We went to RuRus with a family group. We didn't have to wait long for indoor seating but the outdoor patio is small and was packed when we went. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The bar is located at the front with large booths surrounding it, making the noise level about average for this type of scene.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered the Skinny Mike Margharitas and tacos, bowls and other items. The waiter was really nice. The drinks were really good, but some of the food items were eh. The spicy tacos were really good along with the chips and guacamole. The main issue for a 4/5 was the chicken was good but dry and some of the avocado slices were brown. Overall, it was a good time and good food.

Passing through Charleston we were craving Mexican food. We had high hopes as RuRu's was in a fantastic location in downtown. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Outside seating, which we love, but on this day it was extremely hot and so humid, so we opted for indoors.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were greeted and seated promptly when we arrived and our waitress was friendly and very attentive. Now, the 3 stars go to the service, zero for food and drinks. Our tacos were just meh. The meat was dry and our drinks, I probably could have made them better, and I'm no mixologist. Now, they do have fresh chips and delicious salsa, nothing spicy but very flavorful. We definitely would not stop here again, especially being from California we know good Mexican food. Cheers!

Love the tacos and margaritas. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inviting location with friendly, happy employees.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Adi seems to be able to remember the names of all of the customers. My favorite is the seared ahi tuna with sesame crust, pickled cabbage, Wasabi cream, avocado and cilantro (Run Forrest Run). My guy likes the taco with seasoned ground beef, cheddar cheese, lettuce, Pico de Gallo and lime crema (Why So Serious). The salsa, queso and quacamole and tortilla chips (Three Amigos) are delicious also. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The establishment is fun, clean and you can be seated outside too.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] One of our fav place in town.

Good food, reasonably priced, slower service so be ready to have a slow down in your day. Had lunch on a Tuesday so maybe that is why service was slower? Looks like Happy Hour is a good deal! Would eat here again.

Coming from California it's always a challenge finding "good" Mexican food. This place was alright - lacked flavor in my opinion and wasn't all that right in terms of flavors either. They do recommend getting a pitcher for margs but the pitcher has SOOO much ice in it. The service was fine - our server was nice. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place overall is fairly casual and people just stop by with friends and family.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Stopped by to grab drinks before dinner at another restaurant and we weren't disappointed! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Yummy drinks, laid back vibes, and friendly staff![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food smelled and looked amazing and I wish I could have tried some, but will do that next time I'm in Charleston!

Came here with a friend while visiting Charleston. We came during happy hours and ordered the margaritas and chips and queso dip to munch on. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Sat at the tables street side, and enjoyed the view of the city.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Staff was friendly and was a nice time. Thanks for having us.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Fun place to go.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Good was food. Staff were very attentive. Tacos are a good size and very tasty. Love the drink options. I would uber if you don't live close by cause parking is hard to come by.

Food was just fine, could have been more flavorful, needed more heat. Nothing to write home about. Service was lacking. They concentrated more on the people who sat outside. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe of the restaurant was awesome, loved the artwork.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The tacos are the bomb.com! Our bartender was awesome and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the Olympics were played on the TV[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We sat here and enjoyed our lunch for hours.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I definitely recommend stopping here while in the French Quarter.

The queso was great but this was the most white taco place I've ever been to. I enjoyed everything I ate but there wasn't that spicy Mexican taste you get at most taco places. The service was nice but they kept forgetting the things we asked for, although we had slightly complex orders with a few alterations. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I liked the decor but the music felt a little out of place, it was like 2015 pop music.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Basic Mexican! Not the worst but not the best. A little bit of a tourist trap close to the water!

The guacamole was exactly what great guacamole should be, creamy with just the right amount of texture, perfectly ripe avocados, fresh lime, and balanced seasoning that made it hard to stop eating. The Spanish rice, tomatillo sauce, and pinto beans were all equally delicious and clearly made with care and attention to flavor. We sat at the bar and really enjoyed chatting with our friendly and enthusiastic bartender, which made the experience even more memorable. Service, atmosphere, and food were all outstanding. While the queso and the meat were good (not much of it though), everything else left a lot to be desired. The sauces were not good and kind of ruined the food for me. To start we ordered the trio: guac, queso, and salsa + chips and the quesadilla. The Trio was good, about what you'd expect for chips and salsa at most places. The quesadilla was quite good as well. I ordered the Lobster roll (forgot complete name) and the Tsunami roll. Both of my rolls were incredible. They were very nice, 10/10 rolls. The fish was fresh, and the flavors were on point. All of my friends also enjoyed the rolls they ordered. I also ordered the fish collar tacos, which is easily the best bang for your buck on the menu. The plate only costs $14 and it comes with 2 fat fish collars, not sure what species, forgot to ask, if I had to guess I would say grouper or cobia. These collars are beautiful fried and loaded with meat. Additionally the plate comes with some lettuce, cilantro, lime, pineapple pico, sauce, and 3 flour tortillas. If you don't mind getting your hands a little dirty to separate the meat from bone, you will get three very very filled fish tacos and have meat to spare. Needless to say, the fish collar tacos were delicious and very well priced. All in all, I had a good time; the service was phenomenal, drinks were constantly being refilled, and there's really nothing to complain about. Great experience!

Fortunately we were early enough to get a place to sit before the line formed out the door. The biggest complaint was the service. They appeared to be terribly understaffed for even a regular day. Service was sooooo slow. Hard to get even water refills. The food did arrive hot. It was very typical Mexican style food. I had a chicken macho burrito. The chicken was overcooked and it had a two shrimp in the filling. Fortunately I have no allergies to shellfish and actually like shrimp but his could have been disastrous for someone else. The restaurant was very loud and could also use some updates. In spite of the large crowd, and being grossly overworked, the staff remained helpful and friendly to the best of their ability which I give them kudos for considering the situation. And while I didn't get one this time, their skinny margs are some of the best on the peninsula. Highly recommend. It's always very clean and prices are cheap!

Everything is flavorful and just the right portion size, making it easy to mix and match different tacos each visit. Bartaco is almost always busy, so expect a 10-30 minute wait during peak times.
