There was a wait when we first arrived but we were seated within 20 minutes which they quoted. Our server was very attentive considering they were short staffed on servers. We started with a mango margarita and a big bowl of Menudo. The menudo was very tasty but could have used a bit more tripe and a little less hominy. We then ordered machaca enchiladas for me and the flank steak n eggs for my friend. Here was good but the shredded beef was over cooked and dry for the most part. There were some less cooked parts but not much so I didn't finish and didn't take it home. I advised the server about the beef, she apologized . She said she didn't charge us for the margarita, so I asked why because we enjoyed it. She said it was on the check so she left it off rather than return my meal. I am guessing because it cost them less to eat the drink instead of the food cost wise. A manager never came over to talk to us about the issue, which didn't surprise me even though it was our first time visiting the establishment. It seems to be a very popular place so perhaps it was a one off on the food quality. Most likely won't visit again any time soon as I live on the east coast. read more

I officially have a new favorite spot for Mexican food in the Valley! My husband and I have been on the hunt for the "perfect" Mexican food for a long time- somewhere we can bring out-of-towners when they come to Phoenix wanting something authentic- and we've finally found it! The chips are hot and fresh, and all their sauces are soooo perfectly spicy. The chimichanga is the BEST I've ever had. I will say the Chile relleno was a little soggy for my taste, so I probably won't be having that again- but I can't wait to try other menu items! Since moving to Phoenix I had tried many different Mexican spots but none have a place in my heart like this place. It has a very cozy and homey atmosphere with amazing food. One of my main criteria for picking a Mexican restaurant is if that place is too hot to touch when they bring it to me and this place hits it on the nose every time. The green chili beef enchiladas with the red chili tamale is my main go to. They also have amazing pozole that warms the soul. And the service is amazing almost like clock work they come by just at the right time in between eating. This place is delish!! We happened upon it earlier this month and we're impressed that a group of 6 of us could essentially feast for a reasonable price. The strawberry and watermelon margaritas were really yummy! You have to purchase chips and salsa, but they're super cheap and well worth it. Both the red and the green salsa are very tasty. We all went back again last night and were not disappointed! We all found ourselves enjoying our orders so much we would end up sharing some of what was on our plate so we could all share in the yumminess. Cute cozy restaurant with a good atmosphere. They had a cute little pond with fish that gave it that unique touch. I came here for the menudo because I've heard it has the best. It was really tasty not as spicy which is perfect. I had a corona michelada because they were out of xx :/ , but let me tell you it was the best michelada I've had in months even better than the ones I make! I also ordered a cheese enchilada just to try, but I wanted a green one and got a red one :/. It was still good, but I've never been a fan of red so it's hard for me to judge it. My friend ordered a lemonade and I had a taste and it was delicious she thought it was a bit sour though. They also offered us salsa and chips and we of course said yes. The chips were warm so I can tell they made them there they were delish! The salsas were a little bland and lacked some seasoning. We are Phoenix exiles, living on Long Island for the past 30 years. The thing we miss the most about Arizona is, hands down, Mexican food. We discovered Rosita's on our 2016 visit, and they were on the MUST list for our recent visit. There is nothing here not to love. The fish pond inside the seating area, the service, and, of course the food. The chimichonga was big enough to feed a village, and the enchiladas were wonderful. There are several other Phoenix restaurants we like a lot, but Rosita has won our hearts. read more

I grew up in So Cal and have had my fair share of Mexican food. This place takes the cake. The enchilada sauce was TO DIE FOR. We asked for a side of it to go so we could dip our chips in it. The chips were hot and fresh. The portions were huge. Everything about our order was delicious. Even the Iced Tea. It's not very often my wife and I agree in Mexican food but this time, we both did. Sometimes, the Lord giveth and other times, the Lord taketh away. In the same week, one of my favorite hometown Mexican restaurants closed for good. Meanwhile, I was introduced to a wonderful new option here in the valley which happens to be close to my office. Thank the Lord for Rosita's Place! When I say "new", I mean it's new to me. But Rosita's Place has been hiding near 24th Street and the 202 since the '60's. And the parking, although abundant, is hiding behind the building. It's easy to miss the narrow driveway to the rear parking lot which is smack up against the west wall of the restaurant. Once inside, you will be greeted by decor and charm that is classic Arizona and hard to replicate in a new restaurant. And wait until you see the huge bowl of freshly cooked chips that will be on the table soon. The chips come with a green (hot) and red (hotter) salsa and both are outstanding! The menu is extensive. So much so, that I need to make a return trip to size it up. But I did find an entree that caught my eye. I chose the Mixed Plate which included a red and green Chile. The beans and rice are stunning and clearly made from scratch. And the portion (served on the hottest plate I've seen in years) was more than generous. I had plenty of delicious leftovers for the next day. Rosita's Place is outstanding! I've already talked about it at work and to friends. Most have heard of it, but hadn't tried it yet. I love Rosita's. The food is so authentic and delicious. Be careful with the salsa though, it's very spicy. The portions are big and I always take leftovers home. I recommend the red menudo. Holy Mole! I think I have found the best Mole in town. Had dinner at this small authentic Mexican restaurant last night, and was impressed how many years this place has been operating. Ordered two chicken enchiladas with Mole sauce which also came with rice and beans. Their plates are huge and you'll definitely need a to go box. I'm a huge fan of hard shell tacos which they also serve, so I will definitely be back to try those, along with a margarita. read more

