I came here with a GF because we wanted to meet up for lunch in a central location. The staff was really sweet, was so nice to us, and was very attentive. We ordered what we saw on Yelp pictures, the lomo saltado with the yummy, green noodles. Delicious! I enjoyed the salty dish, with lots of free bread refills. I just parked on the street (at the meter) in front of the restaurant. I would recommend this place because I don't have good Peruvian food where I live. read more

The food and ambiance is so good! Very dim intimate lighting and beautiful decor! The service was also very sweet and kind. Very mindful of us and their other tables! We tried the anticuchos which I crave weekly; their ceviche clásico, and arroz chaufa! Everything was prepared deliciously and with so much flavor. Will be back soon!! read more

This place is always good. Ever since I've tried Peruvian food, it's pretty much been a weekly meal for me. I came here on a Thursday evening for dinner and ordered the pollo chaufa (fried rice), tallarin saltado, and ceviche mixto. Everything was fantastic and absolutely delicious. There's not many good Peruvian places in Los Angeles, but this place is really good. The beef is soft along with the potato that soaked up all the beef juice! I also like their ceviche. It's a lot more spicy and sour compared to the others but the piece of sweet potatoes just makes it so much better. Not to mention the crunchy corn. Definitely worth a try! read more

I didn't want to leave a review, but I have to be honest. We had the worst experience in this restaurant, we were 11 people. We ordered 6 steaks , 4 out of 6 of us didn't even touch it, all the sides that they brought was wrong. The pasta sauce was tasteless. read more

Sunday noon - not too busy and was seated right away. Service was quick and staff were polite. Loved that about this place. The ambiance was great and music was lively. They provided complimentary bread and butter to start. The pollo fried rice was very basic. Seemed like rice egg green onion and chicken. Thats it. Too much soy sauce made it a bit too salty but the chicken quality was spot on. This dish was $16. The lomo saltado also was a bit too salty as well. Too much sauce and the carne quantity wasn't as much. A lot more fries so ratio was a little too off. $18 for this dish. read more

I've tried Rosty a couple times now, and I've been satisfied each time! Their seafood is excellent, and the dining area inside is very nice despite how it seems they do a lot of delivery business. I need to try their ceviche at one point, as I've heard raves about it too. Friendly staff. The cost of all that? Well...the cost. It is quite overpriced compared to other Peruvian options in LA - $30 per person without alcohol? Parking nearby is a bit tricky if you don't want to use the paid lots. read more

Small place that serves Peruvian comfort food. They give you three sauces to try out with your food or dip with your complimentary french bread. Tried the lomo steak with pesto pasta. The steak was soft and the onion and tomato with the dish was amazing. The portion is pretty big and filling. The fries they use for the lomo saltado soaks up the juices and doesn't taste like your idaho potato. Service was great and the server was very attentive. Come early, this place gets place and I can see why. It's just good comfort food. read more

I had a really great time here at Rostys! It was my first time here and came in on a Sunday. Was able to be seated right away! We ordered the ceviche, saltado de pollo, and saltada ceviche. It was SOOO yummy. I seriously loved the saltado the pollo. It was perfectly sweet and the onions were cooked perfectly. They also gave a good amount of ceviche and had lots of leftovers. So happy I found this spot! Will be back! read more

I love love love this place! I love the wood fired chicken and the chicken soup. I think the soup may be too salty for some people but if you eat it with rice, it really hits the spot. The chicken is juicy and amazing. I would come here more if parking was a bit easier. Ambiance is very casual and chill. If I get takeout, I usually park at grocery outlet and walk over lol.. shh! Service and the people are great per usual. Super friendly! read more

******5 star for great service ****** This is my second time eating here , first time I got Lomo Saltado and today I got chicken saltado , both times delicious! Learned the difference between the both lol I thought they were the same dish. The chicken was super soft, tender, crispy and delicious. The server Carla has a super personality!!!! My go to Peruvian spot in LA. Surpasses even Inti in flavor profile depth and ingredient quality. I always get the Lomo Saltado and the Chouffa de Pollo, which is my favorite rice dish in the city! They are known for the their ceviches of course but for me it's the savory stodgy dishes combined with the three sauces. We absolutely love the white sauce and the green! Yellow is sneaky spicy but also delicious. You really can't go wrong here - I love it. Worth your investment. read more

this is NOT for the food and I hope to return and update this, it's for the awkwardness. we got here 30 min before closing, we waited at the front for a bit before someone came to us- we asked if it was too late to order/dine in, the waiter said "yes it is" so as we were turning to leave he said we can order but we have to be done by 9... we were walking to our table and given menus but as I looked at the clock, we were approaching 8:40, hadn't ordered and were stressed about the having to leave by 9. we got up to leave, no one said anything, but what I will say is the food smelled amazing and I hope to redo this review. we ended up at homestate a few doors down and it was delicious and not at all stressfu. read more

