I come in here about every day and have been meaning to write a review . The staff is extremely friendly they are patient and happy to explain menu items. Their drinks are delicious . I've been looking for a place with great sea salt coffee since I moved from Orange County. This place has that and more. I also feel the ingredients they use are high quality/not too acidic as I don't get a headache after having their coffee. I really enjoy their tofu Donuts, I usually get the chocolate chip. The decorations are also really cute and trendy. I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for a good spot to meet up with friends or if you just need to grab a quick drink in the morning. I have tried many many matcha lattes before and Ring definitely has the best one! Most are too sweet and/or mostly milk but the ones here are perfect! Luckily I don't live too close by otherwise I might stop here every single day! The donuts are delicious as well! read more

These are amazing. The flavors achieved are incredible. I was so skeptical at first but I am truly converted to baked tofu donuts. They're so light and delicate while packing massive authentic flavor. Some donuts like the Honey or Matcha actually have multiple notes of flavor as you chew. Look at the ingredients they use too! Everything is clean and locally sourced where possible. You gotta try this place. It's a taste experience that's easily accessable and genuinely delicious. Do it. Get a coffee while you're there too. It's easy to miss this place because of where it is located. I have only tried one drink (sea salt iced mocha) both times I've been here, so I can't give a review for any other drinks. The donuts are yummy! I was very surprised. What I like apart from these is the atmosphere. It has a very cozy feel to it and is a great place to catch up with a friend. Fans of Miyazaki films and Pokémon will love the decorations all around. I will definitely come back and try more drinks. Discovered this place one day while I decided to take a walk around the office. First thought when I saw the sign saying Tofu Donut, wtf? Being open minded I went in & noticed the various kinds of donuts all Tofu base. Surprisingly delicious. To top it off they have French Press Coffee. Typical super cute Japanese packaging. I wouldn't call these great but worth checking out. I tried red velvet, cheese and earl grey. Only the earl grey was ok. My overall impression is meh. tastes more like eating a dense muffin since its heavier than a sponge cake. Let me first start off by saying, watch out... Because tofu donuts are takin over America! The people running the show here at ring are onto something special I think. They are located next to a mental health facility, which I found was kind of odd, but also unique none the less. Parking here was super easy, there's a visitor lot for the building. Most of their coffee here is in a Japanese style with sea salt, which if you haven't tried it before, lemme tell ya, it's bomb! I ordered a sea salt iced mocha. Very good! I also got a half dozen tofu donuts because I figured why not just dive in head first to this tofu revolution. I tried the maple bacon donut and the double chocolate and they were both scrumptious! My only complaint is I thought they were kind of pricey $$. Another cool thing I saw about their menu is that they use a Kangan water filtration and alkalinity system for their water. It makes their water alkalized, or to have a higher PH level. Also very unique! Their coffee was so good, I will definitely be back if I'm in the area again. read more

Wait what??? Tofu? Donut? Sounds weird tastes amazing!!!!! I drove by and saw this sign that said"Baked Tofu Donuts". I was intrigued by the baked part(my stomach doesn't do fried foods well) but tofu??? All the ingredients are organic and fresh. The people inside are amazingly friendly and helpful. The donuts are a cake donut type donut with no frosting. They have such great flavor and texture it is not needed. The chocolate, red velvet, lemon, apricot and pumpkin are great, full of flavor, sweet and not overboard. BUt the one the really makes a splash is the maple bacon. The sweet burst of maple flavor and nice size pieces of bacon, real bacon, not crumbs but actual pieces of pork goodness. The match green tea and the salted ice coffee are good and tasty. Yes it is a little pricey compared to a regular donut shop(2.50 a donut) but it is worth especially when you know the quality and time that is put in to each batch. As well if you have a sensitive stomach like me. Try you will love it, and be hooked. read more

As one reviewer below mentioned, if you're expecting typical donuts then you will be disappointed. These are small, fluffy sponge-cake like desserts (similar to a bundt cake texture) that are delicious! I was a little wary eating tofu donuts but pleasantly surprised. I got a box with red velvet, matcha green tea, apricot, rum raisin, maple bacon, and blueberry. The red velvet and blueberry were ok, with very light flavor. I wasn't too impressed with the maple bacon either...Light maple flavor and the small bacon strips added saltiness but if I hadn't known what flavor I was eating then I wouldn't have been able to guess it was maple bacon. My favorite was the rum raisin, and matcha and apricot were great too. However, it's little pricy considering it's $3+ for the size of the donut. If I return I would probably just get rum raisin and try a couple new ones. read more

I love this place! On Vanowen and Owensmouth. Parking is in rear off of Owensmouth and is free on Saturday - the only day I can get there. Open 10am to 4pm on Saturdays. The owners/employees are so nice! The variety of donut flavors is wonderful! And, they're made of tofu - not that you'd know it. Get a donut and a tea for a quick healthy protein pick me up snack! What a cute little corner cafe and what a unique take on the donut! I was sweetly greeted by Aya upon entering Ring, who introduced me to each flavor of their baked tofu donuts. I ordered the vanilla (which Aya explained is on their limited edition menu because they use very expensive vanilla beans to make them) and their matcha green tea donut. Aya kindly asked if I wanted them heated up, and of course I said yes! I also ordered a sweetened matcha green tea - absolutely refreshing and just the right amount of sweetness (light but balanced with the bitterness of matcha). Within a couple of minutes, Aya handed me a small paper bag with two beautifully-packaged donuts inside (along with a detailed explanation of the ingredients used to make the donuts and where the ingredients come from) and my drink. There is so much dainty detail put into the display, presentation, and packaging here, which I really appreciate. The donuts themselves taste more like lightly sweetened cakes than a traditional donut, which I don't mind because they are transforming the traditional donut! The flavors in each donut I tried were light and subtle, but distinct. I liked how springy and light each donut was. I felt like I was eating something elegant and very thoughtfully made. If you're worried about the idea of tofu donuts, let me assure you that they don't taste like tofu at all - more like a moist cake that happens to be shaped like a donut. The actual product tastes alright, and has the added points of being a unique "healthier" sweet treat. To some people, eating a dessert that tastes like regular cake but with more protein is probably why this place is so popular. Don't get me wrong, these "donuts" taste good. But these are still made of sugar and flour, so I wouldn't get carried away and eat half a dozen all at once. In my opinion, to call this a donut is a bit misleading, even if you already know that it is baked tofu not fried dough. My 2/5 rating is mainly because the donuts were not what I was expecting, and because I felt they were overpriced for what you were getting. They are way smaller than your typical donut, perhaps even smaller than a krispy kreme, yet they are selling them for more at $2.50-2.75 each. I never had a tofu in a dessert, other than the tofu in sweet syrup at dim sum. Thus, I was looking forward to an entirely unique texture perhaps due to the baking of the tofu dough or at least something with an airy and light texture of a traditional donut. However, I was underwhelmed. It felt like your average cake or banana bread: moist and dense. Especially for the chocolate and red velvet flavors, I didn't feel like I was eating a donut. I felt like I was eating a chocolate or red velvet cupcake that happened to be in a ring. The only thing "donut-esque" about these deserts is the shape. With the cupcake business on the outs, I think that shape was a smart choice. But the ring is the only reason one would call this a "donut." Maybe they should amp up the donut qualities by adding unique glazes, toppings, or even concocting a filled version. I'd definitely be interested in a earl grey tofu donut with some black sesame filling, light lemon glaze, and something crunchy on top. Until then, I don't think these are for me. I don't see myself returning. However, I'm still glad I tried them. Ring is worth a try if you are interested in how easily tofu can be incorporated and disguised into a dessert! read more
