Not in the mood to deal with getting way overcharged by the dealership, I searched Yelp and found this repair shop. My first conversation with Matt was lengthy and detailed and made me feel extremely comfortable. I brought my 2008 Range Rover Sport in for a couple small issues and it got diagnosed on the spot. They provided me with a detailed work order and the prices were just right. They even got me a rental car from Hertz, which is right across the parking lot. Outstanding customer service! Hands down the Best Land Rover Repair shop in the country! - Had car towed in from freeway $350 tow from near san diego. - First thing they did was put gas in it cause the dumb owner (ME) let it run way too low.... - it started at this point! Ran disgnostic checked out the Range and advised me fuel pump is Going Out could be today could be two weeks but it was started, so they left the decision to me NO PRESSURES!!! - I decided to wait and see what Happens! THEY DIDNT CHARGE ME ANYTHING!!! - They're attitude is Happy they love what they Do, and it gives you big sense of relief to know worse case scenario your in Good Honest Reliable Hands....... -2 Days later ----- Back on the tow truck back to Rover Doctor the fuel pump failed completely! - ROVER DOCTOR!! repaired it the same day - they are Very reasonably priced! Rover riders know rover parts are just expensive cant get around that. -Also used another hour or so labor time to just tighten up a few other things on my Rover! And didnt even mention it, shared alot of Rover Knowledge and information, learned alot while i was there!! GUYS ARE GREAT! I would highly recommend the Rover Doctor for several reasons. They are straight shooters and know there business well! When I called with my issue they knew right away what was wrong quoted me over the phone and I was in and out within hours! It is so refreshing to work with people that have integrity and are pros without the attitude. I was treated with respect and kindness and they have now become my default garage. 0 out of 5. When I dropped off my RR, the owner said " we start with $65 for diagnosis" implying be prepared more charges are coming, get ready !!!!!!. The day after, he called me and told me what needs to be done and the cost of the repair. He also said "I do not guarantee if the car is fixed after what I do". When I asked "what kind of diagnosis is that?" he said " I cannot do more because my equipment could be damaged" !!!!!!!!!!. I decided not have him to work on my car. He keep the car key when tow truck towed my RR to another repair shop. He demanded $65 for his incomplete diagnosis. When I went to get car key they started being nasty and one of the staff ( very tall , almost 7 ft. with shaved head ) told me "you F****ing foreigner , I can take off my uniform and take care of you right here". He added "I love this country you F***ing foreigners are threatening us . we will take care of you. You will see that". I told him " I am not threatening any one just want the keys for my car and will pay for the incomplete diagnosis. He replied, you F****ing Muslims ( even though I'm not Muslim) come to this country and exploit this country, we will be taking care of you all in the future". Worst thing was the owners were supporting what he said. I told him I love this country more than you do because I never judge others based on their look and where they come from. That is not what this country stands for. Tried to convey to him the fact that this is my country too and I have lived here around 30 years. This country is my home. With no luck, tried to tell him a good patriotic American is not the bigot with racist attitude but the one who tolerates all cultures and religions and deals with all people , no matter from what race, culture and religion, equally. read more

The absolute best service I have ever had on any car. Took in my 2004 Range Rover after having another shop (in Fountain Valley with Dr. in their name) quote extremely high for needed repairs and even said I needed repairs that I did not need done. Brad and Matt at Rover Doctor explained everything that needed to be done and exactly why it needed to be done and at a much better price. When I came in to pick up the car, Matt brought out some of the old parts to show and explain the reason for the repair, and took me for a test drive as well to make sure I was happy. I appreciated the honesty and transparency of this business. I took my car for the first time, and I really appreciated how they treated me as their client. They are very friendly and respectful. Both technicians, Matt and Charles, are incredibly knowable and they take their time explaining the problems and possible future issues that can occur. The owner is extremely helpful as well. He researched some literature regarding different warranties from the internet and printed out for me (it was 25 pages). Their price is very fair, and they do not try to sell additional services AT ALL. The garage is spotless and organized. At any time you can look up, and your car is 50 feet away. I really appreciate being able to be next to my car in case I need to explain something to them. I gained more knowledge by just talking with Matt and Chares for 30 minutes than researching on the internet for days. I have not yet brought my vehicle in to Rover Doctor so this review is of my first phone conversation with Rover Dr. Charles. I try to be a DIY as often as possible but get stuck from time to time and either need advice or to bring my vehicle in for repair. Dr. Charles sincerely responded to my questions in order to help me expressing ZERO ego and none of the "i can't tell over the phone, just bring it in" b.s, mentality. Dr. Charles knew what I was asking about and gave me clear direct answers to address my issue. This is quite rare and speaks volumes about the honesty and integrity of this establishment. They are 75 miles away from me but if my Rover needed professional and ethical repairs this is the shop I would bring it to [ I have free 100 mile towing with my AAA so that would be no sweat] All the best and I hope I never have to see you guys.....but if I do I'll look forward to it : ) read more

