...but the waitress isn't attentive the food was good we had the shrimp and grits were delicious the hot honey chicken and French toast was good. We also tried the fried green tomatoes they weren't good fried to hard too much breading.

We stopped in to get breakfast on our way out of town heading back home to Texas. Everyone, from the hostess at the door who seated us to the two bartenders working the busy bar area, was so incredibly nice. They all had great, fun personalities and didn't seem to be bothered by how busy the restaurant was. Then there was the food! Oh my goodness! My boyfriend got the biscuits and gravy, and I had the Eggs Cochon. His food was good but mine was by far the best meal we had in New Orleans and we had some amazing food while we were there. My boyfriend isn't really a fan of pork but one bite of my food and he regretted not ordering the same. I'm never able to finish a full meal so he did get to eat what I couldn't.

We also tried the bananas foster French toast which was sinfully delicious. All of the food was reasonably priced as well. We will definitely come again and we have highly recommend this place to all of our friends who like to visit...

I had the bananas foster French toast back when I visited in December 2024/January 2025 and I still think about it more than a year later. Service was very prompt and the restaurant is clean and functions like a well-oiled machine....

oldest daughter tried poached eggs for the first time with her Blackstone Benedict and loved it. It also came with a fresh little salad that balanced everything out nicely. My youngest got the hot honey fried chicken sandwich. Couldn't really taste the hot honey, but the chicken itself was fried perfectly, super tender, and flavorful. Overall, cute brunch spot, good food, strong drinks, and a nice Mother's Day experience.

I was looking for a breakfast spot and walked into this place. Looks like the Ruby Slipper is a chain. I saw a handful of them within a couple blocks. I didn't like the seating at the one closest to the hotel, but this one wasn't that much further, in terms of walking distance. They offer seating both inside and outdoors. There's counter seating in the center with tables surrounding it. The place was crowded, but I still found a table off to the side to the left. I could see the small kitchen in the back from where I was seated. This place is popular. I ordered the Truck Latte ($5) and Mota's that started out at $12.75, but ended up costing $2 more because every additional recommendation David G made cost $1 (Add Coubion, $1 + Add Pico De Gallo, $1), which is what I noticed about New Orleans. My food and drink tasted fine. I probably didn't really need all the extras. He did offer to fill my latte cup with coffee, but I didn't take him up on that offer because that sort of defeats the purpose of ordering a latte. Service was overall friendly and efficient. As I was looking around though, I was wondering what letter grade they would have if they were in Los Angeles.

Ruby Slipper is this fun, chaotic cafe that offers a very unique take on NOLA cuisine. Located just off of Canal Street, this establishment is very easy to find. Once inside, you will see a spacious environment with tables all over the place, plus a nice central counter space. What they offer is their own brand of Americana. There are really a lot of choices on their menu and all of them are very well prepared and tasty. The have food to fulfill all palettes and dietary desires. One of the fun things about this cafe is their staff. From my experience, they are all super high energy and really take care of their customers. The one thing I will say, again from my experience(s), is that they are all a bit of an up-seller. For example, when you are ordering, whatever it is you want from their menu, they will suggest something like putting avocado on it. "That's how I like it," they will say. Or, they may suggest something else. The one thing that they do not tell you is that every addition, no matter how small, will cost you. So, just keep that in mind as you meal may end up costing you more than expected. This is a very popular restaurant. With this, sometimes the staff can be stretched a little thin. This, though there are a lot of them. Just keep that in mind as during rush hours, you may have a bit of a wait. Overall, great place to get a good meal.

Had a great brunch experience at Ruby Slipper. The food was excellent: fresh, flavorful, and exactly what we hoped for when visiting a New Orleans brunch spot. The menu offers plenty of creative Southern inspired options, and everything we ordered was well prepared. Marvin was friendly, attentive, and efficient. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, with a fun New Orleans vibe that made the meal even more enjoyable. The only reason for the 4-star rating instead of 5 is the restaurant's inflexible substitution policy. I wanted to substitute for a single pancake, but that wasn't an option. It's a small issue, but a little more flexibility with simple substitutions would go a long way toward improving the customer experience. Overall, I'd definitely return and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quality brunch in New Orleans.

