I also consider myself a pizza connoisseur, next to ribeyes,barbecue and key lime pie, I'm probably saying my fourth is pizza. It's totally different than Chicago pizza, and I think it's because of the water I really do!!! What separates pizza places are either the ingredients, or in this place, what separates them is their crust. They make everything fresh right in front of you, pictures are below. Jennie took our order and she walked us through the menu. We ended up getting a big margherita pizza. My son got the 2 tomato slices, he isn't a big cheese fan. My wife got pepperoni, they have beef pepperoni or pork pepperoni. Mikey Love was really cool he came out and greeted me. My kids got a drink, and then guess what, their gelato was actually top tier. I went for pizza and found out the Geloto was was awesome. You go to a pizza place and then get gelato. They had vanilla and watermelon, it was so good. I got some for my daughter, I tasted it, and one of my self them one of my sons wanted some as well. Bernadette was making them and having a great time. Frankly, I think the prices were cheaper than what I pay in Austin area, and the food and venue were authentic and much better than in Texas!

Had been going here since I moved into the neighborhood all was good and i loved this place. I should of known things were going to be bad in their future when I ordered a few slices of pizza for my Mom who spent the day in the ER. I ended up canceling that order because I kept getting the run around them saying he left, then it's I don't see an order here I'm sorry. Then to my surprise they changed management and the new management does not know how to cook pizza. I ordered a few slices and it was doughy like they didn't even cook it it was just thrown into the box. I called and told them and I was told IF i want it crispy i have to ask for it WELL how about if i want it cooked do i have to tell them that too. Never again. So my dear friend from the region joined me for a quick pizza lunch and I ordered a slice and a square while my friend only had a single regular slice. Diet Coke and Sprite were the drinks and we sat and chatted to catch up while enjoying this quality offering. Now I can say that there were a ton of different varieties of pizza at Mancini's but I just wanted the regular versions for this visit. The place itself is cozy and the staff very friendly and I will most certainly go back but only after I get some of the other places on my personal list checked off. His parents, John and Maria Cicero, founded the Original John's Deli in Brooklyn's Gravesend neighborhood in 1968. The Cicero Family created what has become known as the "best hero in Brooklyn!" Although location on the corner of 86th Street and Stillwell Avenue still stands, it is no longer owned by the Cicero Family. The family does own and operate two newer locations, dubbed "John's Deli Hero King" in Brooklyn's Dyker Heights neighborhood as well as Staten Island. After many years of working in the delis, the Cicero's son Robert began taking up the art of crafting exceptional pizza. When a location opened up down the street from John's Deli's Dyker Heights location, Robert seized the opportunity to turn it into his own artisanal pizzeria. I recently visited Dyker Pizza Company for lunch while I was cycling around NYC. I was trying out a number of Brooklyn breweries and pizzerias and this was my first stop of the day. I arrived just as they opened for the day. I told the employee that I'm from New Haven and asked if they pronounced 'apizza' the same way that we do in the Elm City: [ah-BEETS]. He confirmed that they did. It seems that from the late 19th century until around the 1950s or so, most Italian-Americans referred to pizza as "apizza" whether it was New Haven-style pizza or not. The employee explained to me that the pizza at Dyker Pizza Company is a hybrid between New Haven-style and the artisanal sourdough style that is becoming more common in NYC. Customers can order by-the-slice or whole pies. I was pretty hungry, and after looking over the menu I decided to order the "Pesto and Prosciutto" (ricotta cream, shredded mozzarella, basil pesto, prosciutto). The cheese was creamy, the pesto tasted fresh, and the crust had equal parts char and chew. This was really good pizza and I must give Dyker Pizza Company my seal of approval!
