We came here for brunch. The kitchen was behind so the waitress warned us early it would be slow. I got the vanilla iced coffee and it was delicious My husband and I got the same things: eggs, bacon, grits, fried green tomato, and a biscuit. The grits were just ok but the green tomato was pure deliciousness. The eggs (over medium) were cooked really well and the biscuit was as good as people tout it to be We sat outside and it was surprisingly comfortable. read more

Such a cute name and ambiance of a place! The fried green tomatoes were very good. We had our toppings on the side. Our meals were nothing too special. This was our least favorite meal in New Orleans. It was not bad but not very tasteful. We loaded up our meals with pepper. Our service was great. If you are looking for a really flavorful meal then I'd say keep looking. I'm surprised at the really high stars of a rating. Again, not bad but no flavor. read more

So good we had to come here twice!! If you love brunch this is the place to come. Everything we had was amazing. I love that you can get a duo Bennie so you can try 2 flavors in one. The shrimp and grits was the best I ever had here in NO. The biscuits and gravy were some of the best I've had anywhere. All the different pancakes were so light fluffy and flavorful. Even on a Saturday when it was busy we had great service and once a short 35 mins wait. I love the atmosphere very clean and welcoming. I'm a huge wizard of Oz fan so of course I got myself a shirt. If your looks for the best brunch in town this is definitely the place to go!! read more

I have added this to my list of NOLA stops when visiting. This place has grits, the type one does not get in California. Pro tip: make sure you pay for parking in the adjacent lot (the free parking is for another restaurant) to avoid an unpleasant surprise upon return to your vehicle. read more

It will come up in recommendations whenever you look up places in Nola for good brunch. It was not bad but i believe a little over rated. Our service was great and food was ok too. Can try some southern favs here. Place gets really busy so be prepared for wait time if going without reservations. Do try their egg benedicts, they are not only good-they have many options too. read more

The only place we went in New Orleans we weren't all that impressed with, but it was more the service we were disappointed with than the food. When we came in it wasn't all that busy, maybe about half the tables full. We were seated quickly and that's where our good service ended tbh. We sat for over ten minutes before the host finally came back and took our drink order and probably another five before we met our waitress. She had us order everything in one go (app, entrees, and drinks), brought our drinks, and then didn't come back until after we had our entrees. We probably saw her a total of three times the entire meal and each she was very brusque with us. When we were done eating we had to wait another fifteen until she brought our check. Idk if they were just super understaffed or what, but this just wasn't great. For the food, we got the French toast bites - pretty good but not great. I got a creamy vanilla latte, which WAS very good, probably my favorite thing. I did a Benedict flight, the crawfish one and the pork cochan one. I definitely loved the pork one but found the crawfish one bland. My husband got the biscuits and gravy and he liked it but said the gravy could've used more flavor. GREAT biscuits though! I'd give this place another chance, maybe one of the other locations. read more

While vacationing in NOLA, we had a Garden District Tour scheduled for 10:00 AM with the meeting location at a SBX on Magazine Street. Lucky for us, the Ruby Slipper was right across the street! We easily got a table for 6 inside and were accommodated to a different table once we realized we were right under the AC and it was freezing in there! Our waitress moved us and then arranged to take our table and switch with the waiter assigned to that section. We started with cocktails and lattes. Then tried the Fried Green Tomatoes that were very tasty. The Bananas Foster French Toast was incredible. It was New Orleans style cooked with rum-flambeed bananas and raisins. Served with bacon, it was the perfect breakfast while on vacation. Great service and amazing breakfast. Yummers! read more

