Food is good. Don't be mistaken. However - Carmen is the most rude server on the planet. Not sure what the issue was, however, we will not be back. Ever. The competition in Downtown Roswell is too stiff to have to deal with a disgruntled career server. What a shame. I will tell all of my friends and co-workers. Meredith was the rudest waitress I have ever encountered, we had a group of 9 and I understand that that can be complicated for a small restaurant such as Roux but she was extremely ornery and reached over our table invading our personal space. I enjoyed the restaurant but the staff (especially Meredith) should have better training for larger groups. read more

Good food, great atmosphere, and the right amount of guys and girls. The vegetable flatbread was great! We had apps and alcohol, but this was enough for my group. The apps are big enough to be a main course substitution. Go with a group! read more

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE this place. My husband and I visited one day after a hard days work. Staff was VERY pleasant, especially bartender. Shrimp Po Boy, fried green tomatoes and dessert were GREAT! My husband and I want their today for lunch. The food was ok my favorite thing was their gumbo. We shared their steamed muscle and I hated it. It had no flavor we could not finished it so we put that aside. I had the jambalaya it needed some hot sauce I think I put hot sauce on pretty much everything except for their dessert. My husband had their shrimp and grits he said it was ok the best part was the shrimp. Will I go their again probably not but I will send my husband to pick up their gumbo to go. The service was good its a small and cramp restaurant but I liked that. We ate outside mostly because I enjoy people watching. read more

My husband and I had lunch here the other day and LOVED it. We ordered the pretzel and fried green tomatoes for our appetizers and both were great. For my entree I got the chicken salad croissant with sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries were especially good! We will definitely be returning to Roux to dine again. It's a small place, so I can see why it gets so crowded in the evenings and on weekends. Only complaint was the table we were seated at was a bit small and we had a hard time shuffling around our dishes and making room as our food came out. Other than that it was outstanding! read more

I love Roswell, plain and simple. Whenever I'm in the Atlanta area, I try to spend some time there. There is a plethora of restaurants and shops and this time I tried Roux on Canton. It was St. Patrick's Day and the little historical shopping area was closed off for festivities and the restaurants were crowded, but the service was still excellent. I had some difficulty making a decision on what to order since there were so many enticing choices on the menu, but chose the Buffalo Chicken Tacos and they were amazing! I'd highly recommend it if you're in Roswell. read more

Delicious. Everything we ordered had combinations of flavors that were well thought out, all perfectly balanced, which the cocktail especially exemplified. The fried okra/jalapeños/pickles appetizer was tasty, though the okra stole the show. The fried chicken was the best we've had in a long time, and the mashed potatoes were the wonderful chunky kind that no one makes anymore, mixed with cheese and flavorful chicken gravy. Yuuummmy! Recently moved to Roswell and checking out all the restaurants on Canton St. Had the Cuban sandwich which was delicious! My hubby had the fried chicken sandwich which was perfection! Side dishes: cheddar grits creamy and delicious, red beans and rice which are perfectly spicy with andouille sausage, and some fried pickles to top it off. Lightly breaded with a tempura-like batter. Everything tastes very fresh! Staff very friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back! read more

One of the best restaurants on Canton Street! Service is great and the food is EXCELLENT! Even on the busiest night they're service is above average! Waiters are friendly. If you're looking for something to start with, The Dip is a must! I definitely recommend the chicken wrap during lunch time and Salmon tacos! Stumbled on this place today with my fiancé on a Saturday afternoon. It wasn't too busy and we got a table right away. Definitely has that New Orleans feel and the outside seating was cute. We decided to sit inside at one of the high tops. We waited for about 15 minutes before we had to ask who our server was. The two tables that were seated after us received their drinks and appetizers before we were greeted by our server, who seem annoyed. We explained that we had been waiting for 15 minutes and she said no one told her she had a table (even though she has been serving the 2 tables right next to us). She pretty much brushed off our concern and asked if we were ready to place our drink orders and order our food. We did. I ordered the Salmon sandwich with BBQ chips and my fiancé ordered the shrimp and grits. He enjoyed his food although he said the shrimp was a little overcooked. My salmon was undercooked and had entirely too much horseradish sauce on the bun. I took two bites and couldn't get through the rest. The server check on us after we received our food (from another server who was super nice) but still had a very dense attitude. To be honest, I probably would have enjoyed the place a lot better had it not been for her. I did look around for a Manager but did not see him/her. Definitely put a bad taste in my mouth and I probably won't be back, which is sad because I check on Yelp, and the place has really good reviews. read more

