We had been to Ritmos Cafe twice during our trip. We liked that there is no fee to rent a chair or umbrella just as long as you order drinks and/or food. There is no minimum spend either. Weekend afternoons are busy so we did have to wait a bit to find space as we were a group of 7. Weekday however was much easier. They were able to accommodate our big group of 14. Food is okay, not great but also not bad. Staffs were wonderful. They made sure we had enough shade and tables. They also kept checking in on us. There was no pressure to order more. Credit cards are accepted. Do remember to get an invoice though. Prices were fair. read more

Drinks are great and strong and affordable. The waiter Ariel was rarely seen here and he was supposed to be helping us. But didn't see us often. We just returned from a week in Puerto Vallarta and four of those days we spent at Ritmos Beach (Green Chairs). It's amazing how quickly they put up the umbrellas, and they are very responsive if you ask to move or need you umbrella tilted or want to move. We always had plenty of shade. The food and drink are reasonably priced. The guacamole and ceviche were very tasty. We also enjoyed the chicken strips, fried calamari and fried shrimp. I wasn't a huge fan of the fries, but McDonalds fries are one of my favorites and these are not nearly as crispy. I found everyone to be very friendly. The level of service really depended on who was waiting on you. Bernardo was fantastic. The water can be a little rough with some surprisingly big waves that pull you under if you are not watching out. read more

We arrived early to the beach to get a Chair. We were ignored by the staff and all of the chairs were reserved on the beach. Staff were rude and didn't want to bother with us. What's the point of turning away paying customers when there is nothing but empty chairs that many don't even use or show up for hours later? I have never had this experience there before and definitely won't be back. They don't care about there loyal customers. They have the comfy sling back chairs and umbrellas that are numbered and lettered to identify your location. Service is always fantastic, food is great, drinks are good. This place is a casual hang out that also does it right. I come here often on lazy beach vacation days to people watch, have table service drinks, walk the beach and watch the sunset. My last Puerto Vallarta trip I did not have a pool or beach at my hotel, and this makes for a great alternative. You can typically always find a chair and a service within minutes. There is no cover charge, just expected to eat and drink. Feels safe here too and nice restrooms. read more

In short, amazing food! Service was fine, although it was a bit difficult to get their attention to get seated (I think they concentrate on serving the beach goers). It was worth it though! Kiddos loved their shakes and my margarita was the best I've ever had for US$6! I had the ceviche which was fresh and fantastic. My honey had the Baja salad and it was gone in a blink. The real highlight was the kid's shrimp platters! I was worried when I saw so much food come out, but let me tell you this was the best breaded shrimp I've ever had - nothing from Sysco here! Fresh breading with cornflakes, fried to perfection. What the kids didn't finish, I did! And then I figured I should try the fries. OMG - they are amazing! They must have very fresh fry oil and I don't know what else they did to these potatoes to make them turn out so scrumptious. Coming from the Midwest, I wouldn't expect to find the best fried food in PV, much less at a beach cafe, so I am overwhelmed at how amazing it was. read more

Another year, another update. FOOD: Shrimp & Avocado Salad - $8.00 After seeing a friend eating this, I had to get it as it looked so good. For just $8, I got fresh green leaf lettuce tossed in a balsamic vinegar dressing, topped with diced fresh tomatoes, eight peeled & crunchy shrimp, sliced red onions (which I removed) and crunchy crostini's. Highly recommended! SERVICE: This is still hit or miss but not a huge deal. The guys do work hard in the heat and treading over sand while in sneakers all day long. This was our first time going to Ritmos on a PV trip. It was great. I now prefer it over Mantamar (at least if you're looking to sit on the beach). Ask for Bernardo, if he's there. He was an amazing waiter. He went above and beyond. We got there very late in the day, so we were seated in the back but he said he'd move us to the front once something became available. And by the time we had our first drink, he was moving us. He arranged the chairs, tables and umbrellas perfectly and kept our table clean the entire time. He constantly checked on us and was just amazing overall. Plus, the food and drinks were amazing and with great prices. I highly recommend Bernardo. read more

Casual gay beach club. Chair rental and umbrella is free with drinks if food. Bring your own towel. Food is average. Drink prices are good. Service is good and honest. You can go swim in the ocean without worry of theft. No pool onsite. They play dance music. If you want a more upscale experience with a pool go to Mantamar. read more

This is our favorite gay beach to go to. Also as far as we can tell the only ones that are trying to space out the tables/spaces and doing what they can to follow the health guidelines. We can't say anything about the food since I have never tried, often we will graze on the traveling food that is being sold on beach and just buy drinks. The staff is hard working and attentive but also not in your face. On some days we drank a lot and others we took it easy, we never felt any pressure from staff to buy more or got any stink eye when just getting a few cheap beers. This is why I would say it is the best gay beach (or not gay) in this town. Please tip those guys well. read more

I sort of have a love-hate relationship with "Green Chairs" - on one hand, the location is fantastic, the drinks are strong and inexpensive, the weather is perfect, and the food is certainly passable (especially after four margaritas). On the other hand, the service can be very spotty, during crowded times your view may just be a bunch of loud drunk tourists between you and the water, you're constantly harassed by vendors (Weed? Blow?), and there are definitely speakers blasting Shakira from the south, Enrique Iglesias from the north, and traditional Mexican folk music from the east. All at the same time. Which can be really grating. Caveat emptor. read more

