On two more visits here I enjoyed A6 Handmade Steamed Pork Dumplings, plump Fried Shrimps, Vegetable Rolls, a good but small Rainbow Roll, very good Crab Rangoon, fine Hot & Sour Soup, and good Wor Wonton Soup with a plentiful amount of filled wontons and shrimp to start. On both occasions the soup was very salty, and one time my blood pressure soared a few hours later likely as a result. Pepper Steak featured tender lengths of beef, and Stir Fry Beef in Oyster Sauce with Mushrooms was good with very tender beef but included relatively tough vegetables. Others at my table enjoyed good Orange Chicken and well-prepared Honey Walnut Shrimp. Steamed White Rice accompanied the entrees. And helping to wash everything down was excellent Jasmine Tea. I came here for lunch with my coworkers, we ordered minced pork with vermicelli, Wor Wonton soup, beef and vegetables, Tempura green beans along with Walnut shrimp, each order was delicious. Each had a unique and tasty flavor. Service was excellent! The restaurant was very peaceful and the seats were very comfortable. The food was received Hot, and in a very timely manner. We went into Rui's today and left flabbergasted with no food. We sat down and ordered drinks. Fifteen minutes later the waiter comes over to take our order. I order noodles, beef and my boyfriend wants to order off the new sushi menu. The waiter says, I don't know what that is pick something else. I say he wants to order that? Interesting place. They've got about 20 parking spots for a restaurant that can probably hold over 150 people. So look to walk about a half a mile to get to the restaurant when parking is full. It looks like it almost was a karaoke bar, with the stage, but that didn't pan out so they serve Chinese food. It wasn't that bad, I felt a little bit bad for our server. She was running around with a few large tables, and it looked like it was limited staff. The person who brought us our wanton soup was classic. He Put the bowl of wonton soup down, but no bowls to eat it with. By the time those came, we asked twice, we had to send the soup back because it was ice cold. So that kind of tells you how the meal went. Lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of broth, a few wontons with a couple carrots. I will say the broth was very good. read more

If you are looking for authentic chinese food i would not recommend this place. Place- nice area, clean service- got annoyed because once they delivered the food halfway they just dropped the check.. We were not even done and we did order dessert so the server took the check and then when he delivered the dessert he dropped the check again. I feel like we are being rushed. honey walnut shrimp- shrimp inside was kind of mushy and too much breading. ( the sauce is like with orange flavoring) did not like it singapore rice noodle- was actually pretty good. The spice was just right beef roll- too oily and the wrap is very loosely done. This place is a super solid option to go to! If you're in the mood for Chinese food and fast service this is the spot. I walked inside and was surprised at how big the restaurant was and there were plenty of seats. The hostess was very kind and courteous to lead us to our table. The waitress took our order and no kidding it came out in 7 min. They have a really extensive menu with 6 pages of various Chinese foods including dessert, boba, and even sushi. We ordered the Dan Dan noodles, honey walnut chicken, sesame chicken, and scallion pancakes. Food was super delicious and the check was a reasonable price. Was good the first time we came but has sadly gone down hill since then. Ordered multiple dishes and didn't even receive two of them. Seriously understaffed on a holiday- Valentine's Day no less when people will clearly be eating dinner at a restaurant. They have robot waiters sending out food. Nothing comes at the same time. I had sizzling beef that came before we had any rice so I had to choose to eat it without rice or eat it cold. When we finally did get fried rice it tasted like cheap takeout place but costs 4x as much. Wife wanted red bean buns that never came after 45 mins. No refills on drinks the entire time. $75 for 6oz of beef, bad fried rice, fried pork, slow (bad?) service. I can't in good conscience recommend this place anymore. read more

