2 tacos el pastor, guac and chips
    Irena S.

Came here on a Tuesday, party of 2. I got 2 el pastor tacos and a side of guac and chips. If you're driving, the easiest place to park in my opinion is the Trader Joe's parking lot , with a quick stroll to the restaurant. We came around 1pm, but quickly after that a bigger lunch rush came and there was a longer line out the door. Don't get this location confused with the vegan version nearby! Pros: - Easy menu to navigate, which they have at the register (although I would recommend you make your decision quickly if there's a lot of people waiting). They give you a number which you can take to your table inside or outside. - Great for small parties of 2, cute seating inside and outside seating if you prefer. - delicious guac!!! comes with lots of chips - self-serve water glasses - easy process to bus your own plates/dishes and trash inside - delicious tortillas, house made! - 2 tacos and guac was pretty filling for me! Very hearty meal and really hit the spot - Fast casual vibe - Very Oakland coded! Cons: - can be busy lunch or dinner, and not great for larger parties due to sitting space. Parking can be hard if the Trader Joe's lot is full, or if you don't like walking through areas that smell like urine (this doesn't phase me but if this bothers you, you might not like this area lol)

Rico Rico on Lakeshore is a staple for the best fried fish tacos. We frequent this location often, and the easy going nature of the location, combined with its convenient proximity to things like Trader Joe's make it a prime location. With later evening hours, the quick and friendly service can get you what you need so you're fed and can be on your way. Though a small location, Rico Rico is kept clean and the staff are quick to provide assistance with any needs during your visit. The location also boasts an interior glass window, which allows the restaurant team to see their customers and for customers to get a peek at all the activity in the kitchen, without being bombarded by the scent of food preparation. This location gets quite busy at lunch each day, so plan accordingly and park strategically. In addition to this primary location, there is a near by Rico Rico Vegano for all the vegan heads out there. We've had their burritos, chips and guac, but always come back to our beloved pescado tacos. Great location with service and quality eats.

I ordered through doordash & it came really quick! The Al Pastor burrito was hands down my favorite. It was packed w flavor and had nice ratio of all ingredients. The carne asada burrito was delicious as well, but that al pastor was definitely a must have. The horchata wasn't too sweet and it was perfect. I've visited this location before & its located in the lakeshore area so it may be hard to find parking. There is seating inside and its nice. But i rather just grab and go! I definitely recommend this spot.

Best tacos by Lake Merritt for sure. I didn't go enough when I lived here but whenever I'm back in Oakland and by the lake I try to stop by! The Al pastor is seasoned so well and the pineapple slice is ‍ it's a pretty chill vibe inside and there are some limited tables outside as well.

Small place with about 6 tables but the chairs are comfy for bigger folks. Ordering was easy and efficient. Customer service was great. I had three tacos which came out to $18. Salsa comes in packets like Taco Bell. They do have habanero salsa for my spice queens. Tacos are tasty Parking is awful.

Great service! Burrito Bowl was incredible! All the flavors and toppings! I completely devoured it

Just recently discovered Rico Rico and it has easily become our new favorite spot. We've ordered takeout a few times from here now and each time hit the spot! I highly recommend their burritos! The carne asada is my favorite. They do not skimp out and give a perfect ration of meat, rice and beans. The tacos are another amazing item. Although it's a bit pricey, it's totally worth it for the tortilla and delicious goodness! They package it nicely in containers separating out each taco, which is nice especially if you're getting different meats. The meat options are great, each is flavorful and also not fatty cuts of meat! My fav salsa is their green salsa, I cannot get enough of it. I also love the pouch packaging it comes in, makes it easier to add a little salsa at a time onto my burrito with each bite. If you're looking for some good food then definitely check out Rico Rico!

Just needed to grab a quick bite before a screening at Grand Lake and a friend recommended Rico Rico. What a great tip! Quick, efficient, and delicious. Especially loved the crispy carnitas, but the fish was also yummy.

