I was blown away. This was my first visit so I went with a simple Pad Thai, and it did not disappoint. It was the precise level of spiciness I asked for (4), very flavorful, and had good texture. Of all the flashy Thai joints in uptown, this is one of our favs. Decent portions, fresh and fast. Love it every time we go. Pluses are also awarded for free parking in their lot instead of street or ramp like the other Uptown Thai restaurants. read more

Go for the food. The service isn't particularly friendly and the prices are higher, but the food is on point. The interior is decorated nicely as well. My favorites are the cream cheese wontons, the fried rice, and the pad see yew if you're looking for suggestions! The parking is tough during dinner hours, and taking a left turn into the lot isn't fun either... But they do have a parking lot which is more than many places in the area. read more

It took 45 minutes to get a round of drinks. The wait staff blamed computer problems for the delay. When I asked for a manager, I got a very rude attitude from my waitress. I gave up on speaking to a manager, paid for our drinks and left. There are plenty of Thai restaurants in the neighborhood; don't waste your time on service like this. read more

Very beautiful restaurant. Got to go with some friends so I sampled 3 different dishes. Mee Kah Teeh was not my taste so much, but it was ok. I got amazing massamun curry, which was almost as good as my nepali friend makes it. Very rich. The egg noodle curry was the best! Very flavorful and tasty. A bit more expensive than other thai places but not bad. The service was also terrific. Eddie (the best waiter there) got us our check early so we could even make our movie on time. I like the decor of the restaurant. It's got its own parking lot, albeit not enough. It also have an outside seating for summer & full bar. It's lively and usually fairly packed. The food is fairly good. The times that I went there, it has the right flavor, although lacking the traditional zing. read more

i really love roat osha! today i went there for lunch with 2 kids, we sat on the porch which was awesome! i got them pineapple fried rice with no spice since they are 2 and 4, and i got the sri racha stir fry at level 3. mine was good, but not as spicey as i expected. the kids fried rice was awesome. i used the spice tray with picked peppers and the roasted pepper flakes, it was soooo good! i never order fried rice 'cuz i figure fried rice is fried rice, but pineapples, cashews, raisins, tofu. yum. the biggest plus is lunch menu. we got our entrees for $8.50 a piece and they were huge. we brought over half of each home. and we got the veggie spring rolls and those were yummy too. read more

I live in Uptown so it's great to have a close delicious Thai restaurant to go and grab a bite or order a drink. I love the location and the restaurant has a classy feel to it without being pertinacious. The service has always been excellent and the pricing is great for what you get. All of the appetizers are exciting and I recommend the jalapeño won tons. The cranberry wontons are heavenly as well. Mixed drinks seem to always be pretty strong but I am not complaining one bit. I'll be back at Roat soon and now that it is summer I am excited to try their patio. read more

This is my favorite Thai food I have ever had! I'll admit its slightly Americanized, but I am ok with that. They still have all the flavor, variety and heat that we love! My favorite thing on the menu is probably the basil shrimp rolls, and they even have them on the Happy Hour menu! There happy hour is pretty sweet too, they also have half priced bottles of wine a few days a week. My girlfriend almost always gets the pad see yew, I usually rotate between the different stirfrys or the fish curry. Ive also tried a few of the soups but didn't love them. We used to live close and we would eat here almost every week, now we still try to make it here once a month at least! read more

The service here was great. Our waiter gave his honest opinion about what to try and what to avoid. We split an order of the fried spring rolls with pork and they were tasty. The dipping sauce was a bit on the sweet side. I had the pineapple curry with beef and the beef was tender. The spice level three out of five was a perfect medium of heat and mild. read more

Roat Osha is one of my favorite Thai places. The food is great. Recently however my friend's wallet was stolen in the bar. The thief sat down next to us and simply reached across into my friend's purse and snatched her wallet. Mgmt said there are so many thefts that MPLS police no longer respond to calls at Roat Osha. Mgmt said that they have even hired a person to monitor the parking lot there have been so many break ins. read more

Service is not the same anymore. Took ages to get served at the bar. The 27th and Hennepin location had better ambience. Today, 75% of their tap beers where not available because the bar manager did not replenish stock. The server attempted to serve a half pint of summit EPA because they ran out. Been going to Roat Osha for years. Especially loved the Hennepin location. Have been to Calhoun location 5 or 6 times. Today was our last visit. The food has really gone downhill. No crunchy batter on the calamari and pieces were extremely chewy and not thoroughly cooked. Blech. Ordered the chicken pad thai extra hot. Was watery, the sauce was bad and noodles were mushy. Had no heat to it at all. Chicken was dry. Gross. There's always beer or drinks, right? Wrong. The selection was terrible, no IPA at all. The server informed us that they usually run out of beer on the weekends. Omg it's Saturday afternoon. Other than that the overall feel was sticky and kinda dirty. The absolute WORST service ever....even when you finally take the time to speak to a manager about how horrible your server and wait assistants are. He stops by the table to "get us some water," but our empty glasses had been taken by the assistant without asking if we wanted more. The manager doesn't apologize or even take our empty, stacked appetizer plates that have been sitting there for 20 minutes (without even seeing our server after they had been delivered by someone else.) The ONLY reason to go is to get take out...the food was yum...but how do you support a business that treats you like complete S@%#t!? Never again. read more

Of the three Thai restaurants I've been to within central Uptown, this one is by far the best. The interior and exterior decor are quite impressive and the food met my expectations while the others fell short (Amazing Thailand and Tum Rup Thai). The free parking lot was icing on the cake. I recently moved a lot closer to Roat Osha than I used to be, which is just dangerous for my wallet. It is my one of my absolute favorite restaurants in Uptown. My favorite things here are the Jalapeno Cream Cheese Wantons, Pineapple Fried Rice, and the Egg Noodle Curry. They also have really good Mai Thai's. I always bring my friends and family here when they come to visit, and it never disappoints. I even converted my boyfriend who was hesitant on first visit. I've also always had friendly and attentive service. I usually end up eating here a few times a month, and I'm always satisfied when I leave. read more

This place has a split personality, and it seems you never really know which Roat Osha you're going to get. Either the food is good (fresh vegetables, generous portions, flavorful entrees) and the service is poor (servers socializing with each other and unaware of patrons) OR...awesome service (attentive, friendly service-Shane is great) and then the food is off (Drunken noodles with very few vegetables and pasty, clumped noodles). Would love a more consistent experience. What keeps me going back is the bar area with sports on the TVs and the great happy hour - if you can get a table. read more
