Very much a diner type place. Has a lot of options on the menu so a good place for any group to eat. Menu can be seasonal so lots of rotating dishes. Great location for people to walk to if staying in the area. I ordered the mimosa flight which came with 4 drinks, I'd say only 2 were good the others I just drank to have some alcohol and not waste money. The flavors are seasonal so you'll have to check the latest menu for details. I had pancakes, potatoes and eggs- I'm a vegetarian so that's standard for me. I was not impressed with the pancakes they seemed old and dry. We sat outside, luckily the weather was good, the outside seating is kinda on the sidewalk and a lot of people waiting for a table we're around our table. This place gets busy!! I had reserved a table through the waitlist on their website and thank God I thought to do that! Even at 9am it was packed. Geez. The wait time was 70 minutes around 11 am on a Sunday. So we came back on Monday around 8 am and the wait was around 20 minutes. You can join their waitlist remotely but be close enough to walk over within 5 minutes to check in in-person like instructed in the automated text messages. The check-in process was a mess. There were people trying to just join the waitlist with the hostess, some people checking in because their table was ready and those waiting to be seated all in the same small space. There were no clear signs where each group should be standing/waiting inside or outside of the restaurant. The food was served barely warm with the side of grits being slightly hotter but still not pipping hot. "Award-winning" Bloody Mary $12.50 (4/5 stars) - this was pretty good, I would've like more tomato juice and a stronger taste of celery. Creamy Vanilla Iced Coffee $5.60 (4/5 stars) - I saw bags of French Truck coffee grounds by the bar so I am assuming that was what they use (confirmed by receipt that said "French Truck Iced Coffee"). It was pretty good, I personally would've loved for it to be even stronger. Eggs Cochon Benedict $16 (2.5/5 stars) - lukewarm then got cold within 5 minutes. The flavors of the tender pulled pork were very subtle and almost bland to be honest. The biscuit bun was dense and not good. Side of Stone-Ground Grits w/ shredded Pepperjack $3.75 - still had some tiny hard pieces that haven't been soaked through and expanded, at least this was hotter in temperature and hence, more comforting. Not worth the hype or the wait. read more

Great food but we had a reservation, got a text 20 minutes early saying our table was ready, but when we got there right at our reservation time they had already given it to someone else because we were not there early, we waited another 45 minutes for a table. Food was good, service was good, just not the reservation process. read more

I was super excited to try ruby slipper, we started off really strong with good drinks and the loaded tots. The braised pork was delicious. Then things went crashing down when our orders of catfish&grits and the trifecta Bennie's came out. The plating was pretty for both but when I dug into the catfish I was left underwhelmed. Lack of seasoning and not a crispy batter in site. The trifecta was disappointing as well, it lacked a punch of flavor and it wasn't piping hot-if that makes sense. We sat at the bar but so far every bar we've been to thus far have been a super friendly and personable. Not that the staff wasn't nice here it just felt like we were an afterthought. We went during a very busy time, it was about an hour wait (which is to be expected with most popular spots), however it also took about an hour to get our food and it didn't even come out hot. That was pretty disappointing especially since it was just two people, again I get it being super busy but no one wants a cold breakfast after a night on bourbon. The food wasn't bad but I'm not sure I would stop again with so many breakfast places around New Orleans. read more

Lively and fun place to grab breakfast or brunch while in Nee Orleans - the Benedict's were delicious and my kids had egg sandwiches which were both good as well - the bacon was superb! Overall the place was solid and the service was good. There was a little of a wait but the food was savory and sweet perfect for bunch. The ambiance was very small and homey. Personally I would pass on the sweet potato beignets and get theme elsewhere. The prices in comparison to the portion were ok we weren't told that the meal came with biscuits so we ordered one in the side. It was a little expensive for our taste the single scrambled egg was pretty pricey - this was an experience I don't think I'd come back again as there are other places serving the same or better quality for a pretty decent price in this area as well but overall it was good! read more

