I'm not one to drink sweetened coffee but Rooted makes one damn good Churro latte. Not sure if it's seasonal as it was posted on a sign near the register and the sweet young gal working recommended it. I ordered it iced with almond milk, one pump vanilla instead of two, and immediately after tasting it, I wished I had ordered the larger size. Lightly sweetened, nice and cinnamon-y, bold and smooth. Rooted Coffee is my favorite in Walnut Creek. Their menu is completely vegan, although I usually only come for their vanilla oat milk latte. They also always have fun festive drinks to try. The staff are extremely friendly and the service is relatively fast. I also love the atmosphere of this coffee shop. There are usually a bunch of people chatting, eating, laughing, and studying. I did try a "fancy" drink one time (aka a dirty chai), and it tastes TOO REAL. Like it was spicy and tasted like burnt ginger. So if you like "fake chai" please dont get it. I go to Rooted A LOT. After moving to this part of the Bay Area in summer 2020, I've been a frequent customer at their location in Pleasant Hill. I miss the days of working from coffee shops, and now that Rooted has opened in a spacious location in downtown WC, that void in my life has been filled! The drinks and avocado dream are still amazing. I tried the churro waffle stick once, and it's a unique treat--substantial yet fluffy--to get a break from the donuts. Even though I initially looked forward to this space as a laptop zone, I've found that I prefer to come here to catch up with friends and enjoy myself. There are two spacious single-occupant bathrooms (wait til you see the fun wallpaper!) at the back that have those locks to let you know if the facilities are occupied. This location is also open on Fridays and Saturdays until 9pm with a cocktail and small plate menu. I've enjoyed the cocktails, but the small plates aren't really small plates to me: they're more like side orders (the options are pretzels, tater tots, and chips). With how good their avocado dream recipe is, I'd love to see more unique small plates or even dinner options! read more

Came here on their third day of opening. No lines/wait. Staff was friendly and helpful as I asked what their Golden milk latte was. Essentially a bunch of spices are added, like turmeric, cayenne, maple, and black pepper maybe? It was an interesting flavor and kind of spicy, but it sort of works if you're into that. I liked it but I probably wouldn't get it again. Also got a nitro and a maple donut and both were good as expected . The sunny avocado dream was delicious. Not sure what was in it, but it was basically avo spread and maybe smashed lentils on top of sourdough. Everything here has truly unique flavors. A nice change of pace. read more

A really nice plant based coffee spot in downtown Walnut Creek. This place had live music going on when we went there around 6pm on a Friday. All the versions of the Avacado toast are a must-try! We got the taki toast and it didn't fail to impress. We also tried the maple donut and it was delicious! Coffees are good too. They do not have any pour-overs but my husband had the nitro cold brew and I had an iced vanilla latte with oat milk(note that they only have plant based milk options). Would definitely come back again to check more items on the menu. There's lot of seating indoor and outdoors. read more

I have been to the other Rooted Coffee location and didn't realize there was another location in downtown Walnut Creek. I always get the cold brew with oat milk wherever I go, and Rooted's is no exception. If you are looking for a place to study with lots of desk space, this place is great. I was able to get a lot of work done here. They even allow dogs inside so if you have a furry friend, you can study inside in peace with them. I haven't seen what it's like on the weekends yet, but I can say that it's pretty quiet in the afternoon. I was there until they closed at 5 PM and will be coming back. I may have found my favorite place to study in downtown WC. read more

Wow wow wow this place is amazing!! Found it as a halfway point for meeting a friend, and we were blown away! The shop itself is so cute and trendy, with lots of seating indoors and outdoors, though it was pretty crowded when we were there, lots of people sitting alone at tables getting work done. The menu is all plant-based, if that's important to you, but what was important to us was that it's all DELICIOUS! Really unique coffee drink flavors and options, they also have boozy drinks and full breakfast options like avocado toasts and waffles, and the staff is super friendly and helpful. I had the cardamom maple latte and the lemon blueberry chia bowl, both were EXCELLENT. We already decided that this is our new meetup spot, would recommend to everyone. read more

I love the coffee and have enjoyed all the foods I've tried here! Their avo toast is pricey, but WORTH IT. While I don't usually opt for dairy-free milk alternatives at other cafes, I really like the lattes and cappuccinos here made with Oat or Macadmia milks. It's cool that this place seems to promote a device-free environment (tables and bar counters posted with "laptop-free" signs) for encouraging social and personal connection, but not great for a place to get work done. Also, heavy lack of power outlets makes it tough to get a couple hours of work done while enjoying a nice cup of coffee (or two or theee). When I went there today, the wifi was also having issues. I was connected to the router, but no internet was available. Real bummer since I wanted to support the shop (bought a latte anyway) and get caught up on work before the week starts. It seemed fairly slow in the shop this afternoon, too. read more

Shout out to Joe, Rain, Sara and all the others that make this place what it is. I come here often and these guys always have excellent costumer service. It's my neighborhood coffee shop with staff who actually gives a damn about the people who frequent it. My go to is the Omega donut and Avocado dream or a waffle and chickpea salad. The Golden milk latte with oat milk is my favorite. They have brunch specials and the ambiance makes this place even better. It stays busy. Good luck finding a seat. read more
