We wanted to sit at a table, rather than the counter. I learned this place stays open late on the weekends and this is where many restaurant staff come to eat! This place is tiny, yet cozy. The tables are placed a bit close, but you still have privacy. She shared the gyoza which was crispy on the outside and flavorful inside. One friend ordered the yakisoba and I tasted it which was very good, I will order it next time. My other friend ordered the mabo tofu which I also had a chance to taste and I could easily understand why my friend says this dish is her comfort food. I ordered the Tan Tan Ramen and it was so good! I took half home to share with my husband. There are so many other dishes I want to try next time! Free parking on the lot. We had to wait 15 minutes for a table, which was totally ok. because the food was so good! Prices are reasonable too. OH! They have Happy Hour!!!

Today we decided to revisit the restaurant for old time's sake. Inside, the main wall was repainted with a new mural. The annual LA Marathon posters, pinned by the staff who participated in the events, were also gone. Nonetheless, it retained its traditional izakaya décor with its counter seating alongside some regular tables. The staff were all new but still very courteous and brought the menu and water right away. New items were added but the core dishes remained the same. For this visit, we ordered our regular items and they arrived in 10 minutes: Eboshi Mini Trio with Shio Ramen, Fried Rice and Gyoza: The fried rice was still top notch, with slightly firm texture, not too oily, and pleasantly seasoned. The Shio Ramen with its clear broth was nicely savory. The thin noodles were cooked perfectly, and the chashu pieces were tender. To complement the set, the gyozas with their delicate wraps had nicely burnt bottoms, and flavorful fillings. Champon Ramen: A complex ramen with an assortment of meat, veggies and seafood. There were sliced pork pieces, shrimps, squids, cabbage, onions, snow peas and many more. The clear broth was quite savory and enriched by oil from sauteed ingredients. The noodles had a very nice texture and were a tad al dente. We were amazed that after all these years, the restaurant retained its original taste and flavor. We found out the reason why while exiting the restaurant: The young cook from two decades ago is now running the open kitchen as head chef. Great food and still reasonable prices. It was totally worth revisiting.

In no particular order, my favorite dishes are: - Braised Pork Belly w/Tofu Skin (soft, tender, leftovers heat phenomenally too) - Ginger Scallion Beef Noodles (def wish there was more beef and that the strips were thicker, but the taste hits the spot) - Beef Noodle Soup (a classic in my book & wonderful to order when you're congested) I haven't dined in the restaurant in a long time, but it's quaint, spacious, and has plenty of seating. As for the service, from what I can remember - they're quick. Any time I'm placed a takeout order, it's either piping hot and read or no more than ~5 mins away from being finished + packaged. I'd love to try their chow mein, fried rice, and other popular entrées in the future. Maybe next time!

I got the Shanghai Rice Cakes stir fried, and my mom did get her beef noodle soup. Portions are pretty generous!! We had enough for 3 people to share. Prices are pretty fair as well. Their soba texture and style tastes way different than your average buckwheat noodles. It isn't as thick and reminds me of spaghetti noodles. It tastes very fresh and I'm pretty sure they make the noodles in house. Upon ordering there were so many combination and menu options to choose from. I got the soba combination with tempura and it was perfectly battered and very light. I loved the tempura here and am craving to go back. A little hack for digestion is to ask them for some soba water to drink after. They give it in a little Japanese teapot. Inside the restaurant it's really small and if you come in the afternoon on a weekend, there might be a line. The second one opened up, the lady (who was already busy taking people's orders) immediately came and started cleaning up the dirty dishes and wiped the table for us. I felt cared for! Many of the dishes come hot or cold. My friend and I both got the yuzu chashu, but one hot and one cold. It's essentially the same, but the hot version gets slightly more broth. The yuzu flavor came through subtly, and the chashu was perfectly chewy and fell apart upon biting. The noodles were cooked perfectly, but eat fast! They tended to cook more in the hot broth as time went on. Parking, seating, and pricing may be the only downsides. I also wish we got more than three pieces of edamame. But other than that, I can see this place being a fan favorite for many!

It came with a cilantro sauce as well as some pickled red onion. I also tried the turon pancakes which had slices of jackfruit on top to give it an extra Asian flair. They had a kids menu as well and lots of side options. There were lots of Korean-inspired dishes as well like Kim chi fried rice. There was an entire menu just for different breakfast burritos. The turon pancakes really tasted like the real caramelized turon. It had a nice sticky syrup on top that wasn't too sweet. The pancakes came super hot and were fluffy. The portion size was great. The cilantro sauce on the burrito was delicious. The pickled veggies added nice acidity that I appreciated. The bad: I don't know if there was any parking other than street parking. We parked right out front which was 1 hour parking and to the side is 20 minute parking. The interesting: You order and pay at the counter and the food gets brought out to you. I saw they had fresh cookies baked as well. Inside, there were festive balloons. I am not sure if it's always there or if they were from a special event. Very rich broth, and plentiful toppings. The chashu was VERY thick. Standard ramen noodles in this one. I opted for the shisen black. Noodles are little different in this one, but still fantastic. It's similar to a higher quality version of Korean ramyun as far as its thickness, and was quite chewy like an egg noodle. Again, thicccc piece of chashu to accompany the bowl. I'm definitely coming back.

The original shisen ramen was pretty good, I did like how it had vegetables in it. I did wish it had meat though (only had tiny pieces of pork). The broth was very light and the noodles were good. If don't prefer a creamy broth you will probably like this. The black shisen ramen was ok, I wish the garlic taste was stronger. The red shisen ramen (level 1) was pretty good but it was spicy (I do not tolerate spice that well) do beware of that! The chasu was also pretty good, it was a little sweet. The miso tonkotsu tsukemen was ok. The noodles were a bit undercooked (in my opinion), and the broth was very rich. The rich miso ramen was (as it is called) very rich. Definitely would need to drink a lot of water if I ate the whole thing. But the broth has a good flavor. It has the same noodles as the tsukemen (so again a little undercooked imo). Our server was super nice, and it is a clean small establishment. Overall not bad, would be down to try again if I am in the area
