Food is good, but overpriced. Nice view of The Coleman Bridge if you sit outside.

We have never been to this restaurant before. We booked the Valentine's Day Dinner for 2, which is a prix fixe with 5 courses and supposed champagne toast included in a set price. Upon arrival we were greeted with a red rose and brought to our table which held a personalized seating card, which I thought was a nice touch. However, things quickly deteriorated from there. This restaurant could be beautiful as the location right on the water is stunning. However, the decor is straight out of a Holiday Inn lobby. The music was 90's pop rock which I thought was strange for a romantic dinner setting. They had a beautiful fireplace which was not lit - again, totally missed the boat on ambiance. The drink menu was very uninspired and did not match the food (many sweet/tropical drinks that would be better served at a beach bar). The food with the exception of dessert was awful. We started with a bread plate with two pieces of clearly not homemade bread with some shards of cheese. There were no plates so we had to eat off the platter in the middle of the table - that sounds picky, but when I'm paying a significant amount of money I would assume this would be standard protocol. We ordered oysters for the next course, and I found a live baby crab in one of mine - gross. Unfortunately my soup was cold and my steak Oscar overdone. I could tell they used tinned crab and hollandaise sauce from a packet. My husband had a very sparse plate of rice pilaf with 5 mussels and 4 scallops which he stated was cooked well but the portion was very small. The champagne "toast" was a 1 inch sip of champagne (literally). The service was extremely slow, we waited 20-30 minutes in between courses which was strange as it was not busy with only about 10 tables occupied (now I see why). Our waitress was sweet although seemed harried. We repeatedly observed wait staff bringing the wrong orders to the wrong tables, and the manager was constantly apologizing and taking food back into the kitchen. Clearly this place does not take pride in what they have or see the potential of what it could be. We felt like we were being taped on an episode of Kitchen Nightmares. The icing on the cake was when the table next to us fed their service dog wet dog food and we had to smell this the entire evening, as no one cleared that table for the remainder of our dinner. We will not be returning again. Would not recommend and I wouldn't waste your money! read more

Every time we dine here is always first rate in service and food. This is our "go to" for out of town guest and business associates.

Went there for their Thanksgiving Buffet. I had a party of 11. I was embarrassed and feel totally ripped off. We had a reservation at 4. we had to wait until almost 5 as they were running behind. The buffet was placed in the in the small bar area. There was always a line and wait for food. The food was luke warm. The quality was awful. It was dirty and not kept up. I don't think they they ever replaced the serving spoons etc. the waitress Was friendly however, we never received any refills for sodas and waters( the drinks were an additional fee). They placed a 20% gratuity on the bill (is understandable for a large party) but not on a buffet. The desserts were good, however we had to wait a while to be served the dessert and we didn't receive all the desserts we ordered. This was one of the worst dining experiences ever. I feel sick to my stomach. My bill was over 800.00 (buffet, soft drinks, coffee and 3 mixed drinks), the quality and service, the bill should not have exceeded 400.00-450.00 total. Pretty good. My aunt got the King Club and liked it ok (she would have liked it better if they didn't add cheese like she asked). My grandma and uncle got the crab cake sandwiches and seemed to like that. Apparently the kids Mac n cheese is REALLY good. I got the "chicken salad" but asked for the vegetarian option (which is just everting but the chicken salad) and it's actually vegan. I was really impressed with the generous amount of avocado they gave me . The bread they serve you in the beginning is not vegan it has pesto and cheese on it. Four of us went to Riverwalk on Saturday, December 7. We had reservations set for 4:00. Upon seating us we were told that there was a two hour time limit - which we felt was fine. We were busy chatting with our friends that we hadn't seen in seven years so wasn't paying much attention to the time. Eventually we realized 20 minutes had passed and no one came to take our orders. We flagged someone down and he checked to see who was our server. It turns out it was him. Anyway, we ordered drinks and got down to business figuring out what we wanted. We ordered four entrees; two of the shrimp scampi, one lamb chop, and one 'signature fish fry'. I also ordered the she crab soup. The soup was okay, but nothing to jump up and down about. The scampi wasn't like any that we've ever had. Not a great dish, and not as warm as it should have been. The lamb, which was supposed to be cooked 'medium' was served bloody (she didn't want to make a fuss so didn't mention it). The fish fry was just random fried fish and bland. For desert we got one slice of chocolate cake to split amongst us. It was yummy! At 6:00 promptly, while we were just finishing the cake, someone came up and told us that our two hour time was up and we had to leave. We explained that no one took our order for 30 minutes and that we would be done in about ten minutes. She left and then came back and said that we MUST leave and could move to another table - which we declined. She explained that they had another reservation for 6:00 at our four-top table. We AGAIN explained that we had to wait 30 minutes before anyone came to see us. She didn't care and was downright ugly about it. In summary, the food wasn't good - especially when the total bill was $190. The service, eventually, was pleasant up until they got pissy about us leaving at 6:00. My job holds its employees Christmas party here every year. I've had nothing but a great experience each time. Of course we have our private dining area and dedicated servers which helps ensure our experience is nothing less than great. This go round I had they seared Salmon, which melted in my mouth. The herb butter was a bonus. The main dining area is large and warm. A nice place to dine with a view. read more