I don't know why it's taken me so long to eat at a restaurant I bookmarked in 2008, but here we are. We ordered takeout, so I can't comment on service or the like, but our order was correct with the exception of getting corn tortillas instead of flour. Cheese crisp was good, but cold. Casualty of takeout. I've yet to find red or green chile I like with the exception of a very short list, so I got the mixed plate which has both. Mmmmmmmmmm. Loved both! The green was hotter, but not so much that I couldn't eat it. More like the kind of hot that helps you feel full sooner. Not a bad thing if you saw my pant size. Plus, I got a lunch and a half out of the deal, too. The husband had the tampiquena dinner. He liked it. I didn't get much more than that out of him. The only real downer was the guacamole was some of the worst I've ever had, EVER! Maybe it was an off night? Did not taste fresh at all. Maybe they don't use hass avocado? Food is usually 8 out of 10 but often the green chili beef enchiladas meat is tough. They took away Dr Pepper which was my favorite drink, so know I save $4 on that and bring in my Dr Pepper from Circle K. Service is good until you get the food and then u will wait a long time to pay check. Ambience is nice. Don't try calling in an order for pick up. They either take phone off the hook or someone is chatting for a long time. Received busy signal 18 times in an hour. I finally gave up. read more

If you happen to drive a long way just to find yourself at the Barrio Cafe, on a Monday afternoon, and then notice the sign that says they are closed on Monday's, then I've got a great solution for you. Head south-east my friend, over to Rosita's. This is a great little 'hole in the wall' eatery. I wasn't disappointed, and neither was the group I had in tow. Their re-fried beans were so creamy and flavour-ful. Yeah, that's right, I used a 'u' in flavour, because they're that good. Next time I'm in the area, I plan on giving the frozen horchata with coconut rum a taste. Be forewarned, the place is small, so if there is a group of cackling hens at the table behind you doing tequila shooters, it will make for a vexing dining experience. read more

Met a friend for lunch. We sat down and the server asked if we wanted chips with salsa and my friend said no because they charge $3.00 for a basket of chips. My friend and I ordered a chimichanga enchilada style to share. We asked the server to bring a small dish of extra enchilada sauce bc the chimichangas did not have enough sauce on it. When we received the bill, we were charged an extra $4.00 for the small dish of enchilada sauce. I questioned the server about the additional charge and she said she had to talk to the manager. The manager advised us that there is an additional charge for anything extra. I told her I understand however the server did not tell us the extra sauce will be $4.00. The food will quality was average. Nothing special. I've been coming here for years and it's one of my favorite places. Everyone is always nice! This review is SOLELY based on my take out customer service (or lack of) I received today. The waiting area was pretty packed so I waited by the door . This girl comes up and starts asking people if they ordered. She had big time attitude. When she finally asked me my order was ready. I came up and she was just cold and rude. She even got a call in that moment and her tone was just sh*tty. I'm assuming the girl who was in the front is Anais because that's the name on the receipt. Maybe she was tired, stressed, or a bad day? We all have those but you don't have to project it on to your patrons. I work with the public and that's unacceptable. Although the flavor was good the meat killed it for me I like my green chili with a different type of meat not shredded beef. Alright so of course I have been coming here for years and have started checking in every time I come or we'll when I remember. Everything here is pretty good, fresh and tasty! Had to use the chips to eat my food (scooping rice and beans) since they don't offer silverware. I had to use tissues, cause they didn't include napkins. Ordered a beef taco and instead, got a bean taco. Who puts retried beans into a taco, to pass it for meat? Nothing special about the beans or rice.
