This place never fails. My third time here in as many trips to the Oregon coast and the food is always amazing, the view is spectacular and the desserts are quite special. I came by for lunch on a day that luckily had a few sunny breaks but with the quixotic Oregon weather, you know that can change in minutes so took advantage of the sunshine. I had the oyster shooters, crabcakes and clam chowder for lunch which were excellent. I remember how great the Tres Leches cake was the last time I had it 4 years ago and opted for it once again. My husband and I stumbled upon this place many years ago in the sleepy town, in the best possible way, of Oceanside, Oregon . The scenic beauty of the bay and houses nestled in the cliff side, took my breath away. Roseanna's is one of two restaurants,that I know of, in Oceanside. Roseanna's also happened to be the only place open at the time and we were charmed by the outside appearance and decided to try it. We both had a bowl of clam chowder and decided this place was off to a good start! Afterwards, we shared a Marionberry cobbler. We were hooked! This is the best cobbled I have ever had! From then on, every time we visit the northern part of the Oregon coast, we make a stop at Roseanna's. On our recent visit, we drove from Cannon Beach to have dinner at Roseanna's. I had the Lillie's penne pasta with prawns and scallops and my husband had the spicy garlic seafood pasta. All I can say is amazing! Again, they knocked it out of the park. Both dishes were cooked to perfection! And,of course, after dinner we had our usual marionberry cobbler. They offer so may different desserts here, but I can't seem to deviate to any of them because the marionberry is that good! This place is well worth the drive and wait! Disappointed. Oysters were fresh and a great price, but wish they were in the half shell still. Decent size bowl of clam chowder which was good, nothing outstanding compared to other locations. Biggest let down was the menu called the Snug Harbor an open face on sourdough for $17. You got a $9 deli sandwich melt, half had barely anything on it (see picture), dry with no dill aioli taste at all, very little Tillamook cheese, obviously frozen bay shrimp, tiniest bit of dungeness crab we couldn't taste either. It was like a premade filling and slapped onto a toasted slice of sandwich bread. You also got a pickle spears and a large handful of bagged rippled chips, not even homemade chips. The way it was described we thought it'd be a large piece of sourdough with a good amount of aioli, gooey amounts of cheese topped with bay shrimp and visible and tasty crab, nope just a huge let down. This place is amazing. On the coast for the weekend and have already been twice. From Seattle to San Francisco, this is hands down the best clam chowder - which my husband and I ordered both times we've been! Every bite has large chunks of clams and the flavor is just spot on! Also got the crab cake entree and sautéed scallop entree- both were great. The scallops were cooked to perfection. My husband also got the crab cocktail which was so fresh and delicious. This place is absolutely adorable! Family owned and only restaurant in town, they've got a prime location on the water. They accommodated a group of 6 of us at closing and still took care of us like we were there when they opened, truly appreciated that. Lacy is amazing! It's a smaller space and can get a little busy, esp being the only place in town, so be prepared to possibly wait. They've got a small counter area to hang and wait or if the weather is nice, grab some wine and stare at the ocean (oh darn) The crab cakes were so good we went back for them the following day. They're crab yall! No filler, no shells, pure love and crab. Like mostly everything in the restaurant however. We returned to Oceanside to visit Roseanna's again last night, and I'm happy to report that my five star rating still stands. This is probably our fifth time eating at Roseanna's, since we love it so much. Whenever we find ourselves somewhere within an hour or two of Oceanside, there is likely to be a trip there to visit our favorite restaurant there. My dinner last night was a Spicy Seafood Penne Pasta dish that was absolutely incredible. After the main course, we got the marrionberry cobbler for dessert, which again, Roseanna's has hit one out of the park. What an incredible meal! read more

They might be the only restaurant in Oceanside open for dinner, but we lucked out because the food was amazing! We had their crab cakes to start and they were the best crab cakes we've ever had, full of big chunks of crab (we had previously thought Salty's had the best crab cakes but those are not in 2nd place status). The Hubs had the Tiger Prawns entree and the only negative was the green beans on the side were not cooked nearly enough and still a bit raw. I had their King Salmon special (the fish was perfect!) served on a huge salad full of greens, veggies & fruit served with a tasty vinaigrette. The service was okay considering how busy they were. We stopped in for an early dinner around 4:45 p.m. and they were already busy but still had a few tables open, but after a short time they were totally full and the waiting area & outside was full of people waiting for a table. read more

