Roasting Water really surprised me. I came in with low expectations because places with overly cute packaging and Instagram hype tend to be overrated. But I misjudged you, Roasting Water. Decor is first and foremost very noteworthy. The walls are lined with precious yet adorable cups/mugs/flasks, pretty much anything that can hold a drink. Be careful not to lean against anything! The boba shop itself is really small.. it's difficult to even walk past people in the same store. Service was ok. I asked the cashier what he would recommend and it wasn't too friendly. All he said was "The smoothies are popular" and quickly turns around to do something else. So I take a look at the smoothie options on the menu.. highly extensive. I've never been so overwhelmed with options. The drinks took about 5 minutes to make and they came out in holiday special (high quality) plastic bottles. Jasmine milk tea - 5/5 The Jasmine tea was very prominent and we didn't adjust the sugar levels. It was perfect- not too sweet and not too bitter! The boba was really soft with a nice chewy texture. Plus, I like the fact they use crushed ice. Mango smoothie with mango bits - 4/5 My mom really enjoyed this one even with mangoes not being in season. It was really refreshing! It would be better if there were signs to which bottles were for sale or even which bottles come with your purchase. In addition, my sister really wanted to purchase the Gudetama bottles we saw on IG and on the countertops but the cashier said it was sold out.. clearly there is one on the display which apparently isn't for sale, I guess. It was a bummer to see the bottles on display only to look at when you can't even buy the last one. Oh well. I recommend trying Roasting Water, if not for the cool cups but for the high quality drinks and boba! Keep in mind, the boba shop is really small with no chairs, tables, or even much standing room. I've been wanting to check out RW for a very long time but it's crazy far from where I live. When I noticed today that I was close by, I had to make my way over. So glad I did, because I love this place. If only I'd brought an ice cooler I would have loaded up on their iced drinks. I was a bit skeptical about the iced coffee, but I hadn't had my morning fix so I gave the RW iced coffee with sea salt cream a try. This was the perfect iced coffee, sweet and creamy with lots of tiny ice rocks. I'm sure it's loaded with sugar, so I would recommend it as an occasional treat unless they're able to half the amount of sugar. I also got the "Lots of Lychee" to take home. I took a sip while I was on the road, and seriously, I haven't had an ice tea this authentic and refreshing in a long time, well, since the tea shop I use to frequent in my neighborhood had the nerve to shut down about a year ago. This tea has a very floral essence that really awakens the senses. I typically don't like things floating around in my drinks, but in this instance I really enjoyed the basil seeds and the little bits of lychee. I wish I had gotten a few of these to keep in my fridge, but since I only got one I'll have to savor it. I thought there would be an extra charge for the bottles, which on my visit were only being offered in plastic instead of glass which I was hoping for, however, there is no extra charge and the prices are very reasonable. The plastic bottles are not something I would use over and over as a safety/health precaution, but they're super cute and probably safe to use a few more times. I would love to have a RW on the Westside, but the nice guy who took our order said he thinks it kind of a distance for the owners, still I'm hoping they'll consider, because this is definitely a spot I would frequent if it were close to home. After hearing and looking at TONS of good reviews I knew we had to try this place out during our trip! This place is one of those hyped up places but they're actually worth coming too! It's one of those "tiny hole" in the wall places - seems like cali is FILLED with small unique restaurant/cafes!! The cafe inside is super small but adorable! There's a lot of fragile mugs etc and has a cute clutter vibes. Unfortunately they didn't have the glass bottles when I was there but they had plastic puppy ones (which i liked better!). The staffs were all friendly and the drinks were made SO DAMN FAST. Literally 1 min or less which was mind blowing. Fastest drink to come out ever. The prices for my opinion was super reasonable esp. when you get to keep it! There's also options where you can buy a mug and they'll make a drink in it for you as well! They have so many strange and cute mugs i've ever seen lol! There wasn't any line when I went around 5pm and plenty of parking available. The cafe was a little hard to find because it's in a small corner but it's like a hidden gem. There wasn't any seating inside so hands down it's not a place for you to chill and relax with friends or study.. you have to take your drink and leave or sit outside basically. I got the Lot Of Lychee with green tea based, and I LOVE the lychee chunks but i wish i would've gotten the milk teas because this drink was on the bitter side (strong). If you don't like bitter drinks or tea don't get this, it's more of an acquired taste for my opinion. Strawberry Blonde smoothie was super refreshing, it was a creamy smoothie and it had mango and strawberry chunks on the bottom. They have a good variety of drink menu options so there's probably a drink for everyone! Very cute shop. Loved all the unique cups and they were all super chill even with younger kids(I would be freaking out if I had kids around so many glass cups but they were really nice and chill). They're super fast and the drinks come out super fast. I love how they're honest and tell you straight up that they can't change the "sweet" level of many of the drinks because the base is already made. I like my drinks not sweet at all (I was craving a matcha latte without any sugar at all(they just ran out of the green tea when I went in but it was also 20mins before they closed and they said it's the only one that they can really control the sweetness of; so if you're going for a less sweet drink go for the green tea)). The bottles were super cute and my husband enjoyed his Thai Iced Tea. What an interesting boba shop that I had