We came in to town for a graduation ceremony banquet (medical). We kept passing by the Ruby slipper. But decided to look it up just in case we needed a reservation. Saw Ruby Slipper, "CBD". (it was 4 of us). We thought, hmmmm, very strange "CBD!" (Keep in mind, we are from California) so instead of calling, we walked right up. The young lady at the front said how many, I said 4, but we don't have all of our party on-site. The young lady said have you been here before, we said no, I was very curiously asked, ummm! We looked you up and it said "CBD", She smiled and said yes, I said, you put it in everything? She actually said yes, but only pulling my leg and said CBD is Central Business District. Oh wow she got us. Thanks for the laugh. Our party arrived and we were seated. We had French toast bites, Piggy bacon bites (pairs perfect together) eat them like a lil sandwich delish, we had the fried green tomatoes, they were very well dressed, loaded! Absolutely delicious, there was fish and grits, and shrimp and grits, the were Smooth and creamy, the fish and the shrimp cooked to perfection. The Bloody Mary's are very good. and I can't forget the service was A1. They didnt miss a beat. Loved it!. When in the area, take a stroll to the Ruby slipper Uptown. You will not be disappointed. Lol! Don't ask for the CBD! If you don't know California is legal for cannabis, and CBD is the chemical compound in cannabis. read more

If you are near the Ruby Slipper you have to stop in for brunch! Our rental was right by the Ruby Slipper and we are so happy we chose to stop by. The food was amazing (I had the hot honey chicken biscuit) but everyone in our group loved the food and drinks! The wait went by really quick and we were sat promptly. Our server Katlyn was amazing! This was a great experience! We got there at about 10 on a Sunday and had to wait for a while even though I put myself in on the wait list online. So even though you check in online, make sure that they have it because you might end up waiting a lot longer than you planned. Very busy but overall a great atmosphere! I had the benedict that was pretty standard while my friends have the different variations of eggs benedict. We all thoroughly enjoyed it! Everything was just very fresh and very good. Someone had the bananas foster pancakes which tasted so delicious! Overall this was just a great place in the neighborhood to get breakfast and I would highly recommend it! Definitely going to return next time I'm in the area and eat some breakfast with some good friends. read more

Outstanding! And that's exactly what I told our server, Shanel. I had the French vanilla latte to start. It was so yummy and had real whipped cream on top. Since we're new to Nola, we had to sample everything. I tried the biscuits and gravy. It came with Applewood bacon (perfectly crispy), a fried green tomato, and two eggs. I consider myself fairly talented at preparing biscuits and gravy, and theirs lived up to my high expectations. Their biscuits were awesome and the gravy was flavorful as well. My date had the trifecta- a sampling of three different benedicts. The cochon was a show stopper though! We also enjoyed the seasonal beignets- apple pie cheesecake. They were my favorite, as was our sweet server! Highly recommend this spot read more

Delicious is a total understatement. We ordered the Sweet heat chicken bites, bread pudding pancakes, and a side of biscuits and we truly cannot decide what was best. I'd say the chicken and something sweet are a must try. The cocktails too of course. Lady friend & I came here because the other one on magazine street was chockablock (maximum capacity and some). It's a real nice spot inside & out. Well decorated. The staff is very nice and very friendly, server stayed and chatted for a little while after we were done. There's many many menu items that sound appetizing but you can't get them all at once. The French toast bites were A-1, everything about them and the syrup was great. The loaded tots with pork and bacon was also incredibly good! Then I had the breakfast sandwich, with chicken sausage. I was not crazy for the chicken sausage...I didn't realize they had regular sausage. If it weren't for that, this whole visit would have been perfect, it was already just about perfect but the chicken sausage threw me all off. Otherwise, the biscuit was good and the shredded pepperjack cheese was a great addition. French fries and scrambled eggs lacked seasoning but no biggie at all. Girlfriend said the grits were amazing, said that that was the best breakfast she'd had in a while so there's that. A fried green tomato, over medium egg. I definitely enjoyed my meal and appetizers, despite the sausage. I also had a Coke and rum, the bill was like $55 or something, so I can't really complain about that price. I would definitely recommend this spot as I've been hearing for years that it was good and finally saw for myself. read more

A qualified recommendation: Had the "hot" Salmon Avocado toast. Toast was warm, but everything else was fresh from the refrigerator, including the "hot" salmon and the poached egg. So it was cooked ahead of time, stored in the fridge, then assembled and served. My wife liked her Eggs Florentine and cappuccino. My coffee was also good. Server started off poorly when they walked away when I said I was ready to order after my wife. In sum, good coffee and Eggs Florentine. Not so much the rest. read more

