Turned out to be a stuck fuel valve and it was fixed before noon. I dropped it off sometime between 830-9am. Zach in particular is always great to work with and the entire crew are amazing. I can't say they're the cheapest because they don't take any short cuts and only use quality parts but they're not the most expensive either. I have friends that have also gone to Rocky's for much more serious issues and they pretty much feel the same as I do. I myself was referred to them by a friend a few years back and I could not be more grateful. I highly recommend this shop. The clutch on my Acura was going bad. I called up a bunch of places. One wanted to keep the car for a month! Acura wanted about $3,400 to do the job. They might have been able to fix the car in one day too, which no other shop said they could do, but they found some additional issues with the car, one of which they worked on for me for no additional charge. Took entire day off work for this. Booked appt on Mon for Thurs- called confirmed apt on Wed. Van there at 8am. Was told the Dye test had already been done bc of previous AC charge. Zack called at 9:55 with ac compressor, 2 hoses, clean evap, &'oil change Estimate. Gave ok for work at 10:45am asked REPEATEDLY if it would finished by end of day- bc if not I'd decline bc unable to take another day off. So 11- 5 that is 6 hours. Told YES - he also asked Rocky who said yes and was reassured. Received call at 3pm that they received ONE wrong hose. That it would be there in the am and that it would "be finished by this time tomorrow". So that's Friday by 3pm. Blamed part store delivery for " wrong part" Even though I was shocked & upset about the info I initially agreed ..,,then called min later and asked if they'd even started on any of the work. Rocky said NO. Told them I was coming up for it. Got there at 4pm they had just finished oil change. Now to top it off when I get there Rocky tells and blames ME saying that " well, you went back & forth until go ahead for order not until at 1pm" Excuse me?! what the **** ?!?!! absolute COMPLETE bullsh*t. You need to ask Zack his time stamps, but he was on a call when I came for it. Charged and paid for oil change. Thank you for the all day oil change. wondered why if I was notified at 3 pm -the van had been there since 8 am -to be told they received ONE incorrect hose - then WHY wouldn't you have worked while it was there the ENTIRE day to complete the compressor and other hose? until you " received the right one first thing in the morning ". ? HORRIBLE experience the van has no AC. I made the appt. was timely, and trusted what I was told .... only for me to get blamed for not approving it in time? Which is an absolute, total lie. Rocky failed me. I went to him to get my gearbox on my 2003 Chevy Tahoe repaired or replaced, wheel alignment, to get the spear tire re-mounted under the rear of the truck and to troubleshoot the AC as to why it will not hold a charge. Rocky literally reversed my truck about 3ft and drove it up onto a lift bay. That was the extent of his road test of my vehicle. Once it was up in the air he started talking new tire, shocks, that was all it needed. He said he has been working on these types of trucks forever and there is no gearbox, he later said they hardly ever break. Once it was down in the ground he looked at the AC and said it needed a new compressor and he would run die in the line to figure out the source of the problem. I asked for. Minor repairs on certain things and was told it would be fixed. I was quoted 1800 dollars for all the work that needed to be done. I had a. Max budget of 1600. The previous owner was a mechanic on big rigs in long beach. He told me the gear box needs to be replaced. So one of these guys were lying to me. Al said and done he replaced the compressor on the ac ran the ink they the line told me opps the compressor was fine after all and instead it had to do something to do with a blower in the rear of the truck which was really hard to get to and he wanted 500 more to fix that my budget was 1600 so I wasted the money in my budget on a compressor I did not need and now could not afford to fix the real problem all along which was the blower. That's is just what you call being a lazy machanic! He did the shock work and when he went to put the 5 wheel underneath the truck where it belongs in its bed, there was a loss bolt that held it securely in place. Instead of what any shop would do and send someone to the junk yard to pull that broken nut and replace it, the fabulous machanic decides on my dime that I would spend my money on kepping that loss bolt putting the tire up there and he would put Al piece of metal across the length of the tire using the extra weight yo put pressure on ithe bot and forcing it from wiggling off on the freeway since there was nothing really holding it up. Sure as shit on my way home that day the tire fell out on the freeway and I didn't realize so that was another 300 for a whole new rim and tire and the correct bolt I had to spend 5 months later for something I paid him to do. He did the breaks with cheap ones that lasted only 2 years and when they went out it was so bad I lost the ability to use my emergency parking break. Fuck Rocky and his shop. It took me years to get around to finally post this review because the effects of his work lasted this long. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME GOING TO THIS SHOP! THE OWNER HAD AN ATTITUDE THAT HE WAS BETTER THEN YOU THE CUTOMER SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE AND THE WORK IS TERRIBLE. THERE YOU GO ROCKY. We used to bring all of our vehicles here. Then, about a year ago, I brought my daughter's truck to have the brakes looked at before she was to drive back to NorCal. Rocky changed the brake pads and said he changed the oil as well. I asked why, as this had just been done a month ago at another garage. He couldn't remember why. Okay, fine. Waste of oil. My daughter picks up the truck and drives around LA for a day doing errands. She gets home and says her truck smells funny. I went out to check and sure enough, she's right. Smells like burning oil. I pop the hood. Oil over every square inch of the engine as they forgot to put the oil cap on! She was just about to set out for SF that day! I called and spoke to Rocky about it, explaining what happened. He just "uh huhs" and NEVER apologizes. He asks me to drive the truck back to him. I explain that it has no oil in it. He actually inferred I should put a few quarts in. Luckily his son had the decency to offer to drive over, put oil in and take it back to clean it. I went back the next day to pick it up and Rocky again never apologizes, only acts inconvenienced. I let him know he would never get another dime from me. I'm sure he doesn't care as he always has customers, but he was a rude, unprofessional ass. Never again. Anyone who needs work should go to Florin's right up the street from him. read more

I had a great experience at Rocky's - I reached out to them via Yelp after a recommendation from a few friends and they absolutely did not disappoint. Once I received a response to my quote, I chatted with Zach and was able to bring in my car the very next day. I dropped my car off a few minutes before 8am and by 11:30am, they had performed two services and checked on another for me, my car was ready! I'd previously been taking my car for service at Toyota of Hollywood for a couple of reasons: 1. I'm kinda a sucker and love rules. 2. I had ToyotaCare for several years so many of my services were bought and paid for. Once my ToyotaCare ran out, the price of their service just became untenable. For the two services Rocky's eventually helped me out with, Toyota of Hollywood quoted me literally 3x more than I ended up paying at Rocky's. And Zach was super helpful and answered my questions and absolutely did not recommend service I didn't need, something we can all appreciate. I found Rocky on AAA. So I called him for an estimate on a Wednesday. (You could just feel the good vibes.) I gave him the engine light code. He explained what to expect, which was consistent with what I was previously told about the code. The estimate he provided was even better than that of the shop I had been going to for over 10 years. -- The estimate was so good I called the next morning to make sure I heard right. Zach confirmed it, answered my many questions, and commented on scenarios I presented. He said I could drop off my car off for an official check up (at no charge). So I did and asked more questions. I also asked him to check the acdc/lighter. He confirmed the engine light code a few hours later. He said the parts would get delivered the next day. So I could leave my car overnight. He gave me the assurance I needed to be okay with my car's sleepover. I called a couple of more times because I remembered an oil change was overdue. Then I asked him to check the headlights. -- Zach called the next day to let me know some wrong parts were delivered so they would have to keep my car one more night. -- They completed the work before they closed at noon the next day. It turns out there was nothing wrong with the headlights. So my bill was the amount they quoted me plus the oil change. read more
