Just bad.... Decided to try this place after wondering about it for some years. Huge mistake. Stopped by during their happy hr. Decided to start with some margaritas and asada nachos. Hands down worst nachos I've ever had. The refried beans tasted like something out of a can. Just disgusting. The asada we paid extra to add was such a small amount but worst of all had a weird maybe reheated taste. We didn't even finish them and we were pretty hungry. The margaritas have a very artificial flavor to them. I think buying a premix would have been better. Just not good. I couldn't even finish my margarita. The only plus side is the beers on happy hour pretty good beers. Sit on a busy road and bases the road I don't understand why they have the door open during traffic every single car that drove by the suns reflection would reflect off the glass and just blind us. Oh man..is the food ever good at Rodrigo's. I decided to try something new and popped in here for a quick meal with a friend. She had eaten there before and highly recommended it I had the fajita salad with chicken and was surprised that it came in an edible shell that made this salad one of the best i've ever had. The chicken was SO tender and flavorful. Beans on the bottom, lettuce and tomato. My friend has a 'diet tostada' salad, also with chicken and we both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The guacamole and salsa were amazing..so well made, it made us want to come back for more. The restaurant is clean and the people working there are super friendly and nice. Definitely recommend trying this for a great meal at a fair price. read more

(By the time we left there was a lobby full of people waiting to be seated) The service was surprisingly slow, even though there was only one other table dining at the time, which was a tad disappointing from the start. Though the staff were all super nice. The salsa tasted like canned tomatoes and lacked the fresh/layered flavor you'd expect. The chips were nice and thin- my favorite kind. The rice was average, nothing memorable. The chicken soft taco was good....chicken was fresh, but not something I'd go out of my way to order again. My friend got the beef enchilada and enjoyed her dish but the $2.00 for a side of sour cream seemed a bit excessive. Ordered To Go at the host desk. The gentleman was very nice who took my order. My husband ordered the Chile Colorado Burrito Supreme ($17.50) and liked it. Comes wet with red chile sauce and cheese. Not as good as San Antonio but still a good version. I ordered the Carne Asada Burrito ($21.99) and asked them to add sour cream inside. The beef was a little tough, a bit of gristle. The sour cream was a $2 add on. It was okay, not my favorite. For dessert we got two Flans ($5.75) which were pretty large in size and tasty. Overall it was a good meal but I'm not sure if we'll be back. There's a lot of other Mexican places to check out in the area. read more

I've been coming here for like 40 years but on Monday I reserved the back room and had my wedding reception there! It was $100 to reserve it and that was put towards the price of food. Maria was amazing she and the other servers fed all of us at the same time all the food was terrific and we had a wonderful time. Totally recommend! read more

It was a raining and we happened to be around the corner running some errands and was craving Mexican food. It was a little late for dinner but we checked and they were still opened so we rushed over. The restaurant was much bigger inside then we thought. Not crowded at all, probably 5 tables had guests. The waiters (yes more than 2) greeted us and sat us down and within 2 minutes, another server stopped by smiling with a plate of fresh warm Tortilla Chips with Salsa and Salsa Verde. The Chips were so addicting, we inhaled them and out of nowhere, another batch of chips was served. Starting off good already. We ordered the following: 01. Strawberry Margarita $9 - 4 Stars - Yummy, STRONG and ICY COLD! Heard this is one of their top drinks. Not sure if we just got lucky but it was STRONG. Not complaining, most of the time, it's never this strong at other restaurants. 02. Nachos Grande $18 - 4 Stars - This was a big oval plate (my photo didn't do it justice)! It was HUGE and you can definitely share with 4-5 ppl. It was hot, tasty and so GOOD. The Chips were not soggy at all. Each chip was crispy. One of the best Nachos I've had in a long time. 03. Street Tacos w/ Carne Asada $20.50 - 3 Stars - The meat was a little chewy but had good flavors. The Beans was really GOOD. The Rice, a little dry but we don't normally eat the Rice anyways. 04. Steak Picado $24.75 - 3 Stars _ This was definitely better than the Carne Asada Tacos. The meat with seasoned well and liked the Black Beans. Again, really didn't eat the Rice. 05. Arroz con Camarones y Pollo $22.75 - 2.5 Stars - The seasoning was good, the Chicken was a little dry. Our least liked dish at dinner. 06. 3 Items Combo - Taco, Tamale, Enchilada Plate $20.50 - 4 Stars - Probably our FAVE dish from dinner. The Shredded Beef Taco was moist and tender. The Pork Tamale was pretty good with enough meat ratio to the Masa, also seasoned well. The Cheese Beef Enchilada was really good. We all liked my dish. I like having a little bit of different items so I can really taste different items and not be stuck with one dish that I might not like. CUSTOMER SERVICE - The entire staff (Hostess, Waiters, Servers, Bartender) was so NICE. They were so attentive and was always ahead of what we needed. The food came out really fast and they kept bringing us more Salsas/Chips ad refilled our water without having to ask. PARKING - Plenty of parking spots in the back of the restaurant. VERDICT - I actually would give the restaurant a solid 3.5 Stars but their customer service was great so I rounded it up and gave them a 4 Stars. I would come back to try other dishes but will not order items #3, 4 or 5 again. We really liked the Nachos Grande but now know what to expect. read more

