Ordered through Yelp. Got the Tammy pizza (12.50) which was pretty tasty. Not my favorite but worth 3 stars. The true standout however, was the eggplant rollitini! I had a hankering for pizza, but didn't want to trek down to two boots. I got the rollitini as an after thought and omg delicious. Actual thin pieces of eggplant, nicely breaded, ricotta in the middle and a yummy red sauce on top. Also, on delivery: the eatimated deliver time was 11:03, my delivery arrived at 10:43--so early. When it comes to any type of delivery it can be hit or miss so if it's your first time ordering, don't assume that delivery will be a fail. read more

Had to leave a review because I saw they only have a 3.5 star rating...... HOW... this is actually the best pizza I've ever had in my life. Not just my opinion either, but the opinion of everyone I've ever brought there/ordered for. My parents drive an hour to visit me in jersey city but the joke is they actually just come for a pizza (no seriously they actually just come for the pizza). Kidding aside, the pizza here is so delicious. They make their own homemade mozzarella, and all the toppings they put on the pizza are super fresh! We order a pepperoni, olive, mushroom and onion pie and it's heavenly. They don't use those dry/fake olives that most pizza places use and they even take it a step further and caramelize their onions..... and don't get me started about the sauce, so so so good. This review is loooong overdue. For my husband and me, this is our go-to pizza place. If we want fancy neopolitan-style and want to spend a few more bucks and get a nice cocktail and more upbeat service, then we go to Razza. But if we're both too tired to cook dinner and want to treat ourselves to a solid Margherita pie, it's Rustique without a question. Rustique is at the top of our list of "high quality at the best price" places in Jersey City. So, the food. Embarrassingly, we only ever order the large margherita pie. We've ordered salad once before (quality balsamic dressing on a pretty basic salad of greens), and another time we ordered an appetizer special of raw clams (fantastic; so glad we happened to stumble in that night!), but our never-fail routine is the margherita. And we could go on and on about it. Every single component about the margherita is near-perfection, so I'll go in order from perfection to pretty-good: the Mozz: perfection. They make it themselves, and it's just....so. good. the Basil: perfection. I don't know what kind of basil they use, but the thin little strips pack a powerful basil punch. the Sauce: used-to-be-perfection, now pretty good. I don't know if they changed something about the sauce in the last 6 months or so, but it used to be an absolutely incredible balance of sweetness, tartness, and savoriness. Now the sauce is still great, but just not quite as magical as before. the Crust: pretty good. Tends to be on the "bready" side of the pizza crust realm whereas I prefer something with a little more chew In sum, the margherita pie as a whole is greater than the sum of its individual components. It's what brings us back for our (at least) monthly Rustique dinner. Other aspects: Service can range from dull to decent. (However, we had a refreshingly upbeat and friendly server the last time we went, ~early Sept. 2013) I really wish they'd do away with that TV and the bar area...I think it would do wonders to the ambience. read more

DO NOT ORDER ONLINE! Especially through yelp. Oh my goodness. I ordered through Yelp and it says it when through and that I would get an email with a confirmation code. Did not get it. I called the place and the guy who answered didn't help at all. He was on something idk man. He was like uhhhhh call grub hub cuz I don't see your order on the computer. I contacted Yelp, eat24, they chatted live with me and corrected my order. Said I had to pick it up but I asked for delivery fee. And I already got charged on my card. Fixed that. Not only did I wait long for the food, the delivery guy went to 1L when I live at 3L and my neighbor from 2L called me and told me she has my food cuz the person from 1L told her the food might be hers. Ordered from seamless and time estimated for delivery was 60 minutes. I waited and when it had already been an hour, I called to ask what's going on. Lady told me the delivery guy had just left with my order and estimated my delivery time in 25-30 minutes. Of course I went off and yelled and magically order was delivered in 5 minutes. Ordered a Margherita and white pizza. Both pizzas were cold and crust undercooked. The sauce on margherita pizza was disgusting, not even the quality of jar store bought, and overly salty. The white pizza was a tiny bit better but I guess relative to the salty margherita, anything seemed better. Will never order from this place again and I don't think you should either! First time ordering from this place and thru yelp. Quite happy with both the food and the delivery. We ordered a large margherita pizza and a small white one with some toppings (onions, hot cherry pepper). Also a side of buffalo wings. The pizzas were far above average and quite tasty. Crust was thin and the ends were well cooked. Cheese was not running and we (three adults and one kid) finished them all. I did not taste the buffalo wings but the persons who did liked them. Delivery was thru yelp's website and I picked an hour later; pleasantly surprised when the doorbell rang at the precise time. Will certainly order from here again! read more

