I love Rue Bis! i don't generally find myself loved to right a review but it occurred to me today how often I actually go there for lunch and it only seemed fair for me to give them a great review considering how many times they have given me great service. I'm a creature of habit, and i don't eat meat, so for me it's the Hummus Wrap with Cucumber salad every time I go, although ocassionally I'll get whatever soup of the day catches my eye--the black bean is fantastic. I love the fact that get either cucumber salad or oven baked fries with your sandwich, the fries are good but the freshness of the salad can't be beat. I only wish there was more of it. the best part, hands down, about Rue-Bis is the service. They are so friendly and always refer to you by name. Everytime I go I seem to get Shannon, and she is fantastic. All and all, it's a great place. read more

Their chocolate peanut butter cookie totalllllly does it for me. It is craving-inducing. For lunch, I usually order the chopped salad - I like exciting salads, and this one is packed with lots of good stuff. Owned by the same people who owned Rue de L'Espoir on the east side. Friendly service, but usually very slow, even for takeout (I've never eaten in). When I walk in, I never quite know who I should be talking to or ordering from. The sandwiches are good, but not especially memorable. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here but it's not a bad option. Hope to give them another try in the near future, if nothing else, because of the staff. read more

I can't believe I have worked in the Jewelry District (on and off) for just under a decade and haven't been here more often. It is pure laid back honest to goodness yummy fantastic-ness! Carly B has a good point - small staff and lunch can be slammed, but we were seated, and never felt neglected. In fact, one of the kitchen staff came out to take our order when she noticed that the cashier/waitress was overwhelmed at the front! I just thought that was amazing team work, and showed their attention to the customer which completely translated into attention to their food. The asian cucumber salad is to die for. I will be craving this constantly now. The fries are oven roasted, not fried. I had the Frankenstein: a (lightly hot pressed) ciabatta roll, with grilled chicken, fresh mozzarella (and yes- the fresh does make a difference), apple wood smoked bacon, and some other delectable accoutrements. My wonderful lunch companion had the eggplant-parm sandwich, where the 'parm' was actually goat cheese. She was in heaven. Such promise and such great reviews that I had to skip on over to the Jewelry District one morning for a little breakfast with my honey. While cute it its design, there was no music playing which made for awkwardly clankery coming from the kitchen and a few scattered tables of silent diners. Counter to my personality, I followed suit and was mums the word. Breakfast was BLAND. Egg scramblers are served on your choice of bagel, croissant, or crepe - nice, right, love the creativity, but the crepe was inedible. Baked goods look old and lifeless. Stopped in for lunch stood in line for 5 mins just to find out we could have just sat down and they would bring over menus. The staff is friendly but don't seem overly trained on forming a line for takeout and seating those who want to sit at a table. The Turkey club was delicious and came with a side of homemade fries. I've been twice now for lunch and have enjoyed it both times! Plus, the food is affordable. They have a breakfast menu, soup salads, sandwiches, wraps, and paninis, and most plates are $10 or under. They also offer most of their dishes with and without meat (with different prices), which I really appreciate. I also enjoy their oven baked fries that come on the side of the sandwiches, though my boyfriend thinks they're too soft and not crispy enough. After two visits I still haven't entirely figured out if you're supposed to seat yourself. Both times we stood there awkwardly, and then someone brought us to a table. It wasn't entirely clear whether we were supposed to wait or they were just helping since we were just standing there! If anyone's a regular let me know! read more

I was excited to try this place, but was disappointed in the end. My meal was relatively inexpensive and menu seemed reasonably priced. The service was above average, and the staff were friendly and helpful but my palate was not impressed. We ordered a spinach calzone, fries, and a salad for lunch.The spinach calzone was not fresh and did not taste good. Worst of all, the fries were soggy and cold. I strolled down to this place on my lunch break last week. I had gotten take out from here a couple of times and decided to try out the atmosphere. When I walked in I was greeted by a girl behind the counter as she finished helping another customer. She was very friendly and took my order. The atmosphere is relaxing; it feels like a house in the country. I had intended on getting the chopped salad but saw that they served breakfast all day long so I opted for a scramble. It was delicious. Not greasy at all, made with fresh ingredients, and it was a pretty big serving. I'd go back for the same exact meal. The chopped salad that I've had a few times before has also been pretty good each time. Again, very fresh ingredients and prepared to order. The chicken they put on top (if you order it extra) is just a bit bland. Summary: cute place, fresh food, fair prices, unique menu. 4/5 stars for the mere fact that it's a good place, I just wasn't blown away. I'll go back again. read more

