It is not cheap, but a great value considering the quality of the food, service and environment. I had the Bistecca - generous cut of beef seasoned perfectly and served in a sizzling cast iron place. I sampled one of my dining guest's veal chop Parmesan- a tomahawk bone in veal chop with red sauce and cheese- excellent. Not sure why there are reviews that say the service is not top notch, perhaps you're used to sitting in front of your T.V. with your barney tray and having mommy fawn over you like little Lord Fauntleroy cutting the crust off your toast and making sure your coco is just the right temp. Now to the real review! We've been back here as a couple, a family, group of 6 and everything in between. We are made to feel like family, and the food is off the hook consistent everytime, granted I stick with a few things I'm really nuts about like the Osso buco, the lobster appetizer, any pasta and btw, they accommodate changes without a gripe. One night it was late and I had to make sandwiches for my son's baseball game the next morning, I asked for a loaf of their yummy bread (expecting to be charged) they packed it right up and said, good luck at the game...no charge. Smart business move! We really like the special deserts chocolate or Grand Marnier Soufflé. Also, the mouse cake is fantastic. Coffee is always fresh and the service top notch. For those who complain about the service, perhaps you need to stay home at your tray table and have mommy bring you your mac & cheese. read more

My wife and I have only visited Rraci's twice, and find it difficult to go back. The staff is efficient, but cold even upon entering. This unfortunately can set off the mood for your visit. From the food standpoint, the dishes have been good to excellent (with one poor dessert that was flavorless). Everyone has an off night, but when you are looking to get top-notch service from a higher quality restaurant, it is a little disappointing. Rraci is the name and it has two Rs at the beginning for a reason. Really good food. Really inattentive, less than caring management/hostess. The servers were very attentive and excellent at their job. It was apparent that the cared about providing top-notch service. And they did. My preceding comment should in no way be construed against the servers. We (group of 10) had a 5:30 p.m. reservation. Earlier than is customary, but we could see why because at about 7:00 p.m. the restaurant was packed. There you go. The place must be good based on this kind of showing. The place is really big with a sizable bar to hang if your table is not ready. The food was excellent with a nice menu -- but don't expect an Olive Garden size menu, because the choices are somewhat limited. Like I said, the food was really good. Tasty and well-prepared EXCEPT -- it was not served hot. You could tell that 7 or 8 dishes out of the 10 sat under a warming light while the chef finished cooking my brother-in-law's osso bucco because his was the ONLY dish that was served hot. I have to give a few demerits to the chef for the less than inspiring sides to my veal chop, i.e., boiled mushy, tasteless carrots and how the heck was the asparagus prepared that it has the texture of a cotton ball soaked in water. Pleeeeease, this is supposed to be a top $$$$$ restaurant and you serve carrots, ugh. See above, less than inspiring. So you're asking what happened with the management/hostess? In a word -- nothing. She could not have been less interested in my, in all honesty, constructive comment. I said the food was delicious, but it was not served hot. She stared blankly at me, muttered something unintelligible and could not walk away quick enough. I will admit that the restaurant was packed. I would so like to give this restaurant a higher rating but I can't. The service here is dismal. It started at the coat check - it was a cold winter night but no one was at the coat check room when we came in and at no time did anyone ask us if we wanted to check our winter gear. The waiter appeared annoyed as he was telling us the specials, he started removing appetizers before everyone was finished, never came to ask us how the food was, and didn't offer to refill coffee cups. With $30+ entrees I expect better service. As to the food, it was good, my husband had the calamari - good but nothing special. He did enjoy the special ravioli that night. I started with the pear salad which was really quite delicious. The veal chop was good but again nothing special. Regrettable. The friends who invited us love the place, but for the money there are better places. We won't be back. read more

My dress attire there has always either been a tucked button down or a formal jacket. Jonathan K. seems like a real pain from reading what he wrote. Good but what's missing. The NYT's review in 2006 -- 4 years ago -- captured the good and what's still separating the restaurant from great. My homemade cavatelli with sauage and broccoli rabe was tasty but needed a bit more olive oil and maybe a little seasoning. All the other dishes were good not great. The service was again good, not great. It took a while to take the drink orders, then longer for the entrees. Some people will love this place. read more

Food was excellent, although very pricey! We shared an appetizer, my husband had a veal dish, & I had mushroom ravioli. Portions were decent. We each had a soda. Ordered chocolate souffle (fair), & homemade napoleon, (lacked flavor) for desert. Ambiance lovely. Service was very attentive. Came to over $200.00 ,without 20% gratuity we added. We are seniors who have rarely dined out due to Covid19. This restaurant boasts a special air purifying system. So we felt safe. Highly doubt if it's operational?! There was a table next to us where someone had a bad, active cough. Two tables over same thing. We mentioned our concern to waiter. He assured us that air filtration system would keep us safe. Wrong! My husband woke up the next morning with a terrible cough & fever. Neither of us had any exposure the week before our visit here. He was perfectly fine before we dined there. Our dinner became more expensive, after copay to Dr., lung x-ray, & medication. I called restaurant to advise of my husband becoming sick. The person I spoke with said he'd have manager check with staff, & call us back. No confidence in their having any safeguards in place. Sadly, never again! read more

We ended up taking my mother to Rraci for her birthday. I was a little reserved at first as my family isn't really the formal type, and this place is definitely the 'first date' type of restaurant... I mean it is Italian food after all! The intimate ambiance aside, which was a little over the top with even the bathrooms having really dim lighting, our experience here was great. If you arrive early, there's a nice bar area to grab a quick drink or cocktail. The bartender was extremely friendly. The selection is limited, but this a restaurant so that's to be expected. The service here is amazing. It doesn't seem as though you are assigned a waiter, as the entire restaurant staff is always at your disposal. They're always around, but hardly in a nagging way; which is quite the change from most restaurants. It is pretty hard to mess up Italian food, but Rraci's serves up some tasty Italian dishes that leave you satisfied, and full. From appetizers to after-dinner cappuccinos, every course was a great compliment to the previous. read more

We went because it received great reviews. I was extremely disappointed. First mistake was going on a Friday night. Very busy. We waited a long time for our appetizers and entree. Second mistake was not ordering enough food. But good thing they give you plenty of bread to fill up!! The portions are small, not enough sauce. Pasta dish was small too!! I was surprised since they make there own. It must be inexpensive to make?? Chicken parm is a classic dish but this was the worst ever, no sauce. Dry.. ugh For an Italian restaurant this was not worth the price$$$ Over rated, small cheap portions.... service was good. You have not tasted good Italian food if you like this place. I went out to eat last night with my boyfriend for our two year anniversary (because we heard nothing but good things about the restaurant). The service was absolutely horrible!!! We waited two hours for our meal, meanwhile BIGGER groups that came in after got their food before us!! Wait staff never asked us how we were doing and never asked to refill drinks. I've never felt more unwelcome to a restaurant in my life. Once we asked for the check that's when they started paying attention to us....a little to late for that!! Even if the food wasn't superb (it is!) I would love this place - white-shirted waiters with suspenders, carpeting, double tablecloths, dark-red-and-wood decor. Service is perfection: attentive staff who when they ask you "Is everything to your satisfaction?" actually look you in the eye and wait for your answer - they care and are exceptionally well-trained. Finished plates are removed promptly and the cloth is swept of crumbs before dessert is served. Little but essential things that make all the difference in a dining experience but which are sadly missing from all too many places these days. As far as food goes, everything I've ever had here has been exceptionally good, with the lasagna being a personal favorite. When you add in the fact that they have dessert soufflées (the only place in the area that does), there's no question it's the best Italian restaurant near the NY/CT border. read more