Our server was friendly, kitchen cooked our food fast and was delicious, and the atmosphere was upbeat and updated. Great food, fast service, all around good experience. Frankly, I haven't even tried the food yet. I'm just irritated that they left my grits out of the bag so I had to go back. Before this they gave me the bag, with the syrup I asked for spilled all over the bottom. mind you this happened before they even gave it to me, so I know that they saw it. When I walked in, they were rude. It wasn't a hello.... I said hello. They just stared at me however, when I had to go back to the grits, the ladies were super super sweet and super nice so maybe they just didn't see me / hear me however the folks in the back knew what they were doing, and I don't appreciate it I'm still wiping syrup from everything .... When the family is in town, the Ruby Slipper, Uptown, is our go-to breakfast or brunch. Gets us ready for the trek up and down Magazine Street, and exploring the Irish Channel. I have eaten at several Ruby Slipper locations (there are what, seven, now?), but Ruby Slipper, Uptown, is our favorite. The service is always fast, family friendly and accommodating, which is very helpful when dining with a toddler (Special Thanks to Miah C, you made our experience a success!) The table ordered Southern Breakfasts ($12.75), Three Little Pig Omelettes ($14.24), and Classic Buttermilk Pancakes ($4.25) on the side. Talk about a delicious way to prepare for the day. I always appreciate the spacing between the tables, clean restrooms, and the full bar and reoccurring drink specials - today, it's a Flight of Margaritas. This place was amazing!! Opted to go to the one away from the crowds. We made a reservation but did not need it. Parking was plentiful. We were sat immediately. It had a nice laid back vibe. Our server was sweet and very attentive. There were so many choices so I decided on a beni as they call them. You can choose one type or 2. Of course I choose 2 so I can try different ones. I had the bayou shrimp and eggs Cochon. The eggs cochon was the star! The pork was tender and flavorful. The sauce was creamy and the biscuit was fluffy! The bayou shrimp had a good flavor too, just enough kick!! I ate only the topping because I was already full off the first one!! Oh and my vanilla iced coffee was bar far one of the best I had!! Several locations around the city. This one on Magazine St gives you some nice views in addition the good menu. They're big on boozey drinks to go with your meal and have a wide offering of them. I'm strictly a coffee and water guy in the morning - so I stuck with that. They let you mix and match several kinds of benedicts which I took advantage of. One had deep fried chicken and one had a fried green tomato. I hestitate to say which was better- loved them both. Pretty easy to find parking on the street nearby - dont pay to park on Magazine st. Delicious breakfast! I love that they let you split up the bendicts. I got one fried green tomato and one crawfish bene. I ate the crawfish one first, and thought it was great. Haven't been to a Ruby Slipper in a few years, so was interested to see how it is not that it has expanded so much. Went with four others. Pros: Food was very good, we got two omelets, two benedicts, a breakfast sandwich, and a pancake on the side. We all ate, no alcohol, for about $100 before tip, which is very reasonable for New Orleans. No wait, the restaurant was almost empty at 8:15 am. Cons: They tried to seat five of us at a four top, even though the restaurant was empty. The table was also dirty. They eventually moved us when we asked for another table. The waitress spilled coffee at our table, did not come back with more napkins or come clean it up. Another waiter spilled gravy all over the floor behind my 80 year old parents, never cleaned it up or warned my parents about slipping on it. Spill was still there 30 minutes later when we left. The water for the tea was cold. When my mom asked it be taken off the bill because the water was never hot, the waitress said they were having a problem with the hot water machine. To me, this says the waitress knew she was brining cold water, never mentioned it or fixed it, and waited for us to say something before she did anything. Summary: Good food and value but horrible service and not cleaning up at least three obvious messes. Probably will not return. read more