My family was returning home from a vacation in the Outer Banks and we wanted to have one last lunch together, preferably near water. Riverwalk is a fantastic place to stop! We arrived on an overcast Sunday around noon and, despite the weather, we thoroughly enjoyed sitting out on the patio. We had a great view of the bridge and the ships cruising by underneath it. My sister brought her 6 month old Husky puppy with us and our waitress, Lauren, was so kind! She made enough friendly conversation to show her personality (she showed us a picture of her adorable Husky mix) without intruding on our meal. I got the impression that overall, the staff is very friendly and people like to work here. I started with their 20oz bloody mary, mainly because it came with a piece of shrimp, and even though this was a gigantic drink, it wasn't too strong. It's a fun addition to a great brunch menu, especially if you're in the mood to celebrate! We started with the Grilled Brie Cheese and the Calamari which were so delicious that I'm craving them right now while writing this. The calamari is lightly fried and beautifully placed on a plate garnished with arugula, tomatoes, and "octopus salami" (just thinly sliced octopus). The chili aioli wasn't spicy at all and the salad was so good that the entire table polished it off. The brie was perfect! I loved the apricot jam with it; a few days before I had brie that was served with a darker jelly, and it was good but I much prefer apricot. The Benedict Arnold, the Killer Fish Tacos, and the Fish of the Day (grouper with shrimp, a half lobster tail, and mashed potatoes) were packed with flavor and certainly tasted like a 5 star meal. The King of Clubs sandwich didn't thrill me, but my boyfriend thought it was delicious and it was his meal so that's all that matters! The two people who ordered the fish of the day asked for it blackened and, which was the best choice because the fish came out flavorful and tender. We also received complimentary cinnamon sugar brunch donuts which tasted like they could've been your grandmother's secret homemade recipe. I had the Benedict Arnold which came with huge crabcakes and perfectly poached eggs! The biscuit was fluffy, thick, and the ideal sponge to soak up the Hollandaise sauce. On paper the prosciutto sounded amazing, but I'm not sure how successful it was situated underneath the crabcake. I think if it was toward the top, closer to the egg, then it would blend better. Beautiful view. Over priced sandwiches and a weak menu. Everything about this place seems great until you open the menu and get disappointed by the over priced options. They don't have straws for your drinks. That's incredibly annoying as well. I wouldn't recommend getting anything but am over priced beer from here. read more

Two stars for the view and the friendly service. We went for dinner on Easter Sunday not realizing they only had a buffet available for $42 per person. We should have gone elsewhere. For $42 per person, I expect fresh, hot food on a buffet. The food had clearly been sitting out for a while, was crusted over and, in some cases, stone cold. The prime rib was good, as were the steamed shrimp and mussels. Everything else was pretty gross. Also, we arrived at 7:00 and intended to have a leisurely dinner to enjoy the beautiful view. The restaurant's posted hours are 11 am-9pm on Sunday. By 8:00 the servers were taking down the umbrellas on the patio where we were sitting and the buffet was being broken down. We got the hint: get out. Dinner for two, with tip, was $135. A total waste of money. read more