Rosty is a hidden gem! The food is authentic, hearty, flavorful, well presented, and cooked with love. Their portions are large and for the price it's outstanding. Their service was decent. They did not check on us much sitting down, but because the food was good. It didn't matter much! The ambiance is great for a casual lunch, nothing fancy, just expect good Peruvian food. This is our third time here. My dad and I love it but we live in Pasadena so kind of a ways away treat when we both have the time to go. We've shared the copa nostra which never fails to make us do our happy food dance. This time around we tried this pasta with lomito which was so good. I don't know what that sauce is but yummmmy! Four of us walked in to a very clean and cozy restaurant. We perused the menu and then asked the waiter to bring the top five dishes. We were so happy, nothing disappointed. Everything came out of the kitchen looking beautiful, tasting amazing, and the portions were beyond generous. Four hungry people could not even finish. Highland Park has evolved into a gentrification hotspot of hipsters, foodies etc with numerous restaurants scoring well. Rosty is a Peruvian restaurant which we decided to go to when we checked our unrevealing fridge on a Friday evening. The place was welcoming, super-friendly, and most of the food arrived at the correct table. Not expecting such big portions, we not only gave too much space to the delicious fresh and warm bread, but in addition to the main dishes (saltado de pollo and pescado alo macho) also ordered some yucca fries, and platano frito. That was a forgivable mistake but was worth it. If you're looking for delicious authentic Peruvian food, Rosty is it! Although a little on the pricey side, it's worth it! They are doing take out during the pandemic and very generous with their salsa. YUM. The service is attentive and quick too. I've never had Peruvian food before so I wasn't sure what to expect. We had a reservation, which was a good thing. The restaurant isn't that big and we had a group of more than 15 people. Since we had a large group, they allowed us to split into two groups, each paying on their own. Lomo Saltado: A pretty simple dish with just rice, beef, fries, tomatoes and onions. But it packed a lot of flavor. I kept soaking the rice with the excess sauce. The beef was tender and the onions crispy. The fries got pretty soggy at the end though. It was a lot of food for me and I definitely could've shared the dish with another person. The green spicy sauce they have at the table went really well with the beef. Pretty good and I'd be willing to come back to try their other dishes. read more

I loved coming here and it had a nice vibe. The food is always good too. However, this time around the music was way too loud to really enjoy their great food. They tried changing their atmosphere but it will drive away the regular customers. Hope they consider that not everyone likes to eat with music so loud that we have to yell to speak to our guest. read more

I came in here after hearing about this place on Yelp. Peruvian food is one of my favorite kinds of food and much of the time I crave this when I'm hungry. I ordered the Lomo Saltado and it was amazing! The staff brought out some different sauces for me to try and I loved every one of them. Definitely one of the best Peruvian in Los Angeles! bad experience! i called in my order (anticuchos asados skewers) with 3 orders of bread. i got back boiled anticuchos, and raw bread. almost dough. i called and talked to cesar, he was full of excuses. i asked to speak to the manager and asked for the manager's name, cesar said he could not give me the managers name nor talk to him. that he would contact the manager and explain the problem. he called me 10 minutes later to tell me i had a 15% discount on my next visit. they just lost a customer, and gained a negative/truthful review. he also hung the phone as in he does not want to hear it anymore. huge dissapointment! never again will i go there read more

Rosty is located in the Highland Park area of Los Angeles. This areas historically was Hispanic for decades and now has morphed into a more hipster neighborhood. So now let's talk about Rosty. It's a small neighborhood restaurant that has indoor seating. The staff were very friendly, although the service seemed to be slightly slower than I am accustomed to. The food was pretty good once it was served to us. I ordered the pollo saltado and the ceviche classico. Both were very delicious and tasted freshly made. The ceviche was the definite star of the two. It has seafood as well as Indian corn, which gave the dish a slightly sweet taste. I would definitely recommend you try it! read more

Everyone who eats oysters knows they should be ice cold or served on top of ice. The ambiance outside wasn't the best, it was a super hot day and there's only outdoor seating. The house located right text door was having some hard work done as well and lots of dust was being blown directly into the area we were sitting. The service it self wasn't too bad, they had out food ready pretty fast but for the price we paid, the experience could have been better.

