Not actually sure it was a filet mignon cut, but who cares, it tasted good. The Caesar salad was extremely garlicky, very classic for a steakhouse. Flourless chocolate cake was ok, too much sugar for me. Nice view out the back patio, and I appreciated the options for mocktail. I had the fake old fashioned and it was lovely. I was here for a work dinner so can't really comment on prices - from what I saw in the menu, it seemed pricey, but the portions were decently large. read more

I came here for happy hour, which ends at 6:30pm from Sunday-Thursday. The service and atmosphere were great, this place was definitely crowded but the bar had plenty of seats. I rated this place a three for the happy hour food menu. We ordered the chips& guacamole, big burger, truffle fries, sweet and sour cauliflower, and fish tacos. Overall, I just feel that the guacamole and fish tacos needed more seasoning. The guacamole just tasted like smashed avocados and the tacos just needed some freshness/ Mexican flavors. I also wish the cauliflower was fried and battered before being tossed in sauce. The burger and fries were pretty good, I really enjoyed the truffle sauce with fries. I am extremely disappointed by my recent experience. Finding a bug in my food was not only disturbing, but completely unacceptable. This raises serious concerns about the restaurant's cleanliness, food handling, and overall sanitation standards. Situations like this should never happen in any establishment serving food to customers. Needless to say, this experience was both upsetting and unsanitary, and it has completely ruined my trust in this business. My family and I really enjoyed our time here for dinner. We made an early reservation so the restaurant was rather quiet but dark (we needed to use our phone flashlight to see the menu). The restaurant is gorgeous and has a beautiful outdoor seating area. Our server was very nice and helpful with the menu. She also gave us plenty of time to talk and decide what we wanted. The margaritas were amazing 10/10 and so was the green chili pork with tortillas (I would go just to get that!) 10000/10 The tortilla soup was filling, hot and yummy 9/10. We got a bowl and all 3 shared it. The pork tenderloin was delicious 8/10, we got it with the brussel sprouts (which were too sweet and covered in too much sauce 4/10) The big a** burger was HUGE and juicy 8/10. First time here. Heard lovely things about it. Very pricy, like Eddie V's or Flemings. Spinach dip was hot and delightfully delicious. Sides of mushrooms can be shared as well as the brussel sprouts. Sirloin cooked to perfection! Very little fat or gristle. Seasoning and meat temperature excellent. However the ribeye was not a "good" ribeye. Lots of it was not edible. The manager made everything right with bringing out a true ribeye and apologized and acknowledged that the cut received was very poor and should have not been used. Ordered the Texas 2 Step, which includes the sublime New Mexico green chile pork. Very good, except it came with only two tortillas. Asked for more but it took a long time and the dish was cold by the time they arrived. A strange, cheap move on their part. The drinks are nicely priced at HH but don't let the bartender suggest adding flavors. He said he'd add blood orange "for about a dollar". Nearly every time we catch a show at the Paramount, we pop in and get the Green Chili Pork in the cast iron bowl... it's just sooooo good! We also love the north location with its quiet environment and great view of the little lake nearby. My wife and I were searching for lunch place with our nieces and their toddler, when we just happened onto Roaring Fork. How lucky we were to find it! It is a beautifully decorated restaurant tucked away in the trees with an amazing patio. It was mid-afternoon when we arrived and relatively empty. Unlike many restaurants during off times, the service and attentiveness was still impeccable. They were cherry, helpful, and made sure we had everything to our liking. They even came and adjusted the shades for our table to ensure the afternoon sun wasn't blinding the far side of our table. Since we knew we would be eating dinner in just a few more hours, we just ordered drinks and appetizers. The garlic truffle fries, skillet cornbread, and guacamole and chips were all delicious. For me, the skillet cornbread was the stand out. (I am a southern boy and good cornbread always takes me back to homecoming at grandma's.) I would not describe this burger as a traditional burger not because the size but it got all the traditional toppings plus poblano pepper and applewood bacon :) Now, the service was dissapointing. We recently went here because we were celebrating an anniversary. I had been here before and I have to say this place does not disappoint. Our food was great and I would 100% recommend trying this restaurant. They were kind enough to gift me a free dessert in honor and had the staff sign a card which I thought was a great customer service touch. The scenery is absolutely beautiful as well! Unfortunately, the service was much worse than normal. Our tab ended up as just $85 because they comped one of our sides (which our server forgot and later brought out) and we didn't get dessert (we ordered it, our server forgot and brought us the check). They also almost brought our salad twice, which probably made our entrees come out later. It was clear that our waiter was having an off day, but every server and host seemed out of it, saying "it's like Valentine's Day 2". I guess they weren't prepared for the demand. Lastly, we noticed that several people were dressed much more casually than normal (sweats, t shirts and jeans). Rethinking this location as my go-to date night spot or recommendation. read more