Elegant night.... We started with the calamari and tuna-mango-avocado and crab meat app that were delicious!! Washed it down with a glass of white and a St George's lager (local brew) on tap. For dinner there was fantastic crab cakes with mango chutney and pork belly wit scallops entree. Everything was great and equally tasty. One of the better pork belly dishes I've had in a very long time. Other two got cheeseburgers and we're just as happy with their selection. We are visiting from Florida. Every single restaurant we have tried while in Virginia has been awful. This is the first one that has had excellent service and delicious food! The waitress with a delightful accent was very cheerful and attentive at the perfect times. We came for lunch and had French dip sandwich, fried oyster Poboy both with fries. The presentation was beautiful and the food was hot. The homemade garlic, olive oil bread, that was brought out to us complimentary while we waited, was the best we have ever had! Memorial Day Weekend... We wanted to grab lunch before heading home. Because we had our pup with us. we called all the restaurants in the area to find out which were dog friendly. It was too warm to walk from one restaurant to another to find out. Most establishments were not dog friendly, but RIverwalk was! And even better, my in-laws had eaten here before and loved it! We made a reservation for 11 for the next hour without an issue. Upon arrival, they had our table for 11 ready in the back patio right in the shade. We had a gorgeous view of the bridge and bay. They even had a little bowl set up for our little furry family member! Our server was very nice and funny. I wish I could have remembered his name. He was super accommodating and timed everything so that the food would come out just at the right times. They provide complimentary bread and oil for dipping. The bread is piping hot and so fresh! For our appetizers, we had: Raw Oysters Crab Dip Calamari This was hands down, the BEST calamari I have ever had. The calamari was lightly battered then fried just right so that it was still tender and tossed with a light sauce, cherry tomatoes, red peppers, garlic and feta on a bed of arugula. Around the calamari was sliced octopus sashimi. I dream about this calamari often! The oysters were fresh. And the crab dip was good, but too heavy for my taste. For entrées: Cape Cobb Salad Best Chicken Salad Signature Salmon Salad Fried Haddock Sandwich Chef B's Jumbo Lump Crabcake Sandwich Grillled-Ground Brisket Bacon Cheese Burger Cajun Shrimp Po-Boy Everyone was happy with their meals, no complaints at all. Prices are a little high but well worth the food and great service. Parking can be difficult during peak season since they don't have their own parking lot. "Inoffensive" is probably the most complimentary term I can use. Unknowingly got looped into the Mothers Day buffet, which was the only service option. But I think I can say that pretty much everything was designed to be as bland as possible. Bloody Mary: pretty much unseasoned tomato juice with a dollop of horseradish and some vodka. Had to add salt. The "Yorktown Rosé" garnered the comment "Well, it's... light." The buffet was a Greatest Hits of Unremarkable Food. The best thing there was a green salad. She-crab soup was seafood flavored paste. If the "prime rib" got anywhere a rib, I'll eat my shoe - was pretty much disguised eye round. Everything else was unsalted and cooked to within an inch of its life. Lambs should not have to give their lives for what they did to the lamb chops. The other item that got high marks were the mashed potatoes, and only because they were actually hot. We actually skipped the proffered desserts. We just couldn't eat more mediocre food. read more

Very disappointed in the lack of effort made by restaurant staff to make my anniversary special. I emailed the restaurant a week before my anniversary to see if I could pay extra to have rose petals spread on table, candles, quiet table, etc added to my reservation. I got no response. I then called the restaurant with the same inquiry and spoke to Jennifer. I was told that they could note that it was my anniversary and put down that my preference was for a window table, but that they couldn't guarantee that. So basically, you got here for dinner; to feed yourself. Not to have an experience. I guess I will bring the candles, lighter, rose petals, etc in a huge purse and ask my husband to wait in the lobby until I check on the table. The best thing about our experience was Michelle she was consistent with refills but the buffet was cold and not refilled consistently. My husband who is a chef noticed that their chilled box for yogurt wasn't on. Maybe ordering off their menu is better...but we won't be back. read more

This is a favorite spot in Yorktown. We love the ambiance and typically like to dine outdoors. The Crab Cake Sandwich is a favorite. The side of fruit is a fresh and delightful substitute. I had never eaten here and decided that the view was worth giving it a try. This place does not disappoint. Up front I want to mention our server who was Asian, I only mention that in hopes that someone from the restaurant reads this because she was absolutely wonderful. She made suggestions and talked to us about the food, she was attentive and genuinely friendly which made such a difference. I had local oysters which were outstanding. Split a muffaletta sandwich which tasted fantastic except it had fatal flaw. The bread. It was some sort of thick focaccia that broke apart when picking it up. Attacked it with a knife and fork and was still great. Fantastic taste. Fix the bread and it would be a big winner. Great view, service and food. What's not to like? read more