Put your name on the wait list through Yelp prior to going!! What a high energy place for brunch! They had Cartoon Network playin on TV with old school shows and great music! We started with an Irish Coffee and Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary had the right amount of t of spice and old bay! We had the Bananas Fosters and the Trifecta Bennies. Definitely be prepared to wait in line no matter what time of day you visit. We originally tried to dine in around 10am on the first morning of our trip and there was an hour wait. So the next day we woke up early and joined the waitlist online and ended up with a 15 minute wait. But, it's totally worth it. I had the white chocolate bread pudding pancakes which sounds like too much but it's actually just the right amount. My friends tried the bacon and praline pancakes and bananas foster French toast and all were great options. We also split a mimosa flight because we're on vacation so why not. The pomegranate one was my favorite. The service was great and we got our food quick. read more

Fast friendly and efficient (not rushed) service. Multiple servers look out for each table in the restaurant. Not the typical breakfast menu, very creative. Avocado toast with salmon was out of this world with a balance of flavor and texture. The Chicken St Charles on fresh biscuits served with poached eggs on a light bed of spinach was fantastic! They feature a variety of Bloody Mary's. The servers offered coffee/water to go. We ate there twice during our four day stay at Sandestin. read more

This was our first meal in New Orleans. Our bus driver noted to us that their last serving time was 1:30. We got an early check-in, settled down our bags, and headed straight to the restaurant. It was 1pm and NO lines!!! This is the reason why we do not travel on season. I was so happy!!! Everything seems to work well. Our server is so enthusiastic about her job, I was so glad. We already feel this is New Orleans, the southern hospitality!!! We went for something savior and sweet. My daughter had the French toast with fried chicken. The French toast was delightful. The chicken was spicy, which was a special surprise. I had the Bayou shrimp. I was a little disappointed that it was not hot, almost cold. One of the eggs was too well done, and only a few shrimps. I didn't expect my dish to be constructed this way. But other than that, I enjoyed it. Worth the note that they have the cold brew coffee from French Truck Coffee, and since my first day, I was hooked. I literally go to their shop in Chartres Street every day!!!. I love this coffee. Everyone knows about this brunch spot in New Orleans and I am glad I got to try it with no wait. read more

Busy brunch spot and we likely came on an off day which explains the 3 star review. First the positives. Awesome menu, and there's absolutely something for every person and every tastebud. The food was flavorful and the drinks were fun. And the establishment was definitely busy so it made for a fun atmosphere. The problems. We did come for brunch, so there was a lot happening. The bartender was definitely overwhelmed and it took time to even get recognized, let alone order. We saw a few couples at the bar just leave out frustration. The food was lukewarm and had a few stray hairs. I imagine the kitchen was backed up. And it all felt rushed and disheveled. The tv was showing colon cancer ads, we got food without silverware, and it didn't feel smooth. Might try one of their other locations or come back here when there's less happening read more

If you're staying along Canal or within a short walk to Ruby Slipper, this is where you want a great breakfast. Quick tip- they line up here to get in. So click the website link within Yelp and get on the wait list before you walk over as there is no sitting area to wait. We did and got seated with minutes of checking in. Large pancakes, crispy bacon and eggs and I was full within 30 minutes of getting seated. They do brunch here too so if you are running late you can still eat good. Love this place. read more

