected time to get food especially considering no appetizers, was a good experience and would recommend. read more

My fiance and I love Rick Erwins and it is the perfect date spot, especially for birthdays. The first time we went to Rick Erwins was just for a quick celebration. The wine was so good and the meals were filling. The seafood is one of a kind and cooked so well. My fiance got a steak and I got the salmon. 10/10. I would get the salmon again but I want to literally try everything on their menu. We recently just went for my fiance's birthday and the staff treated us so special. We got complimentary champagne and crème Brule for dessert. My fiance also got a signed card from the entire staff. We felt very special and pampered. The most recent time, I got the lemon drop martini and it was SO good (and strong - we like that!) My fiance got a smoked old fashion and the presentation was very impressive. For food, I got the shrimp and grits (10/10) and my fiance got a steak again with the mushrooms as a side. We also got the lobster escargot-style. Delicious. I couldn't get enough. There was a 3 course option for $39. I opted for the she-crab soup. It was good, but I've already forgotten about it 2 weeks later. My entree was the tuna and wasabi potatoes which is the most amazing food pairing I've had in a long while. It's like sushi meets comfort food. I ordered the cheesecake, but gave it away. I am sure it was great. TIP: Pay attention to the accompaniments before ordering sides. My husband and I ate here for the first time Friday night. It wasn't planned, we walked by, read the menu, and it sounded so good, we had to go in and try it. I had seared tuna, it was great. And my husband had the dry aged ribeye, it was hands down one of the best steaks I have tasted in my life. Balsamic glaze underneath, blue cheese crust on the top~~simply amazing! We were disappointed in our experience because we were looking forward to a fancy dinner and dessert to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were promptly greeted and seated and wished a happy anniversary by the hostess at 6:30. We ordered and I was very disappointed to learn that the dessert I was looking forward to with my combo meal, the key lime pie, was not available and I would receive the crème brûlée. We received rolls and later our soup. The server came by several times to apologize for the delay in our entrees and even offered a free appetizer while we waited but we were looking forward to our main course. Finally at 8:05 our main course arrived. The table next to us arrived a half hour after we did and also received their food then. We were then offered a free dessert for my husband. The food was not anywhere as good as I remember from Rick Erwin's westside. The soup was bland with little to no flavor and the mashed potatoes were tasteless. The meat and seafood were okay but not special as I remembered from the past. The server again apologized for the over 1 1/2 hour delay for our food and explained that they had a large group in their private dining are and they gave us 50% off on our dinner. We appreciated the discount but were disappointed with the taste and the extremely slow food service. read more

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here this past July. It was amazing. Our table had a reserve sign on it which was a card signed by the staff for our anniversary. The food was yummy. The service was amazing too. They gave us a drink menu, we declined the drinks. After our dinner was over they brought us our dessert with Ginger Ale...they remembered we weren't drinking. They had sparklers and took our picture. It was definitely a night to remember. I would highly recommend them for special occasions. They really go above and beyond for celebrations.