This was on our breakfast places to visit so we came to see if it was any good; turns out it was great! We saw how busy the downtown location was and were prepared for a wait, but we were lucky since we went to the one further out so we weren't fighting with all of the tourists who were staying in downtown. There were plenty of tables open, I think it was too early for all of the brunch people so we got seated quickly and easily. Our server has very friendly and the decor was kind of hipster but still had southern charm. I'd never had fried grits before so I didn't know what to expect but they were amazing. It was like a cake, but grits battered then fried, so they held their shape and had a wonderful crispy outside and gooey creamy inside; added with the benedict and hollandaise, the sauce added another layer of flavor with the crawfish and herbs. This restaurant was recommended by locals so we have it a try while in town. We started off with the beignets, which were pretty tasty. We had their seasonal peach flavored ones but we're disappointed because they were out of the ones we originally ordered. Hubby had the breakfast tacos which he liked. I had the salmon omelet. I wasn't too fond of it but the biscuit and grits were really good. Overall the food and my specialty coffee were good. The waitress was young and inexperienced, so our service was not the best. She took forever just to get our order in, didn't come back to check in us after our food came (delivered by someone else) , and we kept having to flag her down to ask for refills on hubby's coffee. Overall the place was ok. The bathroom was also out of paper towels and the floor was grossly sticky. The breakfast sandwich was solid, eggs were a bit soft and grits were more mealy than we are used to, but I think that may be authenticity of the area more than anything. I opted for the three option omelet with onion, sausage and gouda plus a side of sausage links. The omelet, though odd sounding combination turned out to be solid. Maybe it was my options, but it was decently "one note" in flavor. I tossed a little hot sauce on and that helped. However, while the sausage links were not much to look at, they were tasty, with a nice snap to the casing and meaty inside. To go with our breakfast, I got a cold brew with a splash of almond milk while my partner embraced NOLA and started his day with a bourbon sour. Both of us enjoyed our choices! I am extremely disappointed to have to write this review as a longtime patron of the Ruby Slipper. However, my experience today (3/18) at brunch was deeply upsetting. I have celiac disease, and upon arrival, I immediately informed the waitstaff of my dietary restriction. They provided me with their allergy menu, allowing me to make an informed decision about my meal. I ordered the migas and specifically reminded the server to mark my order as gluten-free. She confirmed this and even noted "no tortillas" on my order, as they are the source of gluten contamination. When my meal arrived, everything appeared fine. However, about halfway through eating, I discovered a fried tortilla mixed into my eggs--at which point I knew I had been glutened. Shortly after, I started experiencing symptoms and had to rush to the restroom. While I was in the restroom, the rest of my party unknowingly asked for the check. When I returned, I informed the server that I had found not one but two tortillas in my meal and was already experiencing a reaction. I wasn't looking for compensation; I simply wanted to inform her so that this mistake wouldn't happen to someone else with a gluten sensitivity. I fully understand that cross-contamination can happen, but this was not cross-contamination--this was direct contamination. Unfortunately, her response was dismissive. She told me that I should have informed her earlier. I then pointed out that my allergy had been clearly noted on the order and that the food runner had even reassured me that the migas were gluten-free. She continued to insist that I should have said something before she printed the check, but my party defended me, explaining that they had asked for the check and boxes while I was in the restroom, unaware of what had happened. I left feeling incredibly disappointed--not just because of the mistake, but because of how the situation was handled. As someone with celiac disease, I rely on restaurants to take food allergies seriously, and I was deeply let down by both the kitchen's mistake and the server's response. I truly hope that Ruby Slipper improves its handling of food allergies in the future to prevent others from experiencing what I did today. read more