The food was very good. I got the half and half with a BBT and the chopped salad. The BBT was delicious, bacon, cheese, tomato, and basil on toasted bread. They made a turkey sandwich for my daughter. It was also good. The pickles are very yummy! The only thing I didn't enjoy was the atmosphere. There was a lot of filth on surfaces. It's bright in the dining room and when you look around there is mess on the table bottoms and the tile tables are clean, but are not pleasant to look at. There is filth all over the trash can near the drinks. For some reason the staff have to go in and out of the back door that is in the dining room. The door slams every time they go in and out. It is not very pleasant. There were fruit flies in the bakery case flying on the muffins. There is a lot of chipped paint on the floor level, that could be touched up. The staff were all very nice! It's worth a visit if you are in the area or visiting the children's museum. read more

Our lunch group was completely surprised by the generosity and kindness of the staff at Rue-Bis. On 11/18/13, our 5 lab members had to evacuate our building due to manhole explosions in the surrounding streets. Without access to any of our lunches, we made our way to Rue Bis, just two blocks away, to try it for the first time. The ambience was pleasant, with a clean set-up and nice setting on the tables and at the bar. All 5 of us ordered different entrees, which were: Caesar salad with grilled chicken, french toast, scrambled egg breakfast burrito, the spinach and feta egg sandwich on sweetbread muffin, and the tomato, basil, and mozzarella egg sandwich on a bagel. Given that all of us ordered at the same time, the entrees all came out together with surprising promptness. The salad was a large portion with generous strips of fresh, hearty chicken strips. The two egg sandwiches had well-fried eggs, a large serving of feta or mozzarella, and were neatly arranged. The french toast was also large-sized and came with powdered sugar and unlimited maple syrup. Finally, the breakfast burrito was a great deal for the price; it was overfilling with fresh contents and filled up an entire large plate. However, our biggest surprise came next - as we finished up all of our meals, our server came by the table and told us that all of our food was on the house! It was a completely unexpected surprise and a very generous gesture. Thank you to Rue Bis for the wonderful, tasty experience, for what would have been a very affordable price! Go on Tuesdays for an awesome burrito! I love this place- I've had everything on the menu and loved it all. My faves are definitely the Tuesday burrito or the turkey sandwich. i want to love you rue bis. really i do. but every time i go in you are out of something/not have something on this particular day... probably my fault but I can't remember what you serve on which days... i've used you for catering many times and you are fantastic at that 5 starts all the way on that end--- on time, great product+ work really well with budgets! I think if you run our of your soup by 12 noon on a freezing day... maybe make more... maybe take it off the specials sign... maybe don't taunt me... so sad. The food here is delicious but a little pricey for a lunch place. I'll be back because the staff is really nice + it isn't a chain so it makes sense that they run out from time to time... actually I hate to say this but it just makes me want it more. please have the burrito every day. please. street parking is tough in this area. if you need a little lunch time bite in their house or in yours, this is your kinda place. read more

This place is honesty about a 2 1/2 for me. A whole lot different than what I thought I was walking into. The place is warm and inviting, and it's probably my own fault but I was expecting something a bit more. A bit more what I'm not really sure but I had fairly lofty expectations. Talk about slow service, sheesh. It must have taken us 20 minutes to order our food when we came in yesterday. Then when we were done, we had to go to the counter to get a check. But the food was good, so I'd rather them just be a take-out place with chairs instead of pretending to be a full-service sit-down restaurant. Anyway, the tuna wrap and beef panini were both good and the lady's take-out chai was too. $38 for lunch was a bit much though, considering we just got sandwiches with chips, a soup and a couple of sodas. read more