SO disappointed! Went there for lunch today and could not believe how small the portion of Crawfish Etouffee was for $13! Seriously?! I'm guessing there was MAYBE 3/4 cups in that bowl? We had to leave there and go buy lunch somewhere else! There was no bread, nothing extra, I even had to ask for sweetener (stored by the bar) and he brought three packets for the two of us. Yes, but how was the flavor? Glad you asked ... Let's put it this way, Captain D's has a pint of gumbo for $3 that tastes as good as that $13 Etouffee!! No, we won't be going back. Oh! Ded gum, talk about some good meatloaf, mashed taters with gravy, mac n cheese, fried okry battered and fried to perfection....WOO! But seriously, everything I had was excellent and the three people with me said the same for their meals. Probably the first time in my life I preferred my meatloaf without ketchup. Arrived at about 6 PM for an early dinner by myself as I had to get to the airport. I was greeted nicely by the hostess and surprised to see that the place was fairly busy since it was only 6:00. Thought it was nice of the hostess to ask if a hi-top table would be okay rather than just taking me there. Once seated, I observed how very busy all the servers were and prepared myself for some slow service. Was I ever wrong. My server (Eben) soon arrived with a large glass of ice water in hand and quickly took my order. I started with a bowl of classic gumbo (shown on the menu as Gumbo File). The bowl was huge, the largest bowl of gumbo that I ever had anywhere and it was quite delicious. I could have followed that with dessert and been more than satisfied. But, I had already ordered a combination fried shrimp/fried oyster Po Boy and couldn't let that go to waste. Eben soon brought out my Po Boy with a side of sweet potato fries. The sandwich was so big, I had to give serious thought as to how I would pick it up. Somehow or another I managed and it too was delicious as were the fries. Interestingly, after I had started eating each course, Eben came over to ask if all was good and without me asking, he brought a 2nd glass of iced tea (rather than just a refill). I wanted a quick dinner and got it. Food was great, service was great and I will be back......soon! read more

Terrible service followed by terrible food. We were greeted by a rude host who seemed bothered that we had arrived. Took 10 minutes to be greeted by server then an additional 10 minutes before receiving our drinks (just soda so no need to wait in the bar). Food took forever and when it reached our table it was cold and soggy. My fish tacos had very little fish and a huge serving of watery slaw. My dates burger was raw and cold in the middle when he ordered a medium well cook. Server said they were in the process of changing the menu and the translation between the kitchen, wait, and management staff had been discombobulated. I've worked in restaurants my whole life so I understand that issues happen but having issues from start to finish is unacceptable. Also the price that was on the menu did not match the price in the check. I was charged $11 for the taco and $4 additionally for the fish when the menu clearly stated fish tacos were $11. I had higher hopes for this experience. read more

Not good. The gumbo was actually served like a side dish in a plate. Yes, on a plate! It was a lump of something completely unrecognizable to me as anything close to what I've had of gumbo. I have family in Louisiana and lived two years in SE Texas on the Louisiana border and spent much time with family and in numerous restaurants there. I've had amazing gumbo and I've had mediocre gumbo. But this?....Believe me! This is NOT gumbo! read more

Ugh...This was my second try at Roux tonight and it was just bad, bad bad. I really wanted to like this place, even love it. As a native Louisiana girl, when I saw a new place called Roux, I got very excited but it sadly not only fails to live up to its name, but it doesn't even deserve to be named Roux. The time there, I tried the gumbo and so did my 7 year old. I make Gumbo often and he loves it. It was literally SO bad, it was inedible, and laughable because it was clear the Gumbo was not even "roux: based. Gelatenus Muck. Tonight I ordered the fried gator, ewe...chewy and fatty not like any other I've had, plus the batter is tasteless. - didn't eat it. Then I had the fried crawfish po-boy and it was just nasty as well. Bland crawfish in nasty batter. This place is just garbage. The only thing good about it is all the hot straight male waitstaff that seems to proliferate this place. Nice eye candy but not enough to make me spend another dime here. read more

An unexpected pleasure. I went with friends to this establishment. A nice menu with great beer choice. A rustic interior. Great service and tasty food.got the Cajun stuffed peppers. Very good. On my second visit to Roux, I ordered the PEI Pasta. It actually tasted good and I enjoyed my drink as well. Unfortunately, there was an issue with the mussels and I got terrible food poisoning. I won't go into detail but it ruined my weekend and my appetite for seafood. My boyfriend tried calling the restaurant to let them know in hopes no one else would get sick. We were told the manager would call us back but he never did. We won't be returning to Roux on Canton. read more

Roux is probably my favorite restaurant and I want to give it 5 stars, however you have to be really careful who you get as a server. Our last experience was a late birthday celebration for me. The food was wonderful, as always and the environment was a bit loud, but that's to be expected on a Friday night! The hostess was very welcoming and sat us immediately, despite the fact that larger groups seemed to have a wait. Our server was pleasant, at first... We had a large appetizer to share and oysters. Then we had an entree each (I had an extra side) in addition to two signature cocktails per person - one was not served in the correct glass but it was no big deal. As we enjoyed our meal, our server became increasingly irritated - I don't know if she was just having a bad night or what. Our food runner/buser visited the table more often than our server and was extremely prompt when we needed something. Our server eventually came over to drop the check off at our table when we didn't even ask for it and she just stood there, waiting. We looked it over since she was just standing there and had a question about one price as we were legitimately confused and she was extremely snappy, even raising her voice much more than was necessary. Given it was a late birthday celebration, I might have wanted to order dessert but after her reaction to a simple question I just wanted to leave. I will be back, but I wish Roux would be more careful about the servers they hire as some can ruin your experience! Hopefully, they'll promote our runner/buser to server very soon so we can request to sit in his section! I sincerely hope he received some of the tip we left. read more