Came here on a Sunday for lunch. The dining room was full with the option for half booths and tables. The restaurant had nice high ceilings and lots of items available on the menu. Service was prompt and we were given everything we needed with the exception of no chopsticks with the sushi. We ordered a bowl of the hot and sour soup, yellowtail sashimi, sizzling beef with black pepper and orange beef. This was served with complementary rice. The hot and sour soup was authentic and a good portion. Served a total of about 5/6 cups. The yellowtail was good but still needed to thaw a little bit. The orange beef had a great crunchy texture and the sizzling beef was tender served with carrots and onion. The rice was good quality and sticky. We would return. The cuisine was very good and the prices were fair. We also appreciated that the tables were not on top of each other. We hope for a little improvement with the sushi. read more

Slightly better than Panda Express. Redlands is a quaint little town, I wasn't expecting much so this place exceeded my low expectations. One of the ways you know a Chinese place is legit is cheesy decorations that don't coincide with the holiday. I stopped by in January and they had both Easter & Christmas decorations. We had the KungPow Chicken, green Onion pancakes(which were decent), peach Buns, red bean ball, egg drop soup, beef noodles (w/ no beef?), some tea & a Korean IPA. This is where the bad service came in. First off I'm an Asian, sure I came with a tall blonde white girl, but they didn't offer me chopsticks . It's fair to assume a white girl doesn't know how to use them but I'm ASIAN ‍ what's with the fork? 2nd thing is I ordered a Korean IPA which I was looking fwd to. I had to ask for a glass. When I poured it I was surprised it was dark. I looked at the bottle and though most of it was in Korean it clearly said "DARK ALE". I called the waiter over and he tried to convince me that they only had 2 Korean beers and this was their IPA. I asked to see the other bottle and it said "PALE ALE". He STILL tried to convince me that the bottle served was the correct IPA. The girl I was with said "IPA stands for Imperial PALE ALE."He finally relented and let me have what I ordered. He then proceeded to avoid our table the rest of the meal. In the last 5 minutes he pulled some wooden chopsticks from his apron and said "would you like some chopsticks?" I gave him a sarcastic smile and said "I did, but I'm kinda done with my meal. Would've been handy earlier." I still gave them a 20% tip. Will I ever go here again? If I continue dating that girl probably, because she likes it, and I have low expectations for service at a Chinese restaurant. Based on the generally good reviews here on Yelp, I was looking forward to trying Rui's. Overall, I feel that the food was tasty but with some need for improvement. We started with an order of crab Rangoon that was on the bland side. It seemed to be nothing but imitation crab mixed with cream cheese. There was no green onion or seasoning that I could discern. My companion was not all that familiar with Chinese food and also a bit shy about trying new dishes. He ordered the sweet and sour shrimp. The shrimp dish was plentiful and the shrimps properly cooked, but the sweet and sour sauce had too much ketchup in it, so it didn't taste like much more than that. I ordered the orange chicken which was very good. The pieces were plump and nicely fried and tossed in a tangy orange sauce. My friend agreed that it was the better choice. For dessert, we split a slice of blueberry cheesecake that was thick, dense and delicious. Rui's makes cocktails with low-alcohol spirits distilled from wine. I had a Lemon Drop martini that was OK but definitely tasted different than one made with real vodka. I don' t think I would order it again. Service was attentive, and our waiter was very patient about explaining the finer points of each dish my friend considered. I will go back, but next time I want to order more savory and adventurous dishes. read more