I usually buy treats for my son after Children's Museum here. Its a decent place, with good food, and some new menu proposals and the staff really caters to your needs. All in all its a nice place to come for breakfast or brunch... Their croissant is home-made and a must-have.... I would like to advise them to pay attention to their coffee as most of the times it has this burned taste. I think with a little work this place can be a five star place... read more

Atmosphere was great! It's a order at the counter kind of place but serve when the place gets busy and the food is great! Went with a toddler and got a plain jane aka a grilled cheese and the eggplant panini. Ordered both fries and cuke salad with our sandwiches and both were great as well, very evident that the fries were hand made. It's a across the street from the children's museum and easy to access. Left the house yesterday with huevos rancheros in my mind, unfortunately when I got to olgas, it was already too late. Someone there was kind enough to point me toward Rue Bis, where I haven't been in years. My friend and I sat at the bar and were really impressed by the prices on the menu, as well as the dishes we saw coming out to the few other customers. The two girls working the front were super friendly... and not in that fake waitstaff way. They were laughing with each other and the kitchen, and clearly just enjoyed their job. It was really refreshing and welcoming. I was ready to order the breakfast burrito when I mentioned my original goal to our server, Marisa. She basically just told me they'd make me huevos rancheros, without questions. When our food came, we couldn't stop talking about it for most of the meal. My friend wound up with the breakfast burrito, which he said was as fantastic as it looked. The tortilla was really fresh, nicely packed, and just really fresh ingredients. My huevos rancheros were absolutely the best I've ever had. 5 mini tomato chili tortillas, each with beans spread individually across them, 3 perfectly cooked eggs over easy, and a side dish with fresh salsa, guac, and shredded cheese. EVERYTHING was so fresh and flavorful, and both dishes were plated beautifully. I'm really sorry to recommend a restaurant in town based on a dish that wasn't even on their menu. Their breakfast burrito is about 7 bucks. I'm used to getting lower quality food, in a less friendly atmosphere, and having to pay almost twice as much. I didn't realize that the wave of Providence breakfast places had changed my expectations so much, but it's nice to set them back to higher standards. I'll be back, very soon. read more

We took some out of town guests to Rue Bis on July 23 because we had heard good things about it and we were so disappointed. The service was terrible. The waitress spilled water on our table. The food was worst. The chicken salad was tasteless, shredded mush. Everything we ordered was poor quality. We won't be back. read more

I went to Rue Bis for breakfast last week and wow! It was awesome. You can smell the apple wood smoked bacon from you seat. I got the egg special and my husband got the breakfast burrito and both were fantastic! Soooo good, everything is really fresh and the waitstaff is great. They have some wonderfully skilled staff in the kitchen too. The food is out standing and they definitely don't skimp on the portions. The coffee is good and hot and the waitstaff was really attentive to the level in the cup (but not annoying about it) The meals are all perfectly portioned and they are pretty kid friendly too. This is my go to breakfast place. It is worth the drive from anywhere! read more

I have been a customer here for four-plus years. During this time they have relocated and revamped the menu, but this is still one of the friendliest places in the Jewelry-now-known-as-Knowledge district. Great soups every day, the chopped salad is a meal in and of itself and the burritos and mini-meals are EXCELLENT. If you go there twice they will know your name the third time, I kid you not. Get on the mailing list for daily specials and buy a cup--the refill prices are amazing! Great chai and mochas too. Just be sure to bring quarters for parking because the District meter maid is ever-vigilant and merciless. read more

I've never actually been inside this place, so please keep this in mind when reading. I don't know anything about their service or atmosphere and won't be speaking to that. My job orders lunch from here once a week, and this is the day we all dread. The majority of sandwiches ordered end up in the trash. I appreciate that they make an attempt to create a gluten-free option for me and another girl with the same allergies. I do. However, these wraps are often falling apart and ripped up. Not entirely sure how that happens, but I tend to ignore it. Even prior to learning about my allergy, these sandwiches and wraps were inedible. The meat is always dried out and typically feels like rubber. The cheese is caked on and cold. Today I was given a piece of dry turkey with cold cheese, tomatoes and a mayo packet on top in a box. I mean, I typically hate it when we order from this place but... Jesus Christ, come on. read more