Went for the hype at Ruby Slipper Cafe and unfortunately... it just wasn't it for me. Used the app for reservations which at least helped put us on the waitlist, but there wasn't really an option for indoor vs outdoor seating and we ended up inside. Since it's such a popular spot, service was definitely slow. We were seated sandwiched between two other couples and overheard how delayed orders were, so we decided to order everything all at once. We got the fried green tomatoes, mimosa flight, cappuccino, and a boozy iced coffee. The mimosa flight was actually a LOT, and because it took so long for the server to come back around, I had to slow down my drinking just to pace myself with the food coming out. For food, I had the trifecta of bennies -- and I think we also got an omelet. I didn't even finish the trifecta, but to be fair, it's a LOT of food. The seafood bennie just wasn't giving what I hoped for. I've had some amazing crab cake bennies from smaller mom-and-pop spots, so I know how good they can be, but this one just missed the mark for me. The breaded chicken bennie was actually pretty good though, and the pulled pork/beef one wasn't bad either. The fried green tomatoes caught me off guard because they had a sweeter sauce or jam on them -- not what I expected, so I'd personally pass next time. I know a lot of people come here for brunch and bachelorette trips, but after going myself... I honestly don't really get the hype.

Brunch at Ruby Slipper Cafe was actually really cute for Mother's Day. It was PACKED, but the vibe was nice and they gave all the moms a sweet little card and a carnation, which was a thoughtful touch. The mimosa flight was overpriced and honestly... still nasty but that's probably my fault for thinking this time would be different. The morning margarita though? GOOD. Everything was lovely, from a surprisingly short wait time on JazzFest weekend, to quick service and great recommendations, to food served fresh, hot and delicious. The decor was nice and welcoming, with plenty of space between tables which is an issue with some NOLA restaurants. I didn't feel like I was sitting with my neighbors or overhearing their conversations. I appreciated the space! What more is there?

Love the Ruby Slipper. The wait can take awhile, but the service is super friendly and the food is delicious. I love the avocado toast which comes with fried capers and pickled onions. My spouse picked three of the eggs Benedicts. The chicken Saint Charles was the favorite of the three. The tasso sauce was so good and the fried chicken was so flavorful. We also get an order of bananas foster french toast for the table. So yummy!!

Stopped for a relaxing breakfast and left completely satisfied! They were definitely busy inside so while our server was very kind, we had to wait a little longer for things while she helped others. Thankfully we weren't in a rush so it wasn't a big deal We sat outside by the corner, it wasn't a super busy street so it was very nice to sit and enjoy a super yummy breakfast! The chicken st Charles was so good! Definitely recommend! I've never had beignets before and I'm so glad these were my introduction!

Went here for lunch were we started with the fried green tomatoes. The waitress was awesome and when I asked for them plain she convinced me to try them as the menu described them. They were delicious and then since I like my fried green tomatoes she brought me a couple plain. I would say put it on the menu as an option please. I then ordered their southern BLT ( guess what it had fried green tomatoes on it ) sandwich hit the spot for me. I enjoyed the overall jazzy type of southern hospitality and again I can't say enough on our waitress. I'll do my best to hit here again prior to leaving

One can never go wrong with visiting Ruby Slipper. Its always a must while visiting. The food is always delicious and made to my liking. The patio seating while visiting allowed up to enjoy the view as people went about their day. SOUTHERN BREAKFAST: I chose scrambled eggs, stone-ground grits, Applewood-smoked bacon, fried green tomato a buttermilk biscuit. 5/5 Mocktail sparkling sunrise: muddled fresh strawberries & Crofter's strawberry preserves with fresh lime juice, Natalie's Blood Orange Juice, and San Pellegrino Sparkling Limonata. I absolutely loved this one as it was so refreshing and full of flavor with a hint of fizz. Rosa was an amazing server!!!

Very good breakfast last minute! Having a very large group we came here to try and get a quick bite late in the morning. They were able to accommodate a group of 10 with only a 30 minute wait and got the food out pretty quick. The food was very good for being a large popular chain. My friends loved the shrimp and grits, and I absolutely adored the fact that you could mix and match the Benedict's. This is a great spot for brunch if you're not looking for a quaint local business.

