Higher than a 3 lower than a 4. Give it a 3.7. I have lived in Argentina and visited 2x. Been here twice. Not fair to compare it to authentic Argentine in country places. Never going to get there because quality of ingredients is different. The Lomito sandwich is really good. The Choripan slightly resembles a Chori in Cordoba but again after having the real thing, not fair. Empanadas were good, right mix of ingredients but the masa is a little thin. read more

While living here several years ago, I always wanted to visit this place. Recently, I finally had the opportunity to visit. This place is situated on the corner of Folsom and Arapahoe. I LOVE empanadas and other Argentinian food. I very much enjoyed my visit to Rincon Argentino! The interior is decorated very nicely and there is ample seating. They also have a nice freezer section where various empanadas, blood sausages and other items are sold. I ended up buying a tray of their traditional frozen empanadas. I also bought a small tub of dipping sauce of dipping sauce for the empanadas. The traditional empanadas have steak, onions, red bell pepper, green olives and spices. The dipping sauce I bought has guacamole and various spices that make it a wonderful compliment to the empanada. I also ordered a traditional empanada and dipping sauce for dine-in. I also ordered a traditional Yerba mate. It's served in a traditional gourd with metal straw. They also provide a nice metal thermos with plenty of hot water inside. The gourd is filled to the brim with plenty of tea leaves. The traditional empanada was baked to perfection, not over or under baked. Steak was delicious and the spices blended very well. If you're having a snack, I recommend only one empanada. If you're having lunch, I recommend 2 or perhaps 3, depending on how hungry you are. I loved the traditional Yerba mate. It was nice to enjoy it in the traditional gourd and metal straw. I enjoyed sitting in the dining area, people watching, and enjoying my drink along with food. This is a nice place to stop for a drink or snack while doing some work on your laptop. It's also great for meeting friends. They were very busy for lunch on a national holiday (MLK JR Day). I would love to return here the next time I'm in Boulder. I recommend checking this place out for anyone visiting the area of if you live in Boulder and haven't checked it out yet. My friend and I came here after hiking. Each empanada is about $4.10 and they have a wide selection. I chose their traditional and hongo (mushroom) one and absolutely enjoyed it. They are made on the spot, so it can take some time before you get your order, but it is well worth the wait. You also get a side of chili (with different levels of spiciness) to dip your empanadas in and it definitely gave the food more of a punch. Plenty of seatings both inside and outside are available. Parking is quite small, but there is a big parking lot behind the store. Because there are so many different types of empanadas, they have a diagram of which empanadas is which! While waiting in line to go inside, someone suggested that we try the terere drink, so we also ordered that. Once we paid, I was given a cup to get some terere, which has iced yerba mate, orange juice, lemons, mint, and agave. It was pretty interesting! It does have an acquired taste, so my friend didn't care for it very much. We both enjoyed the empanadas a lot though. I'm glad that they reheated it in the oven as well. I got a mushroom, a spinach and a cheese empanada. The mushroom and spinach ones were bland both in the way of seasoning and general excitement of flavors. The cheese one was the best of my three and with the avocado salsa was tasty. The cheese and my husbands lifted this from a 3 to 4 star. The hubs got a chicken and chorizo, chicken and a beef empanada. He thought the chicken and chorizo combo was the best of the bunch. After reading the great reviews of the empanadas here, I knew I needed to try them when we visited Boulder. Covid-19: you can order and pay online. They also offer curbside pickup. My husband and I split 4 empanadas and a choripan sandwich. The empanadas we tried were Carne Picante, Jamón y Queso, Choclo, and Caprese. I think the Choclo was my favorite. It was this creamy corn sauce that was amazingly delicious. I also loved the Jamón y Queso and the Caprese. The Carne Picante was good, but I love cheese so I preferred those with cheese. I really loved the choripan sandwich as well. It was simple and surprisingly delicious. My favorite sauces were chimichiri and salsa verde. We also got flan and an Alfajor cookie for dessert. The cookie was amazing, but it's one tiny cookie for $3.50. My only complaint was the portion size/price. Everyone said 2-3 empanadas was enough, but we were both still hungry. They were very small so $4 seemed kind of expensive. After spending $16-20 per person, for a meal, I would expect to be full. I was SO excited to finally try Rincon because I am obsessed with empanadas! However, I was really disappointed with the food. I got the gaucho, patagonia, carne picante, hongos, and jamón y queso. The patagonia was by far the best and very delicious. The hongos (mushroom) one was okay but definitely needed the side sauce with it. The jamón y queso (ham and cheese) was okay but had one small slice of ham in it and the rest was filled with cheese and I ended up taking out over half of the cheese that was inside because it was too much.
