Abreula's Tamale- good old fashion tamale with chicken, peas, carrot bits.

Great Tasty Food, super Clean dining area, Service is friendly and courteous! Good prices too! Good place to go for a quick bite. Gonna go again and try more like specialty tacos.

Best tamale ever!!! Tacos are soooooo delicious, guac is fresh and tasty, pepper with cheese inside was yummy. Their tacos are just way better than I have ever had elsewhere. Amazing. Just amazing!

Good restaurant. It was clean with plenty of seating. Food came out fast. They have two different taco sizes. The street tacos are smaller so I opted to go with that. The al pastor taco was good, the pineapple was mixed in with the meat and it had some spice to it. The chicken taco was good as well but less flavorful. The rice and beans were ok, not amazing but not bad. They have Jones soda for their fountain drinks, I really liked the diet soda. They also have a freezer of popsicles.

We tried this place based on Yelp reviews, and I was a bit disappointed. Located in a strip mall and there was ample parking. You order at the counter and service was ok, not over friendly. Your food is brought to your table, but we had to get napkins and utensils. My husband tried the carne asada street tacos and I had a al pastor bowl. The portions were fine. I would have liked chips and salsa to be included One small container of salsa is included, but a second comes with a charge. Food was pricey considering what you received.

Riobamba is a Yelp gem and I discovered it when I needed great place in Glenview to meet out of town guests for an impromptu lunch. Located off the beaten path that is Waukegan Road, you'll find a clean and cozy store front with time and talent spent where it matters: Flavor and a not overdone zippy decor. The space was clean and fresh with attention given to the details. The owner was on point and answered some questions I had about which tacos he'd recommend based on customer traffic. Originally, I was going to go chicken and steak, but then he suggested the lunch taco special: Brisket...sold! Steak and brisket for the win and my group's order was place. Service for six was handled by a friendly staff....chips and guac arrived and was a great start to our meal and catching-up conversation. Out next, our lunch entrees...all correct and all looking good! Our party had salad, tacos, and tamale...several came with rice and beans. My tacos were exceptional. The 15 hour owner-smoked brisket was a winner while the steak was a worthy contender bite for bite. Great flavor, great service, and smiles all around from staff make Riobamba a stop I will visit once again even though I'd come from Arlington Heights to do so. This restaurant is hidden in the back of a plaza so it is a little harder to find. It is a small modest restaurant with one server. Our server was nice. Their street tacos is amazing. If I were to rate this restaurant purely on the tacos and their service this place would get five star rating. Everything else we tried were okay. They need to work on their rice, bean, and tamales. I would come back for only for the tacos.

Ordered delivery to check this place out and the only good thing I have to say is the steak tacos kinda reminded me of La Pasadita in the city on Ashland. Kind of a garlic roasted taste. Not bad. Lots of meat. The tamale was probably one of the worst I've ever had, it tasted like mashed potatoes instead of corn/masa. Very bland throughout. I couldn't differentiate between the meat and veggies. Everything was so mushy. I tossed it out. The rice and beans were also extremely bland and just BLAH. The salsa verde was good, average. The "roja" salsa tasted like bbq sauce, no hint of spice, or even cilantro. Just sweet and gooey. If I'm ever desperate for some steak tacos, I might order again, but literally only the steak tacos.

Riobamba has been on my bookmarked list since it opened in Glenview. I have read the reviews and seen photos on yelp. On a Tuesday night, my daughter and I finally came here to try it out. There is ample parking in the small commercial strip where Riobamba is all the way behind the other small establishments. Once we went inside, the person at the counter greeted us, as my daughter and I looked at the menu. Here are the things that I have tried: TOSTONES- I wanted the Maduros but my daughter mistakenly ordered this. It basically tasted like deep fried batter and no taste of the plantain at all. LAMB TACO- This was a featured taco for the day. The lamb was very tender, flavorful and delicious. I liked that the taco did not have too much garnishing on top of the meat. STEAK TACO- The steak was tender but there was not much flavor. SHRIMP TACO- The 3 pieces of shrimp were seasoned well but they were covered with too much cabbage plus the onions and cilantro. HORNADO- The pork was very tender but I found this dish flat. The hominy, pico and cabbage slaw didn't add much flavor as well. RICE & BEANS- they were both dry. Overall, the prices are reasonable and they put a good amount of protein in the dishes. The service was efficient and pleasantly quiet. The place is clean and it is also BYOB. Maybe I will try their other dishes next time because on this first visit, my daughter and I agreed that this is not on our list of our favorite places.

