Run as far as you could from this place. Classic click bait company with no ethics. I am raging posting this since we got scammed that left us with anxiety for more than a week, for something that should have been fixed within an hour. Charging 10-20% more for a job is one thing, but coming up with non existent issues and trying to scam for 10-20X of off what should have been is a different thing. They also use your personal situation and probably assess how vulnerable you are to fall for the scam. For example, we are new parents and were both burnt out when they first came in. We contacted them for a drain clearing issue seeing their 59$ add online. They charged me 99$ on phone saying that covers the drain cleaning plus 15% of any new issues. Being just 40$ more it made sense to take the membership. Omar Mendoza arrived, very patiently heard about what happened, went to garage and inspected everything, checked under the sink and said the piping needs to be replaced coz they might break if he opens them (turns out this wasn't true btw), he quoted 722$ and I agreed coz I need to get this done asap, and since he showed me some corrosion around the pipes I believe him. He spent 3 hours snaking the drain and said the sink is heavily clogged and needs hydrojetting for which he quotes 7400$. So by that night we spent 722$ + 99$ + the sink didn't clear + we have a new air gap issue that they caused (ie they removed the air gap and didn't replace it properly). Next day I kept calling them through out the day, I called 6-8 times in total each time waiting for 30+ minutes on hold, David Sanchez finally showed up and apologized for not clearing the drain and said he could get us a discount and have the hydrojetting done for $2900. We were pissed by that time and rejected it and asked for a refund. They did finally give a refund, but that involved constantly calling them again for a whole week. Just for comparison, another plumber cleared the sink for $400 (emergency plumbing) and inspected and said we didn't need hydrojetting. We also had to get the air gap issue fixed which didn't exist in the first place and that costed us 120$. /The plumbers that were involved, OMAR MENDOZA and DAVID SANCHEZ, and the facility manager ALEX MARTINEZ are all big time SCAMMERS. The reason I am saying this is, I read very old reviews on here, looks like they are very knowledgeable, but they didn't have the right morals to do their job as promised. Also, when they are at your place, they put in several hours and pretend like they tried their best and things didn't work, and finally come up with a more expensive plan. When I say "they pretend like they are trying to do their best", they really do put on a whole show and since we are not the experts, we believe that really did try. Our kitchen sink backed up and wouldn't drain, so I found a company on Google advertising $59 drain cleaning and scheduled an appointment around 10 a.m. They first said the technician would arrive between 12-2 p.m. At noon, they changed it to 4-6 p.m. Later that day, they canceled again and rescheduled for 9-11 a.m. the next morning. By 10:30 a.m. the next day, I still hadn't heard anything, so I called customer service. They said they had no idea when the technician would arrive, but their system still showed 9-11 a.m., so they told me to keep waiting. The technician finally showed up at 12:30 p.m. After working for about an hour, he asked me to turn on the water--but the sink still wouldn't drain. He then said he could "fix it" with a hydro jet service for $2,100. When I declined because it was far too expensive, he told me I still had to pay the $59 service fee, even though nothing had been fixed. After waiting around for two days, my drain was exactly the same, and I was out $59. Be careful. Charged us $400 for the assessment and claimed we needed a partial repipe for $16k. Sent over the pictures and video to another plumber and they quoted us $11k for FULL repipe from street to the house. What a huge difference right?! But the kicker?? We didn't even need to do repipe as all of our pipes are already copper! They lied to us making us think that if we don't repipe, our pipe will burst and our house will be flooded. All we needed to do was go to Home Depot and buy new filters for our faucet. I am appalled at their audacity to try to scam us to this extent. Here's few reasons (a) initially site shows very cheap rate for drain pipe cleaning (under$100) and when they come on site the employee will find reasons and increase prices to 6.5x ($650) (B) After some negotiation he comes down to $450, but earlier he lied saying prices are decided by company and we cannot change.. (C) Even when work was not fixed, this company charges $250 ( more than half for just visiting.. actual problem was not solved (D) Now the employee starts giving even higher quotes.. $6500 to replace whole drain , $1800 just to put 1 T section on pipe .. full on scam to charge more for unnecessary reasons. (E) Even basic tools