busy, very busy but had a few seats outside open. lots of good options for food and drinks. And breakfast cocktails. Service was super friendly. Dog friendly outside. Food is very good. Our waitress spilled our drinks on the table, a latte and the bloody Mary. spilled on my shoes a bit, a little bit on my shirt, but all good and i wasnt covered in it. Lol. We all have our bad days. she did comp our latte, but not the bloody Mary. brought out new ones, I do feel she should have comped us the drinks in general. But not sure what policy was, She was very friendly and could tell she was having a rough day. Friendly reminder. Be kind to your servers, they are people too. read more

Absolutely AMAZING! Go here, you will not be disappointed. We went at 8am and got seated right away during the 2nd day of the Taylor Swift concert. Started off with a flight of mimosas and the Blueberry Lavender was definitely the favorite of the 4. We asked for a recommendation and immediately we were told to order the special....which was Sweet Heat Crispy Brussel Sprouts with Fried Chicken, Bacon Onion Jam over cheesy grits! OMFG! This was insanely good! We also ordered St Charles Chicken Eggs Bendict over biscuits which was also amazing. The sauce they put on the eggs Benedict is incredible, I could just drink it. Highly recommend this place!!! 5 stars!!! read more

Probably one of the worst eggs Benedict I've had in my life. Fried tomato on top tastes like it's been sitting in a fryer for days. Hollandaise was not hollandaise. Biscuit was alright...eggs were tiny as you can see in the pic. Salad was good..but it was a few greens with dressing Service was no good. Got there at 750 and made an order within a few minutes. Food was pretty damn good. I ordered the shrimp and grits as well as the fried green tomatoes. The favorite between the two was definitely the shrimp and grits. It spoke to my soul, lol. The service was great. My food came out super fast. I didn't really enjoy the vibes, though. The place was packed and super chaotic, so it took away from my experience. read more

Now listen up everybody! My name for today is Dorothy and I'm here to tell you all about my fabulous ruby slipper...cafe that is! Honey, this place is a VIBE! It gets PACKED so hear me when I tell you, try to get there early to avoid the crowds and wait time. My wait time was 10 minutes, but I was also solo so that might have moved the process along a little faster. Anyway, I enjoyed a refreshing pineapple mimosa while I waited and that probably had me too buzzed to remember the actual wait time lol. However, I do recall, it was 10 minutes! But back to the drink, this mimosa didn't miss on the champagne pour and it was Just the way I preferred it, STRONG! Once seated by the friendly staff, I was placed at the bar and immediately put in my order with the bartender. I needed a coffee because it was fairly early and while I did enjoy my mimosa, I'm a coffee gal and cannot do without it. So of course I ordered my brew and asked if they had a non-dairy option to which he recommended the special creamer they use for one of the drinks. Honey, that thang gave my coffee a flavor push and it made the moment even better. While sitting at the bar, enjoying the music (they keep the party going) I talked with other guests and asked about recommendations. That's when I ordered the Chicken St. Charles and Bayou shrimp bennies. Baby, the Chicken St. Charles was absolutely delicious in flavor, but my eggs weren't poached, it was actually hard lol I was a little disappointed so I simply moved it off the biscuit and pushed it to the side. The chicken was prepared well, seasoned just right and covered in a delicious sauce, the biscuit was soft and buttery and it complimented the entire dish. I rated this a perfect 10! It was so good. The Bayou Shrimp, baby this deserved its own paragraph because it stole the show. My egg was poached just right and runny! And the shrimp were perfectly prepared. When I say that I thoroughly enjoyed this, trust me, I did! It was absolutely delicious from start to finish...well in this case, from top to biscuit. This was beyond a 10! Price? Under $50 for everything! The mimosa was a little pricey but the food and coffee wasn't bad. Overall, I loved this place and had a really good time. I cannot wait to visit again and probably this time get a few more mimosas in me lol Now let me click my heels 3 times and while I wish I was back in NOLA...I do have to hop off this review! The service was mid. It felt like our server hated us, we had to ask for waters which didn't come, people who were sat after us were served way before us, our food took so long that when they brought a pancake instead of the biscuit/jelly side I ordered I just ate the pancake (which was actually really good) That being said the food was great but overpriced for what it is. Macy is pretty awful at her job. I grabbed breakfast on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at about 10:30 am. I was seated at the bar next to an older gentleman, also seated alone. Macy was waiting on both of us. Unfortunately, the kitchen gave me my neighbor's food in lieu of my own - we had the same order (biscuits and gravy) but had asked for our eggs prepared differently. It took a moment for me and the gentleman beside me to realize that the kitchen had messed up our orders, and we promptly informed Macy (my food was also cold). Instead of apologizing and correcting her mistake, Macy told me that the mix-up was my fault because I "should have noticed that the eggs were prepared differently." I have never experienced such abysmal service and attitude from restaurant waitstaff. Macy is clearly in the wrong line of work and should be terminated immediately. read more

