I've only been you a handful of pizza places in Overland Park - this place is by far the best I've had so far. I got their thin crust cheese pizza and buffalo wings. The pizza sauce and cheese are exploding with flavor. The wings are a great size and the buffalo sauce is spot on. I really appreciate that they threw in some napkins and ranch too! Best Digiorno pizza I've ever eaten, hands down. The classic thin crust tasted like the dusty memory of fifty years in business. The toppings and sauce were indistinguishable from such an awful and dry flavorless crust. I assume at one time, decades ago - before the ubiquitous direct mailers, clawing flyers, and Groupon - old, Mr. Rosati, would conjure a mystical and flavorful crusty bread pie with real tomato sauce and decadent cheese. I mean, how could you go wrong since the sixties, and from Chicago of all places? I've enjoyed a $5 Little Caesar's pizza more, and used the $20 I saved to buy bulk toilet paper. This little walk-in/walk-out pizza joint seemed quaint: a chilly, tiny lobby, with interior design elements resembling a busy loading dock from 1940's Chicago - when frankfurters cost a nickel! Hundreds of unfolded pizza boxes wrapped in plastic are stacked to the ceiling, and restaurant supplies were strewn about, just behind the lobby register. Chaotic loading-dock lobby for authentic pizza feel? Check. The crust was dry, lacking entirely the orchestrated flavor complexity of great crust; it screamed of "quick risen, and cooked too long with no internal fat to keep bread flexible!" Consequently, this too-thick-to-be-thin, bland, dry-as-limestone crust, entirely overwhelmed whatever toppings and sauce may have been on the pizza. Honestly, I don't even know what was on my pizza - stuff, I suppose. The cheese was lacking a flavor at all, let alone concerning any richness or depth. And the sauce was surely tomato, tangy, but not pronounced enough to overwhelm that crust, nor able to distinguish itself as wholly present. Some say toppings make the pizza; some say crust is all there is. I believe in an offset balance, as tired bakers know that any left over bread dough, turned simple EVOO+Salt+Pepper-Focaccia pizza will make the sun come up at night, and shift the very tides of the earth. Bread is a living organism we capture and consume, and as such, we are compelled to continue this involuntary, delicious symbiotic relationship of flavor magic. When I buy bad bread, it ruins my day, and my pizza. This was a bad bread having seemingly been proliferated upon the public for 60 years - this, akin to a Rubia Gallega steak being prepared extra well done by a drunk tailgater at an Eagles game. Don't even get me going about the sesame loaf white bread that you slice doublewide, and pass off as garlic bread with none of rich butter or garlic, but of pungent vegetable oil notes, parsley, and salt. For shame. Oddly, the take-home bread of Garozzo's Italian Restaurant next door - of which I wrote about - is of the same sesame white loaf as Rosati's - collusion, mischief! Oh my gosh seriously the best deep dish pizza in KC!! The tomatoes were fresh and really great. The chopped garlic was as great option and loved it added to my pizza. We ordered online and it was hot and ready to go a few minutes after we got there. We got the small and my husband and I split the pieces. They were very filling pieces! The pizza also reheated well in the oven. The only complaint I have is that we live 30 mins from the store and there is no dine in option! That's a long drive to have a hot fresh amazing smelling pizza sitting on your lap and you have to wait 30 mins to eat it! Please get a long bar at the front window or rent out the space next door! Oh, and make sure you have an appetite. One slice is enough to instantly force you to get gastric-bypass surgery. The pizza is obese. The slices are obese. your appetite, it better be obese. Made fresh to order, takes a whole 40 minutes to bake (just like a REAL Chicago deep-dish pizza takes, A.K.A. Giordano's) and the most delicious cheese anywhere, this place is off the heezy fa sheezy. (For all of you non-New Orleans hoody-hood folks, that means it's great) The Calzone's here are also top-notch. The calzone's are fresh made and the toppings are to order. So if you like Peperoni, homemade Italian sausage, green peppers with extra cheese, this is the place to go. If Cafe AL Dente didn't have a light's out calzone, this place would absolutely demolish every other restaurant in KC. So I have been dying to find an authentic Chicago style pizzarea in Kansas City since I moved here in 2006. There of course is The Dish up in Liberty, MO (like an hour drive for me) and there was Victors in Lenexa (a 5 min drive for me, but it sucked and it's closed). Well somehow I missed this wonderful place called Rosati's. Sweet Jesus I've found my pizza heaven. Chicago style deep dish/stuffed pizza is my favorite. Ever since trying Giordannos (in Chicago), I've fallen in love with this type. Well Rosati's certainly delivers (though not way out to my house in Lenexa hehe). The pizza was exactly what I expected. I ordered a stuffed Italian Beef and when I opened my pizza box, there it was, a delishous, several inch thick pie, with the tomato sauce right there on top, like a Chicago pie should be. This place is a carry-out/delivery only, so don't plan on going there with the family and sitting. The pizza is more expensive than the large national franchises, but then again, you don't go to McDonald's for a fine steak either. The lobby was very clean and decorated in a cool manner. Once you buy 12 pies you get 50% off of your next pizza. Also it's Front Flip friendly (I won 10% off of my order). I can't wait to return! read more

