They have a pretty large take out business, so while every table inside was taken, there was a constant line at the counter of to go orders. They serve complimentary bread with a side of butter and provide an array of sauces when you first sit down to go with whatever it is you end up ordering. My husband ordered the Arroz Chaufa de Pollo which is their house specialty fried rice. I'm not sure what spices they put in it but it was outstanding. The meat was tender, the egg and scallions paired well with the chicken and nicely seasoned rice. It wasn't heavy or greasy whatsoever and he ate the entire meal. I ordered the wood fired rotisserie chicken which comes in different sizes with two sides. You can get all dark meat, all white meat or a mix of both. I chose 1/4 dark which is where the flavor is at and chose a side salad and their fried plantains to go with my meal. The bread was delicious it was like it just came out of the oven perfectly toasted with butter it was amazing. We ordered the lomo saltado and it was delicious. It's steak crispy and salted on top of a bed of steak fries with a side of rice. They gave us 3 different sauces whatever the white sauce was delicious the green was a bit spicy for my taste but still good. The staff care. They were very attentive to our table and it mattered to them whether we liked our food or not. Maracuya drink was very good. We took the recommendation of our server for the lomo saltado but it was very saltado. Dish is pretty clunky, awkward sized chunks of parcooked tomatoes and onions, the tenderloin wasn't very tender, and the rice's main purpose was to escape the saltiness of everything. The aji verde sauce was spicy and delicious and came with free bread before the meal. I liked the Lomo Saltado but the meat was a bit tough. The flavor was great though. I also got the Ceviche Mixto which was tasty and fresh. It came with both crunchy and soft corn nuts. Prices were $24/$25 for each of these dishes. Not cheap but not outrageous. I think if the portions were slightly bigger and/or they didnt serve so many sides and sauces in plastic it would be more worthwhile. Parking in Highland Park is terrible. Also note that there's no alcohol served here. Overall its a decent place. I would give it a 3.5 but landed at 3, since its not quite a 4 for me. read more

I can't rave enough about the ceviche (we ordered classico which was white fish). Was so fresh and delicious! Me and my family came here for mother's day, we were so happy to be able to find a restaurant not super crowded with excellent food. The four of us were sat down immediately and the waitress came and took our orders soon after. The waitress we had was visibly overwhelmed by the afternoon rush but held her friendly and professional demeanor. For appetizers we got the mixed ceviche with a mild spicy level. We had the Lomo Saltado all round. I didn't know this but you can get this mixed with chicken and shrimp. The rice and fries on this plate really sell it. We had plenty of the juices on the menu, I had the large lemonade and it was huge! Overall, amazing Peruvian food and good choice to dine in. The menu itself is very diverse and offers so much more. You can never go wrong with these Limonada & Chicha Morada: 10/10 (both are very refreshing) Tallarin saltado de carne: 6.5/10 (my friend wasn't a huge fan and said it wasn't worth the $20, most of the plate was mostly pasta) Picante de Cameron: 7/10 (good tasting cream, but there was maybe 5 shrimps at most, again wasn't worth with the price) Would I come back? All dishes came with ahi verde (so good). The yuca was ok but the huancaina sauce was really good & creamy. Overall the ceviche was one of the best I've had. The meat for the seco was so tender and juicy and full of flavor. It went perfectly with the rice, beans & salsa de cebolla (so good), if you know, you know! Lastly the customer service was great. The gentleman in the front had a great personality and was very welcoming and attentive. Don't let the location and lack of signage discourage you from going. It's definitely a little gem. read more

Rosty is at the edge of the lively stretch of Highland Park's Figueroa St. Peruvian food is one of the earliest fusion cuisines deftly connecting flavors across the Pacific and beyond, so it's always spoken to me. They are executing things really well, so I'll keep returning to try their ceviche, beef heart, and lomo saltado. Quarter Pollo a la Brasa: When I ordered the quarter rotisserie chicken I think I neglected to specify dark meat. So, when they brought a plate of white meat I was sort of disappointed to be honest. However, there was no need to worry. The chicken was juicy and at the correct intersection of tender, which is to say just a touch soft. I also love chicken skin, so again was really happy to see a nicely seasoned skin. I also decimated the green (cilantro based and mildly spicy aji verde) sauce and the yellow sauce (cheese like aji amarillo). The closer I got to the bones the more noticeable the wood smoke. It almost tasted like Southern dry rub BBQ with South American spices. The rice and Peruvian beans were also really comforting. I'll be back for the dark. Aji de Gallina: I was actually here a couple days before and I ordered this hearty plate of shredded chicken, olive, potatoes, hard boiled egg, and rice. It's topped with a yellow aji and walnut sauce. It's a nice dish, but there's not enough variety in flavor for my taste. That was my first time trying papas a la huancaina. I was immediately in love.