I found this place on here and decided to give it try as it was a 5 min walk from my hotel. I seen where they are typically busy and to put your name on the list ahead of time on their website. That's what we did and I'm thankful for doing so. They were quite busy for a Monday so I can only imagine how busy they are on the weekend. We got there and checked in they said it would probably be another 20mins and they would text me. It wasn't 5mins later and we had our table. We did opt for next available seating which happened to be outside. It's a little area on the sidewalk with people walking by so if that's off putting to you there is also indoor or bar seating. The inside did seem to be a bit crowded and loud. Our server was amazing I wish I could remember her name. She gave us some recommendations and and they were on point. Drinks I got the bacon infused Bloody Mary which was amazing tasted exactly like bacon. Came garnished with pickled green beans, a slice of bacon, lemon and lime wedge and an olive. It was too spicy it was perfect. Coffee was so fresh and hot Hubby got the morning margarita he said it was ok it wasn't his favorite. Being outside it did get watery quick. Per the server's recommendation I got the shrimp and grits add cheese and crawfish with a biscuit. I have to say that's the best thing Ive ever ate in Nola. It was Nola in a bowl. It was such a flavorful dish. The shrimp and crawfish were cooked to perfection. I would order this again and again. The biscuit was light and fluffy and worked perfect to soak of the amazing sauce in the bottom of the bowl. Hubby got the pick 2 Benedict's called the peacemaker 1st was eggs Cochon it had slow cooked apple braised pork debris on top of a biscuit with hollandaise and a perfectly cooked poached egg on top. It had great flavors and the egg being cooked to perfection made it even better 2nd bayou shrimp it's gulf shrimp with fried green tomato on top a biscuit with hollandaise sauce and yet again a perfectly cooked poached egg. It had great flavor you do loose a bit of the crunch from the tomato but it was still amazing. We also ordered a single white chocolate bread pudding pancake and it was out of this world. Very sweet but in a good way. I don't like sweets or bread pudding and I could have ate the whole thing. It's amazingly good. For 3$ please give this sinfulness dish a try. The server orders your food direct from a handheld device so it comes out super fast and paying your check is done on it as well so there's no waiting. I can't wait to eat here. Margarita flight is limited time but they do have the margarita separate all year round my favorites were the watermelon super refreshing and the blueberry just the right amount of tart. The mimosa flight is available all year round The eggs Benedict was perfect and the biscuit was super fluffy, thick, and soft the egg was cooked to perfection so easy to get the perfect bite. French toast bite are by far my favorite and a must have crunch and sweet with the praline sauce but not overly sweet and just amazing over all. Being about 8:30am I was surprised at how packed they were but the noise level wasn't too bad. Could still have a good convo without shouting. Ehhh....Got here and the line was out of the door, it was a bit out of control and unorganized and not to mention the weather was cold. Once I finally made it in, the waiter came by in a timely manner, took our orders, food arrived and it was warm & not flavorful. I was regretting it instantly. Cute restaurant for breakfast in the downtown N.O. area. I came twice for brunch during my stay in New Orleans. Both times I went there was a wait (for a party of two), but it was nothing too long. The only reason for 4 star is that the reservation process leaves a lot to be desired, you sign up for a time then you have to wait to get notified if you can make the reservation and get sent a link to do that. This place (not this exact location) came as a high recommendation from a local friend, specifically for breakfast, so we came in relatively early in the morning. It was packed! Fortunately, they had space available at the counter (and we don't mind) so we were immediately seated and served by the "counter-man" who is much more machine. Seriously, it was mesmerizing to watch this guy work. This was one of the highlights of the meal, and the greatest form of entertainment. Not only did he take care of the food orders for the two or so dozen people at the counter, he was also making the drinks (at light-speed) for everyone in the restaurant. Everything looked good, so I decided to hit up the Trio of Benedicts. Good thing I was hungry. This was a beast of a meal, with enough food for three normal people, and at a very reasonable price. My experience at Ruby Slipper Cafe started off well with their convenient online waitlist system, allowing for immediate seating upon arrival. The service was prompt as our drink orders were taken quickly. For our meal, we chose pancakes with bacon, avocado toast (without smoked salmon), and a