Edited.... 6-11-2019 I fixed the price I paid, I mis-typed BUT also Roadway got in touch with me... While they expressly said I could change my review... I feel I must fix my mistake here but also let people know they did reach out. They were very generous and offered to refund a good portion of what I paid for my move. I said it was quite a lot, for the record but they insisted and since my experience wasn't the best this time they hoped I would give them another chance when I moved again. They were highly recommended and getting everything set up for the move they followed up really well. Of course I was disappointed with the things that went wrong but because they reached out and went over everything with me I have to say I will consider using them again and hopefully it will be a 5 star experience for the next time. They were fantastic at getting back to me and answering questions before my move. I was very nervous because I have some electronics and a few furniture items that are fairly new that I didn't want banged up. With that said they kept reassuring me while they were packing that they got this. I had zip lock bags for them to use so no screws would be lost and they kept saying they wouldn't need them and not to worry. NEEDLESS to say my bed was put together wrong (its not that hard I did it all by myself when I first ordered the bed) not only was it wrong but the main support beam was put in crooked and I didn't know that until it fell. When I pulled off the mattress to fix what I thought was a few rails slipping, that's when I saw that the support beam was put in so crooked that it was twisted and bent!!! AND they only used 1 screw instead of the 2 they should have used on one side. I had to order another beam from the manufacturer just so I could use my bed! I am a middle aged woman and I put that bed together from a mostly flat packed box and had no issues but these guys totally screwed it up! I also had the instructions that I used to put it together! I paid a lot of money for this bed so I was angry. THEN when I went to adjust my TV it literally WOBBLED!!! When I looked behind I saw they only put in 1 screw of the 4 screws that should be there!!!! I still haven't been able to figure out how to find the appropriate screws to replace the ones they lost!!! I'm still finding small cracks and bumps in things from my move. I've repaired a few things myself. Next I have to lay my big screen TV on my bed and hope I don't break off the 1 screw holding it together so I can take it to the hardware store and see if I can get 3 more that match it. While I spent $30 and 5 hours of my time trying to put the replacement support beam in my bed (they couldn't send me a wooden one, they could only send me a metal one which wasn't the same dimensions as the original wood beam so the markings didn't work for it. I had to remeasure to get the placement and then using a leveler while trying to drill in the holes was a frigging nightmare because the rails have to rest on it, not sag or be lifted by it, did I mention it was my first time using a power drill) anyway I fixed it... I emailed pictures of my twisted support beam and the missing screws and got a response after a few days. 1 phone call during my work hours which I couldn't answer but called back several times and left messages. Then I emailed again and got a response and apology for the late response because it went into spam.... I even let them know the best time to call me because I work outside with animals so I can't be on the phone and don't always hear it ring... I travel A LOT so it is hard to get me but come on, I told them when the best time is to call and get me and that never happened. Anyway I moved Jan 30th 2019 its now June 7th and I've given them enough time to get back to me and tell me how they will take care of this. So I'm writing to warn the next person. I should have watched them like a hawk when they were putting the bed together, I would have caught what they were doing wrong and fixed it. Although I would probably not have noticed that they didn't put all the screws back in the TV stand until I tried to move it. These items are very costly and also not very old and they managed to break one and almost break the other! If I can't get that screw out of the TV stand without breaking it I'm totally screwed. I have no idea where to get a replacement. This stand came with the TV. I'm VERY angry I spent $972 TO MOVE A BEDROOM (yes I lived in a share and all my stuff was in a bedroom 12x13 and because it was a frigid cold day I tipped the 3 guys $100/man! Because I thought, at that time, they had done a good job in the freezing cold... BEWARE I SPENT A TOTAL OF $1272 MOVING A BEDROOM UPTOWN AND THINGS WERE PUT TOGETHER WRONG AND BROKEN AND I'M STILL TRYING TO FIX THE TV STAND. Roadway was simply awesome. I have found my go-to moving company for life. This is my fourth move in five years in NYC, and every previous one was somewhere on the spectrum from stressful to a downright nightmare. This time was the complete opposite, from start to finish. Don't hesitate, just go with Roadway!! I really appreciated the initial consultation via video call; Danny helped compile an accurate list of our belongings (I am too used to going through the apartment and trying to write down everything myself, only to have the movers arrive and complain that we have "so much stuff" -- I mean, it's a 1BR apartment, how much could there possibly be?!). It was helpful and also allowed them to provide a guaranteed price, so no worrying about extra hours or extra volume of stuff that we might have missed. The price was a tiny bit higher than moves we've done in the past (although we were also moving further away), but overall relatively comparable. Prior to the move, the staff was helpful and courteous in dealing with our extremely particular building management to sort out an issue with the Certificate of Insurance. On the day of the move, I could barely sleep thinking about all the loose ends and the potential issues that could come up throughout the day. As soon as Jose R. and the crew of 4 additional guys arrived, though, my fears were calmed. They walked into the apartment and within 30 minutes had taken complete control of the situation, taping up all the open boxes and moving them out quickly and efficiently. And when I saw efficiently, I mean it -- it was seriously impressive. Jose was an incredible supervisor, actually coaching the rest of the crew and paying attention to all the little details. For example, we had planned to disassemble our SleepNumber bed ourselves, as it is a bit complicated, and