We went to Temecula to meet my dad for.an early Father's Day lunch. Johnny was our server and truly professional, kind and knowledgeable. We had drinks, chips, salsa and guacamole to start and had a great time chatting and telling stories. Then we ordered and I had the Carne Asada which came with rice, beans and tortillas as well as a cup of chicken tortilla soup. The meal was quite good. My dad and his wife ordered an a he had the chicken enchilada platter as did my wife and his wife had the steak picante dish. All the food was serves hot and tasty. We have always had the best service here at Rodrigo's in Temecula. It was my grandmas favorite restaurant and we spent many birthdays in the banquet room celebrating her. HORRIBLE customer service from the beginning. Came in and no hostess to greet us. And when we did get a hostess, no smile, she slid out menus on the table and said nothing... just walked away. We waited for 10 minutes for drinks, after WE had to ask for them. Garret our server was so rude. Worst customer service, every time we would say "thank you", he would respond with "Yup!" We went to the Temecula Rodrigos for dinner the first week of August. We typically enjoy Rodrigos food but not this time. Our food was under cooked, the cheese in the cheese Enchiladas was hard and cold. I left a review and was contacted by someone by the name of Tiffany. She emailed me and left me a phone number to contact her at directly. I called the number and it put you on a menu that led to no one. I sent her an email and never received any response or acknowledgement. It's been over a month so I guess they forgot about us, just like the cook who forgot to cook our food. I live in OC, and Rodrigos is on our regular dining rotation. My mom moved to Temecula and had never been to Rodrigos. We decided to have my grandpas birthday dinner there. I called a few days ahead to make a reservation. We had a wonderful long high top table at the bar. It was perfect for a dinner party. Everyone loved their food. My husband and I split the chile Colorado burrito and each get a side salad. The chile colorado is so tender and delicious. Other entrees ordered were a tostada, street tacos, carne con chile Verde, carne con chile Colorado entree, enchilada combo, chile relleno, and another wet burrito. Okay, so I wouldn't recommend Rodrigo's if you are looking for good Mexican food. The food is not great, yellow cheese, greasy and taste premade. Even the salsa for the chips and salsa taste jarred, but they do have good margaritas. We occasionally stop here for a drink after we've had dinner elsewhere. My favorite is the coconut margarita. The bartenders are usually friendly, and the place has been pretty quiet (dead) the times we've gone. read more