While visiting New Orleans, we stopped by around 10 AM to put our names down for a party of 7. Big mistake, and we knew it. The host was so understanding and explained that it'd be about 2 hours and offered to split us into a table of 3 and 4, possibly near each other, since that division may allow us to be seated in 30-45 mins. We politely declined. We had some cocktails at the bar - the Ruby Slipper ($10, orange pomegranate mimosa) tasted more like a standard mimosa but still delicious - and waited. The bartender was also notably friendly and patient. After we learned that half our party went to the wrong Ruby Slipper and would be late, we told the host we'll take the two tables. They were so accommodating, and about 1.5 hours after arriving, we were seated. Three of the four of us opted for the Costa Rican ($12), which was quite satisfying. I didn't realize the crispy plantains were chips as opposed to fried plantains, but I was pleased with the half an avocado on each plate. In a mix of starvation and delicious food, we all licked our plates clean. Also, as someone who requires no less than 3-4 cups of coffee in the morning to get my day started, our waitress was very attentive and generously refilled our waters and coffees throughout the meal. Our friends for the other table arrived, and I tried the Salmon Benedict, which was rich and flavorful - definitely not a bad option. This was one of my favorite things about visiting New Orleans, my seat mate on flight in told me to go to Ruby Slippers so we went in for brunch the first morning in town, had the sweetest and downright cute waitress named Aurryana who suggested some amazing things I would have not tried. There were just 2 of us but we ordered food for 4-6 and everything was so very delicious! The iced coffee was so good I crave it a week later! The apple pie beignets were out of this world! We have visited New Orleans a number of times. Usually we stay in The Quarter. This time we stayed in The Garden District. A friend recommended this place for brunch and let me tell you that it did not disappoint! It all started when we walked in the door. For our group of 6 it was going to be a 45 minute wait. We decided to order some drinks at the bar. That's when we met Thomas. The guy behind the bar. He was simply amazing. Asked us how many there were and if we would like to sit at the bar instead of waiting. He knew that a group of people where about to leave. We sat down and looked at the menu. It all sounded so good. One ordered the Shrimp Boogaloo Benedict another ordered The Southern Breakfast, The Peacemaker, Costa Rican, Brioche French Toast, and The Southern BLT. Let's just say we all left a little heavier and very much satisfied. Could not have asked for a better experience! We will def be coming back! I typically never write reviews, but this was SO good I had to! My husband and I were greeted by a wonderful host who was very helpful in assisting us in understanding the waitlist. We sat after 30 minutes of waiting, but it was well worth it! Our waitress, Izzy, was so joyful and enthusiastic! She was inventive to our LOADS of questions and answered them patiently and with great responses, unlike some of the other servers at establishments, we have been to. She told me to get the Peacemaker with the Crawfish and Grit cake, and the Chicken St. Charles, and man was she right! My husband is a big guy, so he got the Trifecta which was awesome!! Also, we are typically not day drinkers, but Izzy hyped us up so much, and we both ended up down 4 drinks by the end of the meal. So, we came yesterday and im writing this a bit late.. BUT I had to remember to compliment our server, Aurryana. I came in twice this week (fattie, I know lol) and I had her both times. I even told myself to write a review about her last time I came; but this time really topped it! She has the friendliest, warmest smile and sounds VERY HAPPY to be at work. You don't get that much anymore. Also, sometimes places are hit-or-miss but every single time I've been here, especially the two times this week- the food has been literally freaking amazing! We came here over the weekend to visit Saturday and Sunday and it was absolutely amazing!! The atmosphere, to the host/manager Earl , to our server Jenna, to the food runner and everyone else! The drinks were the watermelon fresher and it was great for the New Orleans heat. Our food was amazing we had the banana foster,beignets and French toast bites as our apps. And the food was all over we had omelets to the trifecta to blts. Thanks for amazing experience and great time. The food was delicious, a wonderful tour of local specialities with excellent presentation. Each food was well balanced, great textures and flavours. We particularly enjoyed the atmosphere, which was more informal than expected. We visited 3 different locations for the ruby slipper during our trip to New Orleans. The atmosphere at the magazine Street location is laid back and happy. Dom, our server, was fantastic and extremely compassionate and quick. When my order wasn't correct he went out of his way to make my brunch perfect! Where to begin... Let's start with Tommy, an amazing young woman that went out of her way to ensure we had a top notch experience! She is lovely, attentive and thoughtful. On to the food... I had a great time today at Ruby Slipper! The food was great. I had the white chocolate bread pudding pancakes which were sinfully delicious. The service was also amazing; from a prompt greeting at the door to the amazing server with her tasteful tattoos, quick-witted humor, menu suggestions, and attention to our need for refills and extra napkins made for an overall top-notch experience. We stopped at Ruby Slipper during our trip, and unfortunately, it wasn't the best experience. The food quality was underwhelming compared to other spots we've tried, and service fell short. Our waitress even spilled our mimosa flight across the table and onto us, which really set the tone for the visit. While in New Orleans with my mom we stopped off to have brunch here at the Ruby Slipper. This place is definitely hopping all the time the line was running out the door. Food was excellent. If you are looking for something different then what you are used to, this is your place. I had the Spanish omelette and my wife had fried chicken on French toast bites.