Overlooking the ocean is a not-so-secret spot where I had some of the best crab cakes I've ever tasted in my life! Staff was super friendly and sat us to dinner even 20 minutes before closing time. Portions were generous, filling, and delectable! Their chowder had giant chunks of clam meat and could rival anything I've had on this coast. SAVE ROOM FOR DESSERT!!! Great view of the ocean while you eat! It's not a huge place, so you may have to wait a bit before you are seated. Meal was good and filling - recommend the salmon and the halibut. We were up hiking around at the lighthouse and decided to go find somewhere to eat.. Saw the great reviews on this place and decided to give it a try. I did think it was going to be OK...but with a great view.... I was wrong...it was Fantastic with a great view and fantastic service. We had the clam chowder, salad and I had the cioppino and it was all spectacular! The waitress was delivering another table crab cakes and they looked so good we got those too!! BEST CLAM CHOWDER ON THE OREGON COAST!!! This cute little restaurant boasts an unencumbered ocean view and elegant yet homie atmosphere. We came here on Mother's Day and we were not disappointed. A little on the costly size but not unexpected since there are few restaurants in the area, and the food was delicious. Besides the outstanding clam chowder, the Snapper with lemon herb butter was melt in your mouth delicious and portions were just right. We will have to come back for the desserts which looked and sounded delightful. The service all around was friendly and responsive. A must try. read more

The first time I was here in January 2020 I had one of the best meals and amazing service. I wrote a rave review and was excited to bring family in town for a wedding so they too could enjoy the delicious cuisine. Unfortunately this experience was sub par in every category. The waitress couldn't seem to manage the few tables she had even though capacity has been reduced by half at least due to COVID-19. She couldn't understand my request for the Turkey BLT sandwich without the Turkey. I just wanted a BLT, no Turkey. The kitchen prepared a completely deconstructed sandwich: Turkey, bacon, tomato, lettuce and Mayo all on the side with 2 pieces of dry toast. That was fine, I made my own sandwich. The worst part of service was that the only child in our group (a 7 yr old) ordered a simple hamburger and fries but his order didn't arrive when our adult entrees were delivered. Pasta and seafood dishes were all prepared faster than a hamburger? The waitress didn't mention his food when she delivered our 4 plates, and we assumed she left to go get his food when she walked away from the table. It was a real challenge for him to wait while we were receiving our plates. She was out of site for a considerable period of time and when she returned she walked past us to start bussing the table next to ours. I called out to her, "Excuse me, can you let us know about the status of the hamburger he ordered?" She acknowledged that it would be out soon and continued cleaning tables. She carried the dirty dishes from the other table and then returned with his burger. I don't know if she overlooked it when she delivered our order or if someone in the kitchen has poor time management skills. The saddest part of our experience was that nothing we ordered was exceptional as it has been on my previous visit in Jan2020. On tho most recent visit, there were no delicate sauces, tender-crisp veggies or perfectly prepared seafood. It was all just mediocre. This was a real disappointment after the 5 star experience we had during my first visit. I raved to everyone I knew for weeks after we got home. This place is no longer anything special based on this experience and I am sad about that. I am here on the coast a couple times a year and this spot would have been on my "must stop here" to-do list on the coast every time I visit. read more

