Excellent! Came here a day after a Spurs game so it was not busy. It was pretty easy to find and parking was free. It's a beautiful restaurant with a rooftop. Had a girl's night dinner and they did not disappoint! The portions are big so definitely had some leftover to take home. I had the Tuscan Campanella Alla Bolognese and let me tell you, I could eat this every day it was so delicious! The drinks are perfect. The Peach Bellini and Full of Flowers were yummy. Manager introduced himself and told us about the restaurant and events they will be having. Service was superb and was decently priced for the quality and amount of food. Can't wait to go again:)

We tried a variety of dishes and overall had a really enjoyable experience. We started with the porcini-crusted onion rings served with balsamic cipollini jam and Calabrese aioli. The flavor was great, but they were a bit on the greasy side for my liking. For brunch, I ordered the tiramisu pancakes and WOW .....absolutely AMAZING. Fluffy, rich, and perfectly sweet with that classic tiramisu flavor. We had the Tuscan campanelle alla bolognese. It was comforting, well-seasoned, and absolutely delicious. We also tried the lunch plate with chicken skewers, asparagus, and potatoes. Everything tasted fresh, cooked perfectly, and well-balanced. It is definitely a lighter option that doesn't sacrifice flavor. Overall, great food with solid variety. Highly recommend the tiramisu pancakes and bolognese!

As those of you who read my reviews often know, I am in charge of picking the venues for my retirement group's monthly luncheons. This year, I wanted something new and special for our holiday luncheon in December. I went online and asked Perplexity for a list of restaurants that would meet our needs. This was one of them. The restaurant is in an area called the Rock. It is fairly new, and we found it a little hard to find. When we did find it, we weren't sure how to get to the front door. Unfortunately, we had driven right past all the handicap parking, which would've made it about a 50 foot walk to the door for my friend. Instead, we ended up walking all the way around the building to find the entrance. The restaurant was very nicely laid out and decorated. It had a wide open feeling in the dining room. We were given two large tables towards the back that were almost private. The menu was not what most of us would expect to find on a traditional Italian restaurant menu. However, we all managed to find something that we enjoyed. As every meal was placed on the table, I wished I had ordered it instead. Then they finally brought mine, and it was very good. For me, the highlights were the selection of mocktails. They had several of them, and they were all much more creative than usual. I tried two of them and they were great. Another thing I have to sing praises about are those wonderful deviled eggs! They were insanely delicious and so well prepared. We actually asked if we could get the recipe. The chef came to our table, and, although he shared some of the ingredients, he wasn't overly willing to just just out and out tell us how to make them. Our server was a young man named Ian. He was simply amazing. Y'all know how I feel about good servers. No matter how good the meal is, I won't be back if I don't get good service. Ian knew his menu, he answered way too many questions that we old folks always ask, and he was very friendly the whole time. Now that we know where the front door is, I feel like we will be eating here more often. Everything about it was an enjoyable experience for our group of retired teachers.

I met a group of friends at this restaurant around a week after trying the crawfish boil at the food truck. All Jason Dady concepts are trendy and real well put together however everything is cooked catering to the American palate. The 3 stars given is mainly for the service. Our waitress was amazing! Very attentive and super friendly. I cannot complain about the food neither... it is simply missing the wow factor. I will definitely return for friends gathering or special occasions since it is predictable on what you are going to get

Super surprised to see less than 5-stars here, I think this place is excellent. Food was outstanding, service was exceptional - exactly what I'd expect to see from a Jason Dady restaurant. Hubby, from Boston who loves Italian, said his dinner was the best bolognese he's had in Texas. Wish I'd gotten a pic. The food is clean and not overwhelming, although we still left with to-go boxes. Reasonably priced menu options plus a few top tier, more pricey options. I had the pizza ($21) - the crust was so thin and light, all of it so flavorful. Can't wait to come back soon. Cheers!

Sit outside when the weather is asking for it! It is loud so be prepared. The food was decent, though pricey. I got the pizza and it was alright. The dough wasn't entirely baked thru. Brisket lasagna tasted great but the portion was ridiculously small. Mother loved her dish, which I forgot the name. Otherwise this place is great for drinks and sitting outside!