I am a Chicagoan born and raised, yet I have lived within 10 minutes of this Rosati's for 2 1/2 years and never tried it. I finally decided I would get a pie to eat while watching the Bears on Sunday Night Football. Good choice on my part! I ordered a large (14") deep dish with sausage, figuring I could get a couple meals out of it. In the end it will probably last five meals. At $18 for the pizza, with a topping, I call that a good deal. So on to the taste - really, really delicious. It was really shockingly close to what it tastes like back in Chicago. The crust was buttery, the tomatoes and cheese were plentiful and flavorful, and the sausage was fairly close to what it is like back home. I'll definitely be back when I need my Chicago deep dish fix in between trips to get the real stuff! read more

I'm tired of regular boring pepperoni, or vegetarian lovers, or Canadian bacon. I got tired of the whole commercial pizza culture,and was ready for something else. Knowing I would be in the Corporate Woods area today, I found Rosati's on Yelp. I looked at their online menu, and gave them a call. I ordered 3 small (10 inch size) pizzas, of oddities, such as Thai chicken, buffalo chicken, and Hawaiian. It's not Tree Guys Pizza in Itasca, Ill, nope, but the crust and flavor is quite close. The Thai chicken has red peppers, onions, carrots and chicken in slices, on a peanut sauce. The Buffalo chicken has chicken, ranch sauce, mozzarella cheese and buffalo chicken sauce on a flakey crust. I didn't get the cheapest crust, I got the double crust, which is very good. The Hawaiian pizza has Canadian bacon, tomatoes, and cheese with barbecue sauce. I took it home,and my 80 year old mother asked, "Does the buffalo chicken have buffalo on it?" Epic. But I really liked this pizza. A 10 inch is what you need. The only thing missing from Rosati's is chairs. But that's okay. While I was there, the business was steady for a Sunday afternoon. read more

First time--Wanted to try a different pizza place while in Leawood. This place had high reviews so took a chance. Exceptional pizza! Crust ( thin) so crispy it held itself up (the way they used to ) and we got it loaded. Ordered delivery and it does take a while, but delivery fee in total so all was paid for when it finally arrived. They are kinda expensive for a pizza place but well worth it. Second time--in Leawood again so ordered from this restaurant again since we'd had such a good experience last time. Must have had a chance of employees or management. Order same kind of pizza ( on line ) delivery. We knew from previous experience it would take about an hour. Well, I had to call twice in the 2 hours that it took them, then it was the wrong pizza order. Call again and they first said we'll give you a credit on your next order. No way. I told them I wanted the pizzas I had ordered. So after over 3 hours we finally got to eat dinner. That's the reason for 3 stars. The food is great, but it's really aggravating for them to get an entire order incorrect and you know someone else didn't get their correct order also. WOW! I heart thin crust pizza and they have an excellent thin crust pizza!!!! The crust is thin and crispy. My sausage pizza was good. I was blown away on the garlic sauce wings. There were crispy (not from fried, from being baked) and the garlic sauce was great but no overpowering. It is not NY pie but it is good pie. read more

