First time here. Mother's Day treat. My husband reserved a table for 2.15pm. We arrived around 2pm. We were told there was a little wait as it was a holiday. Hostess said to wait in guest waiting area. There was no room so we went to the bar to get a drink. The Old Fashioned was very tasty. We were called to our table around 2.50pm. The Restaurant is quite dimly lit with candles all around. An intimate setting. I did notice a dirty mark on the tablecloth after we had been seated. We ordered quickly as we had time to look at the menu at the bar. The server brought some hot garlic rolls with an oil and balsamic dip. Delicious. Shepards Pie for me, Pork Chop for my husband. The Shepards pie is served in a small skillet which is extremely hot. The pie was extremely hot too so be careful! The Jalapeño muffin on the side was good (also hot) Pork chop was nicely charred and cooked perfectly, served with fries and green beans. Portions are good. I took half of mine home for the next day and still delicious. We only had room for a Creme Brûlée. My reason for a four star is the seating. We were placed in a busy walkway near the door and people were passing by a lot. I visited the bathroom which is surprisingly small only two stalls. When you stand up you almost hit your face into the coat hook on the door. Not much room to move lol I would definitely come back here again.

We came here for dinner for the first time and it was overall a good experience. We had a few issues with the cook of our food and some items on the menu were out. The manager was very nice and discounted a ton of our meals to make up for the issues which we really appreciated. The atmosphere is white table cloth and nice. Our drinks were delicious but I expected a little more from the kitchen seeing that the restaurant wasn't extremely busy.

They prepared this beautiful menu for us.

This was an amazing experience. We had my parent's 50th anniversary party in the wine room. The staff and servers were absolutely incredible. They helped us with every detail. The food was out of this world. My parents said it was the best thing anyone has ever done for them. All of our guests had a great time as well. Thank you for making this night so incredibly special for us all. I can't name all of the favorites but some of the things we enjoyed and are still talking about are the she crab soup, the bbq shrimp, the meatballs, the calamari, of course the filet which was amazing. We also had the cream brûlée and key lime pie. Everything was perfect.

Black grouper with Thai basil pesto, scallops, and a Company crab cake

We had mentioned we were there to celebrate a special occasion and were greeted with a glass of champagne. We were excited to try out their new chef's creations. The shrimp cocktail there is always excellent. We also tried fried green tomatoes, Caprese salad, and I had black grouper with a Thai basil pesto that was out of this world. It was accompanied by 2 sea scallops and I added one of their Company crab cakes. The crab cakes feature big chunks of crab with just enough filling to hold them together. We topped it off with an assortment of 2 sorbets. The staff was very professional and attentive. This restaurant has been a staple in this area for many years and we highly recommend it!

It was also delicious. The wine selection is fantastic here. The sommelier (Adam) was very friendly and knowledgeable. When booking a table, definitely make sure you do it correctly as I was not able to get through that experience correctly but even though we didn't have a reservation, there was a very nice spot in the bar area that we enjoyed. The location on Main Street (in the former Lemongrass space, I believe) is charming and comfortable, though seating can feel a bit tight unless you're lucky enough to get a booth. The atmosphere is lively but intimate. Food-wise, the salad and entrées were very good, and service was attentive throughout the evening. That said, I did leave slightly underwhelmed given the expectations that come with a Michelin-starred restaurant. One small surprise was seeing entrées served with fries as a standard--it felt a bit more casual than anticipated. Overall, it was a nice dining experience and worth trying, especially if you're into Michelin-recognized spots.

It was a beautiful day, so we chose to sit outside. It is a gorgeous view and the umbrellas provide plenty of shade. Not wanting leftovers, we chose to share the she crab soup and ribeye steak sandwich. Our waitress, Keera, was very bubbly and friendly. She suggested many different add ons and I chose the creamed corn. My only suggestion would be offering a smaller portion of this dish at lunch. It was delicious and I am glad we tried it. The ribeye sandwich and truffle fries were both exceptional. Having had she crab soups at different NC and SC restaurants, I thought theirs was just ok. Not bad, but nothing to make me want to come back just to order that specific item. Mike, the manager, was very visible throughout our whole lunch and stopped by our table to introduce himself. Overall a very positive first dining experience.

I plan for a big budget meal and am never disappointed. I must say that this experience was totally different, but just as amazing in its own way. My friend was having a work luncheon upstairs and we showed up at the end for her coworkers to meet her baby that we had in tow. We hadn't eaten yet so while they continued on to the next part of their gettogether, we snagged a table at the bar for a quick lunch. We shared the prime rib sliders and a bowl of the French onion soup. The soup was loaded with crispy onion strings on top and tons of caramelized onions down below. The prime rib sliders something I didn't realize I'd be dreaming about later. They were like the tastiest mini cheesesteaks and I could eat a platter of them if given the opportunity. It's great to see Halls from a different perspective and not as only a $500 dinner. This was the least I've ever spent at Halls but I still had an amazing experience. I need to get them on my regular lunch rotation in Charleston so I can try more of the menu.

That's why what happened this past Valentine's weekend was so disappointing. We had a 6:30 reservation and arrived at 6:25 to find the entire entryway completely packed. We understand it was Valentine's weekend and expected it to be busy, but this felt beyond busy -- it felt significantly overbooked. After finally checking in, we headed to the bar. The bartender was clearly overwhelmed (through no fault of her own), and it took about 20 minutes just to get a drink. Despite having a reservation, we weren't seated until a little after 7:30 -- over an hour wait. That is simply unheard of when you have a confirmed reservation. The only reason we stayed was because it was Valentine's Day and we knew getting in anywhere else would have been nearly impossible. The wait staff was apologetic and kind, which we genuinely appreciated because it was obvious the situation wasn't their fault. Unfortunately, the overbooking also impacted the kitchen, and our food took a long time to arrive. We didn't leave until 10:30 p.m., which is excessive for a 6:30 reservation. What was most disappointing was that there was no acknowledgment from management beyond verbal apologies from staff -- no small gesture, no complimentary glass of wine, no discount. The evening felt like a case of overbooking at the expense of both customers and employees. We hope lessons are learned from this. We've loved this restaurant for years, but we will not be returning on Valentine's Day again. It definitely left a bad taste in our mouths.

We were seated on the terrace by the door, which was less than desirable but still good. The chair I was in was awfully uncomfortable, but the benches were suitable. For food, we ordered the crispy Brussels sprouts, Earl Grey tea bread, chicken tamales, berry French toast, mushroom bruschetta and fried oysters. The Brussels were good and perfectly cooked. The Earl Grey tea bread was good, but too sweet for me (not a sweets person). My friends ordered the chicken tamales and berry French toast, respectively, and enjoyed their meal. For me, the menu didn't have anything that caught my eye, so I made a meal of the small plates. I love mushrooms, but I felt that the mushrooms in the bruschetta needed to be chopped. Their meaty texture and large pieces made it less than desirable, even though the flavor was good. The oysters were well-cooked and served in an ample portion, but with cocktail sauce rather than aioli. When asked, she brought me the paprika aioli that's on the Brussels sprouts. Still, I think a lemon-and-herb aioli or a lemon-and-horseradish aioli would have been more appropriate for a fresh brightness to cut through the breading. It was almost a good meal, but oftentimes the devil is in the details.