A forgettable meal in an unforgettable location. My family visits Oceanside several times a year, but this was our first meal at Roseanna's. We've walked by many times and since the menu isn't posted in front of the restaurant (or online), you need to walk inside and ask for the daily menu from the server before making your decision. Always a bit awkward, since I usually don't see what I'm looking for and walk out the door. Our meal was pretty much what I expected based on reviews by friends. If you subtract the nostalgia and the view, then you have a mediocre experience. I have had some outstanding meals along the Coast at this price point, or less, and Roseanna's just didn't measure up. The building is from the early 1900s and was renovated in the 80s. It feels dated, but not in a good way. The atmosphere is more homey and quirky, rather than upscale, and so is the service. This is a bit of a mismatch since they are striving for cuisine and charging on the higher end, without providing that nicer dining experience. The highlights of our experience were the chowder served with dark bread and that gorgeous view of Three Arch Rocks. We scored a prime table along the window on a sunny day, so we experienced Roseanna's in its best light. The two lunch entrees from the specials menu were fine, as was the burger, without being distinctive or memorable. My dish, in particular, was just one dimensional and I stopped eating after awhile. Since they really are (almost) the only game in town, if I did return, I would get the chowder, skip the entree, and sample one of their desserts. I think those elements are its strong suit. Their 2011 summer hours are: 7 days a week Breakfast: 9am - 11:30am Lunch: 10am - 4pm Dinner: 4pm - 9pm --No Reservations I am a fan of the coffeehouse in town, Brewin' in the Wind, which just moved across the street from Roseanna's. They also serve some basic sandwiches and bakery items. But really the best game in town is to enjoy your meal or coffee drink on Oceanside Beach. An average of three stars? Really? That certainly did not describe our meal here today. From the word "go" it was good. Not cheap, but quite good. We started by sharing a salad. Out comes this extraordinary and generous salad and even more extraordinary house-made herbal blue cheese dressing. The baby greens were topped with jicama, pickled onions and pickled cucumber, and a healthy sprinkling of homemade croutons. So yummy, I almost ordered a second one. We asked for bread, and out comes a little mini loaf of squaw bread and butter. Double yum. A small charge incurred for that extra. I got an open faced sandwich, a nicely toasted English muffin topped with fresh shrimp and crab (that was dipped in butter, I suspect), topped with good melted cheddar. It came with a dill aoli. I passed on the aoli, dill is not my thing, usually. It came with my preference for the soup of the day, chicken curry with rice. Full of meat and lightly seasoned. Very creamy. A good choice. The meal was a success. Glad I had them put the aoli on the side. Mr. B had the grilled oysters (5 plump, breaded ones). Nicely done. It came with a pile of grilled red potatoes. His only complaint, he asked for their clam chowder as his one side. He is not a fan of dill either, and this one was full of it. He should have said something, but didn't, and ended up leaving most of it. He also ordered a glass of the house white wine. An Airlie Winery (hails from Monmouth, Or), Muller Thurgau wine. He was so impressed he is now on a quest to find that wine. Just so you know, we are completely re-arranging our drive back home now, just for this wine. Dessert. Well, if you look at the pictures, they have an evil white board devoted almost completely to their homemade temptations. Already weak knee'd from our earlier hike, I succumed. We shared a Marion berry cobbler, hot, topped with a freshly baked biscuit and completed with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. So good, and not too sweet. The berries were sweet enough. And then, Mr. B kept his chocolate crunch mousse cake intact, for an indulgence at a later time. (I sneaked a taste, it was awesome). The coffee. We had to have some with dessert. It was quite nice. It is a Columbia River Roaster's (Astoria) blend made specially for Roseanna's, but it sure tastes like some good Sumatra to me. Ok, that goes on your to-buy list, Wendy. Astoria. Hmmm. I am afraid I can't rearrange our trip that much. I liked that the chef put his own touch on his platings. Little sprays of eatible flowers and leaves (and I do eat them) that might have come from his own garden. Each plate was different. It was noticed and appreciated. Great service. TL;DR -- miserable experience, 2-hr wait, bad service, crying, $200. Really wanted to love this place -- super cool-looking with a good-sounding menu, but...last night, we put our name on the list at 6:30; one person told us 35 minutes, another said an hour. No problem -- there's not much on this part of the coast, so we were happy to wait. We got a glass of wine and settled in...for a two hour wait. We were finally seated at 8:30, well after the 8:00 closing time (and that of every other restaurant in the area). The staff was clearly hassled that we were still there (like it was our fault?) and service was very slow, which was odd, given that the place was now empty. Our bottle of wine showed up after our appetizers, they were out of the halibut cheeks special, food was very average overall, and the whole experience was pretty disjointed. The pinnacle was when my wife's halibut sandwich showed up and it had so little fish on it that she literally cried -- there wasn't really anything else to do at that point. We spent $200 after tip and I'm pretty sure that not one of the four of us left the restaurant happy. read more

Very good! Both for the adults and the kids. Forget the haters, the dining here for dinner was awesome. First off, the view: Holy smokes, Awesome! The service: Quick, polite, attentive. The food: Again pretty awesome. Locally sourced shellfish. Amazingly smoked salmon. Crazy good Cajun snapper (a special today). Pretty decent wine and beer options. The kids menu was also a winner with our little ones. Maybe it was just what we ordered, but the flavors were quite bold. I can see how a long wait could happen here. The seating is limited (12 or so tables in the dining area) and the food is good. We were seated immediately at 5:30 on a weekday. The prices were definitely modest for the dining experience. Though not cheap, we were more than satisfied with the $25 - $30 entres, $30 bottle of yummy wine, and $10 kids meals. I would rate this restaurant higher than three because of their most delicious crabcakes. Where things slightly take a turn is when you order the shrimp cocktail. Do you mean Langostino cocktail or what we call in SpongeBob land fish bait or chum? It seems as this town is very keen on their special finishing salts; this restaurant does not subscribe to the town motto. Fingerling potatoes were tender but beware, you will have to do something to them to make them pleasing. I don't like to leave sub par reviews because I've been in the restaurant industry. Came here for a late dinner. Be prepared to wait a little bit but it was well worth it. We arrived at 7:15 (they "close" at 8) and got seated about an hour later. Great views of the sunset. Food came quick. We shared 3 apps and dessert. We ordered the bacon wrapped scallops (4 scallops), crab cakes (4 in an order), and shrimp cocktail. Note that the shrimp are very small... almost like shrimp that go on a salad. Tasty, but different than what we expected. We topped dinner off with a piece of toll house pie a la mode. Came here everyday I stayed in Oceanside and was never disappointed. The waitstaff are all so friendly they truly made my dinners fun. I wasn't hungry the second day so just had a side salad and clam chowder and loved the clam chowder and the ranch for the salad was that good good ranch (you know what I mean) and I also got the prawns and roasted potatoes the other day and it was nicely seasoned and hit the spot.