The food and service were fantastic. Best grits we had on our trip. We sat outside and it was a bit chilly and rainy, but that's not the restaurant's fault! They also were able to accommodate us even though we got our timing mixed up, coming from NYC (that hour messes with you!) I ordered Migas and it was so flavorful and delicious. My friend ordered the eggs cochon, which she also said was very tasty. This is my second time dining at Ruby Slipper and I definitely intend to come back if I'm in the area again!

Ruby Slipper is located on Magazine Street. There was a wait so make sure you stay close to hear your name being called. This place was a gem & we had a limited menu so I can only imagine what the full menu looked like. We started with the fried green tomatoes with bacon jam which was delicious and dressed so pretty. For entree, we ordered The Peacemaker which included the (Chicken St. Charles & Eggs Cochon) I'm not a fan of poached eggs so I got them scrambled and it was 10/10. The braised pork was our favorite. The sweet honey chicken was great, the French toast tasted just like Cinnamon Toast Crunch the ceralxand it was greats the chicken was also delicious but the star of the show was the honey glaze. Don't forget to order your mimosa flight! So delicious. Great place & the second line during our brunch put the icing on the cake. read more

While my wife and I were visiting NOLA for 26th anniversary Yelp recommended this place for breakfast. They only do brunch and this place is busy. It's a bunch of tables inside along with sidewalk tables. It was a nice day but we sat inside. Menu wasn't bad. I ordered French Toast and it was good. You can't mess that up. My wife took risks and ordered the shrimp and grits. My wife loved it. I tasted it and the grits were gritty and the shrimps tasted fishy. Not a fan but happy wife happy life. 5 Stars - A Highlight of My First Visit to New Orleans! This was my first time visiting the city of New Orleans, and dining at the Ruby Slipper near the Central Business District was truly one of the highlights of my trip. The food was absolutely phenomenal -- rich, flavorful, and everything I hoped New Orleans cuisine would be. What made the experience even more special was the exceptional service. Our waiter, David, exemplified what great service is all about. He was warm, attentive, and made us feel right at home. The entire staff was incredibly sweet, especially toward my daughter -- they went out of their way to make her smile, and it meant so much to us. For over 10 years, I've been coming here! While in town and in my search for great pancakes/french toast, this name continued to come up as highly rated, even though Chat GPT (well Claude). Well, if it's not broken...don't fix it. I decided to give it a try once again. The hostess recommended the White Chocolate Bread Pudding Pancake. I'm not always a fan of bread pudding, but this was so goooooood! Damn near dessert, but good. Also got the Gulf Coast Omelette. The staff made the experience enjoyable with jokes and banter. My husband and I had breakfast here on April 16. We ate outside. My husband ordered the Gulf Shrimp Omelet and French Truck Coffee. He said it was delicious, served hot and tasty. I ordered the Eggs Cochon Benedict with French Truck Coffee. It was tasty, but served not hot, not even warm. Clearly, my meal had been sitting a while in the back. Guests that arrived long after we were seated/ and had ordered were receiving their orders, and most finished while we were still waiting to be served. Cold food. Was really looking forward to having breakfast here but it was a TOTAL let down unfortunately. They were "out of" smoked salmon... so I couldn't even get what I initially came here for. Service was so-so. Food was overpriced and bland. I seriously paid $5 for like 8 tater tots and $13 for the "Migas" which was basically 1 egg on top of soggy corn chip strips, some less than desirable "spicy" chorizo sausage, pico and half of an avocado. The chorizo was not spicy at all but it did definitely taste like it was burnt before going into the gravy. The only thing that had flavor was was the pico. Everything else was definitely under seasoned and the corn chips on the bottom makes NO sense. For what I received it was definitely over priced and totally unsatisfying. The place is quite small. Atmosphere was not very pleasant, had 2 different YOUNG kids in there being cranky ruining everyone's breakfast / brunch. If you're still on the fence... PASS. You're better off grabbing a breakfast burrito somewhere. read more