First went to Land Rover Newport Beach. Been servicing both my Jaguar and Rand Rover there for a few years. Always mediocre service, WAY overpriced. Actual quote from Land Rover Newport Beach: Front pads and Rotors $1,494, brake fluid $163, throttle body $181. $1,838. Went to Rover Doctor instead. Way easier to get an appointment and way better service (owner even gave me a ride to work). Total bill from Rover Doctor, everything included was $751 (exact same service and parts). Rover Doctor is an honest business, they won't recommend services you don't need, great service and great value !!! They will be getting all of my future Range Rover services. read more

People tend to always report the bad & rarely the good, so thought it might be helpful to some to hear a touch of each. Have brought three Land Rover vehicles to Rover Doctor over a number of years, and can attest that although (like every service outfit & especially the dealers - I'm talking to you Land Rover Newport Beach & Mission Viejo!) there are always small oversights at times or finger prints that don't get cleaned up, etc. --- I have had consistently better experiences from Rover Doctor than either of the major OC dealer's and a couple of the larger independents. Add to that, far better pricing and the real deal breaker for me ... getting it right the first time, or no more than by the second if it's a trickier item. Background, I have had a consistent dealer experience from the two dealerships mentioned above of an average of 3-6 visits per problem to actually correctly resolve (on all three vehicles during their warranty periods, and a little out of warranty work on the first before I found Rover Doctor). Rover Doctor on their most overloaded worst day exceeds that record substantially. Equally, I have tried a couple of the other independent's in the area including a couple well known whose names I will omit to not throw too much mud in one posting, and unlike them Rover Doctor does not *ever* try to take advantage and sell you a bill of goods (as I have witnessed & even been subject of at both the other larger independents I tried). As for the negative, in fairness I would share that being a smaller very busy shop sometimes the littlest items will slip through the cracks (i.e. top off the window washer fluid, don't forget to replace the burnt out tail light bulb, etc. -- the really minor stuff). I would also add, that I have observed many times cheap, complaining, headache customers come in looking for a miracle & the owner of Rover Doctor almost to a fault does his best to try and help them anyway -- when he should really be politely suggesting they take their business elsewhere in my opinion. Nonetheless, seems it is a long-time established family business and they treat their customers that way (a nice & rare change when it's actually genuine!). Anyhow, the best I can say is that they are an honest outfit in an industry (and brand) filled with many to the contrary it seems. They aren't the absolute cheapest prices in town from my experience, but they are definitely very competitive ... and if you don't want to have to take your car back repeatedly, consider them or try them out ... you do get what you pay for with these guys -- or at least I always have. read more

I must say as a single women being afraid of getting taking advantage of at a car repair shop, I HIGHLY recommend going there, They explained everything for me to understand showed me as i stood there what was wrong with my car, they didn't talk me into doing anything i didn't want to do. I have had my Rover for over 8 years and it was dealership maintained for the first 5. All my service experiences were average at best, in fact many times I felt taken advantage of and questioned the quality of work I received. When I moved to Orange County I tried a couple of different shops and wasn't very impressed. A friend recommended Rover Doctor. There knowledge and expertise made me feel comfortable from the start. Rover Doctor is AWESOME!!!! I just moved down here from Seattle and was looking for a quality, dealership alternative... And up came Rover Doctor! The customer service is incredible, their prices are fair, and the quality of work and honesty is unbeatable. There was an issue after they first fixed my LR3's air suspension height sensor, and they made sure I got back in promptly to readjust the suspension so that the problem did not persist. These folks are first class! I used to take my 2012 LR here for oil changes. I was always blown away by the service and reasonable pricing. They informed me what was under warranty and needed to be done by the dealer and what was maintenance. They are upfront and the consultation is educational. They gave me information in plain English. I never thought they were trying to confuse me with mechanical mumbo jumbo. I traded in the LR about two years ago and purchased a RR Sport. Last December I made the mistake of taking it to the Land Rover Newport Beach for an oil change and paid more than twice as much as Rover Doctor charged me. Last week the check engine light came on. The car is still under warranty so I wanted to make sure the issue wasn't warranty related so I took it to the dealer- HUGE MISTAKE! They have had my car for more than a week. Today the service rep called me telling me my car needs a host of repairs all maintenance related and costing $1600. They want $200 for an air filter, and $160 for wiper blades. I'm making an appointment with Rover Doctor tomorrow morning. I really don't trust the dealer! read more

The only reason folks don't take their Rover to Rover Doctors is because they don't know about them yet. After a typical experience at Land Rover Service where something as minor as a windshield wiper not working suspiciously becomes the need to replace your transmission... For many thousands more. Rover doctors is literally half the price and the owner Matt is a consummate professional and I believe, incapable of lying. They replaced all 4 of my brakes and threw in a free oil change and wash for less than half the price of the dealer. read more

I have been taking my rover here for a while and they have always taken good care of it. Recently they replaced a light of mine and it went out fairly quickly. They said it would cost me almost $1,000 to replace, but because it was a glitch they ended up fixing it for free. They are quick, extremely friendly and I can't recommend them enough! The past 3 or 4 times they did a GREAT job. From the initial appointment set up all the way through to the service.