We went here during restaurant week and I ordered the smoked brisket Lasagna and the flavor was AMAZING . We also ordered the salmon which was also really good! For dessert we had the Nutella torte. Overall this was a really nice restaurant. Our waitress was really nice and helped us decide what to order.

They knocked it out of the park with the menu & the execution. Very versatile options while still remaining a familiar feel. The ambiance is awesome as well, there's indoor & outdoor seating with two levels. Outside there are two patios with both overlooking the rock at La Cantera (an impressive installation for the community with a HUGE screen for showing sports/movies, a splash pad, basketball, & more). Our server was Cassie & even though we came in late, she still welcomed us warmly. Everything came out absolutely amazing. We had an apple & goat cheese salad, arancini, brisket lasagna, grueyere & potato ravioli, & the sweet tea brined pork loin. Sheesh! Everything was amazing flavor bomb. We'll be back to try another tour of the menu soon!

Had reservations on a Saturday night for a group of eight. By chance, all of us ordered something different. It was frustrating because some of the portions almost looked like kid menu size while others were MASSIVE in size. All of us enjoyed our meal. Our server was amazing and did a great job of taking care of the large group...

Roca & Martillo was a great experience I was able to stop by for a quick appetizer and it definitely hit the spot. I ordered the Burrata Di Búfala, great combination of flavors. It was the perfect temp came with fresh strawberry's Prosciutto di Parma, Fennel-Pink Peppercorn Jam, Basil & Tigelle Italian Streetbread. The street bread was my favorite part but everything mixed into one bite really brought the meal together. The service was also very attentive and the atmosphere was a nice relaxing spot to chat and grab drinks. Hope to visit again soon for the full experience!

Went out to try this place and the location, service, and food were very nice. Hit the happy hour if you can. We ordered the bolognese and a burger. The bolognese was very good. The burger was good but could have used a little more seasoning. Great, fun area for sure.

Wifey and I have been here twice, both times with groups. First time we sat outside, the second time at the upstairs room. My best description for this place is truly hit and miss. Not much in between. The service is a mess. It is slow and inconsistent. The bartenders don't know the menu or the drinks. I had the Bolognese pasta, which was excellent. My daughter had fried chicken which was out with a great crispy crust and super tender meat inside. Her daughter had chicken tenders, which were out of this world. Everything else was subpar and disappointing. My wife had a. Caesar salad with grilled chicken on top. The chicken was dry and tasteless. The drinks are OK, but not great. I can't say we wouldn't return, but we know to expect average.

Wow! Roca and Martillo has it all! The food, Italian cuisine, is absolutely amazing. Their dishes are made with fresh ingredients and are as flavorful as they are beautiful in their presentation. I've visited several times and I like that they take reservations but also have plenty of seating indoors and out. The service is always great regardless of how busy they are. The dining area is beautiful and there is even a roof top bar!!! This place is a wonderful compliment to The Rock area.

The margarita is small but lethal.

