This place's brunch is just amazing. The buffet in my opinion is actually better than Founding Farmer's buffet. The price of buffet is 25 dollars, but you can get so much from that. Three cooking stations are available, pasta, omelette, and quesadillas. Try the desserts, they are great, not to mention the chocolate fountain. read more

First time at Rockwood tonight - and it was because of a trivia game that was heavily advertised. The place was jammed full - a total of about 47 teams were playing which probably translated to between 200 and 250 people. We were seated (8 people) in no more than 10 minutes, the food and drinks were served in a reasonable time, and the food was delicious. Our waiter never got flustered, did not miss an order and also was quick off the mark with checks. I would certainly recommend the place. We were on the small back patio which I also recommend on a beautiful, warm spring evening. read more

I am bit conflicted. I really wished this place was just a restaurant and not a sports bar because the food was really good. We have enough of bars in this area. I didn't not realize it was going to be 80% bar from the looks of the website. We went on Saturday night at about 8pm. We noticed a little sign that said there was karaoke starting at 10. I was concerned but it was 2 hours away so I figured we would still be fine. There are so few actual dining tables we ended up being seated at a hightop. The crowd was very loud even though no one was really paying attention to the sports on the screens. It was still fine. The waitress was great, she warned us about the karaoke being obnoxiously loud. I said we saw the little sign up front that it started at 10. She said 930-10 is when they would probably start. That was still 1.5 hours, we should still be good. The guy running the karaoke decided to start 9pm. This absolutely ruined our meal. We were seated 15 feet away from the speakers that were turned up WAY too loud for such a small place. We probably should have just left but we had already ordered food. Our group just stopped talking to each other because it was pointless to try a combat the loudness. Our food came, we inhaled it and left as soon as possible. All the food was extremely good but we couldn't even enjoy it. The waitress was very apologetic about the whole thing. We got back to our car and we could still hear the karaoke when we were close to 500 feet away from the place without any of the doors open. TLDR: Great food, Great service, but overall one of the worst dining experience I have ever had. If you are the bar type, it will be right up your alley. read more

Have been here 3 times. First time was good. Fried chicken sandwich was really good. 2nd time for buffet brunch. Not great. Fried chicken was really good. Not much else. 3rd time tonight. Not sure how you screw up a wedge salad, but they did it. First, not a wedge, but the bottom, gross half of a head of iceberg, bacon, tomato, fried onion straws that wre cold, chewy and tasteless. Very little blue cheese dressing so had to ask for extra. Didnt matter, it wasnt the good stuff. Money not at all well spent tonight. We went to this restaurant not knowing anything about it-we just happened to be in the area and hungry. It was a Sunday and they had an extensive brunch which my husband loved. I chose an omelette from the A La Carte menu which they made vegetarian for me and it was fantastic. Our waitress Jennica was friendly and her service was excellent. Except for the 20-some televisions, the decor is lovely; beautiful-industrial modern and clean looking. We will be back next time we are in that area. read more

Always in the mood to try something new. Our first visit wasn't the best the food wasn't hot and it didn't taste well flavored. We had to wait for the server on a few occasions. And the dessert was not well proportioned. For a first trip it wasn't worth the price but I would say try it for yourself, maybe it was an off day. read more

I really like rockwood. They have great happy hour specials. The fries are really good and very different. I also really like the shrimp fajitas but when you order them make sure you ask for them to cook the veggies well done otherwise they are pretty much raw. read more

This was our first time here and I gotta say I was very impressed. We were greeted with smiles and a warm welcome. The atmosphere was amazing, especially for the Caps game. The nachos and deep fried peanut butter cups were succulent!! The best part was the service from our bartender, Hanna! After three visits to this location I will definitely be a regular customer. So far I have tried the following: triple tacos, nacho libre, mini empanadas, sesame crusted ahi tuna, rock the stack burger, Caesar salad with salmon, and sidewinder fries. Everything was delicious and cooked/prepared to perfection. I can't say enough about the flavor of the food and presentation. Portions are perfect. I believe my new task in life will be to try everything they have on the menu...and then start over again. It is truly that good. Waitstaff is super friendly and efficient. Restaurant itself is clean, upscale, and has great energy with a busy bar (but not overly noisy). Lots of booths, tables, and hightops to sit at. I like that the manager walks around checking on tables making sure customers are happy. It's a nice change to some of the other Gainesville restaurants. Looking forward to watching the Capitals on those big screen televisions this fall. read more

My first visit to this restaurant was a disaster! There was an ant floating in my water and the cup that it was in had a film on the inside that I was able to scratch off. I ordered traditional wings and when I got them, I thought they were day old wings! The skin was incredibly dry and all the sauce was on the plate, not the wings. When I was choking down my first wing, I saw a poinsettia plant falling in my peripheral vision from the partition and it landed on my back! Apparently our server was at a table on the other side of the partition and the woman diner was trying to look at a dish my son had and she knocked over the plant. Our server came to our table to help and all she said was "the plant isn't that heavy". What? Really? At that point I reached my wits end, got up to leave, saw a bunch of dirt from the plant on the seat, walked over to our server and told her I wasn't paying for the terrible food! Needless to say, I'll never go back there! read more

I just came back from the MOST AWESOME brunch at Rockwood! From the large selection of delicious food, the Bloody Mary bar, carving station, I can go on and on. The ambience is beautiful. Honestly it was one of the best customer service experiences I have had in the restaurant business in a long time. The General Manager (I think his name was Adam), went above and beyond to make my family, friends and I feel comfortable. It's such a nice touch that as a Manager, he kept coming around to make sure everything was perfect. I can't wait to go back again, as this is sure to be my new "go to" spot! read more

Wow, just happened to visit this place the first day they ever had a Sunday brunch. The place was packed but we were seated pretty quickly. The all you can eat brunch was fantastic! A taco station, ribs, fried chicken, and of course the usual breakfast items. I didn't try everything they had but what I did was really good. The kids loved the strawberry's and the chocolate fountain. The service was great and overall the experience gets two thumbs up from my family. My husband and I went for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The hostesses were very kind and greeted us as soon as we walked in but everything else was very "meh". The waitress didn't greet us as we sat down just kind of stared at us and said "what would you like to drink". She barely checked on us. Another server had to fill our drinks. The food was good but it all came out luke warm. We ordered the pigs in a blanket which were pretty good but would have been better hot and the grilled cheese and tomato soup. Again, would have been better hot. I could maybe have some understanding if it were a little busier but it was fairly slow when we went. We may try again but I wasn't impressed. read more

Went to the newly-opened Rockwoods restaurant in Gainesville, Virginia on Friday night. Asked the server by the name of Bryant for his recommendation. He told me that his ABSOLUTE favorite is the Angus Steak Fritas so I ordered it. In the meantime, Nick, one of the owner's stopped by my table and introduced himself. He explained that his brother, Anthony works there and his father is the chef. When the steak arrived, it was the perfect proportion (not super big and not small) and is boneless. This steak is the ABSOLUTE BEST steak I have EVER eaten. Am super thankful to Bryant for pointing it out to me on the menu. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Rockwoods !!! The service and food are IMPECCABLE !!! My wife and I visited this past Saturday for the first time. We sat at the bar and helped right away by friendly staff members. Even though it was a soft opening we didn't have to wait for drinks and not very long for food as we might of expected. This is a wonderful atmosphere if you are looking to go out for sports, quality of food/decor/staff surpasses buffalo wild wing by a mile. We look fwd to the grand opening and will be back for sure!