again this was causing some stress in terms of timing it with everything else. I asked Jose when we should do it and he said "don't worry about it, I know how to do it" -- I was floored. Just such a relief to know that the whole situation was in extremely capable hands, and they really treated our stuff with respect and care. The unloading at the new place was really the cherry on top. The crew was so careful not only to put everything in its place, but also to reassemble things like our bed, TV, computer monitor, etc. They even moved some additional boxes of new furniture that had been delivered for us. The best part of this, in addition to the incredible care and efficiency with which the crew worked, was that they were in good spirits the entire time, laughing and joking with each other -- as opposed to some movers I've had in the past who seem resentful or exhausted (I mean, I don't blame them!! It's a crazy tough job!!). But this small thing truly made the customer experience more enjoyable and just overall far better than any other move I've ever done. TL;DR: Roadway is extremely competent, efficient, careful, courteous and professional. The best moving experience I've had, hands down -- and all of this for a price that was comparable to previous experiences, so it's not like we had to break the bank for top notch service. Local move in LA with Elliot, Marcos, and Ivan went really well. Elliot was very communicative from the start, and they still managed to arrive early within the time window allocated despite the fact that someone in the company admin appeared to have communicated to them the wrong address. Upon arrival, all three movers were very friendly and professional, and worked efficiently. They made us feel very comfortable and handled all our possessions with care. Furniture was reassembled with speed and expertise. Boxes with delicate items were handled accordingly, and the movers were sensitive to what should not be stacked on top of them. I work with a lot of fragile and expensive ceramics and decor in my job, and was very appreciate of this. Many moving teams I have worked with in the past did not care the way they did. Even when we occasionally changed our minds about where something went, Elliot, Ivan and Marcos were patient with us, and very kind to us in our time of stress. They were also respectful of our home, and made us feel totally at ease that they would treat it the way we would like as they were moving things around. Elliot, Marcos and Ivan went above and beyond to help us out of a tough situation when the company that was supposed to deliver wood pallets for our second garage failed to show up that morning because their vehicle broke down. My husband and I were anxious that the second garage, which we planned to use for storage, would be filled with boxes and furniture from the move, and we would have no way to get the pallets underneath everything once that was done. That particular garage floor is not finished, and unsuitable for more delicate items. However, our movers came up with a solution, and rolled out some professional floor lining to pad the entire floor for us, creating a makeshift flooring. It was extremely well done, and saved us having to put our possessions directly on the dirt ground. Beyond that - they were expert organizers, and arranged all the boxes and furniture in the garage so beautifully that we couldn't have asked for a more tidy and picture perfect job. Everything was accessible, stacked and shelved appropriately, and arranged in order. They also consulted my husband and I to learn our organizing preferences so they could figure out what to put in the rear and what items needed to remain near the front for easy access. Truly a five star service and Company. We had been in Los Angeles for a long time, many years but with a heavy heart decided it was time to move back to New York. My wife is boss of the household so was in control of vetting moving companies, getting pricing so we could make a decision who would take us back East. We received a few quotes after my wife's initial due-diligence & vetting. Roadway were very prompt and easy to use, after a phone call to the office they scheduled a survey with the estimator and our survey was completed. We were very quickly aware of the quality and experience of Roadway, they asked us questions none of the other companies asked, which filled with confidence about the moving process. The pricing from Roadway was above average compared to the other quotes even though one of the quotes we received was astronomically high, but after talking with friends who have moved long-distance you truly get what you pay for. The move day was excellent very smooth & experienced team, the foreman Robert talked us through Everything and was our point guy on the day. They just got on with it, wrapping and preparing all our belongings to a very high level, taking TVs off the walls, preparing pictures, disassembling the beds sealing mattresses... they operated like a well trained sports team. After a couple of hours we just sat in the garden drinking lemonade & let them get on with it, Whoever thought moving could be so relaxing. We had a move coordinator, Jeanisse who was in contact prior to the move and gave us regular updates on the progress of our delivery via text which was so convenient and our sales guy in LA was also in regular contact throughout the process. Roadway Moving was excellent from start to finish! Moved in the middle of December from NYC to TX. Recommend wholeheartedly for long distance (and probably short) move. Initial sales with Oscar was super reassuring despite my uncertainty in terms of how many boxes/things that I am going to move eventually. Our move included three locations in NYC to two locations to TX (I know, ridiculous). Oscar was transparent in terms of pricing and along the way if I needed to add/take out things he would add to list quickly. COI was given quickly as well (important in some buildings in NYC). Come moving day, which happened to be the beginning of a snow storm, the team was late for an hour but no biggie due to weather issues. Wendy and his team was quick but careful. I packed everything but there were some loose pieces and they were transparent regarding certain things that may break during the move (my fault). I felt like our stuff was dealt with respect and taken care of the entire time. The estimate was between 1-3 weeks due to the nature of the move, but Oscar had initiated estimating usually within 2 weeks. I was able to call or email the Roadway team and get updates about our stuff/truck driver. About 5 days after the move, I get a text from the driver that he'll be at our destination within 1-2 days! Essentially we were all moved in within 1 week! There were a few plastic bins/boxes that had some chips and dents but that is to be expected. Upon finishing the checklist that the move-in team gave us, we did find that we were missing 2 boxes. I contacted the team right away again and within 2 weeks, they found it and mailed it to us! To be fair, we barely noticed it gone and if not for the checklist we probably wouldn't have checked back. But their system works and the checklist provided definitely did help! read more