Excellent service and unforgettable breakfast choices! I ordered the catfish and grits on two separate occasions while I was in town for 4 days, it was that good! Clean, tender fried catfish on top of the creamiest grits with a topper of taso cream sauce. It was love at first bite! They gave a great looking selection of benedicts and omelettes as well as brunch cocktails if you prefer. I will be dreaming of this dish until next time I'm in the area! read more

Bradley was our waiter. From the front door we had great service the food was exceptional! The only thing we didn't give a star on was when we were seated no one greeted us for about 15mins. Even if you're not my waiter or waitress we should have at least been told our waiter would be with us in a min. When I'm seated I expect to just be greeted and not ignored. Customer service was just ok. Although she was nice, she disappeared in the back for a while. It was not crowded (only 1 other table) and around 8:30 in the morning. It took forever to get her to bring our check. Although I enjoyed the fried green tomatoes, something was off about those shrimp and grits. They appeared very oily, and they tasted the same. I know this is a popular chain in New Orleans, but I wasn't a fan. read more

Went their twice on this trip and both times we had great friendly knowledgeable servers and enthusiastic greeters . They seem to share the greeter role. Great food, great atmosphere. Our server today was called Talor D and the previous one was called Kudzai. It will be my first breakfast and brunch stop next time we come to NOLA read more

Not impressed. From the south and would never recommend this place. Biscuits and gravy barely had any gravy. Shrimp and grits roux was very vinegarie. Really half ass. Asked for more gravy, guy never came back. Best thing I had was the hot chocolate, oh and the loaded tots. read more

After the bumpy post COVID years, Ruby Slipper roars back into top form! The coffee is French Truck. I had the poached eggs over a fried green tomato and biscuit with Tasso ham and shrimp. We also tried the hot honey chicken. Another bit heavy for me but tasty! Busy as all get out during event weeks like Mardi Gras, you definitely want to put yourself on the waitlist. I was so looking forward to eating here but the experience did not match the hype. Food was ok. I got the Southern Breakfast. Grits and bacon were good. But biscuit was cold and tough. Bloody Mary was ok. But the real disappointment came by the staff. The majority of staff (and I was at the bar near the kitchen so witnessed it up close) were in bad moods, fighting with management and complaining about the customers. One person seemed like she quit on the spot after verbal sparring with another staff person. The two at the bar were openly complaining about the customers, then putting on a smile to greet the new ones. I didn't have silverware and when I asked a busser for it, he said I needed to ask the server. Once I got her attention, she gave me a set without a spoon so I needed to get her attention again to ask for one. I do understand that everyone has bad days, but don't take it out on and in front of the customer. It just leaves a bad feeling and colors the whole experience. read more

Whirlwind - last Minute trip we were in New Orleans for the weekend! Staying closer to the business district, we were looking for a place to have breakfast! Well with the amount of reviews, we were like - this is it! We have to check it out!! Ruby Slipper here we come! Walking about 5 blocks, we arrived and it was so funny, from a block away we could see the line with groups of people standing outside! We were dreading the wait, but thought, hey... we're in no rush. To our surprise it was only a 10 minute wait. Quickly scanning the restaurant, it's located on a somewhat quiet corner street. Tables and chairs are available inside and outside, inside is a center bar area. Bar tables for 2 on the left. Booths and regular tables on the right. Angelette was our server and she was on point! Drinks were ordered promptly. We knew what we wanted and so we were set!! We ordered: Beignets Banana fosters french toast Souther Breakfast Pride takes flight mimosas Coffee Water Food was delicious and very filling. I wish I took a photo of the biscuits!!! The breakfast sandwich on biscuits were incredible and didn't fall apart. Also the food travels well!! We picked up sandwiches two days in a row, only down side is they don't have hot sauce to go.. unless you ask them and depending who you get they'll pour some in a little to-go container read more

The brunch menu is so different from the standard fare of other restaurants. No matter what you do, start with the bourbon milk punch - you can't go wrong. This location is always rocking and you can have a 40-60 minute wait, be sure to use the "wait in line" feature through yelp. Although the service today wasn't the best, I've been here numerous times and the service is normally great. read more