Killed conversation, Killed the vibe. And if was coursed properly we probably would have ordered another bottle of wine. So it Killed the bill and the tip too. It wasn't busy at all on a Saturday night, so it's not like the kitchen was slammed and accidentally pushed everything quickly. The oysters came out last, and we never got the focaccia, nuff said. We didn't bother complaining. We didn't want to be difficult and we aren't looking for a freebee. But at that price point they should know how to course a meal. Sad, but I don't think this restaurant will be here in 6 months. So go now if you have been wanting to try it.

Stumbled upon this hidden gem in Highland Park while walking through the neighborhood. Decided to venture in with my mom - first impression: a touch rustic, and it screams "cozy nighttime hangout." Our server deserves a medal for patiently answering my 10-question interrogation . They kick things off with some fancy toasted pan Frances and three sauces: aji verde, aji amarillo, and aji blanco ( which is a mix of queso and mayonnaise). My taste buds high-fived the verde and blanco, seriously delicious! Went for lomo saltado and ceviche, accompanied by a side of fried plantains. Tasty, but someone went a bit wild with the salt shaker, especially on the lomo saltado rice. Not a fan of their fancy plastic blue cups for water and the whole plastic-to-go-jazz for the sauces. If I'm dropping almost $30 on a plate, I want elegance, not a plastic fiesta. Decent spot, but the price tag seems to have mistaken itself for a Michelin-star experience. read more