Food was good Enjoyed the burrito. Wasn't dry and the sauce was *kiss* Shrimp tacos were ok, I usually only like deep fried shrimp tacos so this is a bias statement Service friendly. they're so busy so there's a bit of a wait, but you can watch them cook. Family ambiance but limited seating.

Tried the Al Pastor and Carnitas tacos--both packed with flavor, though a bit too spicy for my taste. They were definitely on the greasy side, but super filling, so you won't leave hungry. Great for a hearty, indulgent taco fix if you can handle a little heat.

Super fast, super fresh, super flavorful. That's Rico Rico! Absolutely enjoyed this bright, buzzing taco joint near Lake Merritt. Grabbed some tacos with my friends before a movie at the Grand Lake Theatre, and we were in-and-out in about 30 minutes. Definitely the perfect casual spot to grab dinner before a movie or walk around the park. Seating is limited for groups above 4, but there are plenty of small tables both inside and outside. Water is self-serve, and you order at the counter but they deliver it to your table. Quick service! My favorite part was how the kitchen has an open window so you can watch them prepare your meal-- amazing to see how well their team works together to bring fast, fresh food. Al pastor was my fav, but both the carne asada and fish tacos held their own. Small packets of house-made sauce was more than enough for my three tacos. Be sure not to confuse this location with Rico Rico Vegano around the corner -- I assume it's the vegan branch of the restaurant, but it confused some of our party who ended up waiting at the wrong store!

This will be one of my go-tos when visiting the Oakland area. They are not lacking on flavor! Rico Rico has mastered this, flavor. The pollo(chicken) quesadilla 10/10. The carne asada and soyrizo tacos 10/10. The camaron(shrimp) taco 1/10; the texture of the vegan shrimp was too odd and the taco itself was overwhelming it had so many toppings. The esquites 10/10. Jamaica drink 10/10. If you're looking for some delicious vegan eats, stop looking and order Rico Rico now. P.S. those house salsas are so good, they should bottle and sell it!

Al pastor burrito is legit. One of the better burritos I had in a while. Would be top tier if it came with avocado or guac and sour cream.

Are the flour tortillas made fresh as well?

    Yes and they are delicious!

Where are the ingredients from? High quality Meats? Is this like Cactus on College -- high quality ingredients? Can't tell from the menu / no website

Can't officially answer this but based off eating there the ingredients variety and taste definitely gives the impression that it is higher quality than Cactus (which I have also enjoyed)

