We had lunch here yesterday and, while I wasn't overwhelmed, my experience was good overall. We sat outside on a beautiful day, but the tables seem to be really close together. I found out all about the personal lives of the Housewives of Roswell during my visit. Anyway, that's Canton St. It was a drinking lunch, but they hadn't tapped their Road Trip yet. I wouldn't normally mention it, but the waiter sorta led with, "yeah, we only have that on tap." If you know anything about me, let it be that I LOVE Road Trip when it's available. They were also out of the Saw Tooth my girlfriend ordered. The food was pretty good; we went with the cajun nachos (housemade potato chips with cajun ranch, bacon, blue cheese crumbles and fried jalapeno chips), fried green tomatoes and a Roux salad (field greens, feta, tomatoes, onions, peppers and balsamic vinaigrette). Seating is semi tight but had enough arm room at the table. Ordered one of their specialty drinks, Moscow Mule, and wasn't overly impressed with it (the one I wanted, Old Roswell, was not available bc they didn't have the slow and low whiskey). The Dip appetizer was pretty good but was hoping it to be spicier for a Cajun style restaurant. The menu has a lot of traditional Creole favorites (crawfish, gumbo, Po'boys, jambalaya) along with a bunch of sandwiches. My friends and I came to Roux on Canton for lunch after a weekend run. We were hungry, tired, and parched. I ordered the gumbo along with the salmon sandwich, which one of my friends orders almost every time she goes there. The gumbo was quite tasty - good consistency with tasty chunks of chicken and sausage mixed in. You can order the gumbo in different sizes. The salmon sandwich was also delicious - there was a little sweetness from the glaze put on the salmon and a decent amount of seasoning. It was served on the same bread as the Po'boys and had a yummy horseradish cream sauce. I mentioned that we were very thirsty to point out the great service here. We were so thirsty from our run that we were finishing our waters practically as soon as they were brought out. Once the waiter realized how thirsty we were, he was efficient to the point that our cups would be filled without us noticing or needing to ask. Roux, where have you been all my life? Ordered the crab dip and the fried chicken and begneits for brunch. Absolutely delicious. We sat outside on a beautiful Sunday morning and the food was sublime! My wife ordered the shrimp and grits and we took some begneits to go. We will be back in a few days to try the rest of the menu. Service was excellent. They even brought out extra crisps for our crab dip when they saw we were running low. You can tell that everyone around us was enjoying their meal and having fun watching everyone's plates arrive table side. Why would you put a sign saying it's "complimentary valet parking" if being a customer at the plaza behind the place you're eating at is "not included" in that service?? The guy on the podium said that they charge $5 for those that aren't included--so we're like, okay. We took it because, you know what, I was hangry. We got seated right after we asked for a table and it was pretty busy, given that it was already 8pm. The place was a bit cramped, loud like most bars, but casual and gave me that NOLA vibe. The menu was simple and easy to navigate. I got the shrimp po boi and my boyfriend got the country fried chicken. I expected this po boy to be flavorful and one of those foods that I will remember--I, for sure, will remember it as a disappointment. It was dry. The bread had no crunch to it. The spread only covered half of half the bread (if that makes sense) and was accompanied by two tomato slices and a sad leaf of lettuce(??). Given that they represent Cajun/Creole food in Downtown Roswell, I need that po boy to be better. It lacks that southern touch. Maybe the other food they serve is good, like the chicken my boyfriend had, but c'mon, I could have made that po boy at home. Good thing I signed up for their newsletter and got free beignets. Okay--those were definitely cooked to order. I was pleased. So I'm giving this place a second chance, but for now, I'm giving it a three. We had been meaning to try Roux for over a year and I'm glad we finally did! The menu - though it covers a lot of flavors - delivers. The chicken on my sandwich was fried perfectly and the bun complimented it as well. It gets packed on Saturday afternoons, FYI! Came here as apart of a UYE. The restaurant is located in Downtown Roswell off Canton Street amongst many shoppes and restaurants. If you've ever traveled down this street, you'll know there's limited street parking but there are parking lots in the area to park in for a fee. When we got there, it was about 30-40 minute wait but luckily the hostess told us there's open seating at the bar which was perfect since there were only 3 people in our party. The restaurant is a bit small which its to be expected because of the location being on a high traffic street. They have a great selection of beers and liquors. I was tempted to order a cider but decided to wait later in the day since I was attending a beer festival. The menu is Cajun inspired and I love Cajun food so I had my heart set on trying the Po Boy. I ended up switching my order based on other Yelpers who mentioned the sandwich had too much bread. I was too hungry to take a chance so I got the buffalo shrimp tacos. Fellow Yelper, Vi P., ordered a round of hush puppies as an appetizer. They were ok. Our orders came quickly, under 20 minutes, and our bartender made sure to check on us periodically. The tacos were amazingly good. Plenty of shrimp, buffalo sauce and bleu cheese between the two. I also should mention that it only comes with two tacos but it's more than enough. I struggled to eat the second. After we were done stuffing our faces, we had to try the beignets. I wasn't sure when I'd be back so I wanted to get the full Roux experience. To get a free beignet, just post a picture on any social media platform. We each ordered one but the cooks ended up giving us one extra! The beignet is good. Not Cafe Du Monde good but good. This was my first time here thanks to A fellow yelper (Tuong Vi P). My son and I visited this establishment for lunch Saturday. Since I had my son with me so I could not sit at the bar with the other yelpers so we sat outside which was pretty cool. I really enjoyed sitting on the outside patio since it was such a beautiful day. We ordered "The Dip" appetizer, which is a creamy spinach, cheese, and artichoke dip. The dip was soooooo good that I ordered one to take home. I also had the shrimp Po Boy with French fries and my son had a cheeseburger with French fries. After eating the appetizer, I was so full but I took two bites of my Po Boy which was good. My son tried to tackle his cheeseburger but I think he was pretty full as well. I've frequented Roux on a number of occasions and they consistently deliver a great product. Their deviled eggs are a home run, the gumbo is solid offering, all of their burgers are spot on and the meatloaf is rather delicious as well. And if you're in the mood for fresh oysters, well there you go. They always have oysters on the shell usually out of Virginia. As far as their tap beers go, they have the best selection of craft beers on tap in the downtown Roswell area. They have 10 taps and are constantly rotating them every few days. They delivered the Oskar Blues Ten Fidy on tap and you don't see that on tap too often. The bar staff is friendly and engaging, so you can count on Roux for a wonderful dining experience. Roux on Canton had a few tables outside, so we decided to dine here. For my starter, I chose the Pimento Cheese Fritters. I highly recommend this starter. It tastes great and is a good portion size. Not to mention, it is served with toasted pita chips too. For my entree, I tried the Gouda burger and it did not disappoint. This burger was topped with bacon, smoked Gouda, smashed avocado, lettuce, tomato, & sun-dried tomato aioli. For my side, I chose the fries. The burger is huge and served with a heaping amount of smashed avocado and bacon. The Gouda cheese pairs well with sun-dried tomato aioli. The fries were crispy and seasoned well.
