Once again I find my self proclaimed donut expert self trying more donuts to review. My donut reviews are coming from a place of donut eating bliss with a true judgment so all that is donut! Now let's jump into it. Selection is big here! They have alot to choose from. A lot of cake Donuts and old fashioned style. I went for a crescent donuts and a long jon. They crescent was pretty decent and I have on complaints, well actually it was kind of flat. It was not puffy and fluffy it also lacked that butter flavor that just melts on your mouth. The long jon was big and filled with Boston cream. No complaints on this guy but the flavors did not stand out. Overall they run a great shop with good quality products. Walk by any dunkin donuts or Krispy Kreme and come experience what a real donut is all about. Set your donut bar a little higher and start expecting more. I almost forgot, the portion's are well over the limit for normal human consumption. Notice I said normal? I'm far from normal and killed two of this generously size donuts. Came by around 9 PM on a Wednesday. Still a few people stopping in. We grabbed two coffees (super hot), a maple bar, a chocolate old-fashioned, and a chocolate buttermilk donut. Open 24/7! They have some of the best donuts around! You can never go wrong with an old fashioned, but if you want to try something new, go for the French crullers! I arrived just before 5 a.m. today to grab some donuts and noticed that there were donuts on the rack behind the counters. While one lady was helping us, another was sweeping the floor. It seemed like they hadn't cleaned overnight and were doing it in the early morning instead. She started sweeping in front and then moved behind the counters while the donuts were already out. It was unsettling to see because the dust could easily land on the donuts, making it very unsanitary. read more

I'm not sure when did I go from not eating sweets to loving donuts. It's not the healthiest change, but it's definitely a happy change. This place is opened 24/7. Best time to go is definitely near midnight, when no parents are buying donuts for their kids. I've tried going in the morning on the weekends, as this place is along my running path. I run, I gotta treat myself to a donut. Although the store is small, the line is still to the door, so got like 4-5 people in front of me. Wanting a donut like RIGHT NOW and not wanting to wait for it is a mood. Haven't tried too many of their donuts, just the usual raised (glazed and sugar) and the sugar braids. They were pretty fresh, hard to say no after finishing one. Often times the glazed donut is taken from the trays rather than the display, their donuts just rotate that quickly, no point of really putting them into the display. Their parking lot isn't the best, probably fit like 10 cars, street parking isn't always available with the small single lane 2-way streets. And somehow it's like 90% of San Bruno residents drive a giant truck, so good luck with street parking. read more

This donut shop brings back wonderful memories of when my father would bring home donuts from Rolling Pin after he was finished working and making his way home-- That was back in the 1970's! I understand people may have their allegiance to their chosen donut shops for many reasons, I quess mine would be the nostalgia,I've been coming here for years, + the fact that they are actually really great! I really love the feel of a good ol' old- school doughnut shop, They offer a wide variety of donuts from the classic old fashion, the Fluffy melt in your mouth glazed,The French to the delicious jelly filled raspberry donut. Apple fritters are also a tasty option. One of my personal favorite is the devil's food donut. But honestly it's really hard to pick one you will be disappointed with. Baked fresh and if you come at the right time you may be able to even get them just made.(like from the fryer to your mouth) Parking is available and it's open 24hrs for those late night cravings. And the price is really great for the quality you get. Also the staff is really friendly and helpful in making a decision for you when you cannot decide. They also do accept plastic now, Which was one of my biggest issues with Rolling Pin. We can't have everything old fashioned. Give em a try when you are in San Bruno. read more