Did a search for local breakfast spots and this came up #1 on the list in Yelp and it did not disappoint. We read that it could have long wait times, but we lucked out due to the rainy weather. The place was busy but we got seats within 5 minutes. The place feels fairly large and open with a bar counter in the middle, plus high tops on one side for couples and tables to accommodate larger parties on the other. Quinn, our server, was very nice and attentive. We had the classic buttermilk pancakes and the egg white Florentine omelet. They were absolutely delicious!!! By far the best Florentine omelet I've had. It was so light, fluffy and tasty! My husband had the pancakes which weren't as heavy as he had anticipated. If you're considering trying this place - DO NOT HESITATE! It was so good! Cute, fun cafe and the food was great. Street parking only but we found a spot within a block. We didn't have a reservation and went for brunch on a Saturday morning (during Taylor Swift weekend, no less) and didn't have an issue getting a table, which was great! Coffee was ok, but good enough. I tried the Berry Chantilly Pancakes and my teenage daughter tried the Cinnamon Swirl Pancakes. Both were delicious!! I ordered a side of bacon with mine and they were a little chewy, could have been more crispy, but that's a personal preference I guess. Overall, cute little place and would go back to any of their locations if we're ever in NOLA again! read more

Long wait. And when we got the text, they accidentally gave our table to someone else. It was quickly remedied and we got a spot outside. Our server, Donavan was awesome and super friendly. The coffee was hot and delicious. The only reason I'm giving them 4/5 is because the poached eggs were overdone on the Bennys. Yokes were hard. I had the Cochon and Fried Chicken Eggs Benedict. Both were yummy but the Cochon was spectacular. My partner and the two tomatoes Benedict which he also enjoyed. We had one pancake on the side with out-of-this-world maple butter. We enjoyed our quick breakfast here as far as food was concerned. The service could use a bit of improvement. We waited on our server to come back to the table to bring hot sauce, ketchup, coffee cream, etc. We wanted to order something to go and she was nowhere to be found. I'm not sure if she had some tables inside. We were seated outside to get some fresh air. I got the portabello mushroom omelette since they didn't have anymore avocado for the avocado toast order. My company got the breakfast sampler and a single pancake. I will say when the server took our order she was helpful. Eventually, we flagged down Mia and she helped us with the rest. This place was delicious!!! My daughter and I shared the White Chocolate Bread Pudding Pancakes. Absolutely DIVINE. It tasted like the middle yummy part of a cinnamon roll. 10/10 Our server was a little busy and still took the time to greet us and let us know she'd be with us soon. She got someone to come take our order and get us drinks. She then came over to apologize which was SO NOT NECESSARY. She went above and beyond to make us feel taken care of. Delicious. Would never suggest this place to anyone. We waited 30mins to be seated. Ordered our food along with coffee and juice. Got the drinks. Waited 45mins, just be told they were out of one of the dishes and if we'd like to pick something else off the menu. Same thing happened to the table next to us. We never received the other dish either. We said forget it and asked for the bill. They then continued to do everything but bring the bill. Mind you, it's almost closing time and there's only about 5 tables left. We had to get up and walk to the register and get worked up just for them to get on it. Then they bring the bill with the food still on it. This place is a joke!!!! read more

Breakfast was amazing! Eggs Cochon was a great selection. Egg over pulled pork over a cat head biscuit with hollandaise over the top of it all....times two! Plenty of breakfast for a big eater like myself. Also use the "wait ahead" feature on their website to get in line early. I got in line before I walked over from hotel and walked right in. The line is long so there is a wait. Customer service is great. The food was good but I was disappointed my pancakes were raw I got the bread pudding pancakes and some areas were cooked well but some just goey and stretchy. So I ate all the ends but the center and close to it was raw. The little I ate had a good flavor. I think they just need to make sure before it goes out that the middle is cooked. read more

A great last meal before a flight out of NOLA. I loved the triple Benedict, unfortunately one of my 3 stacks was cold. My sister adored her banana foster French toast. Service was a bit slow, and we did get the wrong drink order, but we chalk it up to a busy morning. The quality of food was great and the restaurant seemed happy. read more