I used to frequent this restaurant at its previous location but hadn't had the chance to visit their new spot until recently. Upon entering, I was pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness of their new location. It was not busy at all when my friend and I arrived. We received a warm greeting and were promptly seated. Our waitress was very patient as we perused their extensive menu, which I appreciated. The menu was well-designed with plenty of photos and options. We decided on the eggplant with garlic sauce, opting for no spice since my friend can't handle spicy food, and the salt and pepper short ribs. While waiting for our entrees, I admired the modern aesthetic of the restaurant. My favorite decoration was the ceiling with koi fish-shaped lights. As for the food, I personally loved the eggplant. It was cooked perfectly tender and coated in a flavorful garlicky soy sauce. The short ribs initially appeared dry, but we discovered that dipping them in the accompanying sauce made a significant difference in flavor. I would love to get the recipe for that sauce! I went with a party of 11 on a Friday night and there were many other medium-large parties there at the same time. That being said, I felt the staff was on top of things to the best of their ability while still being friendly! They continuously attended to us and despite the business, most of our food didn't take too long to come out. For the appetizers, their edamame is well seasoned (try dipping it in the sauce that comes with the fried dumplings!), and their veggie egg rolls are pretty classic in a good way! The scallion pancake is one of the better restaurant scallion pancakes I've had. Good dough and not too greasy. The entree I got was the fried home style tofu. It was a pretty standard house sauce and dish overall. It also wasn't spicy despite the chili signage next to its name on the menu. I also tried the Mapo tofu. My two friends met together for lunch during Spring Break at the insistence of one of my friends who had dined there before. Even though there were Bento box options, we opted to eat family style and ordered several dishes, including garlic green beans and garlic Chinese broccoli for those of us who require vegetables in our diet. Dishes come with steamed rice. The food was excellent, especially the orange chicken, which was better prepared than the kind you find in the more fast food type Chinese restaurants. Best advice? Do NOT do take out during rush hour when they're very busy. Decided to give this place another try and do everything different. For our first time here, we ordered take out - food was bland, wait time was horrendous, and service subpar. We wanted to give this place a legitimate shot, so we decided to come earlier to avoid the rush and sit down for a meal. Extremely glad we did! Service was much better and more attentive. Ambience and environment inside feels welcoming and classy, creative decorations in front waiting area, clean dining areas and bathrooms, and tables were spaced out nicely to enjoy your meal privately. Food was way better compared to our first time - spicy eggplant was delicious, this time they had ginger with the sauces for steamed dumplings, fried rice with shrimp was incredible and not too salty or bland, takoyaki was mouth watering (don't have to go far anymore!), and their snow shaving desert (Taro with red bean) closed out our meal nicely! Wasn't a fan of their roast duck as I'd compared it to the succulence of Honk Kong BBQ's roast duck - was a bit dry with parts that were a bit tough, not tender or juicy the way we prefer it. Very happy we decided to give this another go. Lesson learned - don't do take out and try to avoid the rush. Tried various dishes and food was good, I'd say 7/10. The serving sizes are fair for the price. The staff was friendly and we were seated right away even though it was busy on a Saturday afternoon. We got seated on the smaller dinning side by the bar. It felt a bit more intimate than the open seating area they have on the other side near the restrooms. The place was nicely decorated and the chairs felt very comfortable! Reason why I knocked down a star was because the dishes came in waves. Took about 10 minutes in between each dish arriving so it was hard to eat as a family at the same time. This is the first time we've been to their new location. It's open and airy inside, but parking is tough. Our server was quick but not very attentive (he intentionally left dirty dishes - looked at them and walked away empty handed, our appetizer was the last to be served and one of our main dishes was served barely warm, portions of which was cold.) The Pork Shumai (A2) was quite large and served in a steam basket which kept it quite hot. These are cooked dough "baskets" with savory ground pork - quite tasty and filling. We also shared the Crisp Orange Beef (H2). It had an incredibly orange flavor that was in a sweet sauce. The beef was cooked quite a bit and was very thinly sliced. The coating was a bit crunchy with the sauce breaking that down. We've ordered the Triple Delight In Garlic Sauce (C20) for delivery before. The garlic flavor was quite mild. Wow this place has an insanely diverse menu and really good service! Came here for a work event and I got to try a LOT of their menu courtesy of my friends orders too. They do very well on more traditional Chinese dishes but the XLB was extremely dry and not soupy and had a strong pork aftertaste and the coconut shrimp has sprinkles on it? My friend from the Midwest LOVED it though so there is a dish for everyone. My favorite was the braised pork belly it was done to perfection! read more

My partner and I are so happy we gave this place a try because we left feeling so satisfied with all the yummy food we tried! We ordered way too much food but also - portions were huge and definitely worth it! Prices were excellent and affordable.