HUGE fan! I've been a fan for years, and love that they're now in my neighborhood so I don't have to walk over to Morris street anymore. The old owners were a bit crazy, and I stopped ordering delivery from them because it was consistenly burnt and cold. But the new owner seems great, and I'm glad they kept things pretty much the same. The woman who usually answers the phone and the delivery guy are so nice. Easily the best pizza in the area, for a decent price. Never greasy or overloaded with cheese, it's great. Only cons is that it doesn't re-heat well, the sauce always dries out, but that's just another reason to eat the whole thing in one sitting. read more

My go to place for posh pizza in Jersey City. I have to say - sometimes I just want normal greasy slice and that is not what you get here! They use fresh mozzarella and basil and its oh-so good! I finished a business trip in NY then met friends in Jersey City for a nice neibhour hood style dinner today (Saturday).Picked a place right near my friend Henry's/Enrique's house. The restaurant served a perfect style thin crust pizza with yummy mozzarella cheese and fresh tomato toping. Probability a better pizza than I've ever had. Dinner was served at a nice but simple outdoor table. Staff was friendly. Simple but perfect place for local Italian in Jersey City thus 5 stars. read more

Don't order the Buffalo Chicken Pizza or French fries. The pizza had the sauce over the very thin cheese under it while barely topped with buffalo flavor chicken. Yeah, I barely ate one slice before admitting I couldn't continue to finish it. The fries were thin and "watery", as is when you mistakenly order them for delivery. Rustique Pizza is no longer an Italian restaurant. They have the same name and menu with some things crossed off but there is nothing Italian about the food. I ordered an Italian sausage hero. It was horrible. I had to toss it in the garbage after a few bites. The bread was even overcooked. I have never seen bread like that. I asked for extra tomato sauce on the sandwich and received a little sauce on the side. They still have the brick oven going in there and making pizzas also. But that doesn't make it Italian. read more

I was looking for the real Italian pizza. Definitely didn't find it here. It was ok but definitely not what I expected.

I picked up a slice of sicilian that in my mind hit all of the ideal requirements for a great slice. Solid crisp crust, soft flaky center, and delicious toppings without making the slice too soggy. Definitely my favorite item that I got. Sometimes in life, a person just needs a slice of pizza. When a person wants those food stuffs, they want them good, fresh and hot. That is exactly what I got when I went to Brickhouse Pizzeria on the first nice day in a while. It took a few minutes for the slices to come out but it was worth it. I can say that I'll definitely be coming out here and look forward to when it gets nice out and they open up the front windows.a read more

If you want personalized, very high quality service, Rustique is as good as it gets in Jersey City. The food includes well-done classic Italian flavors, and every time I eat Rustique's pizza I am very impressed, but last night I had the best service experience I can ever remember. I was part of a very large group getting together for a friend's birthday dinner, and the staff at Rustique was very, very accommodating. The manager custom built a family-style menu for us right on the spot so we didn't have to worry with ordering! He made everything about the experience super easy and hassle-free for all of us, plus everything he chose tasted fantastic. This restaurant originally started as a small takeout joint on Morris St. Now located at a corner street location on Jersey Ave., the food is as good as ever. PLS. NOTE THAT THE 4-STAR RATING IS CONDITIONAL (see below for details). PROS: * Very good thin crust pizzas. Their pizza margarita comes very close to those in Italy (the closest I've found in NJ is at a place I believe that's called "Pizza Cafe" in Nutley). * Absolutely the BEST buffalo wings, w/the perfect balance of spiciness and consistency (not drippy or soggy at all). For some reason, it's not listed on the menu so make sure you ask for it. * Pastas are pretty good as well - the rigatoni ala vodka isn't too creamy as usually is the case in most places. Other dishes such as the chicken marsala is worth ordering as well. * Salads are usually an afterthought or something obligatory to have on a menu, but here, they're actually very good. Highly recommended is the salad w/mushrooms & mozzarella. * They mozzarella is freshly made which is sliced thick and is firm ( yet light tasting at the same time). Absolutely delicious. CONS: * The quality of the food served is dependent on the people who serve it. Here, the food is excellent but there were a couple of occasions that it was ruined because of the service, in particular, due to a blond lady who has represented herself as being the owner. I'll spare you some of the details but suffice is to say, she has been argumentative and hostile on more than one occasion. Also, she likes to sit you where SHE wants you to sit (near the windows for others to see that they have customers) and balked at my request to turn on one of lights since the area where we were sitting was dark. Another yelp reviewer's description of her as being "psycho" and perhaps 'being off her meds' is quite telling. That's not to say that she's always like that since there are some days that she's actually friendly. As such, this 4-star rating may very well be downgraded if she's the one serving you. * Although the restrooms are artfully decorated, there's no hot water. read more

