At 8 AM on Sunday morning, this place was crowded and I can see why. It's cute. It's clean. Staff is friendly. Food is good. Prices are reasonable. And there's coffee. Rooster's is now my breakfast spot! The cheese omelette was gooey with cheese and that's what I like. The home fries looked kinda black, but turned out to be yummy. I ate them all. And raisin toast with real butter. I took half my omelette home. It's the neighborhood feeling and decor that I like most here. Brooksville is my new home and these are my new neighbors. Btw, not a single person in here was under 75 years old (except me). Maybe the younger crowd sleeps in until 10 AM?

My parents retired to Bell, Fl which is about 30 minutes away from this joint…read more I go every time I come down to visit them. Usually at least twice. Once for breakfast and once for lunch or dinner. I've never had the seafood night, but it's been recommended multiple times in conversation and here in other reviews. It's a solid southern mom and pop buffet. No regrets Always delicious. Wait staff is always friendly.

Upon entering, dirty tables everywhere and it was so hard to find a clean table to sit at. Dirty floors, dirty windows, buffet with people hovering over it while standing in line to pay their bill. It's ok to have an older restaurant but they must keep it clean! My husband never uses a straw, but he did today - scared the cup may be dirty...we know some folks that come here so we stayed because we just needed to see if it got better and why they come...it's a hard no! Long wait, extremely salty food, sad presentation of the food appearance. I had images of the kitchen in my head after seeing the front of the house. We've never been to Cross City - assuming it's a fishing town - which is cool but other than that, not much here. The pros - waitress was nice and seemed to like her job. I liked all the patriotic decorations. Well we were really hoping to like this establishment, but not for us, oh well, we came, we tasted, we saw, and now we move on.

My family was in the restaurant for mother's day. I understand that we were a large group of 10 and…read morehow this can present challenges to a server. Hannah was our server, and she is the reason I write this email today. From the start, Hannah seemed very rude. She said that we couldn't add anymore chairs because we couldn't block the adjacent booth, but we were allowed to use the booth for our "overflow". I don't see the difference, but whatever. My son and I were at the overflow and she nearly completely forgot to get his order, as his was the last to be taken per her request. I had to nearly yell at her to make sure he was able to order. We had to keep going to the bar and getting our own refills, and we had to get our own to-go boxes as she seemed to just disappear after giving us the bill. Many orders were wrong or super late. My aunt got chicken strips and fries but they didn't come out and the same time and she eventually had to go to the bar and get her own fries. When I ordered for my son, I was pointing at the menu, the kids part, and said I wanted the KIDS chicken and FF for my son, but then I suppose I messed her up when trying to ask if we could get the KIDS mac and cheese instead of FF. She then went on to describe what I believe was the alfredo pasta. I didn't say anything to her mix-up, just went ahead with the kids' chicken and ff. I state it like that because she did not bring a kid's plate but rather an adult plate. I got the special (delicious btw) salmon, potato, green beans and salad. I ordered a baked potato with sour cream; I got mashed with gravy. I again, didn't say anything as she already seemed overwhelmed, plus I was not about to wait for just a potato and hold up our entire group. I had to ask a second waitress for my included desert, which I did receive. My sister had ordered a chicken sandwich (cold) and I'm not sure what she was brought but it wasn't the right dish. My niece waited the longest for her food, not getting until the rest of our group was nearly done. Our family absolutely loves Papa's. We come there all the time, even with our big group and we have never had these types of problems before. Your other staff are super friendly and helpful. I just thought that you should be aware of how our mother's day dinner went.

Stopped here while traveling to Central Florida for a wedding. Loved the bacon, egg and cheese…read morecroissant and the extra crispy hash browns! Our server was very nice and she answered all of our questions, of which we had many! We were able to sit outside on a nice spring morning before it got too hot. It wasn't the greatest since it's near the main road but they do have a lot of greenery up so you can't see it but you do hear it. I would love to have another one of those sandwiches again!

Last minute breakfast decision and wow I am so pleased that we decided on the Metro Diner!…read more As soon as we pulled up I had a good feeling about this place and I'll be honest coming from New York I miss my diners! Needless to say this the Metro diner truly surpassed my expectations. We walked in and were greeted immediately and asked if we would like to sit outside which is a covered area or indoors. We chose inside given it being a hot humid day and wanting that extra comfort. The vibe felt amazing with all the smiles and yes even though busy all the wait staff was hopping doing their business! We were seated and told about the specials and given the menu. I was unsure what I wanted because I think I could have eaten a little bit of everything! I did ask the waitress a couple of suggestions and one of them was the pancakes I had chosen. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner all day! How cool is that and rare. They had a chicken and waffle special that was actually half a chicken ( pieces ) fried with Belgium waffles, powdered sugar and sweet strawberry butter served with their signature sweet and spicy sauce. I'll be honest when I had seen someone else get their plate I was surprised. It looked absolutely incredible and well tremendous. On their specials they had banana pudding pancakes or waffles, this also sounded amazing. It had walnuts, butter and powdered sugar and definitely banana. I am most certainly glad that I chose this as it was incredibly. Super fluffy, flavorful and the banana was not overwhelming there was a perfect balance of flavors. There was a sauce on them that I assume was the banana pudding. It was light and just enough to not overpower the pancake itself. We had also ordered croissant French toast and my son absolutely loved them. They were crispy on the outside yet fluffy and flavorful with a fantastic texture topped with some powdered sugar. Some ordered hash browns, these were also delicious and homemade with a great texture and the portion like all the other dishes pretty large. We had all tried the biscuits and gravy. These too were delicious with such a nice balance of flavors. The biscuits indeed homemade. We were all very pleased with everything. Some eggs over easy and bacon cooked perfectly. The coffee honestly the best I've had in years. I'm a coffee drinker and I cannot figure this coffee was outstanding! I had four cups and wish for more ha ha. Best of all I must compliment the service. I have not been to a restaurant of any sort with such attentive service, quality service as we received here in years. The waitress kept refilling my coffee and water, brought my son more soda ( even a container to take his home ) asked everyone if they needed anything at appropriate times and was extremely kind and considerate. I will be back and I highly recommend the Metro Diner for a great meal, quality service and relaxed environment that you will enjoy.