I've been here a few times when I was craving donuts at night. A big plus for it being open 24/7, since many donut shops close by the afternoon. The store has a pretty wide selection of items from donuts to cookies. I feel like the consistency of their donuts are pretty different across different kinds. I've found their glaze donuts to be the best in terms of airy/fluffiness while their coconut donuts had a slightly denser taste to it. I'm not sure why they would be different when they're both normal round donut shapes. The chocolate glaze is good but super sweet after a few bites because the entire donut is glazed with the chocolate on top. They sadly don't have these cinnamon crumb kind donuts that I love getting! I also feel like in general their donuts also don't have the freshest taste which is a bummer, but they are still decent and fills the craving. Another plus however is that they take cards ($5+ minimum)! I'll definitely come back when I'm craving donuts at night, but I've had better. I vaguely remember being a little inebriated and getting a french cruller. It was soft, fluffy, and satisfied my sweet tooth. This time, I came for the custard filled donut holes. And just cuz we were there, I decided to throw a couple more donuts into the mix. Everything ended up being $6.30. I love custard cream puffs, so this was reminiscent of those. Nice and light. Though the custard did have a little bit of an artificial flavor to it. The powdered donut was good. Reminded me of those rolls of powdered mini donuts I used to get when I was younger. The twist and sprinkles ones were okay. More or less, just your average doughnuts. I love that this place is 24 hours. Too bad it's not closer to home. Mmm ok. Changing my mind about this place. This is usually my go to place for birthday gifts because who doesn't love to receive a box of donuts? Today I ordered another dozen donuts and paid $32 for it on door dash for it to get delivered to somebody for their birthday. In my previous review the staff had no problem writing a simple "happy birthday" on the box. Which made me super happy. When I asked for it again this time, the door dasher told me the worker said "no they're too busy" and to contact them before he takes my order. I called them and the worker said "she has nothing to put in the box for a happy birthday" but that's not what I asked for? I asked to simply just write with a marker happy birthday on the box. After she told me she can't do that for me, I just hung up. The door dasher then sends me a picture of a super sloppy written "happy birthday" note taped on top of the box. I wouldn't have minded this if they didn't scribble it like a 1st grader. I was so embarrassed by that I asked the door dasher to remove it and now the box has nothing written on it. Best donuts near SF. I will drive there from SF to get donuts, passing dozens of trendy bakeries and coffee shops, because these are so good. Most donut shops seem to make a bunch early in the morning and go until they sell out. Rolling Pin is open 24/7, and they make my favorite-the old fashioned- 3 times a day, and in 4 flavors. So they're always fresh! It also says something about the volume of business they do that they can crank out fresh donuts all day long. Visited this donut shop on a trip to San Francisco and was pleasantly surprised! The exterior is a bit dilapidated and odd it absolutely does not reflect the enterior. I won't say that they have a big variety of donuts but they have your basic and a few extras. However that being said what they do have is really good. Their coffee station really impressed me especially for how underrated this little hidden gem is. As for customer service, it's pleasant. I mean it was one lady and it was pretty crowded at 9am. The customers seem to be more of the senior age but I bet if people knew how good this little place is it would definitely call the attention of a greater diversity of customers. read more

This place rocks! Their donuts rock, their hours rock, and so does their staff! The building is unique on the block its on. There's not too many buildings that stick out on this block actually. I think it may be the only one that big, so you can't miss it! As soon as you step foot inside, your sense of smell is put through the wringer with the scents of freshly baked donutes. So good. The inside looks clean too. I don't think I've ever seen it looking gross or dirty. So that puts my mind at ease as to what's going on where I can't see. There aren't any seats inside, so it's pretty much to go on everythign. Some people just hang around and talk inside while they eat their donut. Parking is pretty much abundant. Ther's both street, and a lot, you can park in. I've never not been able to not find parking... that sounded weird... but yeah. Especially late night. I just pull up right in front and there's usually a spot right there in front of the door. Their donuts are goooood. My favorite I would say is the French Donut. Glazed on the outside with a different than normal donut pattern, but soft and moist on the inside.... oh god I want one now! Their custard filled, and chocolate filled, donut holes kick ass too. I ususally pair up donuts holes with my french donut. I need both! They also sell milk, chocolate milk, and juices. I'm so tempted to get them, but I tell myself that I can make it home and have my own glass of milk. Then I race off into the night, LOL.
