This is the best Sunday brunch in Gainesville. The food is amazing. From crab legs, to the carving station, to the omelet station and the desserts. I saw the general manager Adam the one with glasses, in his Rockwood shirt taking shots behind Rockwood at the bar Grafton Street and then coming back to work,where I met up with a couple friends afterwards as well, still with his Rockwood shirt on. Met some friends for happy hour. The service was absolutely amazing, but the food was just average. Do not get the rueben balls. They were literally disgusting. Others at the table said their food was good. I'm sure I'll go back, so I guess I will see if I agree. As for the overall experience.....For the amount of time that it took this place to open I was a little disappointed. I'm not sure what I expected, but it was significantly underwhelming. It has a lot of TVs, but there was nothing that stood out from any other sports bar I've been to. It literally looks like every other "upscale" sports bar. It was just kind of blah...especially for all the hype. Several people that were with our table actually asked if we thought the place was finished. Anyway, like I said, we will go back because we know it takes a while for new restaurants to get their act together. Rockwood always delivers great service with amazing food . We have been a few times and will continue going back to experience the great options. Ate here for the first time tonight after reading the Yelp reviews and our experience was disappointing. My husband ordered the Slow Roasted Angus Prime Rib large portion. A lot of it was grisly and inedible. I ordered the fajitas beef, shrimp combo. It was okay but I have had better at Uncle Julio's. What will prevent me from returning though is the extremely loud music and announcements. The decibels, if measured, would undoubtedly be at a level to cause damage to hearing. Another couple near us also were very disturbed. It was so loud it made me nauseous. I asked the waitress to have them turn down the music and she said she would but it was never lowered. Next time, I will drive a little farther and eat at Sweetwater. The food is much better there and they are very responsive to any customer issue, which we rarely experience. read more

The food was very good. Our server Troy was very friendly and attentive. My only complaint was that there were no tables/booths big enough for a family of 5. The restaurant wasn't busy but there literally were no tables big enough. Everything was a 4 top. We were squished in a tiny booth. But otherwise we had a great experience. Nice environment with many TVs and a nice outdoor seating area. My friend and I went around 9:30pm on a Monday so there wasn't a lot of people there but the service was very quick. The servings are pretty big we ordered chips and queso, beef nachos, and chicken and shrimp combo fajitas and the size of each dish were ginormous. Went last weekend and was super underwhelmed. Went for a date night for dinner and live music. We ordered two appetizers, tuna and chicken sliders. The tuna had no flavor and no dipping sauce. The sliders... bun was huge in comparison to the tiny dried chicken piece in between the two sliders. The sliders also lacked flavor and the teeny drip of aioli on he bun didn't help. Live music was good and the place has a cool vibe.... but we decided to go elsewhere for dinner rather than waste money on a meh dinner, bummer. read more

Sadly, this review is strictly based on customer service, since we weren't given the opportunity to try the food. Called at 9 am hoping someone would pick up so we could see if any reservations were available for breakfast. The website says to call for reservations. I was told to call 30 minutes before arrival. Came in after calling ahead before you even opened and getting there 30 minutes after calling in (15 minutes after you opened), we were told that there would be at least a 45 minute wait. Then we watched a party of 7 and a party of 2 just walk right in. I believe they may have sat in the bar area, but it's not illegal for toddlers to be seated in the bar area. We spend more money, not less with a toddler in tow. He is well behaved, so when a restaurant causes the stress of having a toddler it's a red flag for us. There are higher end brunches in NOVA that take reservations and happily accept toddlers. Not every toddler runs around like crazy and they are customers too.--after quite a bit of back and forth, all we got was a "sorry" and that they don't know why this happened. They didn't even say they'd address it with their staff. The response received wasn't reassuring at all. We will continue to drive east and spend more for better service. A longer drive is less stressful than what we dealt with here. read more

Been waiting for Rockwood to open, seems like it took way to long. Don't recommend going if you want to talk to the people at your table. All the stone, wood and lack of acoustic ceiling tiles makes the place so noisy that even the wait staff has to bend down to be able to hear your order. Food okay, typical bar food. My burger was a real thing of beauty, with dill pickle on top, but the meat while very good quality had no detectable seasoning and just came off rather bland. Enjoyed the french fries a clever cut and nicely done. Wife's salad looked good and she seemed to enjoy it. Wait staff very attentive, and prompt. Rare that I don't like a wine, but the Pino Grigio didn't please my taste buds and wouldn't order it again. Sadly this is probably a one time visit for us, while the service was very good, food was okay, it is just too loud! read more

Great food and service was fine during a weeknight. My big complaint and why I wont g back is the seating is hosed. The booths are made for 1 1/2 people not 2 on each side. And the tables are small as hell. Not sure how they put in such screwed up tables in this place. If they fixed that I would be back often I believe. The TV's are great as well. read more

We went to the Rockwood as the after-party for my daughter and son-in-laws wedding, and we had such a blast that many of us kept coming back the next few days while everyone was still in town. Karaoke was great Saturday - they had lots of microphones so no one person was totally on the spot, and they kept it open late for us. One of the other days we had a big group there they kept it open late for us as well. The outside area was great - nice contrast to the party atmosphere inside if you just wanted to take some time to chill and talk. Staff was very friendly, and we had great times there. Sunday brunch buffet is excellent but extremely expensive at 29.99 per adult ( the only reason I'm not selecting 5 stars) Great selection of fresh made hot foods as well as fruits and deserts on the buffet. We'll always give a new place a try, so we gave Rockwood a chance. Decent surroundings/decor, but very little more comfy booth seating... but that's probably not what they're looking for obviously. Tiny four-tops with little to no room for more than 2 and appetizers. Took a family of four including two small (9 and 11) kids and two adults. Only one alcoholic drink was ordered, one pretzel app and no desserts. With tip we were sitting at nearly $75 with no "fancy" entrees... no steak, no seafood etc. if the quality were higher than a Ruby Tuesday's or Fridays I'd have had less of a problem with it. Burgers were obviously pre-formed/frozen patties. No finesse or taste with any dishes... I fear it's a kitchen filled with college kids pushing buttons on a microwave. I doubt we'll go back. Too pricey for what it is. read more