We came by and picked up a few tacos for a light dinner on their $2 Taco Tuesday. They were in ok range I would say and you pretty much get what you pay for. These were pretty skimpy on the protein and the chirozo tasted just like the Al Pastor taco if they were in fact different. We tried their $2 offerings and they were stated by the owner (to another customer) to be smaller than their regular priced tacos. We had two Al Pastor, a chorizo, a ground beef, and a chicken taco. The $4 side of yuca fries was also skimpy but quite tasty. Happy to see they survived and toughed out the worst of the Covid period.

We came back and so happy we did! The food was delicious and the service is very friendly. This time we took pics. The smoky beef brisket taco is a must try and the loaded nachos are very loaded They allow byob which was nice. Atmosphere is festive.. Next time we'll bring our friends. Truly a hidden gem!

Delicious Loaded Tamale!!! Highly recommended. Fresh food. Wonderful flavors , seasonings. Love the Roja red salsa. Good food. Great

The only minor drawback was that the added protein felt a bit sparse, so I would likely skip paying extra for that on the next visit. As for the kids, they completely devoured the chicken quesadillas before I even got a chance to try a bite, which is a ringing endorsement in itself. The tacos here diverge from traditional street tacos. Instead of a light balance, they pack in a much higher meat-to-topping ratio. We tried the barbacoa and chicken tinga, both of which were expertly prepared and packed with rich, delicious flavor. However, because they are so heavily loaded and juicy, the tortillas simply could not maintain structural integrity. It was impossible to pick them up and eat them like standard tacos, but attacking them with a fork solved the problem easily enough. A special shoutout goes to the house-made salsas. Both the red and green options were outstanding and elevated every bite. Overall, the atmosphere and quality land right in that sweet spot--an upgraded, elevated step above a chain like Chipotle, while still being more casual than a sit-down, traditional Mexican restaurant. Paired with exceptionally friendly staff service, it was a great experience and a spot we would happily return to. Great outdoor seating.

Everything came out fresh, flavorful, and delicious. It's a fun, trendy little spot in the heart of Northbrook. I was catching up with a friend, so we stayed for quite a while, and the restaurant became very busy. Unfortunately, it seemed like they were a bit understaffed. Our server checked on us only occasionally, so service wasn't as attentive as it could have been. Overall, though, the excellent food made for a very enjoyable experience.

It appears that this is the last week they will be in this location, but they are moving to a larger location right in the Glen. However, we were able to get seated right away on a Saturday evening in this smaller location. We let our sweet waitress know we were in a little bit of a rush before a movie and wanted to place our orders right away. I ordered the shrimp fajitas and my son ordered the nacho entree with chicken. While waiting we munched on complimentary chips and salsa, although my son had plenty of chips coming. The chips were tasty- not too salty like i find many tortilla chips to be at Mexican restaurants. Ten minutes after ordering our entrees arrived. The nacho entree was absolutely huge, but that didn't stop by 9 year old from devouring every last bite. It wasn't the healthiest of meals although he did get plenty of chicken and veggies. I've never really met a fajita entree i didn't like until this one. I tried a little bit of it all- the shrimp, rice, beans and veggies...and all just incredibly bland. I ate a few shrimp so i wouldn't be starving and indulge in too many movie popcorn or sweets, but it just wasn't very good. If i were to give this place another chance I'd order something else next time and its likely we'll be trying it again (in their new location) because my son really liked those nachos.