From the outside, it looks like a straightforward taco truck, but wow was I surprised. I ordered the Carnitas Super Taco, which came loaded with lettuce, cheese, cilantro, onions, sour cream, and guacamole. Everything was fresh, well seasoned, and packed with flavor. My only complaint? You only get one taco per order because I definitely could've eaten another. The Kid ordered the Carne Asada Super Taco and before we even pulled away, she was asking for a second one. That's usually a pretty good sign. We also tried the horchata and jamaica, and both were delicious. The horchata was creamy and flavorful, while the jamaica was refreshing and not overly sweet. What surprised me most was how quickly they got the food out, especially considering how popular this spot seems to be. A few things to know: * Cash or Venmo only * Parking can be a challenge, but it's worth it * Keep an eye out for the new speed cameras in the area Their hours are another plus: Open daily, 9:30am- midnight Overall, this was one of those pleasant surprises that reminds you not to judge a place by appearances. No tables and chairs outside - just pure to-go. Parking is limited to street parking with many of the spaces taken by Lake Merritt visitors. There was a constant flow of customers when I went during non-peak dining hours, so I'd assume that they have lines during other times. The steak fries were a bit bland with too much sour cream and less of everything else making the fries a bit soggy. The sauces did a lot of the heavy lifting to make this dish a bit more enjoyable. I would definitely come back to try their burritos and tacos - which are what they are most known for (I just was craving steak fries that day). The main reason I never went before was the parking situation, which honestly can be a little challenging, but for this visit we found parking down the block and around the corner. The short walk after dinner ended up being nice anyway. We had reservations, although we did wait about 15 extra minutes while another party finished their meal. My family member pointed out they were enjoying drinks, so that probably added some time. The waiter was very friendly, attentive, and clearly trying to get us seated as quickly as possible. Water was brought to the table right away, and our drink order was taken promptly. I ordered the chicken salad and was pleasantly surprised to learn the mango vinaigrette dressing did not contain oils, since I personally avoid seed oils. The salad was fresh and delicious. Some of my family members ordered the buffet, which looked incredible. At first it seemed like too much food for me that day, but once I saw everything included, I started thinking maybe I should have ordered it too since it was only about seven dollars more. They brought complimentary chips, guacamole, and salsa to the table, and everything was so flavorful. The guacamole was especially delicious, and they happily refilled the chips several times. I finally understood why the restaurant is called "Los Moles" because their mole sauces are outstanding. I got to try some from my son's plate, and it definitely made me want to come back and explore more of the different mole options. They also offer vegetarian choices, which is great. Although I am very particular about cooking surfaces, my food is cooked on and in, the Mexican coffee which was heated in some type of who knows what metal, had a good flavor. It inspired me to re-create it at home. Another standout for me was the freshly made corn tortillas served with the meals. They were soft, warm, and incredibly good. I also tried the beans, which were full of flavor. Overall, this restaurant really stood out in my memory, and I definitely want to return someday to try more moles.

We are in search of a Baja fish taco that is satisfying since both of the places we loved either closed or stopped serving the baja style. We went to Mersea earlier for the views and to check out TI and it was uninspiring so we rambled back to the east bay and decided to try Mercado. Reviews looked good (thanks y'all, I appreciate you) and despite a few misses on the baja taco (according to some reviews) we decided to take a run at it. The man was feeling jaded after the am stop and wasn't going for the fish, I stayed neutral...no one wants their little taco loving heart broken twice in one day...ultimately, he decided to try the fish taco plate with 1 baja and one grilled. I had the poblano mole tacos w/chicken. We shared the guacamole with chips. I had cafe de olla (it is called something else here) and he had the mocktail with the ginger beer. The ordering at the counter wasn't my favorite but the spot was pretty quiet for a Friday midday and the service was still exceptional. They were attentive and responsive. I would definitely go back at the same time cuz I don't like crowds. On to the food. Dayum! Everything was good. Well seasoned, beautifully plated, and sufficient serving size. I pigged out. For real...I waddled out of that joint. Brought every drop of the leftovers home so I could have the chocolate custard (DAYUM) for dessert with the remnants of my coffee. Him: he preferred the baja style to the grilled fish. As some others have said, it can fall apart (really stuffed with goodness) but he didn't want his fixins on the side. VERDICT: he'll be back for that taco. Me: I enjoyed the mole but the chicken in chunks didn't work for me. I would have preferred it shredded. I'll try something else next time and there will be a next time. Oh, and the black beans and green rice were flavorful as well. Standing order: guacamole and chips Cafe Chocolate custard... What? We got the crispy rice pork salad, this is served with lettuce leaves and herbs and a wedge of lime. I loved this dish - the crispy rice and ground pork combination was balanced and the squeeze of lime juice made for a perfect bite wrapped in a lettuce leaf with mint and cilantro. Next was the Bird & Buffalo Chicken wings, perfectly crispy and tossed in salt and pepper. Good for folks who don't enjoy the spice. We also got the grilled pork spare ribs to share, which folks enjoyed. For entrees we had the drunken noodles with pork, green curry with rice and massaman curry with rice. I could have done with a spicier version of the green curry, but it was flavorful and satisfying. Overall, a solid spot for Thai food - we will be back to sample some of their other dishes too!
