So a rainy day camping and we decided to go grab lunch, used my handy dandy YELP app to find a decent local place to eat...this place came highly recommended. To some the exterior may scare them away, but foodies know a place that looks like this is probably good. My wife and I entered the muse of license plates and handwriting (once you go you will know what I mean) and were waited on by AVA, who promptly wrote her name on the table so we would remember her. We ordered the fried mushrooms, these are the best I have ever had hands down. I had the Philly burger and it was pretty damn good! Beware these burgers are pretty good sized as single so a double is gigantic. I will join the A list of those who have dined here and will return. read more

I've never had a burger there that I did not thoroughly enjoy. The meat is seasoned well and portions are BIG. What else could you want in a burger joint? All the food is great, appetizers, burgers, sandwiches and sides. My personal favorite is the Texas BBQ burger but the cowboy burger and the continental are also close runners up.The staff is always friendly and attentive. The free peanuts are a nice salty way to whet the appetite and you never get bored looking at all the license plates on the walls as well as the "artwork" and names scrawled all over the tables and walls by the patrons. It's a unique place and one of my favorite places to grab a good priced, tasty burger. read more

When my wife took me here, I thought I was daydreaming. I never knew this place existed until then. Boy, I was missing out on a lot. This is an excellent place to eat lunch or have dinner. I got the grilled onion and cheese burger, my girlfriend the Bleu burger, my friend the Mahi Mahi sandwich and his wife the Blackjack burger. We all could not stop raving about it. I don't know where to start with this one. Been to the location in Myrtle Beach several times and and loved it but Murrells Inlet was a totally different experience. Arrived a little after 2PM and there were only a few tables sat in the restaurant. My girlfriend and I were sat at a table that was clearly vibrating for some reason. Odd, but not a deal breaker even though it was 90 degrees in the restaurant. Ordered a Jack and Coke. Zero carbonation in the soda. It was Jack and brown water but we are here for the food so I didn't bring it up. Blooming Onion was dropped off and described as "crispy" by the server. It was burnt. Really burnt. Can't get worse right? The buffalo chicken sandwich I ordered was not only made incorrectly but burnt to the point of being chewy, had a drop of buffalo sauce, and was inedible. My girlfriends side was also incorrect. 10 minutes go by and we have not been checked on. Our server is eating and then makes her way to the bathroom so I have to get up and get a togo box for the fries that were actually pretty good. I see my server and ask for the check. I tell her about the food, didn't ask for a discount and was not offered one. She sends the manager over, who tells us he doesn't have any coupons for us (like we would ever return) but instructs us to call the corporate number since there is no email. Clever. I have since called the corporate number for the director of operations twice, and left a voicemail expressing that I am not looking for compensation but to raise awareness and have been ignored. I've worked in the service industry for a long time and I've never had this many things go wrong in the same place go unnoticed and unanswered for. Fries aside, this totally sucked. read more

the place was a cool respite after a hot day under the sun. service is fast and friendly. ordered fried mushrooms and fried clam strips. the portions are ok. although everything was oily. the fries were dripping and so were the mushrooms. If one is health conscious then I suggest to go somewhere else but if not cheap beer, fried food are served here. read more

My family loved this place. It was reasonably priced (which is hard to find at the beach!) and we all left full and with a take-home container! My son got a double patty cheeseburger with bacon and couldn't finish it - this is truly amazing since the kid eats a lot and continues to grow! He said it was great tasting as well. My daughter got a regular cheeseburger and was happy with it. I got some kind of crazy kitchen sink thing that had all kinds of stuff on it and I was in burger heaven! This place had a very relaxed vibe and our waitress, Chandera, was very friendly and attentive! All the food was delicious and the portions were BIG. I'd recommend the surf and turf burger and grouper fingers (this plate had the most amount of food in my opinion). The Cole slaw could use some work and the onion rings were pretty greasy but overall I think this was the best place we've eaten at on our South Carolina trip! Burger was really good and the onion rings (2) were quite large. My daughter had the vegi burger and said it was different than the standard black bean burger. River City Cafe is a neat burger place, but don't get the desserts! The burgers are tasty, and in great variety. Sweet potato waffle fries are the tasty surprise. The ice tea was pretty strong, like the brewing device needs cleaning, or it was just potent when it went into the cup. The staff was very helpful and nice. The building is neat - one of those structures where the patrons write on the walls, but in a cool little change up customers apparently bring in their license plates to affix to the walls. I've never seen the River City Cafe chain in any other state, so even though it's a chain, it's a local chain. Try it out when you come into town, it is a neat burger place with a local feel. I know it is where I'll bring any visitors who are hungry for a burger. read more

Eight golfers got seated right away for dinner. Fun atmosphere and great service. Our appetizers were all very good (fried mushrooms, buffalo bites, onion rings, and cheese sticks). Everyone was happy with their burgers and left more than satisfied. We'll definitely return. read more

Ate here tonight 8/29/16. Purchased the black and blue burger and fries with chili and cheese. The food was very good. The place is not fancy but was clean. The only reason i did not give this 5 stars is because the waitress was not the friendliest and seemed like she was in a huge hurry and they were not busy at all. My wife and I had Fried Mushroom appetizer and shared the RC Burger with Onion Rings. Waitress actually had the burger cut-in-half and served in two baskets for us. Mushrooms were battered and fried - very good and hot... and I'm sure not good for us! The burger was very tasty. I was a little disappointed by the onion rings... only x2 served and they cost an additional $1 to substitute. We've been here before - great family fare and decent prices. We were here one year ago. Returned because the food was so good. We loved the "World Famous Onion Rings" a year ago. This year they were horrible. All batter and thin slice of onion.