My husband and I celebrate his birthday and our anniversary in Austin every year and this year we decided to check out Roaring Fork in North Austin by the Domain. Service: 5* I made the reservation on Open Table and indicated that is was for a special birthday occasion and we requested outdoor seating since the reviews said the sunset view is wonderful over the lake. We arrived about 15 minutes early and they were ready to seat us right away, placed a birthday card on the table for my husband, and sat us right near the railing to see the lake and the sunset. Our waiter Jason was super friendly, knowledgeable of the menu, and treated us the a birthday dessert! Food: 4.5* Guacamole - It was definitely fresh, but the red onions overpowered all the other flavors. If the red onion were chopped a bit finer and they added more lime juice it would've been perfect. I just couldn't get past the overwhelming onion flavor. Cornbread - The flavor was spot on, absolutely delicious, just not as hot as I would've liked it. The cornbread was almost room temperature so when you added the butter it was more "frosted" as opposed to having it melt into the bread, but overall it was very good. Mexican Corn - Again, the temperature was just not hot enough, the flavor was very good though. Candied Beets - I could eat these everyday of my life! The were so delicious! They were sweet, spicy, had a nice orange citrus flavor, the salt was just right, all of it was just perfect and I will get these every time I come! Rainbow Trout - We were scared to order this because my husband is from New Orleans and cannot eat fish if it's not super fresh. Jason assured us that it was very fresh and delicious so we tried it . . . Oh. My. Goodness. It was light, flaky, perfectly cooked, fresh, delicious, just superb! It was seasoned just right, I even ate the skin! They did not disappoint! My husband loved it and regretted sharing it with me. We will have to go back and get this again. Crème Brûlée - Unfortunately we did not listen to Jason and go with the pecan pie as he suggested, we went with the crème brûlée thinking that we wanted something light that we could finish since our hotel didn't have anywhere to store leftover food. It was very liquidy, not firm at all. The edges were super liquidy and the middle was a little firm but not the creamy custard texture you normally get. This was the only thing that disappointed. Drinks: 5* Texas Kicker - This drink was so yummy! Very strong ginger punch and definitely packed a kick. One was more than enough! Roaring Fork Gin & Tonic - So refreshing! You could taste every flavor they say it has. They are NOT stingy with the liquor, if you are a lightweight share your drink, or eat first! LOL! Overall I just wish the temperature of the food was consistent and the guacamole didn't have so much onion. But I will still go back for more! read more

The skillet cornbread and guacamole were both tasty appetizers. The portions for these were quite small so if you are sharing you may want to get multiples. 3 1/2 stars for the food. This is purely a personal preference. The steak Frites was not good. It didn't have a lot of flavor and the meat was on the tougher side. The fries that came with it were not good because there was a heavy dousing of chili powder throughout them. I will eat any kind of french fry but I did not enjoy this. The fries that come with the burgers are way better in my opinion so if you really want steak frites, ask for those fries instead. i'd give this dish 2 1/2 to 3 stars. The big ass burger was exactly that. So big that I could not get my mouth around it to take a bite. This is where being a snake would come in handy so you could detach your jaw to take a bite. It was very tasty and I enjoyed it using my knife and fork. I like that you can get the fries with Parmesan and truffle. It was quite expensive for a burger but enjoyed and would be ordered again. I'd give it a solid 4 1/2 stars. They were out of all of the desserts that we wanted but that's OK! We will definitely go back to the Roaring Fork. read more
