I really wanted to like this place. I've passed it a zillion times. Recently I heard how great their breakfast was so I couldn't wait. Our server was really great which is why I've given 2 stars. The food however was so incredibly bland. It lacked any kind of basic seasoning. The Barnyard = Dry plain potatoes with a flavorless sausage gravy and eggs with zero seasoning. The prices are good and the staff is friendly but I never salt my food and I salted, peppered, and salted again. Still bland. Even ketchup did not help. Same with my husband's food. Veggies weren't even cooked in his scramble. Definitely will not go back when there are so many other great breakfast spots. Also, I found it odd that everything was an advertisement; from the overused menus to the drinking cups. Maybe this appeals to an older crowd that lacks taste buds? read more

The service is expeditious and the food is good. You should bring cash with you because the use of a card is 3 percent higher. The owners are actively involved with the running of this business. A few months ago we tried this place on a Sunday morning. We've been coming here every Sunday since. Even when it's crowded we've been seated pretty rapidly. Only once did my husband complain that his hash browns tasted rancid. I tasted them and didn't think so. I've been reading other's reviews and some complain about the food being under seasoned. I don't find that true. As other reviews mentioned there's a majority of older customers, they might under season due to that factor. However, there is salt and pepper at the table, so I say add more if you like. The wait staff is friendly, our food arrives quickly, the owners are friendly. I asked one of the wait staff if they were happy working there and if they were treated good (having been to a few small restaurants where this wasn't the case, where the owners would yell at them and berate them in front of the customers). I would not give this place five stars. We stopped in here to meet a friend while we were in from out of town. Not a lot of restaurant choices between Saint Petersburg and Wildwood. Everyone was very friendly, you feel like you stepped back in time in this little restaurant. They sat us at a booth which was a very small booth. None of us are small people and so we would have been better served at a table but that was my fault for not saying anything. The service was good. The pancakes were good, the waffle was a typical Belgium waffle, the hashbrowns were good. The scrambled eggs were OK but the bacon had been pre-cooked and was not hot. The prices are decent. If you enjoy the prototypical breakfast diner, you'll enjoy this place. Nothing fancy - just the expected breakfast and lunch menu. Everything is made to order and not cooked ahead of time, so your food arrives fresh and hot. We've only eaten here for breakfast so I can't vouch for the lunch menu but it certainly looks appealing. What an adorable place! When it's called Rooster's, they aren't kidding! They have cute little roosters EVERYWHERE inside! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful! They never let my coffee cup even get to halfway. The food was very good! I loved the home fries! My eggs were done just right, though the meat was very salty. It wasn't my favorite breakfast place ever, but I would eat here again! It seems very homebody-like. We received a friendly greeting as we walked in. With a group of 13 showing up without calling ahead, we expected we might have to wait a while to be seated. The bacon is thick and delicious! Eggs are cooked to order and they know how to make them over medium (whites cooked with runny yolk). Servers are prompt and pleasant. This is definitely the locals favorite. They serve lunch and dinner as well. I have not tried anything from that menu but everything looks great! Went here for dinner with my youngest one evening, and we returned the next morning for breakfast, as my wife was out of town and my laziness is legendary. The service was outstanding and the food was delicious. Weirdest hours of any restaurant on Earth though. Only open one night a week (Friday) for dinner. The other days they close at 2pm. The female owner was impatient to the point of being rude demanding that a drink selection be made within seconds of us sitting down. I ate at Rooster's Cafe last week for the first time and I really enjoyed it. I ordered a breakfast special that included 2 eggs, bacon, a choice of potatoes, and toast while my mom ordered a patty melt since it was brunch time. She added a last minute addition of the fried green tomatoes because I was CONVINCED I would not like them since I do not like tomatoes (aside from in like, ketchup). Much to my surprise they were DELICIOUS! They were seasoned and breaded and came with a side of ranch. They had a nice little crisp on the outside and the tomato inside was a little tart and not at all mushy like I thought it would be. I'm a huge fan of fried pickles, blooming onion, etc. and if you like fried stuff you must try this!!! Anyway, my breakfast was good, the bacon was crispy, eggs were cooked perfectly over easy... The only negative I found was that the potatoes were under-seasoned and lacking flavor, especially if you don't dip them in ketchup, and the bacon was too salty. My mom enjoyed her patty melt, but it came with chips, fries were extra. The waitress was nice, and kept our drinks full and didn't rush us. Tried this place about 3 months ago. Ordered two items they were out of. Finally settled for a below average hamburger that was way over cooked. Tried again today and had to settle for an appetizer sampler. Fried green tomatoes were bitter, mushrooms were still frozen, ketchup for onion rings was a cheap salty brand, and the mozzarella sticks were ok so my grandchildren ate those. Granddaughter did not eat her pancakes saying they were nasty. Other granddaughter wouldn't eat her fries because they were not cooked. Staff are very nice and friendly. Definitely a local , friendly restaurant where all the servers treat you like family. The food is pretty good, except I was not fond of the biscuits, they were a little doughy. Prices are good for the amount of food and the menu is pretty large. It is however quite a bit extra for anything that is not included in the menu price.
