This is a matcha-only review I was originally intrigued by this shop because the only matcha (I knew of) in the AUS airport was Starbucks! I love trying local coffee shops and paid $8.00 for one plain Iced Matcha. Drink wise: Ratio of matcha to milk is not what I prefer--there is more milk than matcha. You can also taste sweetener. If you've ever had the Häagen-Dazs matcha ice cream, it's pretty close in taste. The service isn't bad. There was only one worker when I came in. I won't say names but they looked and sounded very defeated.. They were very quick with making drinks and asked all the appropriate questions. I believe this place is more knowledgable on coffee compared to matcha. Save your money until they have updated their powder to milk ratio. read more

Despite the price being a couple $$ higher than any other coffee in the airport (plain Jane drip brew) I still wanted it. Disappointed in the quality. Tasted like hot water with a splash of coffee in it. People? Make your coffee bold!! It doesn't have to be the dark roast, but it SHOULD have taste. I'll stick with the bags and grinding my own at home. Typical airport kiosk. Decent employee. Layout a little awkward with the cream at the back and no way to get out except through the incoming line. read more

TLDR: Starbuck's pricing with service on a par with the worst the U.S. Post Office has to offer? Heck, sign me up!!! Stale-tasting tea, limited selection, and dispirited employee. I say 'employee' since I didn't see any other people working there. Presumably they chewed through their restraints and escaped into the airport at large. Quick and short review of this small coffee shop in the Austin Bergstrom Airport. I have made a few pit stops prior to take offs and have had hit or miss experiences. First and foremost, their staff has always been lackluster and offer little to no customer service. Then you move onto their coffee, which is a huge question mark as a few times I have visited, it was great, but others it was one step below Folgers. So it really depends on your visit sadly as quality is not consistent at this small chain. Price wise, expect Starbucks pricing, but no one should be surprised by that being in an airport and all. Seating is available, but most times it has not been cleaned, so I'd suggest checking your departure gate for more comfortable and clean seating. No comment on the food as it never really looked to appealing. With all of that said, I cannot really give it much more than a two out of five star rating. read more

8/10 airport coffee. I got the vanilla latte and it was tasty - temp was perfect. 4 stars because it is pricy ($7!) I will give it that it's all organic, and the breakfast sandwich smells good (haven't tried it yet) However for the airport it's a solid coffee spot that isn't nasty. But a PB&J sandwich with granola was $8. That's terrible. Plus, said sandwich had 1,100 calories and 50 grams of fat. I hate airport food! I waited in line for 20 mins because on Sunday 5/21, there was on person working. He had to work the register and prepare the drinks and food. I stopped by Ruta Maya to grab something to drink & snack on before my flight. There were some other coffee shops in the area, but this one seemed better than the pretentious artisan place across the way. The cashier was super sweet and it was a little slow because she was the only one working, so everyone was pretty understanding of the situation. I ended up getting an Iced Chai, Chobani yogurt, and a Sausage, Egg, & Cheese breakfast sandwich. The Iced Chai was a boxed brand so it's a pretty standard one, but it was still good. Breakfast sandwich was decent as well. $12 for a quick breakfast. Guess that's not too bad/what you'd expect at the airport. read more

Solid coffee with beans primarily from Mexico, so the coffee has a milder, smoother and less bitter taste than most coffee from Starbucks, etc who like to use African beans, which are much harsher and bitter in my opinion. I personally tend to prefer Venezuelan, Columbian and Mexican beans over African coffee beans, so this is preferable to me over other coffee spots. Probably the best coffee in the airport and I might give them a higher rating, but I'm used to outstanding coffee from places in NYC like La Colombe, Stumptown and Grumpy's, so makes it tough for me to give Ruta Maya a higher rating. But, nonetheless, very good coffee, and if you're in the Austin airport, you should go here over other places. read more

If you want a quick coffee to go, this is a solid option for you. You have your standard coffee options and some basic food options to choose from as well. The service was very speedy when I ordered my drink and the coffee was rich and did it's job. Can't ask for much else for an airport coffee bar. read more

Service was okay. The coffee was bad. Disappointing since this is supposed to be Ruta Maya. I asked for a cappuccino and should have known something was off when asked about "size". Size of a "cappuccino is "cappuccino size". It's one or two shots of espresso and 1/3 cup steamed milk and 1/3 foam. A good cappuccino is about 7 to 8 ounces. Add more milk, and it's a latte. A good cappuccino is thick and rich. The milk should be a micro foam. It should be well blended into the coffee. I don't care about "latte art". I care about what a latte should be. What I got was a twelve ounce cup with a shot of espresso somewhere in it and nothing but foam on the top. The foam had had the texture of soap bubbles, and the coffee was lost deep within the cup. A sip proved to be nothing but foamed milk. No coffee at all. Stirring it was a useless endeavor. No matter how much I tried, I couldn't get the form to mix into the coffee. A waste of $5. The sad truth is that a standard Starbucks cappuccino would have been better. Sure the beans are over roasted and the texture is too thin (there's a fine line between a cappuccino and milk with way too much coffee), but at least I would have gotten SOME coffee flavor rather than a mouthful of foam. read more