gulf shrimp omelette. Unfortunately, the pancakes and bacon were somewhat dry, and the avocado toast had an overpowering vinegar taste from the pickled vegetables, coupled with not-so-fresh avocado that was quite brown. The gulf shrimp omelette was decent but nothing extraordinary. There was a slight issue during payment; our server accidentally processed our credit card for another table's higher amount. Luckily, I noticed the error on the receipt, and they managed to correct it without needing to void and reprocess the transaction. Overall, the breakfast experience was just okay. When we walked up to the restaurant...the street was crowded. I thought people were insane for crowding the street just to get a seat inside. Fortunately for us, it is a hot day outside and a waiter (Alberto) announced that he had an opening outside for 2 people. I quickly raised my hand. Talk about zero wait time! Alberto was amazing! He knew the menu like the back of his hand and he did not disappoint!!! He recommended the St. Peter fish. Soooo good! Alberto even talked to a couple that was smoking near our table while waiting for their name to get called. My boyfriend complained about his food because there was a simple mix up with the eggs but wanted to keep his dish so he did not have to wait for a new plate. There is truly something for everyone; if you're searching for sweet or savory or something light, they have just the choice for you. Their coffee is from another local brand called French Truck and they serve it in all of their restaurants in a variety of ways - iced, hot, even boozy They have rotating seasonal specials that change each quarter; their Winter specials right now were all fantastic. If you want to sample them all, they have a "trio" plate that has some tastings of all 3 specials - the benedict with coffee-glazed ham on a biscuit, cranberry + orange curd pancakes, and the sweet potato stuffed french toast. This was a great spot for breakfast! Great morning cocktail selection and a menu that will paralyze you with the inability to choose from so many tantalizing choices. Jazz was a great server and even in spite of the fact of the place getting slammed made sure we got attentive and cheerful service. Bridge was also an awesome hostess who extended enthusiastic New Orleans affection on all of her guests. The food was delicious. The French toast bites were sinful to start off with. I had a breakfast sandwich with every ingredient prepared to perfection. But that leads me to my only quibble-the sandwich came on a plain white hamburger bun. My all-time favorite brunch spot. My mouth is crying just thinking about all the deliciousness I've had here! The line is long, especially on weekends/Saints game days/etc. But get with the times! The No Wait app let me get in line in my hotel room while we got ready! If you are waiting, get a brandy milk punch or their house bloody Mary. Both are unbelievable!! I've never been disappointed here. They have a great staff, from the hostess, waitress, even one of the cooks came to our table outside last time and offered our dog leftovers (you can bring your dog on their patio). We had the pleasure of working with the staff at the Ruby Slipper on Magazine Street for a reception during the 2011 Rotary International Convention, May 2011. After contacting the management they agreed to open the restaurant after hours from 4 - 6 pm for a cocktail hour for 70 people. We could not have asked for a better location, service or atmosphere. Wade and Joe took such good care of our group that we extended the party another hour. We would go back to them in a heart beat. We have been going back for breakfast and lunch. We went there for brunch on Saturday. We wanted to try out their "Ruby Slipper" specials but everything had some kind of pork product in it so we tried the BYO omelet and Chicken St. Charles with Hollander sauce instead of the pork sauce. The chicken dish was actually good even with the different sauce. We chose the location because it seemed the bigger compared to other locations, on Yelp. The food was okay, the server was okay as well, the tables were so close to each other that he hesitated to come in between them to take our orders so, I had to shout to give my order. I was terribly disappointed with my meal at Ruby Slipper, but the rest of my family enjoyed their meals well enough. My gripe was with the truly awful trifecta of bennies. All three had hard eggs. I pointed this out to our server, who apologized for the overcooked eggs, but made no offer to correct them. My plate sat untouched. With the long wait, the anticipation of a good, last meal of our trip, I was hoping to be impressed. This might well be a rare instance of someone simply making a mistake, but the lack of resolution left me annoyed. My husband and I are in the NOLA celebrating our birthday and we got here two days ago, the only reason we came is because our hotel raved about how good the food is! They did not disappoint at all, this was the best food we've had since we landed.