Chicago deep dish. My first, so I can't testify to it's authenticity, but I liked it! This is a knife and fork affair, I can't imagine trying to pick up a slice it's so filled with toppings. Sadly, the edge crust were too hard to eat. We ordered online and were instructed to arrive for pick up between 30 to 40 minutes later. We arrived at the 35 minute mark and were made to wait another 25 minutes as our pizza wasn't ready yet. That seemed excessively long to me. Visited tonight for the first time. Boyfriend is a long time New Yorker who's used to New York pizza. I've been to Chicago and had deep dish there and loved it, for me this was a pleasant trip down memory lane. For him, it was a first experience and although he is a die hard New York pizza fan, even he had to admit it was good. We got a large monster deep dish to share. We couldn't eat more then one piece. Slices are huge and filling. The sausage was so yummy on it, spiced perfectly. Also ours had huge cuts of bacon on it which I don't think it was supposed to but it was a nice little treat. I really enjoyed this pizza, and wish they'd make another location a little closer (about a 15 minute drive from me.) but I'm sure It still won't be too hard to convince my New Yorker boyfriend to return another time. Finally Chicago style pizza it doesn't require a spoon to eat it. Perfect amount of sauce cheese and other toppings this might be the only place I get pizza from now on. I've tried a lot of deep dish pizzas from all over the city and they're usually soggy uncooked dough in the middle with way too much sauce. 10/10 will be back. read more

Even talked to the manager.. still no.. have a hard time wrapping my head around such a small radius for a pizza place. So, it's been more than an hour since my pizza was ordered and I still have not received it. When I called the store they told me it was out for delivery. Had Rosati's years ago and remember being less than impressed but figured we'd give it a shot last night. Not only was the 35 minute wait 20 to 25 minutes shy of the actual mark, but our 'monster' pie loaded with toppings was the most flavorless pizza I've ever had. The sauce has zero flavor and I would have expected some flavor with all those toppings but it was just meh. Can't say as I would ever recommend this place, stick with the local gourmet pizza shops. read more

Started off by just ordering my food and doing it delivery style they said it worked be about a hour and a half wait that's cool gave me plenty of time to do things I ordered the xl pizza sausage and pepperoni my go to light sauce because some get lost in the sauce I also ordered the pound of boneless wings with ig there garlic herb sauce but it was over powering to say the less they put so much sauce in the container that after eatiing what I saw on top I had to fish out the remainder of the wings that had got lost in the sauce need less to say the wings were good just to much sauce I also ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo no knowing that it had peas inside who puts peas in in fettuccine all in all the food taste was there for the most part would revisit but next time I know what I'm getting into with there love of sauce em up read more

I've been coming to Rosoti's since moving to Kansas City back in 2000. I used to work only a couple miles away, and our team would have it brought in for team meetings and other work events. Fast forward 18 years, and I still enjoy this pizza. The thing that I think sets Rosati's apart from the competition is the massive amounts of toppings and cheese that they put on the pizza. Normally I order the Rosotis Monster pizza, it has Pep, Sausage, Hamburger, Mushrooms, Onions, Peppers, Olives and Bacon. Very filling, and the Family size is huge, feels like it weighs 10lb. The only downside I see here, is the it has a bit of a higher price point than some of the competitor pizzas, and there is no dining area at all, this is strictly a place where you have to carry out. read more

This might be.... hands down.... the worst pizza I have ever had. In fact, it went straight into the trash, and we just ordered from Toppers. Traveling through KCMO.... We ordered a family Pizza with Sausage and onions and garlic. The crust wasn't "crust" yet an awful thick white bread which we could barely bite through. Thick and dense... not crispy and chewy.... it tasted like a stale bun. Basically... this was bread and sauce. I did not see one spec of onion, or garlic or CHEESE?? Where is the Cheese???