no idea existed! Roasting Water is a small boba joint that doesn't serve up your typical milk teas. Rather, you have boba with smoothies and other healthy teas. The general vibe that I get from Roasting Water is that they are more eco-friendly (with the reuseable glass containers) and offer healthier drink choices. Just by judging from the name, I didn't expect Roasting Water to carry boba but I was so glad it does! I got the strawberry blonde which is one of their more popular drinks. I appreciated the fresh strawberry bits and sliced mangos at the bottom of the drink. The drink isn't overly sweet and makes for a great smoothie! I like how every drink comes in a reuseable glass container! I'm thinking it makes for a great vase for flowers afterwards! This used to be a place my mom and I would often go on my days off from work or after school. We loved collecting their bottles and the drinks are great (our favorites always change)! After my mom moved a bit further out I stopped going as much but I soon got my SO hooked on it. If you ask him, the Avocuddle is one of the best things to ever exist probably! Got a regular green milk tea here on a Sunday afternoon after getting AYCE BBQ at Red Castle nearby. What it is: It's a boba/milk tea shop but it's pretty small - not really a place to lounge around and play board games and such but more of a grab and go place. It's known for serving their drinks in these plastic bottles with caps - and the design changes every so often (I think they get different artists to draw these designs and the artists get credited - they're all super cute, my friends love collecting them). Parking was pretty easy during the day but not sure how it is at night. Vibes: Super cute - like a little Asian store with tons of Roasting Water merchandise and cups/mugs/bottles on display on the wall, for sale. Drinks are about $5, a small increase in price because of the bottle it comes in. I like the idea of it and I love that artists' work get featured on these cool bottles that people get to keep. This roasting water bottle obsession has got to stop. I usually get the cafe sua da and some type of tea drink (sea salt jasmine, green tea with sea salt, etc). I really love their drinks. And, each drink comes with a cute bottle. They change their bottles from glass to plastic on a rotating monthly basis. The cafe sua da with sea salt cream and coffee jelly always hits the spot. It's a lot of caffeine for me so I have to take my time sipping it. If I drink it all at once, I become this extra hyper crazy person. It is filled with cute decors with walls arts, cups, both glassware and plastic, and a bunch of known characters such as hello kitty, rilakkuma, and others. We ordered royal mango which was recommended to us, pink guava lemonade, and another which I forgot. The drinks comes in these "collectible" plastic containers with decorations that seem like they change frequently. There was nothing special with any of the drinks. It's not bad but nothing worth raving about. Overall, I probably wouldn't come back since there are way more options elsewhere. There is limited seating outside so I would recommend just grab-n-go because there is not space to sit and hang out with friends. Boba in a bottle is the latest thing. I came during Christmas time hope to get a cute glass bottle. Unfortunately, they only had plastic bottles. If you came during a holiday, no random bottle selections. This location is much smaller than other locations. I bet there is always a line out the door. The entrance is so narrow its hard to get by to enter the store. They have the most adorable collection of tea cups /pots I've seen in a little tea shop. I loved the Christmas decors inside store. As for drinks, we all ordered various drinks to try. I needed coffee badly so tried one of the signature coffee drinks, RW Black Coffee. Everything tasted better with sea salt cream. I wish they had almond or soy sea salt creams. I had to pace myself to save some before I get home. A note: Once you've dropped that plastic bottle, it breaks really easily. I've been wanting to try Roasting Water for a while now so I was so excited when we were able to stop by after the night market! They have multiple locations and I'm not sure if they're all this size, but this one is pretty much pick up and go -- there is no space to hangout unless you're lucky enough to get the only table outside. They have a pretty generous menu, plenty of options between smoothies, milk teas, coffee, and fruit teas. Even the amount of topping choices is pretty good! The fact that they are able to keep their drink prices lower AND give you a nice bottle with each drink is pretty cool! I ordered two drinks: iced green tea macchiato and iced guava green tea. The green tea macchiato was my favorite between the two, but it wasn't what I expected. I was picturing a matcha green tea drink, but it tasted like a green milk tea to me. The guava green tea was good too, but didn't taste good when I saved it for later :( Big plus though, I liked their ice! At first I thought, wow there is a LOT of ice in here.. but I liked it because it was the tiny crushed ice, so it wasn't like there were huge ice cubes taking up space in your bottle. The drinks were definitely not the best milk tea/teas I've ever had, but I think their specialty is their unique bottles that rotate every so often and the affordable prices. Super unique tea spot!! Came here couple times. First on a weekday which wasn't too busy but on a sat night, it was packed!! I highly recommend the sea salt jasmine tea. Their jasmine tea is really strong and pairs well with the heaviness of the sea salt cream. I hate when tea places serve weak tea that tastes like water. I've also tried their thai tea and Vietnamese iced coffee and thought they were delicious as well. And two free toppings are included with the price so you don't need to pay extra if you want boba or something. Also, RW is known for their super cute glass bottles. Every time I've come, I've only been given plastic bottles with a screw on lid. I'm guess they alternate between glass and plastic. If you follow them on Instagram, they post the current series (for example, the last series was mermaid-themed glass bottles, and the current series is space-themed plastic bottles).