A popular Mexican food dinner was the winning choice and Rodrigo's was our pick. Yes, we've been here lots of times before and I don't Yelp with every visit. We were seated at a booth where Refugio was stationed. We mentioned the Tuesday Taco Bar and preferred to sit at the bar where this is being served. He motioned that we could get our tacos from the dining room...just gotta walk to and fro and do a balancing act. Oh well, we already were in a booth and our drinks of water and ice-cold but sort of "wanting for more" margaritas are already on the table. The lovely missus got helped by grand daughter to get her tacos while I changed my mind about tacos and am waiting for my order of the Chili Verde plate and grand daughter Enchilada plate. Wow... kind of a disappointing chili Verde plate...lots of rice and beans but little morsels of what was once an abundance of porky goodness. I'm sure glad I had ordered a side of salad. For dessert the grand daughter ordered deep fried Icecream and that was met with a smile. I really enjoyed the Baja Tacos deep fried. I enjoyed the Margarita flight which is only $18. The chimichanganitas are these small size mini burritos fried. Oh so good. Absolutely love guacamole. Stumbled upon Rodrigo's when we were in the area and couldn't get in to a new restaurant in the same parking lot. Pleasantly surprised with the TAMALE on the two item combo I ordered. It was delicious. The tamale was full of flavor and probably the best I've ever had. The sauce was delicious also. However, the chili relleno was a complete disappointment!! It was actually a green chili wrapped in a corn tortilla. NEVER HAD ONE LIKE THIS BEFORE. Isn't it usually dipped and fried in a egg batter? Disgusting. The rice and beans were also good, but can never eat them all. I've lived in the area once and this place has changed hands more than a few times. The waiter was very friendly and pleasant. I ordered the Wings and they were horrid and they had no flavor to them, and they were so hard, I almost broke my teeth eating them, and my teeth hurt for the next couple days because of the wings. Went on on a lunch date with my dad and had such a delicious Chile Relleno. Jose our server was so kind and patient with us. He was very helpful and really appreciate it him. He was consistent on checking up on us and also the lady the brought our chips and salsa was really nice. Always made sure we had salsa. Really liked how clean they had the restaurant. It's always nice to see clean tables and bussers cleaning right away a guest leaves. Great for family and have a land area to reserve for a big party. Definitely recommend this place. We had a family gathering (18 of us) for our mom's 90th BDay. We reserved the back room in the main hall. Pedro, event planner was great to deal with from booking to end of event. Our server, Leo was so nice. I was allowed an hour to decorate. Food was served quickly & was great. I brought cake in and we had plenty of time to eat and cut cake. The value of room rental, food and all in was excellent. I would recommend for a family gathering. This is my mom's favorite Mexican restaurant and she was surprised and very happy. read more

I don't think I have been here since before COVID, but I don't consider my pre-COVID self to be an informed food enjoyer so I'll pretend this is my first experience here. I went here on my birthday, which also happened to be my friend's grad party. Yup, instead of being cool and hanging out with my friends and having an actual birthday party, nope! I chose to go to my friend's grad party instead and he didn't even know it was my birthday. It was interesting catching up with him and his friends. I got the wet burrito with chunky chicken and when it came out, they had like a toothpick with the Mexican flag and it was really cute and I should have saved it but I was so hungry. I chowed down so quickly that I just threw the flag off to the side because it was in the way from me eating such an amazing burrito. I wasn't in the right headspace because I was just so excited to eat my burrito and it was an awesome burrito. It was like a wet burrito and there was really good stuff inside that I can't even remember. The chicken was pretty good. I like that it was wet, and I just cut it into small pieces and ate it like a piece of steak but I literally inhaled that sucker. It was like gone within 10 minutes. The restaurant is so nice too, giving out chips and salsa before the food came out and that was all we were munching down. OMG I forgot about the guac. My friend's friend offered me his guac and it was just amazing. The guac here is so good. You should make sure to order the guac because wow it was really good guac. I've never had guac that good but maybe that just means I haven't been trying enough guac so take that as you will. I ordered water but then I realized I don't really want water. I wanted pink lemonade because I saw my friend order it, but I didn't want to be a copycat and order the same thing, so I ordered water like a loser. I hated it so I took my dad's ice tea and I didn't like that either so I end up sucking it up and replacing the tea with water again instead of the strawberry lemonade which I truly wanted. Overall, this place was a really good place to eat and I would go there again! Unfortunately if you're a so cal native, the place is very disappointing. Surprisingly the re-fried beans were good. Quality The Chicken wasn't that great. Had to spit out pieces that when you bite into them, everyone here's the fat gristle crackling in your mouth. Had to spit it out. Pricing: $25 for these fajitas? What a ripoff, There was very little chicken and tons of onions with some bell pepper. It was a scavenger hunt trying to find the chicken. I thought bottom basement fajitas were El Torrito, but these guys are worse. They only give you 1 small pot of salsa for 3 entrees.