My husband and I stopped by early and the morning for a light breakfast, on the beach. All chairs are beach chairs with a tiny table to set your food on. Food was ok, it's a beach spot so I didn't expect much, service was great though. We had drinks right away and our food was brought out promptly. 4.750 stars. I am so happy with this place. Such a perfect atmosphere, with good food, delicious drinks, and wonderful service here in the heart of the romantic zone. We went in between Christmas and New Year's. We'd never been to PV before, but some friends who have gone many times swear by this place, and we can see why. We had the same waiter, Luis, for 3 consecutive days while there, and he was friendly and attentive all three days and remembered us as our group grew from 5 to 9. This is a very popular section of the beach, so it may be difficult to find chairs/umbrellas, but Luis had our section reserved for us each day when we got there. On the last day, a few more friends came and it took a long time and some effort for us to get more seating, but this is what happens when you are popular. The margaritas were really wonderful, about 60 pesos ($3) each. Try the pina colada (yum!) and the Miami Vice (pina colada/strawberry margarita). Food was very reasonable as well, and for a whole day of drinking and eating beachside, we spent about $20-25/day each (so cheap!). We are already planning our next trip to PV, and we are looking forward to coming back! read more

First visit since 2 previous trips to PV were cancelled due to covid. All staff is wearing masks, and stuff appears to be wiped down. All umbrellas are spaced apart at least 6 feet. The beach clubs to the immediate sides of Ritmos didn't appear to be doing that. Most of the beach vendors had masks and stayed with distancing requirements. Few with masks I turned my heads and they immediately pulled them up. Food was EXCELLENT!! Previously the food was very good but this time seemed even better. Burger was juicy and bacon was crisp, and the guacamole was even better than we remembered! Definitely our favorite place to sit and enjoy PV's beachfront!! read more

Came here for a late afternoon lunch. The place was empty! We sat upstairs near the bar. Our table had an amazing view but there were hundreds of bees swarming around the bar. We ordered to calamari which turned out to be amazing! However the club sandwich's were not at all good! Neither of us were able to finish them and it didn't seem that the ingredients were all that fresh. The view and the drinks made this place! It was kind of hard to get to driving I recommend taking a taxi or uber unless you are staying at one of the hotels next door! They do offer beach seating on the sand I would definitely go back to sit there and have drinks and that amazing calamari!! read more

Clearly the worst place I went on my vacation in Puerto Vallarta. The chairs are arranged like a movie theater, so if you are going for a beach view, you can forget it. There are multiple sources of loud music all playing something different, and mixed with the cacophony of voices, it's more akin to a nightclub than a beach cafe. I will start off and say this is the perfect beach location to sit at and enjoy drinks and lunch. We reserved a palapa for the 10 days we were there and each day the service was horrible. You had to flag your server down to place and order. Drinks took forever to come and sometimes they didn't bring them at all after ordering. Same issue with food, some people in our group would get their food, others wouldn't. Stuningly nasty servers.....I am not a big spender, I usually order a diet coke and sometimes a light meal....I was told by several servers that I could not sit here or here or here...ok. I found an empty couple of seats, and a server comes over with an attitude, saying if you just want a coke or a lemonade you need to finish it in a hurry. I was like...huh? The server then said I did not spend enough money with them...ok fine. I told him I would never again come here, and I would make sure my countless number of friends would not either. I supported Ritmos when they were on the ropes with covid....but trust me, I am going to do everything im my power to tell others NOT to go there. And, it's kinda funny....as I came back to my hotel, I struck up a conversation with another guest who had the same thing happen to him. People are fickle Ritmos, you upset enough of them and you will pay for it. read more

A great place to come and enjoy the beach. We came on a not so crowded day so we were lucky enough to have a front row view of the ocean. Strong and delicious margaritas, comfortable chairs and plenty of shade to stay cool on the beach between dips in the ocean. The service here is much better than some other beach clubs nearby, and you don't have people constantly trying to sell you massages. The food was just okay but that wasn't our reason for coming. This will definitely become a regular part of our Puerto Vallarta adventures on our return trips! read more

The good: one of the only lounge chair places on the beach. We were seated in the front row so other reviewers issues with not being able to see the water didn't apply to us. Chicken nachos were YUM. Buckets of Pacifico. Price was right and they didn't try to give us the tourist rate. The Ugly: LOUD music- Shakira, Cher, and Kylie pimping out the jams next door WHILE green chairs plays completely different loud competing music. Ugh. We were sat in the front row (yay!) but to the very far left and my seat was actual on a huge tilt. I had to brace myself the entire time from flipping over. Avoid that spot! There was no moving or I would have! My husband had the Tex mex bowl and said it wasn't great- he didn't eat half even though we'd missed breakfast. Buckets of beer cool down fast- drink quick. The vendors are on you just about every minute although a gentleman next to me received what looked to be like a very nice foot massage- perhaps I should have jumped on that. read more
