Came here last night on a whim with Ingrid S. after attending the Lollpalooza of career fairs last night. We were on a professional mini-bender and in desperate need of noms. Cheesy noms. As per usual, neither of us were craving anything in particular and nothing in the immediate neighborhood was looking particularly appetizing...we finally decided that we wanted cheesy...I was craving pasta...but Italian places in this hood are to be savored for more formal dinner plans - not for mini-bender munchies time. Pizza. YEAH, PIZZA WORKS AND THEY MIGHT EVEN SELL PASTA! I was sold. To be honest I would have gotten pasta here had they had something creamy inspired or preferably, freakin' Alfredo sauce. Between you, me and the billions of people that visit Yelp on a daily basis - I love Alfredo sauce. I can't get enough of the stuff. It's my spirit ani-sauce. It's my spirit sauce. But they do have regular tomato sauce pasta, lasagna, some salads, garlic knots and other rando Italian-inspired options on their menu - all reasonably priced. Between it looking clean, having a Department of Health "A" grade and smelling yummy inside we were sold on making this our home for the next 35 minutes. We ended up getting a cheestastic cheesy calzone (which came served with a small side and a slice of sweet, Italian sausage pizza. Lots of great pizza places in the area. Ordered through seamless a small cheese pizza and we were pleasantly surprised with the size of pie we got. It was 6 huge slices and came hott. Pizza was a little on the greasy side and nothing to rave about so that's why it's 3 stars. Did it said it satisfy my pizza craving? Hell yea!!!! read more

Rocco's has been my go-to pizza place since forever. I don't know why, but once they moved to their 8th avenue location the pizza seemed to me to dip in quality. My neighborhood pizza joint in my work area. If i'm craving a pizza slice for lunch this is the place for me to go. From the exterior its misleading it doesn't look like a pizza joint but more of a diner 50's frontage. Walk in and you'll find your typical pizza oven and counter. I'm a fan of the Eggplant slice, meaty slices of breaded fried eggplant, and the grandma slice. Crispy on the edges and soft on the center with a great savory pizza sauce. Go for the garlic knots as well. Crispy, garlicy, and soft breaded knots that go well with their house pizza sauce served on the side. read more

I ordered and realized I ordered from the wrong restaurant and it wasn't for delivery I called to switch to delivery and it was too far to deliver so I asked for a refund seeing that I couldn't pick up because of no transportation and the restaurant was closing in less then 30 minutes and I was 35 minutes away I was told I would not get a refund by the restaurant also wouldn't be able to get the food the next day unless they froze the pizza they already had made and given to me from the night before HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND they stole $50 from me and REFUSED to do anything about it I would give no stars if I could read more

Gramma's style pizza is some of the best square pizza I've had in NYC. The wheat dough with veggies is full of flavor. The other pizzas are average. read more

I'm a pizza junkie, so it's hard to disappoint me with a bad slice. It was a rainy day and I was craving a quick snack. I Yelped to check where's the closest pizza place, and this one brought up. I went in, the place is pretty casual, nice, nothing special. The slices come in squares. I took the regular "Grandma" pizza, whole wheat and one with olives. Each slice was approximately 3.50$, which is pretty pricy, but casual for a place located in Chelsea. I grabbed Cola Zero and waited around 2-3 minutes for my pizza to warm up. The slices were good. Some places make the whole wheat pizza pretty tasteless, but here it was pretty good. I liked the regular better than the one with the olives. Overall, good experience. Not sure I'll come back, but if I ever be in the area, and it'll be raining, I might stop by again. read more

Absolutely delicious! Ordered a margarita pie and a mushroom pie and it came hot and on time. Each bite was better than the next.