were missing ex: he removed the toilet and put it back but he didn't even apply the caulk and neither did he clean or remove all the old caulking before seating the toilet seat... This is the most unprofessional outfit I have ever dealt with. We had $31,000 of work done and were given a 10year warranty if ANYTHING went wrong. DONT USE THESE GUYS!! Called these guys to come snake my kitchen sink because ours wasn't long enough. The plumber only went 35ft and said it's too clogged so he went under our house, even brought out his supervisor and they said we needa replace the pipes. The estimate was 4,000-6,000$$ We asked if they can try to snake it more than 35ft (the website said they do up to 75ft) the plumber told us he can't because it won't work. We couldn't afford that so they left and we were stuck with a clogged sink still. The next day we called another plumber who went only 50ft, kept running hot water, etc. Our sink was unclogged in 2 hours. The Rooter Hero office overseeing the projects outlined below was shown in the related contract with a Concord, CA address. The very expensive primary work I describe here was undertaken and completed by Rooter Hero in the first part of January, 2026. Caveat emptor: it's still true.... Buyer beware.... My initial experience -- for a needed late-night, December 20th auger-snaking of a clogged sewer main (a.k.a. "sewer lateral") from house to street (with family guests staying in our house) -- was satisfactory. Rooter Hero's technician visited for that task at around 1:30 AM or so. Some other companies that advertised "24/7" assistance turned out only to have someone answering the phone in the early AM, able then only to schedule a service visit in the next day or two. I included a camera scoping of the line by the Rooter Hero representative (at agreed-upon extra cost). The technician was also a larger-job estimator, as it happened. Since the sewer main was an ancient vitrified clay pipe line that showed about 5 linear feet of root intrusion (as I saw myself in the camera run), and likely soon to develop another blockage, I took a quote for trenchless replacement of that line, from the cleanout at the house out to the community sewer main in the middle of the street. The estimate, at a little over $26,000, seemed very high to me. But the street itself would need deep holes dug (later to be filled, with new pavement on top) for the new pipe connection, with traffic control etc. And a quick second estimate (from another heavily advertised firm) specified similar cost (once it's open-ended items were priced). So it seemed that perhaps the high project cost might "ball-park" as sort of reasonable. The Rooter Hero tech/estimator also suggested a look under the house, at general outflow-pipe condition there. I already knew myself of some problems under the house. Replacement of all that piping (much of it galvanized) with slightly larger-diameter ABS was estimated by the Rooter Hero rep to cost about $25,000. Due to some urgency factors in the background, I agreed to proceed with both jobs (total cost $51,500), and they were completed. Toilets and sink vanities had to be removed temporarily and were then replaced. That part of the job unfortunately left us with a piece of bathroom tile shattered and a corner molding cracked. Repairs were made, though I will now finish those properly as time allows. I noticed subsequently that a similar trenchless sewer main replacement had been done further along the street, by a different company. Checking with the owner there for what was clearly a longer replacement-pipe line (and with a needed curve to the right) I found that his trenchless job cost was "about $11,000" (vs. my roughly $26,000), completed by a much smaller company in his case. To all external appearances -- and to the functionality satisfaction of that owner -- his job was done well. So Rooter Hero's cost for the trenchless sewer-main replacement was more than double that other one. And having seen the man-hours involved and materials used in my under-house outflow piping replacement case, I believe that job was likewise vastly overpriced. My guesses were confirmed by a small-company plumbing tech whom I called in yesterday, now several weeks later, for a separate job. Urgency conditions and convenience, and a mistaken presumption on my part that small companies might not be able to accomplish at least the trenchless replacement part of my job satisfactorily, led to a hurried decision and many thousands of extra dollars spent that I could likely have saved. Hopefully, my experience can help others avoid the same sky-high cost problem. If possible and your timing situation permits: before agreeing to a major plumbing repair or replacement to be done by Rooter Hero (or another one of the other heavily advertised "bigs"): get estimates from at least one or two of the small local companies. At least some of them are surprisingly competent -- and conscientiously fair-priced besides, for even major jobs. And if that is your result, be sure to save the business card for your small-company plumber for any future work. read more