We did not have reservations and went knowing this. The hostess said it was a like 45 minutes to an hour wait. With being mothers day and all, we expected it. However they had a spritzer cart outside for the waiting patrons! Fantastic idea! It was warm but not too terribly hot when we arrived so we opted to brief look at their desserts and then went outside to a couple of tables. We then went to the spritzer cart and ordered a few drinks and it hi perfectly with the sunny weather. And after finishing the drink our table was pretty much ready. It was not even 30 minutes in waiting. Probably 20 minutes. We were sat at two round tables near the bar which was ok, but our daughter has a boot on for her foot but she managed ok. We weren't expecting that but it was ok. They didn't know. We were greeted by our server and promptly got our drink orders and all our food order. What we did was view the menu beforehand. We ordered three appetizers. The meatball ferris wheel, the grilled octopus, and Nonna's garlic bread. The drinks were all delish! The first app that came out was the garlic bread. I have to say is the absolute star of the food here. If you are here, please order it. It's the thing to have. And the butter that comes with it just elevated it to another level. It's that good. Actually better than the entrees in my opinion. The next was the meatball ferris wheel. This showcase the flavors of the entrees for me. It was indeed fun to see. Each meatball was really good and they didn't skimp on the meatballs here. It was very good and the temperature was perfect. The last was the grilled octopus. It was super tender and the sauce was good but we learned they used spicy peppers a lot in their dishes to bring out the flavors. This was the beginning and it was a solid level 1 of 5 of spice level. If you are not into spicy dishes they foreshadows a majority of the entrees here. The grilled octopus was great. And the potatoes go with it perfectly. For our meals, I got the spaghetti and red clam sauce which is spicy. My wife ordered the risotto pescatore, which is a seafood dish, and my daughter got the pork chop my way and she had it Parmesan style. The risotto pescatore came out first and it is supposedly spicy but because none of my family does spicy like me, the sis not as the peppers in the dish. And because of that, the dish tasted kind of bland and only tasted the seafood mixed together. Not bad but was unsatisfying unfortunately. So it's not the fault of the kitchen or chef. It's not made as listed so it will not really taste how it's supposed to m the server and manager pretty much came by and address the issue even though it's no fault of their own. They did offer her a side spaghetti l, which is more than enough at this point, because of all the appetizers we has filled up on. My spaghetti and red clam sauce was actually really good. I could taste the pasta being made in house. The clams with the spicy sauce was great and satisfying. The pork chop. It was just big. I mean hanging over the plate large. Our server and another server said it is big but that was the biggest pork chop they've ever seen come out of the kitchen. It was hilarious. But it tasted so good. Think chicken fried steak but pork chop. And it was delicious as well. Just too much for one person. Especially after all the appetizers! Dessert was the special they had for mother's day weekend. It was a raspberry tiramisu and it was so creamy and smooth. It was one of the better desserts I've had in a while. I also had a cappuccino and they was perfect as well. A great ending to to meal. We haven't eaten that much in a long time. The drinks and appetizers are spectacular. The entrees are good but not the stars of the show for us. But we enjoyed the food journey here!

One of the standout moments was the appetizers, especially the meatballs Ferris wheel -- a unique presentation that immediately sets the tone for the meal. It's playful, shareable, and surprisingly well-executed. The fresh pasta is another highlight. It feels both familiar and inventive at the same time. Overall, this is a strong new addition to the San Antonio Italian scene. Located in La Cantera and adjacent to Perry's, it's a large location but parking can be a bit tricky at times. It's loud, so don't come here if you're looking for quiet and intimate. More or less a hang out, kick it with friends kinda vibe. By the door, they have chewy caramels that you can nosh on while waiting for your table or to grab on your way out. Maybe we did both? lol they even sell some small apothecary type stuff as well. Ok let's get to the food! We got the crab cake and the colossal cinnamon roll to start. The kids loved the colossal cinnamon roll. Perfectly balanced with a toffee sauce and spiced pecans. Husband wanted savory so he got the crab cake. It's not Maryland style but it uses gulf crab and a mustardy-seed mix. He and the eldest really enjoyed it! Me, I liked the pickled onions and frisée. I got the steak & eggs hash with a sunny side up egg and medium steak. The steak was just right and had a good flavor. The shishito peppers could've used a touch of salt but they were a good contrast to the crispy fried potatoes, which were large chunks by the way. If only I could have a whole saucier of the avocado hollandaise . It was delicious on the potatoes and the steak! The shrimp and grits were definitely diff from the version we had last year but we liked it! Very vibrant and fresher tasting! The eldest had chicken and waffle. Comes with 2 tenders, 2 eggs your way (she chose sunny side), 1 waffle, syrup and creamy sausage gravy. I normally don't care for sausage gravy but this was NTS! The youngest had the kids Macaroni and cheese, which comes with your choice of 1 side (we chose green beans). We were pleasantly surprised to see it also came with carrots, which she happily ate. Like and crunchy green beans with a creamy and cheesy Mac! Servers don't hover and there's plenty walking around if you need to grab someone's attention for something.