My in-laws took my husband and I out to Riverwalk for dinner. Even though the restaurant was practically empty, they sat us directly next to another family that had a child with them who was exceptionally loud. Our waitress did not add anything to that environment. Throughout the meal she brought up no less than 5 separate times how she hated rice and onions and did not expect to like them in the Special of the day--the dish my mother in law ordered. Never mind that the dish included risotto, not rice, and that she mispronounced risotto every time it was mentioned. That's really beside the point. Our food was good, but not nearly as good as it should have been for the price point and especially when considering that we waited over 2.5 hours to finish our meal. Our waitress all but disappeared after we placed our order and we had dishes crowding the table the entire time that were ignored. Finally at one point a manager came out and told us that our food would be just a little bit longer because they had two weddings going on at the same time. I'm sorry, is that supposed to be our problem? Plan ahead! We weren't looking for a freebie but she was truly unhelpful and unapologetic. It was just strange. For as much as we spent on the meal, I left thinking to myself that river walk is just another mediocre York county restaurant that is trying too hard to be classy. We always make a point to visit this restaurant when we come down to Williamsburg. A charming restaurant in a quaint town. Love the view of the river and on chilly days there is a cozy wood fire to sit by. We stopped in for lunch on a recent cold Saturday. I enjoyed a glass of Pinot Grigio while my husband had a house IPA with at a table overlooking the stormy York River. We had an appetizer of Crab dip stuffed egg rolls and fresh bread with pesto sauce. So delicious. My entree was the Signature Salmon salad. Fresh glazed salmon on a bed of mixed greens with candied walnuts, apple slices and peppered goat cheese. Amazing! My husband had the baked pasta which was a large portion ( we both needed boxes) just the right seasonings with amazing sausage. Looking forward to our next visit! read more

Came here to try their Sunday Brunch today. Located in historic Yorktown Beach area and right on the water. Parking garage across the street. Good thing because of the rain. Cool and inviting entrance with a friendly hostess. She seated us by a window overlooking the York River and Coleman Bridge. The staff is great and attentive , along with Brandi , our waitress. At first, I thought the buffet was small with certain foods I'm allergic too. Crab & scrimp will send me to the E.R. fast. LOL! I knew this going in however and made my selections as needed. Beef tips, Salmon, oysters, crab salad, breads, pastries, 20 oz. mimosas, potatoes, and veggies. Also have speciality eggs dishes and pancakes to die for if you desire one made to order. Gorgeous interior with a view and great staff makes this a must do for a Sunday Brunch Buffet. Give "The Riverwalk Restaurant " a go for something different and with great seating overlooking the York River. I'll be back. read more

This was the best place ever to end a gorgeous beach day celebrating my sweet mommy's birthday! We are so glad we discovered Riverwalk. We arrived at around 5pm on a Wednesday and it was empty save for a few couples enjoying the view. We decided to sit outside under a cool umbrella with a great view of the bay and bridge. To start, we both ordered some delicious, fizzy drinks. These paired perfectly with the bread that they bring out! OMG. Easily some of the best bread I've ever had at a restaurant. The herbs and oil that came with it just set it off. Since it was so hot out, we both decided to go light on the entrees. I ordered the salmon salad and she got the house salad with crab cake. I can't say enough good things about the salmon salad. Such crisp, good flavors throughout! The lemon dill dressing was uh-mazing and the salmon was perfectly seared. I could seriously eat this salad every day. My mom loved her crab cake salad as well. T'was the perfect, light dinner! So many things looked great on this menu. I feel like the only thing that I'd caution you on is that this place is expensive. I was shocked to see an entree on the menu for $42. Others were in the $30 range. But, based on the quality of the food that we had, I'd be willing to bet that those items are good. A neat little bonus is that they sell their own line of sugar scrub and hand lotion and have it available in the bathroom. It works, yall! My hands are still super soft today and we'll definitely think about purchasing next time. read more