We needed a restaurant that had gluten-free options for my wife to enjoy breakfast, and she found it in the Ruby Slipper. She had options to choose between their omelets and their shrimp and grits. I went for their Trifecta of Benedicts, which (wasn't gluten-free, but I knew this) sent me into a food coma, but it was worth it. Located on Magazine Street in NOLA's Central Business District, Ruby Slipper is a happening place for brunch whose motto is "Life is brunch beyond." If you can grab a table inside, it's a very bright and lively atmosphere. They also offer outdoor seating on Magazine Street. We had an initial order of pig candy bacon bites, which are essentially broken-off pieces of candied bacon. While the presentation wasn't great, it was still pretty tasty. And it's bacon. Candied bacon. Their bacon bloody marys are pretty good there, while their Trifecta of Benedicts will leave you with leftovers unless you are a competitive eater. All of them are solid, with the Chicken Saint Charles being my favorite of the three. read more

Arrived for a late breakfast around 10:30 after a long morning of traveling in from Boston. We were seated immediately in this great corner area with a view of the entire restaurant. Upbeat music and the original Addams Family show were playing. The ceiling fans in the center of the open room kept the space cool, despite the mugginess of the morning from the rain earlier. Our waiter, Tom, was very attentive. He even showed my kiddo where the bathroom was. Kiddo had a cranberry juice, & I ordered the Ruby Slipper Mimosa. The mimosa left a nice buzz after. Definitely happy we're walking while here. I ordered the White Chocolate Bread Pudding Pancakes. Three large pancakes. Kiddo wanted to try them, so I had the white chocolate whiskey sauce on the side. Leave it to me to have a kiddo who isn't a sauce/syrup fan. Ha ha! The pancakes were sweet but not overly so. I was able to drizzle the sauce as needed. Definitely need a sweet tooth for that. Kiddo ordered the children's Cinnamon Swirl Pancake. The order was huge! Two large pancakes & a slice of bacon. I was told by a friend to check out this place when visiting NOLA. I am happy I did. I ordered the French toast. With a side of scrambled eggs and bacon. I also ordered the latte. Very good. My husband had the cinnamon pancakes with a flight of mimosas. The server was very nice. It's very clean. You want to go early as possible. It starts to get busy by 9am. The food is good; however on my last visit December 1, 2024 the wait time to get food was horrible. It seemed they were short staff. EVERYONE was looking around for the waiter as we waited to be served drinks and have our order taken. Food took forever to come out as well. We ordered two things on the menu to go. A Benedict with shrimp, pork, and chicken, which was good; the shrimp especially was delicious and the eggs were nicely poached. The French toast was not good in terms of bang for your buck. It was about $10 and only came with three half-slices of toast that had some cinnamon on them, maybe one strawberry cut thinly, no maple syrup, nothing else. I was frankly shocked at how little came in that container, and I later saw on an online menu that it was supposed to come with bacon. The person taking my order asked me if I wanted to add bacon, so I assumed the bacon was a separate charge and said no thanks. Not sure what happened there but I would not return just because there are so many more amazing spots to eat in NOLA. read more

One can't help but go on a mini food tour when visiting NOLA. We had breakfast here on our last morning in town. The place has decent space. Casual dining atmosphere. We went early around 8am on a weekday so seating was easy. Food experience was standard. I would not say out of this world. They do have most items one would expect to be eating at breakfast. It's ideal for groups as well. The portions are large and good for sharing. I got a chicken and waffles type dish with the waffles cut into small squares. The Ruby Slipper is a must for breakfast or brunch while in New Orleans. Be prepared to stand in line on the weekends. I got lucky and was able to sit at the bar without having to wait. I ordered the Bananas Foster French Toast and bacon. The French toast was delicious and so satisfying. The bar tender was great he made sure I was okay while making every drink in the restaurant. Best brunch place around! There were so many great choices- and the drinks were amazing. Overall it's a nice place and I'd try it again, with the stipulation they turn the AC on because it felt like it was 90 degrees in the building.

Make sure to tip extra because it is one tough job.

He barely put any syrup in both the drinks, and the "cold foam" was a tiny squirt of a white syrup out of a squeeze bottle, didn't even come close to a layer of actual cold foam. Also, ordered the large iced drink and it had the same amount of espresso as the smaller one. Both drinks were flavorless and payed $18 with a small tip added. Don't recommend wasting time and money on this.

