I really love this place. I found it when I needed to adjust my daily diet and embrace a healthier line up. It served that purpose and keeps me coming back because its soooo awesome. Service is great, its a seat your self environment and they are all fast and friendly. You can see the regulars have deep roots with the crew and the interaction is nice to see. The food is plentiful. My wife and I have a few times doubled up thinking we needed more than listed and tend to take large amounts home with me. The left overs are always welcome. A great place that I love to visit. Great homey ambience inside and friendly staff. They have a very varied menu with something for everybody. Don't think I have ever been disappointed by the food here, it is all so good. I think the only thing I would change is their salad bowls. The salads are so good, but instead of being served in crockery, they are served in a too big plastic bowl that makes me feel like I am eating out of a Rubbermaid bin. Outstanding restaurant in old town Tustin. A vast offering of items to suit everyone. Beef, chicken, vegetarian, vegan, soup, salad, pasta, juice drinks, smoothies snd more all done to perfection. My personal favorite menu items are the artichoke dip, fresh fruit plate, chocolate milkshake and pasta con pollo. Located in a 100 year old building the décor is just the right amount of over done. Groups of eight or more are asked to make reservations. Unlike the Orange and Fullerton locations, Tustin has ample parking available. The staff is warm and welcoming. read more

Came in on a Tuesday night around 7:30pm. I have to say the interior is fun to look at. Lots of different drawings and knickknacks everywhere. It looks like they have a gift shop for their own restaurant inside which is interesting. We ordered the hummus with pita bread for an appetizer. The hummus was flavorful, and has a more nutty flavor than a rich, oily flavor which is usually found at Lebanese/Mediterranean restaurants. I prefer the more traditional oily hummus but this one was good too. I have to say though, the pita bread was almost stone cold... I order the cafe milano and I really loved the taste of it. It came in a tall-ish mug, which was unexpected. Lots of whipped cream and a reddish-brown powder on top. As for the food, I ordered the salami sandwich. The tomato they used was really fresh and full of crunch. It was juicy. This is coming from someone who loathes tomatoes... I actually ate the tomato this time. My boyfriend however got the better choice, which was the seasonal ham and pear sandwich. It was nice and sweet, toasted and cheesy. We live really close by so we'll probably be back if we're in the mood for healthy stuff again. We were debating between this place and Freesoulcaffe but ended up here instead. Went here yesterday with my daughter. First off they need to hire more help!! We both felt so sorry for all the employees because they were truly working soooooo hard. My daughter and I both ordered salads because of our celiac disease and we went there since they were listed vegan and gluten-free on Yelp with good reviews?? To our dismay it was terrible!! Most of the produce was from cans??? My daughter got a Chinese chicken salad. It was huge with canned tiny corn shoots? Gross why? And I asked for the mediterranean salad with fresher mixed lettuce instead of Kale because it's just to hard to digest raw. They slapped a bunch of cheeses actually a ton, nasty canned olives, the quinoa was mushy after two bites I wanted to throw up. But our waitress (so sweet btw) was so busy she couldn't come back to ask us how our meal was. I felt bad to tell the busier to relay the message. Since I wasn't going to pay for two disgusting salads! She took it off the bill but I could tell she was irritated. I understand but maybe the owner should get more help, have someone revamp the menu, perhaps condense it by four pages? And as Chef Ramsey says you don't need a lot of food- just good food!! The staff is older so they arent as pleasant to a young one like me but they know what they are doing! I always get the chicken kissed the walnut sandwich all pasta no fruit and let me tell you the one is tustin takes it to another level. First when i ask for a pasta they replace the fruit with pasta, other ones just give normal pasta size and no fruit NOT WHAT I WANTED! And their pasta is different BETTER than other rutabegorz ive been too. Also the sandwich is made of amazing quality and they dont get stingy on the chicken salad they stuff that baby up and you get more than your moneys worth. She failed to give awesome energy, failed to ask how are food was, failed to ask if we want desserts ( my friend wanted to get desserts ) but just gave us the receipt. This was my first time at this restaurant and I loved it! We called ahead to order take-out and it was quick and easy and everyone we talked to or encountered was super friendly. Shout out to the person working the front (I unfortunately didn't get her name but she was wearing glasses and super kind), for answering our questions and for her good energy. They have social distancing protocols in place and I felt safe coming in to pick-up our order. The inside of the restaurant is super cute and I look forward to coming back when it's safe to eat in restaurants again. The hummus plate and nachos are super good and the sweet potato burrito was my favorite of the night. Price can definitely add up but they are very large portions, definitely enough to split and share. I went for the first time today and was very pleased. Server was genuinely friendly and didn't seem to resent me for being there (not a given when you go out to eat, especially in the current late-COVID period). I got 1/2 an avocado sandwich with a cup of their "killer" vegetarian chili. Both were very good. Relatively simple food but done very well (and they did not skimp on the avocado one bit). I also had their coconut cake for dessert, which also quite good (one slice is probably meant for 2 people, as it was $7.95 and very large). THIS