We stopped by Rodrigo's before checking out the Bainbridge Circle Holiday Extravaganza. It turned out to be a good meal and everyone left happy. This is similar to places like Acapulco and Cucina Del Charro. The inside has interesting decor and ceiling features. Carpeted floors are prevalent in this restaurant. Maybe a little dark inside. Service was really good with plenty of refills of chips and salsa and soda. It was definitely their service that stood out and earned them an extra star. Food was on the mild / bland side. Quality was average which is probably why the overall Yelp Score is only three stars. But there was one dish that ended up being the highlight of the meal. The Stuffed Pasilla Chile Relleno (Pasilla Pepper, Braised Beef, Beef Chorizo, Potatoes, queso fresco and cilantro cream sauce) was very tasty and spicy hot.. I love the fact this relleno wasn't fried in batter like most rellenos. The clientele were mostly attractive which may not have any bearing on your decision to come here or not but it was an interesting observation. My boyfriend and I stopped in around 5pm on Sunday, 12/26! We were immediately seated and served chips and salsa shortly after. We both ordered the 2 item plate for $15.50 each and both got the chicken enchiladas which was a $1 extra for chicken. You can choose what type of beans you get, we opted for the refried beans. They came out rather quick and the portions were big. Only thing is our waitress didn't pay much attention to our drinks so we had to nurse our drinks but finally got a refill towards the end of our meal after flagging down a bus boy. We have been going to Rodrigo's for 5 years Food not great but we went for Sunday Brunch and sat at Bar with our favorite server Justin He was the best One day about 6 months ago went in and Justin was gone he had worked there 15 years Dont know if he was fired or quit no one would say. The person that served us only gave us 2 glasses of champagne I said really Justin served as many glasses as we want. She said Im not Justin Justin had people that were there every Sunday and now they have lost business from all of us none of regulars go anymore 2 glasses of champagne that is nothing. So, being a native Southern Californian, I love Mexican food. I've lived in the Temecula valley nearly 15 years and have to find a really good Mexican restaurant - tons of small taco shops that are amazing but no really solid sit down place. I always loved Don Jose's when I lived up in Riverside and once I found out Rodrigos is owned by the same family, I was ecstatic. Took the family for lunch today and was not disappointed! Chicken fajitas were exactly what I remember from Don Jose's. Deep flavor in the meat which is also very juicy. Fajita makins' are cooked perfectly and the beans, fillings are fantastic. Wife ordered the taquito plate and was thoroughly pleased with her meal as well. Kids got chicken strips - freakin' kids - chicken strips at a Mexican joint??!! They did eat them all with the fries so I guess they were good which is all I can really ask. Server was on top of it. Like, really on top of it. Drink refills were at the table before our drinks were empty. We were able to order quickly and the food came out very fast and was hot and fresh. Chips and sals are a staple of any Mexican restaurant and Rodrigo's doesn't disappoint. Chips were fresh and salty. Salsa was just chunky enough to stay on the chip and very flavorful without too much heat. I prefer more heat but it was perfect for the family. As an established customer of Rodrigo's restaurant in Temecula I must update my review of this restaurant. Rodrigo's had the best brunch on Sunday in the town of Temecula. Last month they, canceled 2 of their finest dishes and limited the brunch menu, there machaca eggs and their eggs Benedict and the California omelet. I'm sure some of these were due to the high price of eggs today. But instead of raising the price and not explaining why they raised the prices, arbitrarily cancel dishes that customers have been enjoying for 9 years. Personally we would pay the higher eat what we liked. We have the option to go to another fine very fine Mexican restaurant, such Guadalajara restaurant also in Temecula. I must say after 9 years I've decided to switch over to the Guadalajara restaurant for brunch and my business. Also when I texted them, I never got a response. read more

Carnitas were dry and gamy. Tritip was ordered medium and cooked to well. Very tough. Quesadilla was fine. Ordered with fries, fries were unsalted and soggy. Tasted oily. It was the worse meal we've had in a long time. My husband barely made it out the door before he was gagging. If you want mexican food. Do not go here. Everything tasted canned. I went to Rodrigo's Temecula and picked up a Quart of Salsa and Chips, and a 2-Taco Combo. When I got home I had some Salsa & Chips. One hour later I was as sick as a dog. It's called Food Poisoning due to improper preparation of food. The Salsa must have had E-Coli contamination in it because of how sick I got. I had to throw $30 of food away because I didn't trust it. I have been a loyal customer of Don Jose/Rodrigo's for over 30 years and always trusted the food there. Now I cannot say that. I probably won't go back and have to find a New Mexican Restaurant to go to. They Seriously need to have the Prep Area tested before someone gets real sick and has to go to the Hospital or dies. read more

Rodrigo's used to be called Don Jose. My family has been going to Don Jose for over 30 years now. This was always our favorite restaurant to celebrate our birthdays at. They are open during Covid since they have a very nice covered outside area. It is great because that have many TV's where they play all the Football games. Their chips and salsa are decent, and their margaritas are pretty tasty. My favorite item is the shredded beef Mexican pizza. I find their prices very affordable for a family dinner. Came here for Cino De Mayo - such a joke. Been here two other times and can understand why they have so little business. Leadership starts at the top, that would be the manager. The bar was modestly busy cuz it's Cinco and the girl at the front sat us at a table - one could say in the restaurant section (no one in there btw) well mgr. would not let us do happy hour there (again,no one there) and said to go to the patio. Patio cold and we would be the only people out there!! Told the waiter we were leaving came back in and two seats available at the bar so we took them. NO Cinco food specials? Really??? Don Jose's, El Torito when I lived near them would have food specials (not crappy appetizers), happy hour throughout the entire restaurant and would be packed with customers. As a reminder, restaurants are in the "Hospitality Industry" and you need people to come spend their income in your establishment.
