Definitely one of my favorite spots in New Orleans for brunch. I love this location especially because of how big the space is. I usually alternate between getting the Gulf Fish St. Peter and the Chicken St. Charles. The portion for both of these dishes is more than enough I can never finish it all. Gulf Fish St. Peter $15 Large piece of gulf fish with two cheesy grit cakes. They top it off with grape tomatoes, spinach, & hollandaise. The dish also comes with a skewer of shrimp! Chicken St. Charles Benedict $13 (I think I actually favor this dish more than the gulf fish) There's fried chicken in this dish, so you already know it's going to be delicious. I absolutely LOVE the Ruby Slipper and I love the food there I come to New Orleans almost purely for this food. I have been to many different locations throughout the city. This was my first time at this location however, and the food was just as good but where do I start with the service. Our server was Katlyn S. who had the entire lobby with no food, not checking on us, taking +25 minutes between seeing us, we had no water and getting a hold of her for more than a second was impossible. She DEADASS rolled her eyes at us multiple times. She was most likely having a bad day and she made sure all the customers felt it there with her. Damn girl I have worked at a restaurant. Trust me I get it. But the way you treated us and other tables was unacceptable. I literally had to shout at her to get the check after we waited for over 20 minutes and it probably took her 1 minute to charge us. What's the problem? We are nothing but nice and patient and a simple "Hey sorry I'm very busy I'll be with you guys in a few minutes" would've been all we needed to hear. She was absolutely horrible and needs to be retrained on customer service. A smile would've changed everything. Even if the food is great with that kind of service, people won't come back. Do better! My husband and I went for breakfast. We were immediately greeted and seated. Our waitress came right away and took our coffee order. Wish I could remember her name so I could give her a shout out because her recommendation was spot on. We split the peace maker eggs Benedict. The two we chose were amazing!! This is the second time I've visited this location. Both visits definitely had pros and cons. My first visit there, the food was all very delicious-particularly the Bam Bam biscuit- but the service was horrible. Our waitress was so rude, it was unbelievable. My parents and I were just sitting talking for a little bit after eating and the waitress said, "Can I get y'all anything else because there are people waiting?" In a city centered around hospitality, that was the least hospitable thing she could have said to us. My second visit there, the service was remarkably better. My husband and I sat at the bar. The bartenders were all so friendly and we got our food very quickly. We enjoyed sitting at the bar. However, the food left a little to be desired. My husband ordered the Migas breakfast and the chips were very stale. I had the catfish & grits- catfish was great, but the grits were very plain. I'll definitely come back, but I'll probably try another dish and hope for good service like we had the second visit! read more

This place was so good we ate there twice. The servers were pretty nice and they bring the food out rather fast for it to be busy. I changed my review mid typing from 4 to 5. Although every menu item doesn't meet the 5 star expertise, the 2 items I have pictured (one a speciality not offered daily) were worth the stars! Lots of food, fresh food, well cooked food. The only reason I don't give it five stars is I am not fond of French Truck coffee which is a personal choice. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the coffee but it is too bitter for me. I live closer to the location on magazine street, but always travel to the one on S. Broad. I've been a ruby slipper diner since they opened and things have only gotten better over the years. I love the beautiful walls at the S. Broad location too. My favorite meal is the three little pigs omelette. But I have had the waffles, the burgers, and I can't resist the southern fried BLT with the fried green tomatoes at lunch. Sometimes you have to wait a long time in line, go inside, get a cocktail or bring a book, it's worth it. read more

Just shrimp and cheddar cheese with an overbearing egg flavor. Grits were buttery and creamy. Pancake was pretty standard. Creole Ruben was again pretty lacking in taste. Creole slaw didn't add much to the sandwich besides making it soggy. Just tasted like meat cabbage and rye bread. read more

I've had a benny and an omelette here, and both were very good, with eggs that were treated with respect and not overcooked. I was extremely eggcited to try it out and waited over 30 minutes just to dine at "an award-winning cafe famous for our breakfast, brunch & lunch offerings." ⁣ From my experience, I can't see why people are benedicted (addicted). ⁣ I ordered the Peacemaker, which allows you to choose two different Benedicts. ⁣ My original order called for Chicken St. Charles and Shrimp Boogaloo Benedict. The platters took longer than usual to come out because apparently they ran out of chicken. Both of my friends got their Chicken St. Charles just fine. However, I received a piece of fried skin hidden under a poached egg. After biting that crispy part, I was astonished because that was all I received from what should've been a piece of chicken. ⁣ The Shrimp Boogaloo was alright. The shrimp reminded me of dining hall frozen shrimp. The only thing that saved the platter was the buttery, buttermilk biscuit.⁣ When I finally got attention from my waitress, she informed my table about how our food took so long because they ran out of chicken, and the kitchen tried to pass a piece of scrap on my plate. I wanted to love this place passionately - I wanted it to be the quintessential New Orleans Brunch Experience. They have a GREAT story of recovery and rebirth in a post-Katrina NOLA - and they make great food! Seriously - their food is EXCELLENT. I had Eggs Blackstone and they were better than any eggs I've had during this whole trip. One daughter had Shrimp and Grits, which she had craved for a long time - and she LOVED it. The shrimp were large and tender, and the dish was rich and tasty, just like you want it to be. I can't recall what the other daughters had but it was also wonderful to get a LARGE cup of coffee. This seems rare in New Orleans, and I enjoyed being able to get the sweetness/milkiness ratio right and enjoy it. But the atmosphere in this uptown location was a bit sterile. It didn't feel warm and cozy ... it was clean, certainly, and comfortable but ... just not charming. It was pretty crowded for a Monday morning at 10:30 - I was surprised. If we had to wait, I doubt I would have done it - we'd have just gone someplace else. My husband and I ate here when we visited the garden district for a tour. It was delicious. I love eggs Benedict and couldn't decide on one so I got the deal for 1 an extra dollar to have one of the Eggs Cochon and the Eggs black stone. They were both delicious. I am not sure I could choose one more then the other. The Eggs Cochon comes with pulled pork and was very good the Eggs black stone come with applewood smoke bacon and was equally delicious. The Bloody Mary was also good and a tad spicy if you like that. The only bad Tito's vodka, well, and another brand so if you don't like those kinds be warned. I only gave 4 stars because my husband ordered the sausage gravy and biscuits meal with a side of sweet heat fried chicken but they never put gravy on his meal or brought it out when we asked. The service was good and we don't hold it against them but would of been nice to have with it. My husband also ordered the iced vanilla coffee which was good but if you like sweet coffee ask for extra sugar. The biscuits were so amazing and probably the best we have ever had. Great spot for a quick breakfast after a jog through the town! Very welcoming atmosphere and no wait time for the bar top seating. Has a home town diner feel and as soon as you walk in you smell great food and see smiling faces. We had the steel cut oatmeal and a Florentine omlette and both were great! We ordered way too much food but it was filling and tasted great. The mimosas and the cane sugar butter were two big standouts. Oh and the biscuits, wow, I've cut out carbs but had to sneak a little taste. Can't see how folks even finish those things. Noice atmosphere and usually hate loud places.