We had an INCREDIBLE experience using Roadway from start to finish. We needed movers that would be full service - from start to finish. They started by giving me a call and evaluating all the items in my home. I didn't need to remember; they just walked through rooms with me and took an audit of items. Then they asked about my space and home to know about how to get boxes and furniture in an out. Once that was done, they sent through a proposal - which we agreed to and signed soon after! As we got closer to the moving date, they followed up to check in on our move logistics, the home, and if there were any changes. They really were on top of it and we appreciated that. Moving is always stressful but we honestly felt like the moving of our stuff inside the house was the easiest part. This is my second move with Roadway in a year and, once again, they were wonderful. From booking through delivery of my goods, these folks are the best! I had some drama with my move which was scheduled (unbeknownst to me) during the Puerto Rican day festival and parade weekend. The movers were not allowed to come into East Harlem to pick up my things as my old apartment was right in the heart of the festival area. The driver came to my apartment to explain why they were late in arriving and was very apologetic about the situation. They arranged to come back on Monday first thing. They didn't charge me any extra for having to reschedule me last minute or anything. They showed up on Monday morning and were (again!) fast, friendly and careful with my things. I have an old terracotta vase that has seen better days. They explained that they may not be able to get it to the new place in one piece but would do what they could. They even helped me get heavy boxes into the loft storage area without blinking an eye. I know it must seem suspicious that everyone leaves glowing reviews of Roadway, but I can tell you honestly - I can't see working with anyone else. I recently had the pleasure of using Roadway Moving. Their subway ad campaign caught my eye, especially the headline, "We Know How Fragile You Can Be" which pretty much describes me exactly when it comes to moving. I've moved many times but never had such a positive and easy experience with a moving company as I did with Roadway. Previous moves with other companies, some of which were major names in moving, went horribly wrong, with delays, damaged items, months long claims processes, etc. From day one with Roadway, when I met Ruth Sullivan who put my mind at ease about the large amount of fragile items I was moving, to meeting Alex, the foreman of my move, everyone involved in the process was very attentive to my concerns and managed to make what is usually a very stressful experience, very pleasant and easy to deal with. The crew that packed up and moved my belongings were friendly, courteous, compassionate, highly skilled and amazingly quick. There were no delays, no issues, no problems at all. Xavier and Paco and their crew were awesome! Imagine moving with a baby and two doggies from NYC to westchester in the middle of a heat wave. They made our move so so much more enjoyable. From the beginning Beth was very easy to work with and set up everything we need immediate after our request. You can always reach someone on the phone with them as well l, which is super nice. On the moving day, the crew was stuck in traffic - not their fault. They kept me posted throughout with their eta. They packed everything in our 2 bedroom within 6 hours. When I said everything it meant every single thing including that shirt that I haven't worn or seen for 4 years. They came to the house at 5 and finished moving at 7. Just like that. The much dreaded move is done. They even picked up the box spring for us because it wasn't going to fit going up our stairs. All in all would highly recommend them to everyone who is looking for movers! Had to drop to 3 star because they promised to pick up empty boxes but never followed through. Made me feel like all the stellar service is just for the review - once they got it (see my old review) they don't care anymore, which is disappointing. read more

Roadway Moving provided me with the best experience from the very beginning. They promptly called me after I submitted an inquiry about pricing online. I knew I had a short timeframe and was moving within 3 weeks of contacting Roadway. They were accommodating with the dates and had fantastic customer service. They let me know that the pricing was based upon the inventory, and I filled out the inventory online (so easy!). After I provided an inventory, they emailed all of the information I needed and stayed in contact via phone calls, emails, and texts. They confirmed my inventory, pick-up address, and destination a few days before the move, and showed up PROMPTLY on time. The crew was fast, efficient, professional, clean, and overall fantastic. There were no broken items, and all furniture was in perfect condition at my destination. The company followed up after the move to make sure it went well and for feedback too. Cesar and Jose helped me with my cross country move to New York City. They called me prior to arriving and even texted me when they were 15 minutes out. I appreciated the communication and detail to attention - Cesar helped me label each box with corresponding numbers so that I can track my boxes and items when they are delivered to NYC. I researched about 5 other moving companies. What I appreciated the most was the transparency and efficacy. Cesar and Jose are expert packers. They helped me pack some miscellaneous items and took great care of my personal belongings as if it belonged to them. There were no gimmicks, no surprises about the price, even Allen, my rep was helpful and thorough. There was an item missed on the list but was course corrected immediately. I was quoted a price and that was adhered to (of course granted that I stayed within my estimated amount of inventory)! I'll share an update once I receive my items in a few weeks!
