I loved this place! I went with a co-worker, who's not a vegetarian, and we both walked out stuffed, satiated, and planning our next visit. The menu is literally a book with many options, for both vegetarians and meat eaters. The portion sizes are HUGE so light eaters, beware! I had the veggie chili and avocado grilled cheese. Doesn't get better than Rutabegorz! My wife loves their menu options so when we need to eat out then this is the best default option for us. Their ingredients are fresh and they have terrific deserts as well. The pumpkin cookies are amazing! More than a salad place, this is definitely worth repeat visits to try everything they make! Especially go back for seasonal specials. We love the summer strawberry salad and the fall turkey/cranberry sandwich or pumpkin ravioli. Great selections and service year round! I looooooove Rutabegorz! Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and yummy food! The menu is much healthier than most restaurants and there are a ton of different options for vegetarians. I have had a few of their salads and sandwiches and have yet to be disappointed. Good place to go for some healthy meals. The food is usually fresh and great tasting. They have several vegetarian and vegan options available. The seasonal Hummus sandwich with veggies that is out right now is especially good. The service is usually good, but they always seem to be slightly understaffed during peak hours. A fairly good hippie-ish food option, reminiscent of Sojourner Café in Santa Barbara, for those who've been there. Very friendly service that is rather slow. The place is quite crowded at dinner time, though the rush abated by about 7:45 PM. Tortilla soup was not spicy but was well-made of fresh ingredients. Chicken salad sandwich was quite good and very fresh -- not outstanding but good. The kids enjoyed a pizza bagel, which came out with properly browned cheese thank you very much, and mac and cheese. The wife was happy with her veggie moo shu, which was very veggie but not, if we are being honest with ourselves, moo shu. They serve Fuller's Organic Honey Dew, which does not knock the socks off but which does make a nice change from my recent tipples. read more

I work close by and stop in here a couple times a month when I forget to bring my lunch to work. I always get the to-go so I've never sat in the restaurant. Afternoons are a prime time here so expect to wait more than usual. (Not more than 5 minutes though) I always get one of their amazing cookies and the passion tea. I LOVE Rutaberorz! It is healthy, wholesome food that tastes homemade. The salads are huge and full of fresh, delicious ingredients. I have tried so many things on their menu and always go back to the Garlic Chicken Salad. It is just perfect. The vegetable soup is really good too. In the fall, they have pumpkin cookies that are a pumpkin lovers dream. I look forward to them all year long and shed a little tear when they are gone. The wine is all very reasonably priced and the selection is better then expected. The atmosphere is fun, eclectic and not hip, which I love. The service at the Tustin location can be slow. So this place is super cute, nice seating, wait staff is sweet. I ordered chicken cattatore and it was so bland and had no flavor at all. Really tasty food here. The prices are appropriate to the food choice and quality, and the portions are a good size. You can definitely take some home with you. Try the chicken tacos or one of the soups for lunch/dinner, and the breakfast choices are quite tasty; the huevos rancheros were satisfying. Pretty Good. I ate the walnut that kissed the chicken sandwich on squaw bread and a cup of chili. the sandwich was served with a pineapple slice and the cup of chili had an avocado slice. Came here for the first time today after driving past it every single Sunday on my way to church. I went around 1:00 PM and it was about 3/4 full. You find your own seats and wait for the waiter to serve you. Inside of the restaurant was pretty cool. The paintings and there wall decorations made it very welcoming. I ordered half of the "Walnut that Kissed the Chicken" sandwich and the "Cockie Leeky" soup. The sandwich was pretty good, but the soup was the best. It was like a chicken noodle chowder. Dip that sandwich into the soup and wow. My plate also came with some pasta salad and some fruits on the side. I would definitely come back to this little diner. It's worth taking your friends here for a nice lunch and afternoon hang out. read more

We have been Ruta's fans for awhile but had never been to this particular location, it is great, though! The Fullerton locations used to be our preferred location but the Tustin one is quite nice. The outdoor seating area is perfectly located so you can enjoy the atmosphere of the restaurant while watching the scenery of Main St. The main dining room is quite large and you can easily find a table. Food quality is still awesome and the service is also satisfactory, albeit a bit slow, but can you blame them? This place packs in the business! read more

My boyfriend and I love this place! It is a great place to eat that offers a wide variety of vegetarian dishes. I've tried numerous dishes but I really enjoy their salads. They are very tasty and come in a large bowl. Some of my other favorite dishes are the Mexican Casserole and their Mac and Cheese. They also offer a monthly $0.43 special which is usually some sort of dip + sides. Everything is also decently priced, on average we spend about $30 including drinks and tip! read more

Really my only critique about this place is the signage is hidden forcing me to drive past it three times before I realized there it was. Service was great, food was great. My husband doesn't like this place but I love it - for the exact same reason. Things taste very "homemade" and healthy here. If that fits your bill, you'll love it. If not, it will seem too expensive for what you're getting. My husband thinks most of the things he has tried were too bland. I love the salads, the Dala is a really good deal with any order, and the chicken salad sandwich is delicious. My husband does enjoy the chicken enchiladas verde, we both agree their wine portions are generous and delicious, and they have the BEST cheesecake, cookies and lemon squares ever. read more

I ordered the garlic chicken salad abd an iced tea. The food came quickly and was pretty good. Not sure if there was much garlic in the chicken. Lots of avocado, very generous portion and fresh.