Everything was perfect from the dough/crust to the sauce to the mozzarella and the touch of fresh basil! Delivery was so fast too - when I called they told me 45 minutes and it was here in 30 minutes. Here are some unacceptable service I encountered: * I was initially told that it was cash only. So, I asked where the nearest ATM was, but received a rude "don't know" response. I should have left at this point, but I wanted to give it a chance- plus I was starving. While I was having my meal, I was then told that they do accept debit cards. I was blatantly lied to! * I wanted tap water with my order, but I noticed that she was billing me for spring water. So, I corrected the order then she proceeded to crumble and throw the order receipt in the garbage with a huge attitude. * My order arrived an hour later with a huge chunk of white ceramic tile on top. * The bill was never brought to me. I had to eventually go to the cashier to pay. Needless to say, I did not leave a tip! Looking back, my pizza should have been free for the ceramic tile incident. But I was not in a combative mood and the owners of this place clearly have serious issues that need to be dealt with. This establishment needs a drastic change ASAP. $20 is what it will cost you for a super thin personal pie with 3 toppings. You'll still be hungry afterwards and it's not cheap by any means, but fresh and good. We're talking fresh basil, fresh cheese, EVOO, the works. I know the previous owner of this joint. She sold it the biz a few years back to the current owner and I have to say, it has maintained its integrity. They sell fresh baguettes for $2/ea and offer refrigerated premade pasta dishes and soups to go. The pasta dishes are roughly $8/ea but good. Probably the best Italian place in Jersey City. Even though that's not saying much, there's a reason why this place has been in business for so many years. read more

So, yes -- the food here is very good. The other local Italian places are lacking what La Rustique offers. The vodka sauce is excellent and the homemade bread is great. But...the biggest drawback are the owners, who are nasty and don't give a rat's as*. We have ordered from here multiple times and have never had a problem until two nights ago. I ordered at 8pm (penne vodka and a chicken cutlet sandwich), the guy Charlie (supposedly owner) was snotty and socially awkward on the phone. The order wasn't here at 8:55pm and he had said 30 minutes. It was late and we were getting hungry. It came and...to my shock, the penne vodka was black. I'm talking fully burned. I don't know how someone could have put that into a to-go container, seeing that it was so completely cremated!!! The sandwich was a mess! The bread was not the usual homemade bread, but some nasty store-bought crap. I wouldn't mind as much about the bread, but the prices here aren't cheap and we expect a certain level of quality, that's why we choose to order from there. I called them and was told that the owner wasn't around. After I explained my situation, the guy said, hold on and I could hear him talking to someone in the background. The guy said he didn't want to get on the phone with me. Finally I INSISTED that he talk to me and he did. He was nasty with me and didn't seem to care about the food that was burned. He said he'd send another penne vodka over and a chicken parm dinner. Ok. That seemed reasonable. The second order arrives...it is now almost 10pm and we are STARVING. I open the container and the penne vodka is burned AGAIN!! To the point that it is no longer edible (even if you planned to pick around the burned pasta...). The chicken parm was chicken marsala (with the brown sauce) with red sauce dumped on top and some mozzarella cheese thrown on there. It was DISGUSTING. I called for the third time and they said the owner was gone for the night. I told the guy I spoke with that the food was inedible and how pissed I was!!! He didn't have much to say... 10 minutes later Charlie (owner?) called me back and said he had been downstairs. I told him whole story and he was silent. I asked if the usual chef had left because this was so clearly not how it normally is there. He said, laughing mind you, that his cook was on vacation. Umm...ok. That would be funny if I hadn't been starving for 2 hours and now it was too late to order anywhere else local and we couldn't go out because our 4 month old was sleeping. So, thanks La Rustique. Supposedly, he said he would reverse my credit card charges, but that hasn't gone through yet. How do you have a business if you really don't care about the customers or the service you are giving them?? Looks like the reviews are true!!!!! Went on a Saturday afternoon at around 3pm and the door was locked. The guy inside opens the door and asks me what I want??? Maybe pizza at a pizzeria i say to myself??? He let's me in and I ask for 3 slices to go. He reaches for a pie from under the counter that I notice is burned so bad a dog wouldn't it eat it I proceed to ask this kind soul if he has any fresh pies as this one is badly burnt and probably left over from the night before. He tells me, what, I need to make a new pie for you?? I just look at him and walk out the door, wouldnt give him the satisfaction of a response. At this rate, with all the negative reviews here and treating customers in this manor the only pies he will be making in the future are the ones made at home in his kitchen,,,,stay away from this place,,,people like this don't deserve your time and business !!! read more

Ordered around 10:30pm so not a busy time for them. Pizza came quite quick although was cold when I opened it. Not just a little but way to cold. Had to warm it up in my oven. Tasted good after that so i am going to give it a second try. read more