These guys are cheap and push old pizza on non suspecting delivery orders. I ordered a large grandma pie about 20 minutes before closing. I received the pizza and to my surprise while the outer corners of the pie looked great but the inner pieces looked very oily and much darker than the rest. As I pulled the pieces apart it turns out they pieced together a pizza for me based on what they had left at the end of the night (the center was whole wheat dough and the outer was regular pizza dough). Not to mention I ordered the pie with no cheese due to a dairy allergy. I can see reminents of the cheese that they peeled off the pizza. Totally f*cked up....lose a customer so that you can save $1?? read more

First of all i thought it could be probably mine ( but i have a pony tail, so it was impossible), but then i mixed my pasta with fork and found another one. This disgusting! Really! I'm not too familiar with pizza joints around this area but I came here with a friend who is a regular customer and works in the area. Nice little spot and people kept coming in and out but it wasn't too crowded given the time of day. They have a great lunch special of 2 slices and a drink for about $5.50 or $5.75, a good deal if you're on a budget. My friend took this deal but I decided on a regular slice and a white slice. Once I placed my order is when I realized they had delicious grandma slices....next time for sure. Ok, now, for the pizza. Huge slices! Normally I am a two slice kind of girl but after I was done with the first slice I felt like I was going to take a nap right there on the table. Don't worry, I finished my second slice and it was really good. I just felt super sleepy right after. So, my tip to you would be order 1 slice first and see if you can handle it. 3.5 stars. Aside from the abundance of 2 Bros in the area, places you can walk in and grab a good slice aren't overly common. Rocco's definitely hits the nail on the head there though, and when I stumbled in (this is a theme in my reviews), I was pretty satisfied with what I got. It's sad how most NY pizzerias are using the same cheese from elementary school lunch's/Elios' pizza. I know times are tough, but when you are going to charge a lot anyway, please use decent ingredients. Rocco's is one of the few joints left using proper cheeses and sauces. How do you know? Because the grease on the top of the pizza is orange, not white. Yes, $2.50 a slice is much, but that seems to be the standard price for a slice now, so I rather pay the same for better quality. read more

Decent pizza. The seating is classic pizza parlor style, very neighborhoodsy. I ordered an eggplant slice, lasagna slice, and meatball side. The eggplant pizza was healthier than I expected (my experience revolves around greasy, deep-fried, breaded, and paper-thin eggplant slices), which wasn't necessarily good--the eggplant was a bit bland and soggy. The lasagna bolognese slice was much better--salty and greasy (don't you dare wipe it off!) and savory. There were liberal crumbles of beef on the top and the cheese was of the hot, gooey, I-keep-on-stretching-this-with-my-teeth-but-it-still-won't-come-apart-variety (and it was fresh mozzarella! Bonus!). The crust was perfectly thin and crispy, spot-on Italian-style. Both slices were around $4. The meatball side (you had a choice of beef or turkey) was simply delectable. For only four bucks, you can get four large meatballs swimming in musky marinara sauce and let me tell you, these are not of the store-bought variety. I can't exactly put my finger on it, but it might have to do with the smoother texture and lower sodium. And it all came with half of a fluffy Italian hero, still warm from the oven. A very heavy meal, but in a good way. Friendly employees. The guy at the cash register always smiles at the customers. The joint is never empty, any time of the day. A solid four stars. read more

Stopped in late around 12:00 since this place was around the corner from our hotel. Staff a bit srcstic, and funny I have to admit. Pizza was good not the best pizza in NYC but good when you ate hugry. Also got a make your own salad was a Greek was very good. Good if you are in Chelsea and need a late night snack. read more

Went here with a friend to grab a bite to eat for a late dinner. The place was not crowded at all, so we were able to order right away and find a seat. I ordered a couple slices of the grandma pizza and we split some meatballs. The grandma pizza was decent, as it had some good flavor in the sauce, but lacked that nice crunchy crust texture that I love in pan pizzas. The meatballs on the other hand were pretty run of the mill and nothing special. Fast and cheap, regular slices are $2.75, they have a $10 minimum on credit cards, there's about 7 tables in the place, no power outlets if you need to charge your phone (I did so I checked). I had the Grandma Slice as all the other reviews here mentioned, and it was a pretty tasty slice of pizza. They have a decent selection of bottled juices and sodas (Boylan's and Snapple and San Pellegrino and others) as well as fountain drinks. Good place for a snack. read more

There are pizza places every so many 100 feet in NYC, but not all of them are all that great, but Rocco's is ! This place is always spotless inside and outside of the storefront. The employees are always kind and polite. I'm a firm believer that pizza sauce can make or break the pizza and it's great. Since I had a good first impression with the pizza sauce I decided to try out the grande ravioli lunch special, I was very impressed. read more
