One of New Orleans's staples that I think you may want to consider. Ambiance: Having multiple locations that are walking distance from each other that are both packed for service. In addition, the music was a little loud for a normal conversation which made the customers talk louder to try to talk over the music. Service: Mix feelings about service as my waiter was helpful for the most part but a little hectic due to mass of people. In addition, it was more helpful to take your order and pay your bill but wanting service during your meal was a little hit and miss. Food: The food was really good. I order some orange juice, but it was not mentioned on the menu. In addition, I order an appetizer, unfortunately it came out the same time as my entree. Everything was cooked to order. However, in my opinion, the grits could have been a little less clumpy with it could have been a little bit smoother. Overall: I would recommend checking this place out and see what you think for a nice breakfast/brunch meal. Prepare to have a little bit of wait and seating can be a little limited. I've had Ruby Slipper bookmarked before I ever thought about coming to New Orleans. It was our first breakfast experience on the taste tour. I wish I had reviewed the menu a little better because it was full of pork. But they had a couple of dishes I could try and had a taste for that morning. I got the French toast praline bites and the hot honey chicken sandwich with fries. My wife got chicken sausage, grits and eggs. All of it was delicious. We were staying nearby and took an early morning walk to their location on Magazine St. Surprisingly there were only a few other early birds there. Later that morning there was a throng of hangry folks waiting for brunch. For breakfast, their made-from-scratch biscuits and gravy is a must. The applewood bacon topper is a wonderful addition. I'm not a Hollandaise guy but they do it right here and my request for my eggs served over easy was accommodated. Don't judge but we were easily tempted to have a morning eye-opener and their Irish coffee got the day going just fine. There are several other fine eye-openers including their version of a bloody Maria (next time). Pro tip: Go early or join their waitlist and if you are waiting in line you can order one of their fine adult beverages while you wait. read more

I was on a mission to find some delicious breakfast as it's the most important meal of the day and this place sure didn't disappoint! Love that it's close to many hotels in the area so it's just a brisk walk away. We had the French toast bites to start and love that they are crispy! They didn't add too much of the cream cheese icing on it. And I like that they add the praline sauce to the side so you can add the amount you'd like. My friend and I both got omelets; there was a mix up and they gave me the wrong one but it was still tasty. The three little pigs was good! They load it up with the meats! It seems as if I got served the Spanish omelette. Great flavor just had a lot of veggies. All in all it's a great brunch spot! And if I'm ever in town again I'd stop on by. This place was a gem & we had a limited menu so I can only imagine what the full menu looked like. We started with the fried green tomatoes with bacon jam which was delicious and dressed so pretty. For entree, we ordered The Peacemaker which included the (Chicken St. Charles & Eggs Cochon) I'm not a fan of poached eggs so I got them scrambled and it was 10/10. The braised pork was our favorite. The sweet honey chicken was great, the French toast tasted just like Cinnamon Toast Crunch the ceralxand it was greats the chicken was also delicious but the star of the show was the honey glaze. It's a bunch of tables inside along with sidewalk tables. It was a nice day but we sat inside. Menu wasn't bad. I ordered French Toast and it was good. You can't mess that up. My wife took risks and ordered the shrimp and grits. My wife loved it. I tasted it and the grits were gritty and the shrimps tasted fishy. Not a fan but happy wife happy life. I seriously paid $5 for like 8 tater tots and $13 for the "Migas" which was basically 1 egg on top of soggy corn chip strips, some less than desirable "spicy" chorizo sausage, pico and half of an avocado. The chorizo was not spicy at all but it did definitely taste like it was burnt before going into the gravy. The only thing that had flavor was was the pico. Everything else was definitely under seasoned and the corn chips on the bottom makes NO sense. For what I received it was definitely over priced and totally unsatisfying. The place is quite small. Atmosphere was not very pleasant, had 2 different YOUNG kids in there being cranky ruining everyone's breakfast / brunch. If you're still on the fence... PASS. I got my order to go and asked the server what was better between pancakes and French toast. Located on Magazine Street in NOLA's Central Business District, Ruby Slipper is a happening place for brunch whose motto is "Life is brunch beyond." If you can grab a table inside, it's a very bright and lively atmosphere. They also offer outdoor seating on Magazine Street. We had an initial order of pig candy bacon bites, which are essentially broken-off pieces of candied bacon. While the presentation wasn't great, it was still pretty tasty. And it's bacon. Candied bacon. Their bacon bloody marys are pretty good there, while their Trifecta of Benedicts will leave you with leftovers unless you are a competitive eater. I was so looking forward to eating here but the experience did not match the hype. Food was ok. I got the Southern Breakfast. Grits and bacon were good. But biscuit was cold and tough. Bloody Mary was ok. But the real disappointment came by the staff. The majority of staff (and I was at the bar near the kitchen so witnessed it up close) were in bad moods, fighting with management and complaining about the customers. One person seemed like she quit on the spot after verbal sparring with another staff person. The two at the bar were openly complaining about the customers, then putting on a smile to greet the new ones. I didn't have silverware and when I asked a busser for it, he said I needed to ask the server. Once I got her attention, she gave me a set without a spoon so I needed to get her attention again to ask for one.