I ordered the "la Copa", which is basically a huge goblet of delicious ceviche that's topped off with fried calamari and includes several small delicious corn snacks. My boyfriend ordered the fried rice with chicken, which was really tender, moist, and sizeable. We got the chicha morada and limonada for drinks, plus a side salad and side of plantains. All for about $60 ... and we have plenty of leftovers for at least one other full meal. Will come here again and try the other dishes (the lomo saltado looks great). So so so good! My son, his girlfriend and I walked to this new neighborhood restaurant to leave so full, content and pleased. We shared the platter for two with fried fish, mussels, calamari and red onions. It was perfectly fried; light, not greasy and golden, delicious, and huge portions-along with the 3 sauces we almost couldn't eat anymore. But being the troopers that we are we "forced" ourselves to order the tamales, one pork one chicken....amazing. Benny, the owner constantly touched our table with kind words and made sure we were ok. Cute setting, well lit and friendly staff. We will be back for sure. So many dishes we want to try. This place is a downright gem. Beyond my wildest expectations. All of the food was exceptional. Cheap prices, friendly staff. When you walk in you feel like you are in another country. I'm not pleased with this restaurant. Came across it on my home way and decided to dine out there with my friend. Firstly we waited so long in line to get a seat and couldn't go to another place as we appreciated our spent on waiting. As soon as we seated ourselves, it took servers 20 minutes to bring menu and extra 10 minutes for food. After having brought the order, the dish was tasteless. I had an awful experience at Rosty in Highland Park. The chicken I ordered was undercooked and still pink in the middle--completely unacceptable. The restaurant itself was dirty, with trash and sticky surfaces all around. We tried to bring up our concerns to the staff, but they were unresponsive and didn't offer any solutions. When we complained, they refused to take it back or remove it from the bill, which was incredibly disappointing. On top of that, the bathroom was absolutely disgusting--clearly not maintained. Powered by three beautiful heart warming ladies who work their ass off to cook up what I believe is a quality meal at a very affordable price without skimping on the quality. Everyone working there is genuine. From the moment you walk up you are greeted with smiles, a welcoming hello, and sounds of sizzling fresh food being made to order. It sits right across the street from Moos Craft Barbecue and Tiera Mia coffee on Broadway in Lincoln heights. I found this place through yelp after an exhaustive search attempting to find something healthy, fresh, and made with love that my stomach can trust. While also fitting the price point I would prefer to pay for daily/weekly purchases - when I don't feel like cooking twice in one day. All I can say is. It's well worth, not only the money but your time, tastebuds and health! Their menu is set up very cleanly, they have a kiosk that doesn't confuse you and they have mix and match options that center around their base of veggies. Featuring Shanghai Bok choy, baby bok choy, and mustard greens, and or egg noodle if you are looking for a carb. I typically select the Shanghai bok choy to which the owner owns a farm for which is where they source the ingredients. You can choose a large size for 12 or regular size for 10 and you can always split the order with one of their other meat selection such as rib eye, pork loin, chicken, and short rib. All served with a house made sauce that I can't really describe in any other way than some kind of clean light butter sauce that adds a nice warmth and savory umami flavor. (Not saying it is butter though) I cannot speak on the red meats but as far as the tofu and the chicken they are cooked very well. Loads of flavor. Never dry. The ingredients are fresh. The bok choy comes out crunchy and piping hot like it's been have cooked in a wok which you can hear it has been l. And it's cooked to perfection. And the tofu is wonderfully silky and smooth. Sprinkled with sesame. It's one of those local shops that I feel makes the local neighborhood stronger simply because it is providing what 90 percent of establishments do not. Which is healthy food! I have not been to Dune before, but the value of the lunch special along with the promise of a fried chicken shawarma, coupled with unexpected free time, sounded like a promising moment to stop by. Walked up to the window and after no acknowledgement, I peaked inside the door and asked whether I place an order at the counter or wait to be seated. When I tell you the jarring elder Gen Z stare and incredibly unfriendly direction to sit on the bench and wait my turn (in the literal sense that I was told to sit on the bench and wait my turn. There was only a party of 2 seated at the bench and no line to speak of) made me regret coming out to eat entirely. I'm not lying when I say I thought about leaving immediately and driving home in my air conditioned car instead of sitting on a hot bench in nearly 100 degree weather with no acknowledgement of party size, no offer for a drink or water while I wait, and just existing in my bizarre humiliation ritual for having asked what the procedure is here for any kind of recognition of my interest in dining or simply existing. And yes, after sitting down I saw there is a small low contrast sign on a post stating to sit on the bench and wait, but it is positioned parallel to the counter window and only when turning away from the glass toward the seating area was it placed in a way that I would see it. Not very useful for someone who is walking up or down the sidewalk as it's not visible. I held my breath for about 10 minutes before being asked my party size (one) and seated at a shaded table. I regretted my choice to dine out the entire wait time for the table, while ordering and then being required to pay upfront before my meal was even presented to me, while seated awaiting my order, while my food (loaded fries, fried chicken shawarma, date shake and an added unsweetened iced green mint tea) was dumped at once on the table in front of me, while eating feeling humiliated for existing inside human skin, and again when having to walk to the window and ask for a to-go box. I felt like a massive inconvenience for the staff and fully regretted bothering them every step of the way for normal things like a Dine LA menu which was not initially offered, adding an iced tea to my order, existing in a metal folding chair and generally taking up space. I don't like being treated like a turd by people, and certainly don't want to be treated this way when I'm paying for a service. But after the initial flubbed interactions, demanding payment with tip upfront before receiving any kind of service was rendered, and then dumping my food at the table without ceremony, it's truly no wonder why the LA restaurant scene is dying. Between poorly trained staff, rising costs in rent and utilities, the outrageous cost of staffing and the fact that eating at a restaurant is completely unnecessary when cutting household expenses, restaurants are disappearing left and right. Some of the foods I still dream about are lost forever to closure after closure. Customers being treated like they're inconsequential isn't the only reason people like me usually choose to dine at home, and it's not the only reason restaurants are disappearing. But it's one of the only controllable elements in a world of runaway hospitality expenses. Customers deserve even a modicum of respect if restaurants are going to survive. $48 for the meal including tax and tip. More than enough food for lunch, I took home half. Loaded steak fries / wish they were served with a whipped feta or dipping sauce instead of ketchup but they're good. Generous portion of steak. 9/10 Fried chicken shawarma / fun idea, execution made it difficult to pick up to eat. Serving in a metal basket made it impossible to cut in half since there was not a solid surface to cut against. Flavor is yummy, wish those middle eastern flavors were more prominent in the batter but the chicken is extra crispy. Enjoyable. 8/10 Date shake / luxurious, creamy, flavorful. It wasn't bad, just a little slow and not very attentive. The food definitely made up for it though, and I'd still come back. If you're looking for good Peruvian food in Eagle Rock, this place is worth checking out.

We ordered: rotisserie chicken fried yucca lomo saltado with pasta I've been looking for a place that serviced polla a la brasa, and I found it! There used to be a place in Glendale, but they stopped serving it. The chicken was super flavorful, and lots of portions too. The lomo saltado was also a good portion too. We were eating leftovers for days! The yucca frita was tasty too. Next time I feel like Doordash, I'm going to remember this place!
