Went to Klyde Warren Park and had been wanting to try Ruthie's for some time. I had the Turkey Trot with turkey - duh, bacon, cheese and their special sauce. It was so good I ate the entire sandwich and I never eat the entire anything.....We also had the patty melt which was equally as good and then a regular old grilled cheese with tomatoe. All was good and would definitely order the Turkey sandwich again. Yummy! Wish they had fries. read more

i found ruthie's again today. i got there early and there were only a few folks it line.. thuuumbs up, right? nope. the kid running the register seemed like he had just woken up. i ordered the absolute awesome bbq grilled cheese. as i was waiting a few more people showed up to order. one i guess was a buddy of the cashier because he proceeded to bs with him about his "awesome" part time job while he was attempted to take the orders of a few other people. when one order came up and the customer had walked off.. he took it from the kitchen and flopped it down and said "well i guess she'll come get it when she wants it." this really bummed me out, guys. i'm an extremely low maintenance consumer.. it doesn't take too much to please me. but one of my favorite aspects of the food truck culture that's blossoming is the great customer service. this kid just did not have it.. good news.. it won't deter me from stopping again. i'm just gonna cross my fingers that one of the awesome ladies will be taking orders! read more

I tried ruthie's for the first time while in Klyde Warren. There are about 5-7 different grilled cheese sandwiches to choose from. I order "The Boss" which is a bbq brisket grilled cheese sandwich. You can definitely taste the bbq flavor but it was too salty. It was an experience to try a different take on grilled cheese sandwiches but this is not something I would crave or want to try a second time. read more

They were on NW Hwy just east of Lemmon on a bitter cold morning. I got there before the business park descended on the truck. Got The Hippie with pesto, grilled tomatoes and jalapenos. I was warned by one of the workers the peppers are spicey, I laughed and told him I wasn't scared. It was a good cheesey, Pestoy, sandwich with spicey grilled jalapeños. It all worked together. But with a scant tip it was $10 with no chips or drinks and not loaded with protein, just enough to represent. As far as value maybe their menu has more options and I just need to keep investigating. read more

My husband and I like to frequent Klyde Warren park, where Ruthies food truck is always parked on the weekends. Their brisket grilled cheese sandwich is always what we pick to eat. Though the staff was incredibly friendly, the service was unbelievably slow. I always expect to wait a little longer for food at a food truck because they obviously have fewer resources than a regular restaurant. However, this was slow even for food truck service. Our office has a different food truck every Friday and the usual wait is about 20 - 30 minutes. This took more than 45. The grilled cheese was good but definitely not $7 good. All of our guests kept commenting on how fantastic the food was and how friendly the staff was. I stopped by Ruthie's a few weeks ago while they were at Sigels on Fitzhugh. I ordered the ham and swiss with their special sauce and caramelized onions. It was tasty and I would totally go back, but it's definitely a heavy meal. What else would you expect from a grilled cheese? read more

On a couple of different occasions, I've bought a plain grilled cheese from this truck for my toddler and sampled a few bites for myself. It was just okay. Nothing special. As others have said, if you're going to make grilled cheese your business, you should make sure those grilled cheese sandwiches are amazing. Specifically with regard to the plain one, I've made better grilled cheese at home, with less grease and healthier bread, for a heck of a lot cheaper. Not to say my toddler didn't LOVE it (and this is definitely one of the best "kid's meal" type choices out there when it comes to food trucks), but as an adult I wouldn't spend my money here if there are other options parked nearby. read more

This was my first time at this place. I got the Turkey Trot. It was a very good sandwich, but it's just a grilled cheese with a very small piece of turkey on it for $8.50. Nothing else comes with it, not even a pickle. Again, the sandwich was very tasty, but come on guys, pump it up a little bit. read more

I am a fan of the food truck as a rule of thumb. This one has pretty good food as well. A couple of things that make me "meh" this place. 1.) $2 for a bag of chips, seriously? 2.) They claim sourdough bread, it seems more like thick cut generic white bread to me. I will say "The Boss" is about as good as it gets for what I guess I might call a sloppy joe grilled cheese, again though $8.12 seems a bit high after you are all paid up for a sandwich. read more

Working in the Arts District, I've come to know the food trucks fairly well. Some trucks are there every day, others are there on a rotation. Ruthie's is the one truck that; when there, I go to. I just have to. It's simply devine. First off -- sourdough bread? YES PLEASE! The patty melt is the best, hands down. Carmelized onions, meat, and cheese encased in bread just can't be beat. I had the cakeballs one day and they are great. Not sure how to describe them. They're delicious, don't get me wrong. They're like a thick brownie, covered in chocolate icing, and then chilled. At TI today the third of the trucks came by. The 'Creperia'. The funny thing is, I was commenting to a friend the other day that I hadn't had a good savory Crepe in a very long time. When I saw this truck there, I made a beeline. Selection: Meh - Decent. About 5-6 sweet, 5-6 savory, though one of the savory ones was crossed-out. I mentioned above I hadn't had a good one in a long while. The selection on Savory Crepes was truly meh. Only about 6 options, one crossed off, and the selection... Well, lets say definitely not traditional at all. I was hoping for a good Merguez or the like. No such luck. I got a philly cheese'steak' one. initially asked for chicken. was told it was going to be sliced deli chicken. so opted for beef instead. Quality: Meh - Decent - (surprisingly) good Why the range? The food tasted very good, if a bit greasy (good thing it wasn't traditionally wrapped or I'd have made one heck of a mess. A decent amount, but not the 'hearty' that they bill on the website. Despite the greasiness (left a puddle in the take-away container), the crepe actually held up and wasn't falling apart. That alone was impressive. For the overall, only meh, as it wasn't traditionally wrapped (kind of a trifold triangle shape), did not look appealing at all. And just a general lack of 'extras', like some lettuce, pickle, or anything else. Didn't see any list of add-ons. Price: Poor. While a decent amount of meat in it. ~NOT~ worth the $8 ($8.66 w/ tax) AT ALL! Still hungry at the end. I do realize that it costs money to keep the truck and all going, but for that price I expected a fair bit more. read more

Delicious grilled cheeses. Without a doubt my favorite food truck in Dallas. My friends and I try to go as much as possible. I've tried almost all the sandwiches and the turkey trott and the boss are my favorites. The secret sauce is fantastic. Haven't tried the other Ruthies trucks but I know there are more. There are 3 of them and 2 were working today..We had a chance to try the delicious food from Ruthie's Crepes Truck..First time I had eaten from it... I must say it was wonderful.. We had the Philly Cheese Steak ... it was delicious... I have eaten with Ruthie's Rolling Cafe and had the Grill Cheese.. WoW, it is so good... Since the Dallas food truck craze started i have been looking for the one I thought was the best and I think I did with Ruthie's. We could not have asked for a more courteous and wonderful experience with the Sr. Staff all the way down to the personnel manning the Food Truck. Just an absolute professional operation who did not hesitate to be part of the Benefit. The cuisine was fantastic and not one person had a negative comment about any of the items served.