I had a blocked drain in my garage sink and called Rooter Hero for a quote and estimate. Initially, they quoted me around $700, which seemed reasonable, so I gave them the go-ahead. They ended up cutting the sink's pipe--claiming it was glued in with adhesive instead of being threaded--and began clearing out the drain inlet. That's when things started going downhill. They hit a blockage and couldn't proceed with their drain cleaning tool. At that point, they decided to call in a drain specialist. After some time spent talking among themselves in their car, they came back and dramatically changed the quote to a range between $4,600 and $60,000, depending on the service. I immediately told them I wasn't interested. They then tried to push discounts and coupons, but even with those, the price was still far above what's normal. I ended up contacting a local mom-and-pop plumber instead. They quoted me just $500 for a full descale, drain cleaning, and to repair the sink--which, by the way, Rooter Hero had cut and damaged. Rooter Hero had the audacity to say reinstalling the sink would cost an additional $1,700, despite the fact they were the ones who removed and broke it in the first place. In early March, I hired [Company Name] for a clogged kitchen sink. I was told by company staff that the service qualified for a $59 special. The technician snaked the line. During the service, the lid/cap covering the exterior main sewer line was removed, without explanation or documentation. I was told it was acceptable to leave it open and that no issues would result. Within weeks, foul‑smelling wastewater and food debris began discharging from the open sewer line in my backyard, a condition that did not exist prior to the contractor's work. I contacted the company and was advised the service was under a three‑month warranty. Despite multiple attempts to schedule corrective service, follow‑up repairs were not performed. I had to reschedule 8-9 times due to missed appointments, conflicting information, and technicians arriving outside agreed timeframes. A supervisor eventually visited on 4/18 but provided inconsistent information regarding pricing and timing of repairs. The missing sewer line cap was never corrected. This complaint is based on incomplete and improper workmanship, failure to correct defects under warranty, and failure to perform services in a competent and professional manner. There was no paper trail at all. They asked for her credit card and never told her what it actually cost. These men took advantage of my Mom, and scammed her out of thousands of dollars for work that did not need to be done. Rooter Hero (Martinez branch) is a scam at best and profits on elder abuse at worst. My hope is that an older person reads this and takes a pass on the drain check. I'm absolutely disgusted. !!!! BE AWARE !!!! I am a repeat customer because of my previous great experience, I called them this weekend and that changed from a 5 star to a 1 star. My 4" sewer drain was blocked by tree roots. All the previous guys (including rooter hero and non rooter hero guys) know the diameter and simply install a 4" blade to grind through it. 20-minute job. This time the tech only wants to use a 2" blade and cut a hole to let the backed up water flow through and called a day. He insisted that's what he can do and sent me another $2k quote to "fix" it. I wasn't happy and called RH customer service 3 times to complain and they promised to have a supervisor call me back to solve the issue. Of course, no one called. I normally will not leave a negative review but this time they cross the line. Even though I shared my good experience with some of my neighbors previously, but I will update them my horrible experience and will not use them again. Normally they have a warranty of their job, but they will not honor anything if it starts to back up again. UPDATE: It's been more than 48 hours, still no one is contacting me except someone replied to this message and asked me to call the same number I called before. They have my number and case. If I could give zero stars, I would. Rooter hero took blatant advantage of my grandparents, who are in their 90s and were looking for plumbing help. Danny came out and gave my grandmother one price verbally, then had her sign a contract with hidden up charges buried in the fine print which is something she didn't fully understand. It was manipulative and completely unethical. Management was made aware of it and STILL allowed it to happen. Only after multiple calls and having to file a complaint, they agreed to knock a few thousand dollars off. That should have been the end of it. Now, a few weeks later and a cracked leak has appeared that seems to be tied to the original work. Rooter hero is claiming they aren't responsible, but they'll fix it for a "discounted" price which is just more upcharging for their own mistake.