The iced London Fog lattes I discovered are premade, which overall my wife thought was alright, but she liked that they had gluten free blueberry muffins. The chocolate croissant was solid. The service was prompt and friendly. And the decor had a rustic ambiance with the brick walls, dark book shelving and garden patio in the back. The coffee bar has a hidden quality about it that is alluring and appealing. It was good to check out before we concluded our recent stay in NOLA.

It did come with a nice biscuit. Be aware of what's being served. Stick to the well-known real-deal restaurants. Not everything is what it claims to be. Nothing real about this ripoff. We'll never go back to this tourist trap.

We finally waved down our server to cancel and get the check since we had to be somewhere and he apologized and said their WiFi was going in and out so it could be that it was registering on the kitchen side. That may have explained why our entrees took too long. If it wasn't for the service and the food being great - I would not be thrilled about timing. We got there around 5:30p and had to leave by 7:15p so an almost 2 hours experience that probably could have been 1 hour.

My experience at Ruby Slipper Cafe started off well with their convenient online waitlist system, allowing for immediate seating upon arrival. The service was prompt as our drink orders were taken quickly. For our meal, we chose pancakes with bacon, avocado toast (without smoked salmon), and a gulf shrimp omelette. Unfortunately, the pancakes and bacon were somewhat dry, and the avocado toast had an overpowering vinegar taste from the pickled vegetables, coupled with not-so-fresh avocado that was quite brown. The gulf shrimp omelette was decent but nothing extraordinary. There was a slight issue during payment; our server accidentally processed our credit card for another table's higher amount. Luckily, I noticed the error on the receipt, and they managed to correct it without needing to void and reprocess the transaction. Overall, the breakfast experience was just okay. While the service was good, the food quality didn't quite meet expectations. I probably wouldn't return. read more

I will not forget this beautiful and delicious painful experience, I will have to admit it was my fault. 1. I had been miserable leading up to my wedding this is where the mothers dinner was to be served . 2. The two weeks before the wedding at this very same restaurant I couldn't hold it no more I hadn't cheated on my fiance No but I was in love with someone else and yes he was in love with me you he's always supported my decision one way or the other he as in my best man 3. Thank God I held off until after the luncheon and on my own ride home I Drive on I discuss with my fiance and I came clean well my partner and I we been together now almost 18 years son grandson so we're happy. 3. When we walked up to the restaurant...the street was crowded. I thought people were insane for crowding the street just to get a seat inside. Fortunately for us, it is a hot day outside and a waiter (Alberto) announced that he had an opening outside for 2 people. I quickly raised my hand. Talk about zero wait time! Alberto was amazing! He knew the menu like the back of his hand and he did not disappoint!!! He recommended the St. Peter fish. Soooo good! Alberto even talked to a couple that was smoking near our table while waiting for their name to get called. My boyfriend complained about his food because there was a simple mix up with the eggs but wanted to keep his dish so he did not have to wait for a new plate. Alberto assured him that he would have his new meal back in less than 5 minutes. It came in 2! Paying for our meal was a breeze! The waiters walk around with iPad mini. Best brunch spot in New Orleans! This is definitely one of the more popular Ruby Slipper locations and it does get super busy, so adding your party to the waitlist remotely using Yelp is a lifesaver. There is truly something for everyone; if you're searching for sweet or savory or something light, they have just the choice for you. Their coffee is from another local brand called French Truck and they serve it in all of their restaurants in a variety of ways - iced, hot, even boozy They have rotating seasonal specials that change each quarter; their Winter specials right now were all fantastic. If you want to sample them all, they have a "trio" plate that has some tastings of all 3 specials - the benedict with coffee-glazed ham on a biscuit, cranberry + orange curd pancakes, and the sweet potato stuffed french toast. Ruby Slipper was an amazing brunch experience from start to finish. The food was full of flavor, fresh, and beautifully presented. The shrimp and grits were absolutely outstanding -- rich Cajun-style gravy, perfectly cooked shrimp, cheesy grits, and a buttery biscuit on the side that tied everything together perfectly. The drink flight was also a fun touch and gave us a chance to try a variety of cocktails. Everything was well-balanced and refreshing, especially the Bloody Mary. The atmosphere was relaxed, welcoming, and had the perfect brunch vibe. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. Overall, Ruby Slipper is definitely a spot I'd recommend if you're looking for great Southern-style brunch food, creative drinks, and excellent service. We'll definitely be back. read more