PLACE NEEDS GORDON. I have the right to be upset because we tipped our waitress 20% and were kind in the restaurant and now it is time to pay, Rutabebussy. Does someone already call you grandma or grandpa? If not, don't eat at Rutabebussy. Don't do it. This review is mean and petty but the food we were served was absolutely hostile. Honestly though it didn't taste bad, it just didn't taste like anything. No seasoning. The walk back to the car on El Camino teased us with other restaurants we could have rather chosen. It was awful and my day is ruined (it's not, but it is). I will say that it was rather entertaining how bad it was. Maybe this could be a new business model, because I don't think I've ever messed up a meal so bad that I thought it was funny. I haven't wanted to drink for over a month, and I wasn't going to tonight, but you bet I am now. WERE DRINKING TONIGHT! If my girlfriend and I break up tonight, I blame Rutabebussy. It's hella cheaper too, I forget how much but someone on here said it's under $15 for feeding 2 people. It gets pretty busy too, but the wait's not long at all. These types of places always require you to not bring that huge of a party, so save it for those intimate, life changing conversations you've been waiting all week for. My friend loves this place and when I want to go to the Melting Pot due to its proximity and for whatever reason, she tells me NO, we're going here and I comply. So my sister and I kept it super kid style. We both had pizza bagels LOL and my mom a quesadilla. Out comes the food and its hot and fresh. Even though my moms quesadilla is simple it was really good and not greasy. Our pizza bagels were awesome , I need to ask for more pepperoni next time. The ONLY thing I didn't care for were the crazy "cat lady" coffee mugs right when you walk in. Jeremy and I went on the back end of a super busy lunch rush. Even with all the commotion and people, we had terrific service. I ordered a cup of chili. It had textured soy protein and beans. I enjoyed it. I'm used to having meat in my chili, so this was a nice change. I also asked for a falafel plate. It had 3 falafel, some hummus, carrot sticks, some pita triangles and a dipping sauce. I didn't care for the dipping sauce. The falafel were the brown variety; a little tough. The star was the hummus. My goodness, it was great. When I return, I will get that for an appetizer. It really had a good texture and was flavorful. Had I known the size of the plate, I would have not gotten the chili, too. I guess I was expecting a few falafel and maybe a sauce. Jeremy got a piece of red velvet cheesecake. It was super thick, magenta in color and incredibly rich. He ended up taking it home. If you're a bigger guy like me, don't even try to sit in the booths. I absolutely love this place! I recommend this place to vegetarians because there are so many different options. My favorite item on the menu is the Mexican Cesar Salad, I opt to add red onions and avocado to it every time I order it. I love this salad so much that I get it almost every time I am here. The portion size is huge so I ask for the dressing on the side and take half the salad home. The restaurant is usually seat yourself and first come first serve. I only come here with one or two other people so I am not sure how big party's work. Everyone in the establishment is so nice and accommodating. Their food is very fresh and and healthy, and they have a lot of vegetarian options. They have amazing salads, soups and entrees, and their portions are generous - you won't leave without bringing leftovers home! They also have excellent cookies, if you have a chance you really want to try their pumpkin cookies in the fall - they are amazing! They have an established staff and they provide great customer service, which I think is an important consideration for any successful business. Rutabegorz is one of my fav places to go in old town Orange, so I was excited to come to the old town Tustin location to meet a friend. We sat down outside on the patio and ordered the beet hummus special. I always love when they offer a daily special for $1 or under! Sadly it took us about 20 minutes to get the hummus, but it ended up being pretty good! For dinner, I was trying to figure out what to get because I had exactly what I wanted in my head, but this location has quite a different group of things on the menu that Orange doesn't. One of the silliest was that I couldn't get a half sandwich combo with a cup of soup or salad with the garlic chicken sandwich. I was like, really? Orange has that! Then I asked about the southwest quinoa bowl or the other 4 bowls I know they serve at the Orange location. Nope. I ended up ordering the garlic chicken wrap with no feta. It was marginal. It needed some sort of addition like avocado or maybe a sauce. The sandwich (in Orange) has avocado and just always seems so amazing! The wrap was disappointing. Our waiter was very nice but service was slow. Overall not an awesome experience and I will likely stick with the downtown Orange location for its wider selection. Consistency would serve them well at Rutabegorz. Especially with it being a small chain restaurant. I just expected the menu to be the same. read more

Came here with my wife for lunch one day. We loved the eclectic menu and decorations. The servers were very friendly and helpful. My wife and I both enjoyed our lunch (I got a turkey sandwich, she got the tuna sandwich), and our pie for dessert was amazing! Can I just say how in love I am with this place?! It's a super cute restaurant with tables inside and out. There was not much struggle with parking since you could park on the structure in the back. So my friend brought me to this place today since she always raves about how good it is so I wanted to give it a shot. The menu selections are quite a few and there's something for everyone! I opted for the BBQ chicken sandwich and top banana smoothie. This sandwich has got to be the best that I've ever tried! It had the BBQ chicken, avocado, cheese, lettuce and onion (didn't get).