Came here for brunch, and everything was wonderful. They were a bit backed up, but told us ahead of time that the kitchen was short staffed, so we were prepared and were totally fine with a longer wait for our food. The breakfast sandwich was solid, eggs were a bit soft and grits were more mealy than we are used to, but I think that may be authenticity of the area more than anything. I opted for the three option omelet with onion, sausage and gouda plus a side of sausage links. The omelet, though odd sounding combination turned out to be solid. This place (not this exact location) came as a high recommendation from a local friend, specifically for breakfast, so we came in relatively early in the morning. It was packed! Fortunately, they had space available at the counter (and we don't mind) so we were immediately seated and served by the "counter-man" who is much more machine. Seriously, it was mesmerizing to watch this guy work. This was one of the highlights of the meal, and the greatest form of entertainment. Not only did he take care of the food orders for the two or so dozen people at the counter, he was also making the drinks (at light-speed) for everyone in the restaurant. Everything looked good, so I decided to hit up the Trio of Benedicts. Good thing I was hungry. This was a beast of a meal, with enough food for three normal people, and at a very reasonable price. My experience at Ruby Slipper Cafe started off well with their convenient online waitlist system, allowing for immediate seating upon arrival. The service was prompt as our drink orders were taken quickly. For our meal, we chose pancakes with bacon, avocado toast (without smoked salmon), and a gulf shrimp omelette. Unfortunately, the pancakes and bacon were somewhat dry, and the avocado toast had an overpowering vinegar taste from the pickled vegetables, coupled with not-so-fresh avocado that was quite brown. The gulf shrimp omelette was decent but nothing extraordinary. There was a slight issue during payment; our server accidentally processed our credit card for another table's higher amount. Luckily, I noticed the error on the receipt, and they managed to correct it without needing to void and reprocess the transaction. Overall, the breakfast experience was just okay. When we walked up to the restaurant...the street was crowded. I thought people were insane for crowding the street just to get a seat inside. Fortunately for us, it is a hot day outside and a waiter (Alberto) announced that he had an opening outside for 2 people. I quickly raised my hand. Talk about zero wait time! Alberto was amazing! He knew the menu like the back of his hand and he did not disappoint!!! He recommended the St. Peter fish. Soooo good! Alberto even talked to a couple that was smoking near our table while waiting for their name to get called. My boyfriend complained about his food because there was a simple mix up with the eggs but wanted to keep his dish so he did not have to wait for a new plate. Best brunch spot in New Orleans! This is definitely one of the more popular Ruby Slipper locations and it does get super busy, so adding your party to the waitlist remotely using Yelp is a lifesaver. There is truly something for everyone; if you're searching for sweet or savory or something light, they have just the choice for you. Their coffee is from another local brand called French Truck and they serve it in all of their restaurants in a variety of ways - iced, hot, even boozy They have rotating seasonal specials that change each quarter; their Winter specials right now were all fantastic. If you want to sample them all, they have a "trio" plate that has some tastings of all 3 specials - the benedict with coffee-glazed ham on a biscuit, cranberry + orange curd pancakes, and the sweet potato stuffed french toast. This was a great spot for breakfast! Great morning cocktail selection and a menu that will paralyze you with the inability to choose from so many tantalizing choices. Jazz was a great server and even in spite of the fact of the place getting slammed made sure we got attentive and cheerful service. Bridge was also an awesome hostess who extended enthusiastic New Orleans affection on all of her guests. The food was delicious. The French toast bites were sinful to start off with. I had a breakfast sandwich with every ingredient prepared to perfection. But that leads me to my only quibble-the sandwich came on a plain white hamburger bun. My all-time favorite brunch spot. My mouth is crying just thinking about all the deliciousness I've had here! The line is long, especially on weekends/Saints game days/etc. But get with the times! The No Wait app let me get in line in my hotel room while we got ready! If you are waiting, get a brandy milk punch or their house bloody Mary. Both are unbelievable!! I've never been disappointed here. They have a great staff, from the hostess, waitress, even one of the cooks came to our table outside last time and offered our dog leftovers (you can bring your dog on their patio). We had the pleasure of working with the staff at the Ruby Slipper on Magazine Street for a reception during the 2011 Rotary International Convention, May 2011. After contacting the management they agreed to open the restaurant after hours from 4 - 6 pm for a cocktail hour for 70 people. We could not have asked for a better location, service or atmosphere. Wade and Joe took such good care of our group that we extended the party another hour. We would go back to them in a heart beat. We have been going back for breakfast and lunch. We went there for brunch on Saturday. We wanted to try out their "Ruby Slipper" specials but everything had some kind of pork product in it so we tried the BYO omelet and Chicken St. Charles with Hollander sauce instead of the pork sauce. The chicken dish was actually good even with the different sauce. We chose the location because it seemed the bigger compared to other locations, on Yelp. The food was okay, the server was okay as well, the tables were so close to each other that he hesitated to come in between them to take our orders so, I had to shout to give my order. I was terribly disappointed with my meal at Ruby Slipper, but the rest of my family enjoyed their meals well enough. My gripe was with the truly awful trifecta of bennies. All three had hard eggs. I pointed this out to our server, who apologized for the overcooked eggs, but made no offer to correct them. My plate sat untouched. With the long wait, the anticipation of a good, last meal of our trip, I was hoping to be impressed. This might well be a rare instance of someone simply making a mistake, but the lack of resolution left me annoyed. My husband and I are in the NOLA celebrating our birthday and we got here two days ago, the only reason we came is because our hotel raved about how good the food is! They did not disappoint at all, this was the best food we've had since we landed.