This was a great spot for breakfast! Great morning cocktail selection and a menu that will paralyze you with the inability to choose from so many tantalizing choices. Jazz was a great server and even in spite of the fact of the place getting slammed made sure we got attentive and cheerful service. Bridge was also an awesome hostess who extended enthusiastic New Orleans affection on all of her guests. The food was delicious. The French toast bites were sinful to start off with. I had a breakfast sandwich with every ingredient prepared to perfection. But that leads me to my only quibble-the sandwich came on a plain white hamburger bun. That's really boring and lacking flavor and texture and even from a visual standpoint made it look like fast food sitting on my plate. But I'll be back! read more

My all-time favorite brunch spot. My mouth is crying just thinking about all the deliciousness I've had here! The line is long, especially on weekends/Saints game days/etc. But get with the times! The No Wait app let me get in line in my hotel room while we got ready! If you are waiting, get a brandy milk punch or their house bloody Mary. Both are unbelievable!! I've never been disappointed here. They have a great staff, from the hostess, waitress, even one of the cooks came to our table outside last time and offered our dog leftovers (you can bring your dog on their patio). Good waitstaff is hard to come by, but kudos to the Slipper for being consistent with their service, food and drinks! I'll see ya'll next trip ;) read more

We had the pleasure of working with the staff at the Ruby Slipper on Magazine Street for a reception during the 2011 Rotary International Convention, May 2011. After contacting the management they agreed to open the restaurant after hours from 4 - 6 pm for a cocktail hour for 70 people. We could not have asked for a better location, service or atmosphere. Wade and Joe took such good care of our group that we extended the party another hour. We would go back to them in a heart beat. We have been going back for breakfast and lunch. The food was absolutely incredible. The homemade biscuits truly stole the show m, flaky, buttery, and unforgettable. The New Orleans-style grits were rich and full of flavor, the kind that makes you pause after every bite. The spicy chicken and biscuit, drizzled with a hint of honey, was perfectly balanced, crispy, tender, and just the right amount of heat. The catfish was fried to golden perfection, crisp on the outside and tender inside. And then there were the drinks, don't sleep on the flight of mimosas. Travis was the ABSOLUTE BEST!!!!! That New Orleans flavor was in the food, the establishment AND Travis!!!!! Our girls group dropped into this spot for our first meals on the first day of our trip and are considering returning before we leave. Did I mention that Travis made this experience even better?! We went there for brunch on Saturday. We wanted to try out their "Ruby Slipper" specials but everything had some kind of pork product in it so we tried the BYO omelet and Chicken St. Charles with Hollander sauce instead of the pork sauce. The chicken dish was actually good even with the different sauce. We chose the location because it seemed the bigger compared to other locations, on Yelp. The food was okay, the server was okay as well, the tables were so close to each other that he hesitated to come in between them to take our orders so, I had to shout to give my order. I was terribly disappointed with my meal at Ruby Slipper, but the rest of my family enjoyed their meals well enough. My gripe was with the truly awful trifecta of bennies. All three had hard eggs. I pointed this out to our server, who apologized for the overcooked eggs, but made no offer to correct them. My plate sat untouched. With the long wait, the anticipation of a good, last meal of our trip, I was hoping to be impressed. This might well be a rare instance of someone simply making a mistake, but the lack of resolution left me annoyed. My husband and I are in the NOLA celebrating our birthday and we got here two days ago, the only reason we came is because our hotel raved about how good the food is! They did not disappoint at all, this was the best food we've had since we landed. Hubby got the pacemaker and I had the shrimp and grits, my server Brandi P. really made the experience unforgettable, she explained the menu, gave a couple of faves even! My wife and I have been here before and truly loved the food. Few years later, we were celebrating her grandmother's 80th birthday and treated her to breakfast.
